ذِكْرُ
dhik'ru(A) mention
رَحْمَتِ
raḥmati(of the) Mercy
رَبِّكَ
rabbika(of) your Lord
عَبْدَهُۥ
ʿabdahu(to) His servant
زَكَرِيَّآ

(2)
[This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah

إِذْ
idhWhen
نَادَىٰ
nādāhe called
رَبَّهُۥ
rabbahu(to) his Lord
نِدَآءً
nidāana call
خَفِيًّۭا
khafiyyansecret
٣
(3)
When he called to his Lord a private call [i.e., supplication].

قَالَ
qālaHe said
رَبِّ
rabbiMy Lord
إِنِّى
innīIndeed, [I]
وَهَنَ
wahana(have) weakened
ٱلْعَظْمُ
l-ʿaẓmumy bones
مِنِّى
minnīmy bones
وَٱشْتَعَلَ
wa-ish'taʿalaand flared
ٱلرَّأْسُ
l-rasu(my) head
شَيْبًۭا
shayban(with) white
وَلَمْ
walamand not
أَكُنۢ
akunI have been
بِدُعَآئِكَ
biduʿāikain (my) supplication (to) You
رَبِّ
rabbimy Lord
شَقِيًّۭا
shaqiyyanunblessed
٤
(4)
He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy [i.e., disappointed].

وَإِنِّى
wa-innīAnd indeed, I
خِفْتُ
khif'tu[I] fear
ٱلْمَوَٰلِىَ
l-mawāliyathe successors
مِن
minafter me
وَرَآءِى
warāīafter me
وَكَانَتِ
wakānatiand is
ٱمْرَأَتِى
im'ra-atīmy wife
عَاقِرًۭا
ʿāqiranbarren
فَهَبْ
fahabSo give
لِى
[to] me
مِن
minfrom
لَّدُنكَ
ladunkaYourself
وَلِيًّۭا
waliyyanan heir
٥
(5)
And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir

يَرِثُنِى
yarithunīWho will inherit me
وَيَرِثُ
wayarithuand inherit
مِنْ
minfrom
ءَالِ
āli(the) family
يَعْقُوبَ ۖ
yaʿqūba(of) Yaqub
وَٱجْعَلْهُ
wa-ij'ʿalhuAnd make him
رَبِّ
rabbimy Lord
رَضِيًّۭا
raḍiyyanpleasing
٦
(6)
Who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]."

يَـٰزَكَرِيَّآ
yāzakariyyāO Zakariya
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, We
نُبَشِّرُكَ
nubashiruka[We] give you glad tidings
بِغُلَـٰمٍ
bighulāminof a boy
ٱسْمُهُۥ
us'muhuhis name
يَحْيَىٰ
yaḥyā(will be) Yahya
لَمْ
lamnot
نَجْعَل
najʿalWe (have) assigned
لَّهُۥ
lahu[for] it
مِن
minbefore
قَبْلُ
qablubefore
سَمِيًّۭا
samiyyan(this) name
٧
(7)
[He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name."

قَالَ

رَبِّ
rabbiMy Lord
أَنَّىٰ
annāHow
يَكُونُ
yakūnucan
لِى
I have
غُلَـٰمٌۭ
ghulāmuna boy
وَكَانَتِ
wakānatiwhile is
ٱمْرَأَتِى
im'ra-atīmy wife
عَاقِرًۭا
ʿāqiranbarren
وَقَدْ
waqadand indeed
بَلَغْتُ
balaghtuI have reached
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلْكِبَرِ
l-kibarithe old age
عِتِيًّۭا
ʿitiyyanextreme
٨
(8)
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?"

قَالَ
qālaHe said
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālikaThus
قَالَ
qālasaid
رَبُّكَ
rabbukayour Lord
هُوَ
huwa'It
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayya(is) easy for Me
هَيِّنٌۭ
hayyinun(is) easy for Me
وَقَدْ
waqadand certainly
خَلَقْتُكَ
khalaqtukaI (have) created you
مِن
minbefore
قَبْلُ
qablubefore
وَلَمْ
walamwhile not
تَكُ
takuyou were
شَيْـًۭٔا
shayananything.'
٩
(9)
[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.'"

قَالَ
qālaHe said
رَبِّ
rabbiMy Lord
ٱجْعَل
ij'ʿalMake
لِّىٓ
for me
ءَايَةًۭ ۚ
āyatana sign
قَالَ
qālaHe said
ءَايَتُكَ
āyatukaYour sign
أَلَّا
allā(is) that not
تُكَلِّمَ
tukallimayou will speak
ٱلنَّاسَ
l-nāsa(to) the people
ثَلَـٰثَ
thalātha(for) three
لَيَالٍۢ
layālinnights
سَوِيًّۭا
sawiyyansound
١٠
(10)
[Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound."

