الٓر ۚ
alif-lam-raAlif Laam Ra
كِتَـٰبٌ
kitābunA Book
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ
anzalnāhuwhich We have revealed
إِلَيْكَ
ilaykato you
لِتُخْرِجَ
litukh'rijaso that you may bring out
ٱلنَّاسَ
l-nāsathe mankind
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ
l-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]
إِلَى
ilāto
ٱلنُّورِ
l-nūrithe light
بِإِذْنِ
bi-idh'niby the permission
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim(of) their Lord
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
صِرَٰطِ
ṣirāṭithe Path
ٱلْعَزِيزِ
l-ʿazīzi(of) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَمِيدِ
l-ḥamīdithe Praiseworthy
١
(1)
Alif, Lām, Rā. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy -

ٱللَّهِ
al-lahiAllah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(is) the One
لَهُۥ
lahuto Him (belongs)
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَا
wamāand whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ
l-arḍithe earth
وَوَيْلٌۭ
wawaylunAnd woe
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
lil'kāfirīnato the disbelievers
مِنْ
minfrom
عَذَابٍۢ
ʿadhābinthe punishment
شَدِيدٍ
shadīdinsevere
٢
(2)
Allāh, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And woe [i.e., destruction] to the disbelievers from a severe punishment -

ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnaThose who
يَسْتَحِبُّونَ
yastaḥibbūnalove more
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
l-ḥayatathe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā(of) the world
عَلَى
ʿalāthan
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhiratithe Hereafter
وَيَصُدُّونَ
wayaṣuddūnaand hinder
عَن
ʿanfrom
سَبِيلِ
sabīli(the) Path
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
وَيَبْغُونَهَا
wayabghūnahāand seek in it
عِوَجًا ۚ
ʿiwajancrookedness
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikathose
فِى
[in]
ضَلَـٰلٍۭ
ḍalālin(are) far astray
بَعِيدٍۢ
baʿīdin(are) far astray
٣
(3)
The ones who prefer the worldly life over the Hereafter and avert [people] from the way of Allāh, seeking to make it [seem] deviant. Those are in extreme error.

وَمَآ
wamāAnd not
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnāWe sent
مِن
minany
رَّسُولٍ
rasūlinMessenger
إِلَّا
illāexcept
بِلِسَانِ
bilisāniwith the language
قَوْمِهِۦ
qawmihi(of) his people
لِيُبَيِّنَ
liyubayyinaso that he might make clear
لَهُمْ ۖ
lahumfor them
فَيُضِلُّ
fayuḍilluThen Allah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuThen Allah lets go astray
مَن
manwhom
يَشَآءُ
yashāuHe wills
وَيَهْدِى
wayahdīand guides
مَن
manwhom
يَشَآءُ ۚ
yashāuHe wills
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
l-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
٤
(4)
And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allāh sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd verily
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnāWe sent
مُوسَىٰ
mūsāMusa
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ
biāyātināwith Our Signs
أَنْ
anthat
أَخْرِجْ
akhrijBring out
قَوْمَكَ
qawmakayour people
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ
l-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]
إِلَى
ilāto
ٱلنُّورِ
l-nūrithe light
وَذَكِّرْهُم
wadhakkir'humAnd remind them
بِأَيَّىٰمِ
bi-ayyāmiof the days
ٱللَّهِ ۚ
l-lahi(of) Allah
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikathat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ
laāyātinsurely (are) the signs
لِّكُلِّ
likullifor everyone
صَبَّارٍۢ
ṣabbārinpatient
شَكُورٍۢ
shakūrinand thankful
٥
(5)
And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs, [saying], "Bring out your people from darknesses into the light and remind them of the days of Allāh." Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

وَإِذْ
wa-idhAnd when
قَالَ
qālasaid
مُوسَىٰ
mūsāMusa
لِقَوْمِهِ
liqawmihito his people
ٱذْكُرُوا۟
udh'kurūRemember
نِعْمَةَ
niʿ'mata(the) Favor of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(the) Favor of Allah
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykumupon you
إِذْ
idhwhen
أَنجَىٰكُم
anjākumHe saved you
مِّنْ
minfrom
ءَالِ
āli(the) people
فِرْعَوْنَ
fir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
يَسُومُونَكُمْ
yasūmūnakumthey were afflicting you
سُوٓءَ
sūa(with) evil
ٱلْعَذَابِ
l-ʿadhābitorment
وَيُذَبِّحُونَ
wayudhabbiḥūnaand were slaughtering
أَبْنَآءَكُمْ
abnāakumyour sons
وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ
wayastaḥyūnaand letting live
نِسَآءَكُمْ ۚ
nisāakumyour women
وَفِى
wafīAnd in
ذَٰلِكُم
dhālikumthat
بَلَآءٌۭ
balāon(was) a trial
مِّن
minfrom
رَّبِّكُمْ
rabbikumyour Lord
عَظِيمٌۭ
ʿaẓīmungreat
٦
(6)
And [recall, O Children of Israel], when Moses said to his people, "Remember the favor of Allāh upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, who were afflicting you with the worst torment and were slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord.

وَإِذْ
wa-idhAnd when
تَأَذَّنَ
ta-adhanaproclaimed
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukumyour Lord
لَئِن
la-inIf
شَكَرْتُمْ
shakartumyou are thankful
لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ ۖ
la-azīdannakumsurely I will increase you
وَلَئِن
wala-inbut if
كَفَرْتُمْ
kafartumyou are ungrateful
إِنَّ
innaindeed
عَذَابِى
ʿadhābīMy punishment
لَشَدِيدٌۭ
lashadīdun(is) surely severe
٧
(7)
And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.'"

وَقَالَ
waqālaAnd said
مُوسَىٰٓ
mūsāMusa
إِن
inIf
تَكْفُرُوٓا۟
takfurūyou disbelieve
أَنتُمْ
antumyou
وَمَن
wamanand whoever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
جَمِيعًۭا
jamīʿanall
فَإِنَّ
fa-innathen indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
لَغَنِىٌّ
laghaniyyuncertainly (is) Free of need
حَمِيدٌ
ḥamīdunPraiseworthy
٨
(8)
And Moses said, "If you should disbelieve, you and whoever is on the earth entirely - indeed, Allāh is Free of need and Praiseworthy."

أَلَمْ
alamHas not
يَأْتِكُمْ
yatikumcome to you
نَبَؤُا۟
naba-u(the) news
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(of) those who
مِن
min(were) before you
قَبْلِكُمْ
qablikum(were) before you
قَوْمِ
qawmithe people
نُوحٍۢ
nūḥinof Nuh
وَعَادٍۢ
waʿādinand Aad
وَثَمُودَ ۛ
wathamūdaand Thamud
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīnaand those who
مِنۢ
min(were) after them
بَعْدِهِمْ ۛ
baʿdihim(were) after them
لَا
None
يَعْلَمُهُمْ
yaʿlamuhumknows them
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱللَّهُ ۚ
l-lahuAllah
جَآءَتْهُمْ
jāathumCame to them
رُسُلُهُم
rusuluhumtheir Messengers
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ
bil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
فَرَدُّوٓا۟
faraddūbut they returned
أَيْدِيَهُمْ
aydiyahumtheir hands
فِىٓ
in
أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ
afwāhihimtheir mouths
وَقَالُوٓا۟
waqālūand they said
إِنَّا
innāIndeed we
كَفَرْنَا
kafarnā[we] disbelieve
بِمَآ
bimāin what
أُرْسِلْتُم
ur'sil'tumyou have been sent
بِهِۦ
bihiwith [it]
وَإِنَّا
wa-innāand indeed, we
لَفِى
lafī(are) surely in
شَكٍّۢ
shakkindoubt
مِّمَّا
mimmāabout what
تَدْعُونَنَآ
tadʿūnanāyou invite us
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhito it
مُرِيبٍۢ
murībinsuspicious
٩
(9)
Has there not reached you the news of those before you - the people of Noah and ʿAad and Thamūd and those after them? No one knows them [i.e., their number] but Allāh. Their messengers brought them clear proofs, but they returned their hands to their mouths and said, "Indeed, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and indeed we are, about that to which you invite us, in disquieting doubt."

۞ قَالَتْ
qālatSaid
رُسُلُهُمْ
rusuluhumtheir Messengers
أَفِى
afīCan (there) be about
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
شَكٌّۭ
shakkunany doubt
فَاطِرِ
fāṭiri(the) Creator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ
wal-arḍiand the earth
يَدْعُوكُمْ
yadʿūkumHe invites you
لِيَغْفِرَ
liyaghfiraso that He may forgive
لَكُم
lakumfor you
مِّن
min[of]
ذُنُوبِكُمْ
dhunūbikumyour sins
وَيُؤَخِّرَكُمْ
wayu-akhirakumand give you respite
إِلَىٰٓ
ilāfor
أَجَلٍۢ
ajalina term
مُّسَمًّۭى ۚ
musammanappointed
قَالُوٓا۟
qālūThey said
إِنْ
inNot
أَنتُمْ
antumyou
إِلَّا
illā(are) but
بَشَرٌۭ
basharuna human
مِّثْلُنَا
mith'lunālike us
تُرِيدُونَ
turīdūnayou wish
أَن
anto
تَصُدُّونَا
taṣuddūnāhinder us
عَمَّا
ʿammāfrom what
كَانَ
kānaused to
يَعْبُدُ
yaʿbuduworship
ءَابَآؤُنَا
ābāunāour forefathers
فَأْتُونَا
fatūnāSo bring us
بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢ
bisul'ṭāninan authority
مُّبِينٍۢ
mubīninclear
١٠
(10)
Their messengers said, "Can there be doubt about Allāh, Creator of the heavens and earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays you [i.e., your death] for a specified term." They said, "You are not but men like us who wish to avert us from what our fathers were worshipping. So bring us a clear authority [i.e., evidence]."