فَخَرَجَ
fakharajaThen he came out
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāto
قَوْمِهِۦ
qawmihihis people
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْمِحْرَابِ
l-miḥ'rābithe prayer chamber
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ
fa-awḥāand he signaled
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhimto them
أَن
anto
سَبِّحُوا۟
sabbiḥūglorify (Allah)
بُكْرَةًۭ
buk'ratan(in) the morning
وَعَشِيًّۭا
waʿashiyyanand (in) the evening
١١
(11)
So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allāh] in the morning and afternoon.

يَـٰيَحْيَىٰ
yāyaḥyāO Yahya
خُذِ
khudhiHold
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitābathe Scripture
بِقُوَّةٍۢ ۖ
biquwwatinwith strength
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ
waātaynāhuAnd We gave him
ٱلْحُكْمَ
l-ḥuk'ma[the] wisdom
صَبِيًّۭا
ṣabiyyan(when he was) a child
١٢
(12)
[Allāh said], "O John, take the Scripture [i.e., adhere to it] with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy

وَحَنَانًۭا
waḥanānanAnd affection
مِّن
minfrom
لَّدُنَّا
ladunnāUs
وَزَكَوٰةًۭ ۖ
wazakatanand purity
وَكَانَ
wakānaand he was
تَقِيًّۭا
taqiyyanrighteous
١٣
(13)
And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allāh

وَبَرًّۢا
wabarranAnd dutiful
بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ
biwālidayhito his parents
وَلَمْ
walamand not
يَكُن
yakunhe was
جَبَّارًا
jabbārana tyrant
عَصِيًّۭا
ʿaṣiyyandisobedient
١٤
(14)
And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant.

وَسَلَـٰمٌ
wasalāmunAnd peace be
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhiupon him
يَوْمَ
yawma(the) day
وُلِدَ
wulidahe was born
وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaand (the) day
يَمُوتُ
yamūtuhe dies
وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaand (the) day
يُبْعَثُ
yub'ʿathuhe will be raised
حَيًّۭا
ḥayyanalive
١٥
(15)
And peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive.

وَٱذْكُرْ
wa-udh'kurAnd mention
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābithe Book
مَرْيَمَ
maryamaMaryam
إِذِ
idhiwhen
ٱنتَبَذَتْ
intabadhatshe withdrew
مِنْ
minfrom
أَهْلِهَا
ahlihāher family
مَكَانًۭا
makānan(to) a place
شَرْقِيًّۭا
sharqiyyaneastern
١٦
(16)
And mention, [O Muḥammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.

فَٱتَّخَذَتْ
fa-ittakhadhatThen she took
مِن
minfrom them
دُونِهِمْ
dūnihimfrom them
حِجَابًۭا
ḥijābana screen
فَأَرْسَلْنَآ
fa-arsalnāThen We sent
إِلَيْهَا
ilayhāto her
رُوحَنَا
rūḥanāOur Spirit
فَتَمَثَّلَ
fatamathalathen he assumed for her the likeness
لَهَا
lahāthen he assumed for her the likeness
بَشَرًۭا
basharan(of) a man
سَوِيًّۭا
sawiyyanwell-proportioned
١٧
(17)
And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel [i.e., Gabriel], and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.

قَالَتْ
qālatShe said
إِنِّىٓ
innīIndeed, I
أَعُوذُ
aʿūdhu[I] seek refuge
بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
bil-raḥmāniwith the Most Gracious
مِنكَ
minkafrom you
إِن
inif
كُنتَ
kuntayou are
تَقِيًّۭا
taqiyyanGod fearing
١٨
(18)
She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allāh."

قَالَ
qālaHe said
إِنَّمَآ
innamāOnly
أَنَا۠
anāI am
رَسُولُ
rasūlua Messenger
رَبِّكِ
rabbiki(from) your Lord
لِأَهَبَ
li-ahabathat I (may) bestow
لَكِ
lakion you
غُلَـٰمًۭا
ghulāmana son
زَكِيًّۭا
zakiyyanpure
١٩
(19)
He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy [i.e., son]."

قَالَتْ
qālatShe said
أَنَّىٰ
annāHow
يَكُونُ
yakūnucan be
لِى
for me
غُلَـٰمٌۭ
ghulāmuna son
وَلَمْ
walamwhen not
يَمْسَسْنِى
yamsasnīhas touched me
بَشَرٌۭ
basharuna man
وَلَمْ
walamand not
أَكُ
akuI am
بَغِيًّۭا
baghiyyanunchaste
٢٠
(20)
She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?"

قَالَ
qālaHe said
كَذَٰلِكِ
kadhālikiThus
قَالَ
qālasaid
رَبُّكِ
rabbukiyour Lord
هُوَ
huwa'It
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayya(is) for Me
هَيِّنٌۭ ۖ
hayyinuneasy
وَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓ
walinajʿalahuand so that We will make him
ءَايَةًۭ
āyatana sign
لِّلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsifor the mankind
وَرَحْمَةًۭ
waraḥmatanand a Mercy
مِّنَّا ۚ
minnāfrom Us
وَكَانَ
wakānaAnd (it) is
أَمْرًۭا
amrana matter
مَّقْضِيًّۭا
maqḍiyyandecreed.'
٢١
(21)
He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.'"