قَالَتْ

لَهُمْ

رُسُلُهُمْ
rusuluhumtheir Messengers
إِن
inNot
نَّحْنُ
naḥnuwe (are)
إِلَّا
illābut
بَشَرٌۭ
basharuna human
مِّثْلُكُمْ
mith'lukumlike you
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinnabut
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
يَمُنُّ
yamunnubestows His Grace
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
مَن
manwhom
يَشَآءُ
yashāuHe wills
مِنْ
minof
عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ
ʿibādihiHis slaves
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
كَانَ
kānais
لَنَآ
lanāfor us
أَن
anthat
نَّأْتِيَكُم
natiyakumwe bring you
بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ
bisul'ṭāninan authority
إِلَّا
illāexcept
بِإِذْنِ
bi-idh'niby the permission of Allah
ٱللَّهِ ۚ
l-lahiby the permission of Allah
وَعَلَى
waʿalāAnd upon
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ
falyatawakkaliso let put (their) trust
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
l-mu'minūnathe believers
١١
(11)
Their messengers said to them, "We are only men like you, but Allāh confers favor upon whom He wills of His servants. It has never been for us to bring you evidence except by permission of Allāh. And upon Allāh let the believers rely.

وَمَا
wamāAnd what
لَنَآ
lanā(is) for us
أَلَّا
allāthat not
نَتَوَكَّلَ
natawakkalawe put our trust
عَلَى
ʿalāupon
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
وَقَدْ
waqadwhile certainly
هَدَىٰنَا
hadānāHe has guided us
سُبُلَنَا ۚ
subulanāto our ways
وَلَنَصْبِرَنَّ
walanaṣbirannaAnd surely we will bear with patience
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
مَآ
what
ءَاذَيْتُمُونَا ۚ
ādhaytumūnāharm you may cause us
وَعَلَى
waʿalāAnd upon
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ
falyatawakkaliso let put (their) trust
ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ
l-mutawakilūnathe ones who put (their) trust
١٢
(12)
And why should we not rely upon Allāh while He has guided us to our [good] ways. And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us. And upon Allāh let those who would rely [indeed] rely."

وَقَالَ
waqālaAnd said
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
لِرُسُلِهِمْ
lirusulihimto their Messengers
لَنُخْرِجَنَّكُم
lanukh'rijannakumSurely we will drive you out
مِّنْ
minof
أَرْضِنَآ
arḍināour land
أَوْ
awor
لَتَعُودُنَّ
lataʿūdunnasurely you should return
فِى
to
مِلَّتِنَا ۖ
millatināour religion
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ
fa-awḥāSo inspired
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhimto them
رَبُّهُمْ
rabbuhumtheir Lord
لَنُهْلِكَنَّ
lanuh'likannaWe will surely destroy
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
١٣
(13)
And those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion." So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers.

وَلَنُسْكِنَنَّكُمُ
walanus'kinannakumuAnd surely We will make you dwell
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa(in) the land
مِنۢ
minafter them
بَعْدِهِمْ ۚ
baʿdihimafter them
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikaThat
لِمَنْ
liman(is) for whoever
خَافَ
khāfafears
مَقَامِى
maqāmīstanding before Me
وَخَافَ
wakhāfaand fears
وَعِيدِ
waʿīdiMy Threat
١٤
(14)
And We will surely cause you to dwell in the land after them. That is for he who fears My position and fears My threat."

15
وَٱسْتَفْتَحُوا۟
wa-is'taftaḥūAnd they sought victory
وَخَابَ
wakhābaand disappointed
كُلُّ
kulluevery
جَبَّارٍ
jabbārintyrant
عَنِيدٍۢ
ʿanīdinobstinate
١٥
(15)
And they requested decision [i.e., victory from Allāh], and disappointed, [therefore], was every obstinate tyrant.

مِّن
minof him
وَرَآئِهِۦ
warāihiAhead
جَهَنَّمُ
jahannamu(is) Hell
وَيُسْقَىٰ
wayus'qāand he will be made to drink
مِن
minof
مَّآءٍۢ
māinwater
صَدِيدٍۢ
ṣadīdinpurulent
١٦
(16)
Before him is Hell, and he will be given a drink of purulent water.

يَتَجَرَّعُهُۥ
yatajarraʿuhuHe will sip it
وَلَا
walābut not
يَكَادُ
yakāduhe will be near
يُسِيغُهُۥ
yusīghuhu(to) swallowing it
وَيَأْتِيهِ
wayatīhiAnd will come to him
ٱلْمَوْتُ
l-mawtuthe death
مِن
minfrom
كُلِّ
kullievery
مَكَانٍۢ
makāninside
وَمَا
wamābut not
هُوَ
huwahe
بِمَيِّتٍۢ ۖ
bimayyitinwill die
وَمِن
waminAnd ahead of him
وَرَآئِهِۦ
warāihiAnd ahead of him
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun(is) a punishment
غَلِيظٌۭ
ghalīẓunharsh
١٧
(17)
He will gulp it but will hardly [be able to] swallow it. And death will come to him from everywhere, but he is not to die. And before him is a massive punishment.