۞ فَحَمَلَتْهُ
faḥamalathuSo she conceived him
فَٱنتَبَذَتْ
fa-intabadhatand she withdrew
بِهِۦ
bihiwith him
مَكَانًۭا
makānan(to) a place
قَصِيًّۭا
qaṣiyyanremote
٢٢
(22)
So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.

فَأَجَآءَهَا
fa-ajāahāThen drove her
ٱلْمَخَاضُ
l-makhāḍuthe pains of childbirth
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
جِذْعِ
jidh'ʿi(the) trunk
ٱلنَّخْلَةِ
l-nakhlati(of) the date-palm
قَالَتْ
qālatShe said
يَـٰلَيْتَنِى
yālaytanīO! I wish
مِتُّ
mittuI (had) died
قَبْلَ
qablabefore
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
وَكُنتُ
wakuntuand I was
نَسْيًۭا
nasyan(in) oblivion
مَّنسِيًّۭا
mansiyyanforgotten
٢٣
(23)
And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."

فَنَادَىٰهَا
fanādāhāSo cried to her
مِن
minfrom
تَحْتِهَآ
taḥtihābeneath her
أَلَّا
allāThat (do) not
تَحْزَنِى
taḥzanīgrieve
قَدْ
qadverily
جَعَلَ
jaʿala(has) placed
رَبُّكِ
rabbukiyour Lord
تَحْتَكِ
taḥtakibeneath you
سَرِيًّۭا
sariyyana stream
٢٤
(24)
But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.

وَهُزِّىٓ
wahuzzīAnd shake
إِلَيْكِ
ilaykitowards you
بِجِذْعِ
bijidh'ʿi(the) trunk
ٱلنَّخْلَةِ
l-nakhlati(of) the date-palm
تُسَـٰقِطْ
tusāqiṭit will drop
عَلَيْكِ
ʿalaykiupon you
رُطَبًۭا
ruṭabanfresh dates
جَنِيًّۭا
janiyyanripe
٢٥
(25)
And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.

فَكُلِى
fakulīSo eat
وَٱشْرَبِى
wa-ish'rabīand drink
وَقَرِّى
waqarrīand cool
عَيْنًۭا ۖ
ʿaynan(your) eyes
فَإِمَّا
fa-immāAnd if
تَرَيِنَّ
tarayinnayou see
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْبَشَرِ
l-basharihuman being
أَحَدًۭا
aḥadananyone
فَقُولِىٓ
faqūlīthen say
إِنِّى
innīIndeed, I
نَذَرْتُ
nadhartu[I] have vowed
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmānito the Most Gracious
صَوْمًۭا
ṣawmana fast
فَلَنْ
falanso not
أُكَلِّمَ
ukallimaI will speak
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawmatoday
إِنسِيًّۭا
insiyyan(to any) human being
٢٦
(26)
So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.'"

فَأَتَتْ
fa-atatThen she came
بِهِۦ
bihiwith him
قَوْمَهَا
qawmahā(to) her people
تَحْمِلُهُۥ ۖ
taḥmiluhucarrying him
قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
يَـٰمَرْيَمُ
yāmaryamuO Maryam
لَقَدْ
laqadCertainly
جِئْتِ
ji'tiyou (have) brought
شَيْـًۭٔا
shayanan amazing thing
فَرِيًّۭا
fariyyanan amazing thing
٢٧
(27)
Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.

يَـٰٓأُخْتَ
yāukh'taO sister
هَـٰرُونَ
hārūna(of) Harun
مَا
Not
كَانَ
kānawas
أَبُوكِ
abūkiyour father
ٱمْرَأَ
im'ra-aan evil man
سَوْءٍۢ
sawinan evil man
وَمَا
wamāand not
كَانَتْ
kānatwas
أُمُّكِ
ummukiyour mother
بَغِيًّۭا
baghiyyanunchaste
٢٨
(28)
O sister [i.e., descendant] of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."

فَأَشَارَتْ
fa-ashāratThen she pointed
إِلَيْهِ ۖ
ilayhito him
قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
كَيْفَ
kayfaHow
نُكَلِّمُ
nukallimu(can) we speak
مَن
man(to one) who
كَانَ
kānais
فِى
in
ٱلْمَهْدِ
l-mahdithe cradle
صَبِيًّۭا
ṣabiyyana child
٢٩
(29)
So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?"

قَالَ
qālaHe said
إِنِّى
innīIndeed, I am
عَبْدُ
ʿabdua slave
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
ءَاتَىٰنِىَ
ātāniyaHe gave me
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitābathe Scripture
وَجَعَلَنِى
wajaʿalanīand made me
نَبِيًّۭا
nabiyyana Prophet
٣٠
(30)
[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allāh. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.

وَجَعَلَنِى
wajaʿalanīAnd He (has) made me
مُبَارَكًا
mubārakanblessed
أَيْنَ
aynawherever
مَا
wherever
كُنتُ
kuntuI am
وَأَوْصَـٰنِى
wa-awṣānīand has enjoined (on) me
بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
bil-ṣalati[of] the prayer
وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ
wal-zakatiand zakah
مَا
as long as I am
دُمْتُ
dum'tuas long as I am
حَيًّۭا
ḥayyanalive
٣١
(31)
And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakāh as long as I remain alive

وَبَرًّۢا
wabarranAnd dutiful
بِوَٰلِدَتِى
biwālidatīto my mother
وَلَمْ
walamand not
يَجْعَلْنِى
yajʿalnīHe (has) made me
جَبَّارًۭا
jabbāraninsolent
شَقِيًّۭا
shaqiyyanunblessed
٣٢
(32)
And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.

وَٱلسَّلَـٰمُ
wal-salāmuAnd peace (be)
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayyaon me
يَوْمَ
yawma(the) day
وُلِدتُّ
wulidttuI was born
وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaand (the) day
أَمُوتُ
amūtuI will die
وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaand (the) Day
أُبْعَثُ
ub'ʿathuI will be raised
حَيًّۭا
ḥayyanalive
٣٣
(33)
And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."

ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikaThat
عِيسَى
ʿīsā(was) Isa
ٱبْنُ
ub'nu(the) son
مَرْيَمَ ۚ
maryama(of) Maryam
قَوْلَ
qawlaa statement
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqi(of) truth
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthat which
فِيهِ
fīhiabout it
يَمْتَرُونَ
yamtarūnathey dispute
٣٤
(34)
That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute.

مَا
Not
كَانَ
kāna(it) is
لِلَّهِ
lillahifor Allah
أَن
anthat
يَتَّخِذَ
yattakhidhaHe should take
مِن
minany son
وَلَدٍۢ ۖ
waladinany son
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥٓ ۚ
sub'ḥānahuGlory be to Him
إِذَا
idhāWhen
قَضَىٰٓ
qaḍāHe decrees
أَمْرًۭا
amrana matter
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamāthen only
يَقُولُ
yaqūluHe says
لَهُۥ
lahuto it
كُن
kunBe
فَيَكُونُ
fayakūnuand it is
٣٥
(35)
It is not [befitting] for Allāh to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.

وَإِنَّ
wa-innaAnd indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
رَبِّى
rabbī(is) my Lord
وَرَبُّكُمْ
warabbukumand your Lord
فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ
fa-uʿ'budūhuso worship Him
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
صِرَٰطٌۭ
ṣirāṭun(is) a path
مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭ
mus'taqīmunstraight
٣٦
(36)
[Jesus said], "And indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path."

فَٱخْتَلَفَ
fa-ikh'talafaBut differed
ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
l-aḥzābuthe sects
مِنۢ
minfrom among them
بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ
baynihimfrom among them
فَوَيْلٌۭ
fawaylunso woe
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīnato those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieve
مِن
minfrom
مَّشْهَدِ
mashhadi(the) witnessing
يَوْمٍ
yawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍ
ʿaẓīmingreat
٣٧
(37)
Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day.

أَسْمِعْ
asmiʿHow they will hear
بِهِمْ
bihimHow they will hear
وَأَبْصِرْ
wa-abṣirand how (they will) see
يَوْمَ
yawma(the) Day
يَأْتُونَنَا ۖ
yatūnanāthey will come to Us
لَـٰكِنِ
lākinibut
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawmatoday
فِى
(are) in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ
ḍalālinerror
مُّبِينٍۢ
mubīninclear
٣٨
(38)
How [clearly] they will hear and see the Day they come to Us, but the wrongdoers today are in clear error.

وَأَنذِرْهُمْ
wa-andhir'humAnd warn them
يَوْمَ
yawma(of the) Day
ٱلْحَسْرَةِ
l-ḥasrati(of) the Regret
إِذْ
idhwhen
قُضِىَ
quḍiyahas been decided
ٱلْأَمْرُ
l-amruthe matter
وَهُمْ
wahumAnd they
فِى
(are) in
غَفْلَةٍۢ
ghaflatinheedlessness
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
٣٩
(39)
And warn them, [O Muḥammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe.

innāIndeed, We
نَحْنُ
naḥnu[We]
نَرِثُ
narithu[We] will inherit
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍathe earth
وَمَنْ
wamanand whoever
عَلَيْهَا
ʿalayhā(is) on it
وَإِلَيْنَا
wa-ilaynāand to Us
يُرْجَعُونَ
yur'jaʿūnathey will be returned

(40)
Indeed, it is We who will inherit the earth and whoever is on it, and to Us they will be returned.

ṣiddīqana man of truth
نَّبِيًّا

And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

عَنكَ
ʿanka[to] you
شَيْـًۭٔا
shayan(in) anything

(42)
[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all?

يَـٰٓأَبَتِ

إِنِّى
innīIndeed, [I]
قَدْ
qadverily
جَآءَنِى
jāanī(has) come to me
مِنَ

ٱلْعِلْمِ

مَا
what
لَمْ
lamnot
يَأْتِكَ
yatikacame to you
فَٱتَّبِعْنِىٓ
fa-ittabiʿ'nīso follow me
أَهْدِكَ
ahdikaI will guide you
صِرَٰطًۭا
ṣirāṭan(to) the path
سَوِيًّۭا
sawiyyaneven
٤٣
(43)
O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path.