مَّثَلُ
mathalu(The) example
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieve
بِرَبِّهِمْ ۖ
birabbihimin their Lord
أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ
aʿmāluhumtheir deeds
كَرَمَادٍ
karamādin(are) like ashes
ٱشْتَدَّتْ
ish'taddatblows furiously
بِهِ
bihion it
ٱلرِّيحُ
l-rīḥuthe wind
فِى
in
يَوْمٍ
yawmina day
عَاصِفٍۢ ۖ
ʿāṣifinstormy
لَّا
No
يَقْدِرُونَ
yaqdirūnacontrol (they have)
مِمَّا
mimmāof what
كَسَبُوا۟
kasabūthey have earned
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
شَىْءٍۢ ۚ
shayinanything
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikaThat
هُوَ
huwa[it]
ٱلضَّلَـٰلُ
l-ḍalālu(is) the straying
ٱلْبَعِيدُ
l-baʿīdufar
١٨
(18)
The example of those who disbelieve in their Lord is [that] their deeds are like ashes which the wind blows forcefully on a stormy day; they are unable [to keep] from what they earned a [single] thing. That is what is extreme error.

أَلَمْ
alamDo not
تَرَ
tarayou see
أَنَّ
annathat
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
خَلَقَ
khalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ
bil-ḥaqiin truth
إِن
inIf
يَشَأْ
yashaHe wills
يُذْهِبْكُمْ
yudh'hib'kumHe can remove you
وَيَأْتِ
wayatiand bring
بِخَلْقٍۢ
bikhalqina creation
جَدِيدٍۢ
jadīdinnew
١٩
(19)
Have you not seen [i.e., considered] that Allāh created the heavens and the earth in truth? If He wills, He can do away with you and produce a new creation.

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika(is) that
عَلَى
ʿalāon
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
بِعَزِيزٍۢ
biʿazīzingreat
٢٠
(20)
And that is not difficult for Allāh.

وَبَرَزُوا۟
wabarazūAnd they will come forth
لِلَّهِ
lillahibefore Allah
جَمِيعًۭا
jamīʿanall together
فَقَالَ
faqālathen will say
ٱلضُّعَفَـٰٓؤُا۟
l-ḍuʿafāuthe weak
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīnato those who
ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟
is'takbarūwere arrogant
إِنَّا
innāIndeed we
كُنَّا
kunnāwe were
لَكُمْ
lakumyour
تَبَعًۭا
tabaʿanfollowers
فَهَلْ
fahalso can
أَنتُم
antumyou (be)
مُّغْنُونَ
mugh'nūnathe one who avails
عَنَّا
ʿannāus
مِنْ
minfrom
عَذَابِ
ʿadhābi(the) punishment
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
مِن
minanything
شَىْءٍۢ ۚ
shayinanything
قَالُوا۟
qālūThey will say
لَوْ
lawIf
هَدَىٰنَا
hadānāAllah had guided us
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah had guided us
لَهَدَيْنَـٰكُمْ ۖ
lahadaynākumsurely we would have guided you
سَوَآءٌ
sawāon(It is) same
عَلَيْنَآ
ʿalaynāfor us
أَجَزِعْنَآ
ajaziʿ'nāwhether we show intolerance
أَمْ
amor
صَبَرْنَا
ṣabarnāwe are patient
مَا
not
لَنَا
lanā(is) for us
مِن
minany
مَّحِيصٍۢ
maḥīṣinplace of escape
٢١
(21)
And they will come out [for judgement] before Allāh all together, and the weak will say to those who were arrogant, "Indeed, we were your followers, so can you avail us anything against the punishment of Allāh?" They will say, "If Allāh had guided us, we would have guided you. It is all the same for us whether we show intolerance or are patient: there is for us no place of escape."