يَـٰٓأَبَتِ

لَا
(Do) not
تَعْبُدِ
taʿbudiworship
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ ۖ
l-shayṭānathe Shaitaan
إِنَّ

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ
l-shayṭānathe Shaitaan
كَانَ
kānais
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmānito the Most Gracious
عَصِيًّۭا
ʿaṣiyyandisobedient
٤٤
(44)
O my father, do not worship [i.e., obey] Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient.

يَـٰٓأَبَتِ
yāabatiO my father
إِنِّىٓ
innīIndeed, I
أَخَافُ
akhāfu[I] fear
أَن
anthat
يَمَسَّكَ
yamassakawill touch you
عَذَابٌۭ
ʿadhābuna punishment
مِّنَ
minafrom
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
فَتَكُونَ
fatakūnaso you would be
لِلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
lilshayṭānito the Shaitaan
وَلِيًّۭا
waliyyana friend
٤٥
(45)
O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]."

qālaHe said
أَرَاغِبٌ
arāghibunDo you hate
أَنتَ
antaDo you hate
عَنْ
ʿan(from)
ءَالِهَتِى
ālihatīmy gods
يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ۖ
yāib'rāhīmuO Ibrahim
لَئِن
la-inSurely, if
لَّمْ
lamnot
تَنتَهِ
tantahiyou desist
لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ ۖ
la-arjumannakasurely, I will stone you
وَٱهْجُرْنِى
wa-uh'jur'nīso leave me
مَلِيًّۭا
maliyyan(for) a prolonged time
٤٦
(46)
[His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time."

قَالَ
qālaHe said
سَلَـٰمٌ
salāmunPeace (be)
عَلَيْكَ ۖ
ʿalaykaon you
سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ
sa-astaghfiruI will ask forgiveness
لَكَ
lakafor you
رَبِّىٓ ۖ
rabbī(from) my Lord
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, He
كَانَ
kānais
بِى
to me
حَفِيًّۭا
ḥafiyyanEver Gracious
٤٧
(47)
[Abraham] said, "Peace [i.e., safety] will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me.

وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ
wa-aʿtazilukumAnd I will leave you
وَمَا
wamāand what
تَدْعُونَ
tadʿūnayou invoke
مِن
minbesides
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
وَأَدْعُوا۟
wa-adʿūand I will invoke
رَبِّى
rabbīmy Lord
عَسَىٰٓ
ʿasāMay be
أَلَّآ
allāthat not
أَكُونَ
akūnaI will be
بِدُعَآءِ
biduʿāiin invocation
رَبِّى
rabbī(to) my Lord
شَقِيًّۭا
shaqiyyanunblessed
٤٨
(48)
And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allāh and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy [i.e., disappointed]."

فَلَمَّا
falammāSo when
ٱعْتَزَلَهُمْ
iʿ'tazalahumhe left them
وَمَا
wamāand what
يَعْبُدُونَ
yaʿbudūnathey worshipped
مِن
minbesides Allah
دُونِ
dūnibesides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahibesides Allah
وَهَبْنَا
wahabnā[and] We bestowed
لَهُۥٓ
lahu[to] him
إِسْحَـٰقَ
is'ḥāqaIsaac
وَيَعْقُوبَ ۖ
wayaʿqūbaand Yaqub
وَكُلًّۭا
wakullanand each (of them)
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnāWe made
نَبِيًّۭا
nabiyyana Prophet
٤٩
(49)
So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allāh, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet.

وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnāAnd We bestowed
لَهُم
lahumto them
مِّن

رَّحْمَتِنَا
raḥmatināOur Mercy
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnāand We made

lahumfor them
لِسَانَ
lisānaa truthful mention
صِدْقٍ
ṣid'qina truthful mention
عَلِيًّۭا
ʿaliyyanhigh
٥٠
(50)
And We gave them of Our mercy, and We made for them a mention [i.e., reputation] of high honor.

مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ

إِنَّهُۥ

مُخْلَصًۭا
mukh'laṣanchosen
وَكَانَ
wakānaand was
رَسُولًۭا
rasūlana Messenger
نَّبِيًّۭا
nabiyyana Prophet

(51)
And mention in the Book, Moses. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ
wanādaynāhuAnd We called him
مِن
minfrom
جَانِبِ
jānibi(the) side
ٱلطُّورِ
l-ṭūri(of) the Mount
ٱلْأَيْمَنِ
l-aymanithe right
وَقَرَّبْنَـٰهُ
waqarrabnāhuand brought him near
نَجِيًّۭا
najiyyan(for) conversation
٥٢
(52)
And We called him from the side of the mount at [his] right and brought him near, confiding [to him].

وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnāAnd We bestowed
لَهُۥ
lahu[to] him
مِن
minfrom
رَّحْمَتِنَآ
raḥmatināOur Mercy
أَخَاهُ

hārūnaHarun
نَبِيًّۭا
nabiyyana Prophet
٥٣
(53)
And We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Aaron as a prophet.

ٱلْوَعْدِ
l-waʿdi(to his) promise
وَكَانَ
wakānaand was
رَسُولًۭا
rasūlana Messenger
نَّبِيًّۭا
nabiyyana Prophet

(54)
And mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

wakānaAnd he used
يَأْمُرُ
yamuru(to) enjoin
أَهْلَهُۥ
ahlahu(on) his people
بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
bil-ṣalatithe prayer
وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ
wal-zakatiand zakah
وَكَانَ
wakānaand was
عِندَ
ʿindanear
رَبِّهِۦ
rabbihihis Lord
مَرْضِيًّۭا
marḍiyyanpleasing
٥٥
(55)
And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakāh and was to his Lord pleasing [i.e., accepted by Him].

إِدْرِيسَ ۚ

نَّبِيًّۭا

And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

وَرَفَعْنَـٰهُ
warafaʿnāhuAnd We raised him
مَكَانًا
makānan(to) a position
عَلِيًّا

And We raised him to a high station.

ulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(were) the ones whom
أَنْعَمَ
anʿamaAllah bestowed favor
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah bestowed favor
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhimupon them
مِّنَ
minafrom (among)
ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ
l-nabiyīnathe Prophets
مِن
minof
ذُرِّيَّةِ
dhurriyyati(the) offspring
ءَادَمَ
ādama(of) Adam
وَمِمَّنْ
wamimmanand of those
حَمَلْنَا
ḥamalnāWe carried
مَعَ
maʿawith
نُوحٍۢ
nūḥinNuh
وَمِن
waminand of
ذُرِّيَّةِ
dhurriyyati(the) offspring
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahim
وَإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
wa-is'rāīlaand Israel
وَمِمَّنْ
wamimmanand of (those) whom
هَدَيْنَا
hadaynāWe guided
وَٱجْتَبَيْنَآ ۚ
wa-ij'tabaynāand We chose
إِذَا
idhāWhen
تُتْلَىٰ
tut'lāwere recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimto them
ءَايَـٰتُ
āyātu(the) Verses
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni(of) the Most Gracious
خَرُّوا۟
kharrūthey fell
سُجَّدًۭا
sujjadanprostrating
وَبُكِيًّۭا ۩
wabukiyyanand weeping
٥٨
(58)
Those were the ones upon whom Allāh bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel [i.e., Jacob], and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping.

۞ فَخَلَفَ
fakhalafaThen succeeded
مِنۢ
minafter them
بَعْدِهِمْ
baʿdihimafter them
خَلْفٌ
khalfunsuccessors
أَضَاعُوا۟
aḍāʿūwho neglected
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalatathe prayer
وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟
wa-ittabaʿūand they followed
ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ ۖ
l-shahawātithe lusts
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfaso soon
يَلْقَوْنَ
yalqawnathey will meet
غَيًّا
ghayyanevil
٥٩
(59)
But there came after them successors [i.e., later generations] who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil -

إِلَّا
illāExcept
مَن
man(one) who
تَابَ
tābarepented
وَءَامَنَ
waāmanaand believed
وَعَمِلَ
waʿamilaand did
صَـٰلِحًۭا
ṣāliḥangood (deeds)
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāikaThen those
يَدْخُلُونَ
yadkhulūnawill enter
ٱلْجَنَّةَ
l-janataParadise
وَلَا
walāand not
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūnathey will be wronged
شَيْـًۭٔا
shayan(in) anything
٦٠
(60)
Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all.

جَنَّـٰتِ
jannātiGardens
عَدْنٍ
ʿadnin(of) Eden
ٱلَّتِى
allatīwhich
وَعَدَ
waʿadapromised
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
عِبَادَهُۥ
ʿibādahu(to) His slaves
بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۚ
bil-ghaybiin the unseen
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, [it]
كَانَ
kānais
وَعْدُهُۥ
waʿduhuHis promise
مَأْتِيًّۭا
matiyyansure to come
٦١
(61)
[Therein are] gardens of perpetual residence which the Most Merciful has promised His servants in the unseen. Indeed, His promise has ever been eminent.

Not
يَسْمَعُونَ
yasmaʿūnathey will hear
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
لَغْوًا
laghwanvain talk
إِلَّا
illābut
سَلَـٰمًۭا ۖ
salāmanpeace
وَلَهُمْ
walahumAnd for them
رِزْقُهُمْ
riz'quhum(is) their provision
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
بُكْرَةًۭ
buk'ratanmorning
وَعَشِيًّۭا
waʿashiyyanand evening
٦٢
(62)
They will not hear therein any ill speech - only [greetings of] peace - and they will have their provision therein, morning and afternoon.

تِلْكَ
til'kaThis
ٱلْجَنَّةُ
l-janatu(is) Paradise
ٱلَّتِى
allatīwhich
نُورِثُ
nūrithuWe give (as) inheritance
مِنْ
min[of] (to)
عِبَادِنَا
ʿibādināOur slaves
مَن
man(the one) who
كَانَ
kānais
تَقِيًّۭا
taqiyyanrighteous
٦٣
(63)
That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allāh.