وَقَالَ
waqālaAnd will say
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan
لَمَّا
lammāwhen
قُضِىَ
quḍiyahas been decided
ٱلْأَمْرُ
l-amruthe matter
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
وَعَدَكُمْ
waʿadakumpromised you
وَعْدَ
waʿdaa promise
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqi(of) truth
وَوَعَدتُّكُمْ
wawaʿadttukumAnd I promised you
فَأَخْلَفْتُكُمْ ۖ
fa-akhlaftukumbut I betrayed you
وَمَا
wamāBut not
كَانَ
kānaI had
لِىَ
liyaI had
عَلَيْكُم
ʿalaykumover you
مِّن
minany
سُلْطَـٰنٍ
sul'ṭāninauthority
إِلَّآ
illāexcept
أَن
anthat
دَعَوْتُكُمْ
daʿawtukumI invited you
فَٱسْتَجَبْتُمْ
fa-is'tajabtumand you responded
لِى ۖ
to me
فَلَا
falāSo (do) not
تَلُومُونِى
talūmūnīblame me
وَلُومُوٓا۟
walūmūbut blame
أَنفُسَكُم ۖ
anfusakumyourselves
مَّآ
Not
أَنَا۠
anā(can) I
بِمُصْرِخِكُمْ
bimuṣ'rikhikum(be) your helper
وَمَآ
wamāand not
أَنتُم
antumyou (can)
بِمُصْرِخِىَّ ۖ
bimuṣ'rikhiyya(be) my helper
إِنِّى
innīIndeed, I
كَفَرْتُ
kafartudeny
بِمَآ
bimā[of what]
أَشْرَكْتُمُونِ
ashraktumūniyour association of me (with Allah)
مِن
minbefore
قَبْلُ ۗ
qablubefore
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
لَهُمْ
lahumfor them
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌۭ
alīmunpainful
٢٢
(22)
And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, "Indeed, Allāh had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allāh] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment."

وَأُدْخِلَ
wa-ud'khilaAnd will be admitted
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanūbelieved
وَعَمِلُوا۟
waʿamilūand did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
l-ṣāliḥātirighteous deeds
جَنَّـٰتٍۢ
jannātin(to) Gardens
تَجْرِى
tajrīflows
مِن
minfrom
تَحْتِهَا
taḥtihāunderneath it
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ
l-anhāruthe rivers
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīna(will) abide forever
فِيهَا
fīhāin it
بِإِذْنِ
bi-idh'niby the permission
رَبِّهِمْ ۖ
rabbihim(of) their Lord
تَحِيَّتُهُمْ
taḥiyyatuhumtheir greetings
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
سَلَـٰمٌ
salāmun(will be) peace
٢٣
(23)
And those who believed and did righteous deeds will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein by permission of their Lord; and their greeting therein will be, "Peace!"

ثَابِتٌۭ
thābitun(is) firm
وَفَرْعُهَا
wafarʿuhāand its branches
فِى
(are) in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāithe sky
٢٤
(24)
Have you not considered how Allāh presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky?

أُكُلَهَا

وَيَضْرِبُ
wayaḍribuAnd Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAnd Allah sets forth
ٱلْأَمْثَالَ
l-amthālathe examples
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsifor mankind
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
yatadhakkarūnaremember
٢٥
(25)
It produces its fruit all the time, by permission of its Lord. And Allāh presents examples for the people that perhaps they will be reminded.

ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi(of) the earth

لَهَا
lahāfor it
مِن
min(is) any
قَرَارٍۢ
qarārinstability

(26)
And the example of a bad word is like a bad tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, not having any stability.

يُثَبِّتُ
yuthabbituAllah keeps firm
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah keeps firm
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanūbelieve
بِٱلْقَوْلِ
bil-qawliwith the firm word
ٱلثَّابِتِ
l-thābitiwith the firm word
فِى
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
l-ḥayatithe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā(of) the world
وَفِى
wafīand in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖ
l-ākhiratithe Hereafter
وَيُضِلُّ
wayuḍilluAnd Allah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAnd Allah lets go astray
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ۚ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
وَيَفْعَلُ
wayafʿaluAnd Allah does
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAnd Allah does
مَا
what
يَشَآءُ
yashāuHe wills
٢٧
(27)
Allāh keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allāh sends astray the wrongdoers. And Allāh does what He wills.

نِعْمَتَ

ٱللَّهِ

كُفْرًۭا
kuf'ran(for) disbelief
وَأَحَلُّوا۟
wa-aḥallūand they led
قَوْمَهُمْ
qawmahumtheir people
دَارَ
dāra(to the) house
ٱلْبَوَارِ
l-bawāri(of) destruction
٢٨
(28)
Have you not considered those who exchanged the favor of Allāh for disbelief and settled their people [in] the home of ruin?

جَهَنَّمَ
jahannamaHell
يَصْلَوْنَهَا ۖ
yaṣlawnahā(in) it they will burn
وَبِئْسَ
wabi'saand a wretched
ٱلْقَرَارُ
l-qarāruplace to settle

(29)
[It is] Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the settlement.

وَجَعَلُوا۟
wajaʿalūAnd they set up
لِلَّهِ
lillahito Allah
أَندَادًۭا
andādanequals
لِّيُضِلُّوا۟
liyuḍillūso that they mislead
عَن
ʿanfrom
سَبِيلِهِۦ ۗ
sabīlihiHis Path
قُلْ
qulSay
تَمَتَّعُوا۟
tamattaʿūEnjoy
فَإِنَّ
fa-innabut indeed
مَصِيرَكُمْ
maṣīrakumyour destination
إِلَى
ilā(is) to
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nārithe Fire
٣٠
(30)
And they have attributed to Allāh equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, "Enjoy yourselves, for indeed, your destination is the Fire."

لِّعِبَادِىَ
liʿibādiyato My slaves
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanūbelieve
يُقِيمُوا۟
yuqīmū(to) establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalatathe prayers
وَيُنفِقُوا۟
wayunfiqūand (to) spend
مِمَّا
mimmāfrom what
رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ
razaqnāhumWe have provided them
سِرًّۭا
sirransecretly
وَعَلَانِيَةًۭ
waʿalāniyatanand publicly
مِّن
minbefore
قَبْلِ
qablibefore
أَن
an[that]
يَأْتِىَ
yatiyacomes
يَوْمٌۭ
yawmuna Day
لَّا
not
بَيْعٌۭ
bayʿunany trade
فِيهِ
fīhiin it
وَلَا
walāand not
خِلَـٰلٌ
khilālunany friendship
٣١
(31)
[O Muḥammad], tell My servants who have believed to establish prayer and spend from what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, before a Day comes in which there will be no exchange [i.e., ransom], nor any friendships.

alladhī(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
وَأَنزَلَ
wa-anzalaand sent down
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāithe sky
مَآءًۭ
māanwater
فَأَخْرَجَ
fa-akhrajathen brought forth
بِهِۦ
bihifrom it
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
l-thamarātithe fruits
رِزْقًۭا
riz'qan(as) a provision
لَّكُمْ ۖ
lakumfor you
وَسَخَّرَ
wasakharaand subjected
لَكُمُ
lakumufor you
ٱلْفُلْكَ
l-ful'kathe ships
لِتَجْرِىَ
litajriyaso that they may sail
فِى
in
ٱلْبَحْرِ
l-baḥrithe sea
بِأَمْرِهِۦ ۖ
bi-amrihiby His command
وَسَخَّرَ
wasakharaand subjected
لَكُمُ
lakumufor you
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَ
l-anhārathe rivers
٣٢
(32)
It is Allāh who created the heavens and the earth and sent down rain from the sky and produced thereby some fruits as provision for you and subjected for you the ships to sail through the sea by His command and subjected for you the rivers.

وَسَخَّرَ
wasakharaAnd He subjected
لَكُمُ
lakumufor you
ٱلشَّمْسَ
l-shamsathe sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ
wal-qamaraand the moon
دَآئِبَيْنِ ۖ
dāibayniboth constantly pursuing their courses
وَسَخَّرَ
wasakharaand subjected
لَكُمُ
lakumufor you
ٱلَّيْلَ
al-laylathe night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
wal-nahāraand the day
٣٣
(33)
And He subjected for you the sun and the moon, continuous [in orbit], and subjected for you the night and the day.

وَءَاتَىٰكُم
waātākumAnd He gave you
مِّن
minof
كُلِّ
kulliall
مَا
what
سَأَلْتُمُوهُ ۚ
sa-altumūhuyou asked of Him
وَإِن
wa-inAnd if
تَعُدُّوا۟
taʿuddūyou count
نِعْمَتَ
niʿ'mata(the) Favor of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(the) Favor of Allah
لَا
not
تُحْصُوهَآ ۗ
tuḥ'ṣūhāyou will (be able to) count them
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ
l-insānathe mankind
لَظَلُومٌۭ
laẓalūmun(is) surely unjust
كَفَّارٌۭ
kaffārun(and) ungrateful
٣٤
(34)
And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor [i.e., blessings] of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful.

وَإِذْ
wa-idhAnd when
قَالَ
qālasaid
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
ib'rāhīmuIbrahim
رَبِّ
rabbiMy Lord
ٱجْعَلْ
ij'ʿalMake
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
ٱلْبَلَدَ
l-baladacity
ءَامِنًۭا
āminansafe
وَٱجْنُبْنِى
wa-uj'nub'nīand keep me away
وَبَنِىَّ
wabaniyyaand my sons
أَن
anthat
نَّعْبُدَ
naʿbudawe worship
ٱلْأَصْنَامَ
l-aṣnāmathe idols
٣٥
(35)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this city [i.e., Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.

رَبِّ
rabbiMy Lord
إِنَّهُنَّ
innahunnaIndeed, they
أَضْلَلْنَ
aḍlalnahave led astray
كَثِيرًۭا
kathīranmany
مِّنَ
minaamong
ٱلنَّاسِ ۖ
l-nāsithe mankind
فَمَن
famanSo whoever
تَبِعَنِى
tabiʿanīfollows me
فَإِنَّهُۥ
fa-innahuthen indeed, he
مِنِّى ۖ
minnī(is) of me
وَمَنْ
wamanand whoever
عَصَانِى
ʿaṣānīdisobeys me
فَإِنَّكَ
fa-innakathen indeed, You
غَفُورٌۭ
ghafūrun(are) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunMost Merciful
٣٦
(36)
My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people. So whoever follows me - then he is of me; and whoever disobeys me - indeed, You are [yet] Forgiving and Merciful.