نَتَنَزَّلُ
natanazzaluwe descend
إِلَّا
illāexcept
بِأَمْرِ
bi-amriby (the) Command
رَبِّكَ ۖ
rabbika(of) your Lord

lahuTo Him (belongs)
مَا
what
بَيْنَ
bayna(is) before us
أَيْدِينَا
aydīnā(is) before us
وَمَا
wamāand what
خَلْفَنَا
khalfanā(is) behind us
وَمَا
wamāand what
بَيْنَ
bayna(is) between
ذَٰلِكَ ۚ
dhālikathat
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
كَانَ
kānais
رَبُّكَ
rabbukayour Lord
نَسِيًّۭا
nasiyyanforgetful
٦٤
(64)
[Gabriel said], "And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs that before us and that behind us and what is in between. And never is your Lord forgetful -

رَّبُّ
rabbuLord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍiand the earth
وَمَا
wamāand whatever
بَيْنَهُمَا
baynahumā(is) between both of them
فَٱعْبُدْهُ
fa-uʿ'bud'huso worship Him
وَٱصْطَبِرْ
wa-iṣ'ṭabirand be constant
لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِۦ ۚ
liʿibādatihiin His worship
هَلْ
halDo
تَعْلَمُ
taʿlamuyou know
لَهُۥ
lahufor Him
سَمِيًّۭا
samiyyanany similarity
٦٥
(65)
Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?"

وَيَقُولُ
wayaqūluAnd says
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu[the] man
أَءِذَا
a-idhāWhat! When
مَا
What! When
مِتُّ
mittuI am dead
لَسَوْفَ
lasawfasurely will
أُخْرَجُ
ukh'rajuI be brought forth
حَيًّا
ḥayyanalive
٦٦
(66)
And man [i.e., the disbeliever] says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive?"

أَوَلَا
awalāDoes not
يَذْكُرُ
yadhkururemember
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu[the] man
أَنَّا
annāthat We
خَلَقْنَـٰهُ
khalaqnāhuWe created him

minbefore
قَبْلُ
qablubefore
وَلَمْ
walamwhile not
يَكُ
yakuhe was
شَيْـًۭٔا
shayananything
٦٧
(67)
Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?

فَوَرَبِّكَ
fawarabbikaSo by your Lord
لَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْ
lanaḥshurannahumsurely, We will gather them
وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ
wal-shayāṭīnaand the devils
ثُمَّ
thummathen
لَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْ
lanuḥ'ḍirannahumsurely, We will bring them
حَوْلَ
ḥawlaaround
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannamaHell
جِثِيًّۭا
jithiyyanbent (on) knees
٦٨
(68)
So by your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils; then We will bring them to be present around Hell upon their knees.

ثُمَّ
thummaThen
لَنَنزِعَنَّ
lananziʿannasurely, We will drag out
مِن
minfrom
كُلِّ
kullievery
شِيعَةٍ
shīʿatinsect
أَيُّهُمْ
ayyuhumthose of them
أَشَدُّ
ashaddu(who were) worst
عَلَى
ʿalāagainst
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
عِتِيًّۭا
ʿitiyyan(in) rebellion
٦٩
(69)
Then We will surely extract from every sect those of them who were worst against the Most Merciful in insolence.

ثُمَّ
thummaThen
لَنَحْنُ
lanaḥnusurely, We
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamuknow best
بِٱلَّذِينَ
bi-alladhīna[of] those who
هُمْ
hum[they]
أَوْلَىٰ
awlā(are) most worthy
بِهَا
bihātherein
صِلِيًّۭا
ṣiliyyan(of) being burnt
٧٠
(70)
Then, surely it is We who are most knowing of those most worthy of burning therein.

وَإِن
wa-inAnd (there is) not
مِّنكُمْ
minkum(any) of you
إِلَّا
illābut
وَارِدُهَا ۚ
wāriduhā(will be) passing over it
كَانَ
kāna(This) is
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāupon
رَبِّكَ
rabbikayour Lord
حَتْمًۭا
ḥatmanan inevitability
مَّقْضِيًّۭا
maqḍiyyandecreed
٧١
(71)
And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed.

ثُمَّ
thummaThen
نُنَجِّى
nunajjīWe will deliver
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ٱتَّقَوا۟
ittaqawfeared (Allah)
وَّنَذَرُ
wanadharuand We will leave
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
جِثِيًّۭا
jithiyyanbent (on) knees
٧٢
(72)
Then We will save those who feared Allāh and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.