أَسْكَنتُ
askantu[I] have settled
مِن
min(some) of
ذُرِّيَّتِى
dhurriyyatīmy offsprings
بِوَادٍ
biwādinin a valley
غَيْرِ
ghayrinot
ذِى
dhīwith
زَرْعٍ
zarʿincultivation
عِندَ
ʿindanear
بَيْتِكَ
baytikaYour Sacred House
ٱلْمُحَرَّمِ
l-muḥaramiYour Sacred House
رَبَّنَا
rabbanāour Lord
لِيُقِيمُوا۟
liyuqīmūThat they may establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalatathe prayers
فَٱجْعَلْ
fa-ij'ʿalSo make
أَفْـِٔدَةًۭ
afidatanhearts
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsithe men
تَهْوِىٓ
tahwīincline
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhimtowards them
وَٱرْزُقْهُم
wa-ur'zuq'humand provide them
مِّنَ
minawith
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
l-thamarātithe fruits
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَشْكُرُونَ
yashkurūnabe grateful
٣٧
(37)
Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.

إِنَّكَ

نُخْفِى
nukh'fīwe conceal
وَمَا
wamāand what
نُعْلِنُ ۗ
nuʿ'linuwe proclaim
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
يَخْفَىٰ
yakhfā(is) hidden
عَلَى
ʿalāfrom
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
مِن
minany
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinthing
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
وَلَا
walāand not
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāithe heaven
٣٨
(38)
Our Lord, indeed You know what we conceal and what we declare, and nothing is hidden from Allāh on the earth or in the heaven.

ٱلْحَمْدُ
al-ḥamduAll the Praise
لِلَّهِ
lillahi(is) for Allah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthe One Who
وَهَبَ
wahabahas granted
لِى
me
عَلَى
ʿalāin
ٱلْكِبَرِ
l-kibarithe old age
إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ
is'māʿīlaIshmael
وَإِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ
wa-is'ḥāqaand Isaac
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
رَبِّى
rabbīmy Lord
لَسَمِيعُ
lasamīʿu(is) All-Hearer
ٱلدُّعَآءِ
l-duʿāi(of) the prayer
٣٩
(39)
Praise to Allāh, who has granted to me in old age Ishmael and Isaac. Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication.

ٱجْعَلْنِى
ij'ʿalnīMake me
مُقِيمَ
muqīmaan establisher
ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
l-ṣalati(of) the prayer
وَمِن
waminand from
ذُرِّيَّتِى ۚ
dhurriyyatīmy offsprings
رَبَّنَا
rabbanāOur Lord
وَتَقَبَّلْ
wataqabbaland accept
دُعَآءِ
duʿāimy prayer
٤٠
(40)
My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.

رَبَّنَا

ٱغْفِرْ
igh'firForgive
لِى
me
وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ
waliwālidayyaand my parents
وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
walil'mu'minīnaand the believers
يَوْمَ
yawma(on) the Day
يَقُومُ
yaqūmuwill (be) established
ٱلْحِسَابُ
l-ḥisābuthe account
٤١
(41)
Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established."

وَلَا
walāAnd (do) not
تَحْسَبَنَّ
taḥsabannathink
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha(that) Allah
غَـٰفِلًا
ghāfilan(is) unaware
عَمَّا
ʿammāof what
يَعْمَلُ
yaʿmaludo
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۚ
l-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
إِنَّمَا
innamāOnly
يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ
yu-akhiruhumHe gives them respite
لِيَوْمٍۢ
liyawminto a Day
تَشْخَصُ
tashkhaṣuwill stare
فِيهِ
fīhiin it
ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ
l-abṣāruthe eyes
٤٢
(42)
And never think that Allāh is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them [i.e., their account] for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror].

مُهْطِعِينَ
muh'ṭiʿīnaRacing ahead
مُقْنِعِى
muq'niʿīraised up
رُءُوسِهِمْ
ruūsihimtheir heads
لَا
not
يَرْتَدُّ
yartaddureturning
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhimtowards them
طَرْفُهُمْ ۖ
ṭarfuhumtheir gaze
وَأَفْـِٔدَتُهُمْ
wa-afidatuhumand their hearts
هَوَآءٌۭ
hawāon(are) empty
٤٣
(43)
Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void.

وَأَنذِرِ
wa-andhiriAnd warn
ٱلنَّاسَ
l-nāsathe mankind
يَوْمَ
yawma(of) a Day
يَأْتِيهِمُ
yatīhimu(when) will come to them
ٱلْعَذَابُ
l-ʿadhābuthe punishment
فَيَقُولُ
fayaqūluthen will say
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟
ẓalamūdid wrong
رَبَّنَآ
rabbanāOur Lord
أَخِّرْنَآ
akhir'nāRespite us
إِلَىٰٓ
ilāfor
أَجَلٍۢ
ajalina term
قَرِيبٍۢ
qarībinshort
نُّجِبْ
nujibwe will answer
دَعْوَتَكَ
daʿwatakaYour call
وَنَتَّبِعِ
wanattabiʿiand we will follow
ٱلرُّسُلَ ۗ
l-rusulathe Messengers
أَوَلَمْ
awalamHad not
تَكُونُوٓا۟
takūnūyou
أَقْسَمْتُم
aqsamtumsworn
مِّن
minbefore
قَبْلُ
qablubefore
مَا
not
لَكُم
lakumfor you
مِّن
minany
زَوَالٍۢ
zawālinend
٤٤
(44)
And, [O Muḥammad], warn the people of a Day when the punishment will come to them and those who did wrong will say, "Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers." [But it will be said], "Had you not sworn, before, that for you there would be no cessation?

wasakantumAnd you dwelt
فِى

مَسَـٰكِنِ
masākinithe dwellings
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(of) those who
ظَلَمُوٓا۟
ẓalamūwronged
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahumthemselves
وَتَبَيَّنَ
watabayyanaand it had become clear
لَكُمْ
lakumto you
كَيْفَ
kayfahow
فَعَلْنَا
faʿalnāWe dealt
بِهِمْ
bihimwith them
وَضَرَبْنَا
waḍarabnāand We put forth
لَكُمُ
lakumufor you
ٱلْأَمْثَالَ
l-amthālathe examples
٤٥
(45)
And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you [many] examples."

وَقَدْ
waqadAnd indeed
مَكَرُوا۟
makarūthey planned
مَكْرَهُمْ
makrahumtheir plan
وَعِندَ
waʿindabut with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
مَكْرُهُمْ
makruhum(was) their plan
وَإِن
wa-ineven if
كَانَ
kānawas
مَكْرُهُمْ
makruhumtheir plan
لِتَزُولَ
litazūlathat should be moved
مِنْهُ
min'huby it
ٱلْجِبَالُ
l-jibāluthe mountains
٤٦
(46)
And they had planned their plan, but with Allāh is [recorded] their plan, even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains.

فَلَا
falāSo (do) not
تَحْسَبَنَّ
taḥsabannathink
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha(that) Allah
مُخْلِفَ
mukh'lifawill fail
وَعْدِهِۦ
waʿdihi(to) keep His Promise
رُسُلَهُۥٓ ۗ
rusulahu(to) His Messengers
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
عَزِيزٌۭ
ʿazīzun(is) All-Mighty
ذُو
dhūOwner (of) Retribution
ٱنتِقَامٍۢ
intiqāminOwner (of) Retribution
٤٧
(47)
So never think that Allāh will fail in His promise to His messengers. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution.

تُبَدَّلُ
tubaddaluwill be changed
ٱلْأَرْضُ
l-arḍuthe earth
غَيْرَ
ghayra(to) other (than)
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ ۖ
wal-samāwātuand the heavens
وَبَرَزُوا۟
wabarazūand they will come forth
لِلَّهِ
lillahibefore Allah
ٱلْوَٰحِدِ
l-wāḥidithe One
ٱلْقَهَّارِ
l-qahārithe Irresistible
٤٨
(48)
[It will be] on the Day the earth will be replaced by another earth, and the heavens [as well], and they [i.e., all creatures] will come out before Allāh, the One, the Prevailing,

وَتَرَى
watarāAnd you will see
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīnathe criminals
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
yawma-idhin(on) that Day
مُّقَرَّنِينَ
muqarranīnabound together
فِى
in
ٱلْأَصْفَادِ
l-aṣfādithe chains
٤٩
(49)
And you will see the criminals that Day bound together in irons,

سَرَابِيلُهُم
sarābīluhumTheir garments
مِّن
minof
قَطِرَانٍۢ
qaṭirānintar
وَتَغْشَىٰ
wataghshāand will cover
وُجُوهَهُمُ
wujūhahumutheir faces
ٱلنَّارُ
l-nāruthe Fire
٥٠
(50)
Their garments of liquid pitch and their faces covered by the Fire

لِيَجْزِىَ
liyajziyaSo that Allah may recompense
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuSo that Allah may recompense
كُلَّ
kullaeach
نَفْسٍۢ
nafsinsoul
مَّا
(for) what
كَسَبَتْ ۚ
kasabatit earned
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
سَرِيعُ
sarīʿu(is) Swift
ٱلْحِسَابِ
l-ḥisābi(in) the reckoning
٥١
(51)
So that Allāh will recompense every soul for what it earned. Indeed, Allāh is swift in account.

هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
بَلَـٰغٌۭ
balāghun(is) a Message
لِّلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsifor the mankind
وَلِيُنذَرُوا۟
waliyundharūthat they may be warned
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
وَلِيَعْلَمُوٓا۟
waliyaʿlamūand that they may know
أَنَّمَا
annamāthat only
هُوَ
huwaHe
إِلَـٰهٌۭ
ilāhun(is) One God
وَٰحِدٌۭ
wāḥidun(is) One God
وَلِيَذَّكَّرَ
waliyadhakkaraand that may take heed
أُو۟لُوا۟
ulūmen
ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
l-albābi(of) understanding
٥٢
(52)
This [Qur’ān] is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded.