وَإِذَا
wa-idhāAnd when
تُتْلَىٰ
tut'lāare recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimto them
ءَايَـٰتُنَا
āyātunāOur Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ
bayyinātinclear
قَالَ
qālasay
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīnato those who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanūbelieved
أَىُّ
ayyuWhich
ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ
l-farīqayni(of) the two groups
خَيْرٌۭ
khayrun(is) better
مَّقَامًۭا
maqāman(in) position
وَأَحْسَنُ
wa-aḥsanuand best
نَدِيًّۭا
nadiyyan(in) assembly
٧٣
(73)
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of [our] two parties is best in position and best in association?"

wakamAnd how many
أَهْلَكْنَا
ahlaknāWe destroyed
قَبْلَهُم
qablahumbefore them
مِّن

قَرْنٍ
qarnina generation
هُمْ
humthey
أَحْسَنُ
aḥsanu(were) better
أَثَـٰثًۭا
athāthan(in) possessions
وَرِءْيًۭا
wari'yanand appearance
٧٤
(74)
And how many a generation have We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and [outward] appearance?

qulSay
مَن
manWhoever
كَانَ
kānais
فِى
in
ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةِ
l-ḍalālati[the] error
فَلْيَمْدُدْ
falyamdudthen surely will extend
لَهُ
lahufor him
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
مَدًّا ۚ
maddanan extension
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāuntil
إِذَا
idhāwhen
رَأَوْا۟
ra-awthey see
مَا
what
يُوعَدُونَ
yūʿadūnathey were promised
إِمَّا
immāeither
ٱلْعَذَابَ
l-ʿadhābathe punishment
وَإِمَّا
wa-immāor
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
l-sāʿatathe Hour
فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ
fasayaʿlamūnathen they will know
مَنْ
manwho
هُوَ
huwa[he]
شَرٌّۭ
sharrun(is) worst
مَّكَانًۭا
makānan(in) position
وَأَضْعَفُ
wa-aḍʿafuand weaker
جُندًۭا
jundan(in) forces
٧٥
(75)
Say, "Whoever is in error - let the Most Merciful extend for him an extension [in wealth and time] until, when they see that which they were promised - either punishment [in this world] or the Hour [of resurrection] - they will come to know who is worst in position and weaker in soldiers."

وَيَزِيدُ
wayazīduAnd Allah increases
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAnd Allah increases
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ٱهْتَدَوْا۟
ih'tadawaccept guidance
هُدًۭى ۗ
hudan(in) guidance
وَٱلْبَـٰقِيَـٰتُ
wal-bāqiyātuAnd the everlasting
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ
l-ṣāliḥātugood deeds
خَيْرٌ
khayrun(are) better
عِندَ
ʿindanear
رَبِّكَ
rabbikayour Lord
ثَوَابًۭا
thawāban(for) reward
وَخَيْرٌۭ
wakhayrunand better
مَّرَدًّا
maraddan(for) return
٧٦
(76)
And Allāh increases those who were guided, in guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for recourse.

أَفَرَءَيْتَ
afara-aytaThen, have you seen
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīhe who
كَفَرَ
kafaradisbelieved
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātināin Our Verses
وَقَالَ
waqālaand said
لَأُوتَيَنَّ
laūtayannaSurely, I will be given
مَالًۭا
mālanwealth
وَوَلَدًا
wawaladanand children
٧٧
(77)
Then, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children [in the next life]"?

أَطَّلَعَ
aṭṭalaʿaHas he looked
ٱلْغَيْبَ
l-ghayba(into) the unseen
أَمِ
amior
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadhahas he taken
عِندَ
ʿindafrom
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
عَهْدًۭا
ʿahdana promise
٧٨
(78)
Has he looked into the unseen, or has he taken from the Most Merciful a promise?

كَلَّا ۚ
kallāNay
سَنَكْتُبُ
sanaktubuWe will record
مَا
what
يَقُولُ
yaqūluhe says
وَنَمُدُّ
wanamudduand We will extend
لَهُۥ
lahufor him
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْعَذَابِ
l-ʿadhābithe punishment
مَدًّۭا
maddanextensively
٧٩
(79)
No! We will record what he says and extend [i.e., increase] for him from the punishment extensively.

وَنَرِثُهُۥ
wanarithuhuAnd We will inherit (from) him
مَا
what
يَقُولُ
yaqūluhe says
وَيَأْتِينَا
wayatīnāand he will come to Us
فَرْدًۭا
fardanalone
٨٠
(80)
And We will inherit him [in] what he mentions, and he will come to Us alone.

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟
wa-ittakhadhūAnd they have taken
مِن
minbesides Allah
دُونِ
dūnibesides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahibesides Allah
ءَالِهَةًۭ
ālihatangods
لِّيَكُونُوا۟
liyakūnūthat they may be
لَهُمْ
lahumfor them
عِزًّۭا
ʿizzanan honor
٨١
(81)
And they have taken besides Allāh [false] deities that they would be for them [a source of] honor.

كَلَّا ۚ
kallāNay
سَيَكْفُرُونَ
sayakfurūnathey will deny
بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ
biʿibādatihimtheir worship (of them)
وَيَكُونُونَ
wayakūnūnaand they will be
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimagainst them
ضِدًّا
ḍiddanopponents
٨٢
(82)
No! They [i.e., those "gods"] will deny their worship of them and will be against them opponents [on the Day of Judgement].

أَلَمْ
alamDo not
تَرَ
tarayou see
أَنَّآ
annāthat We
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā[We] have sent
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ
l-shayāṭīnathe devils
عَلَى
ʿalāupon
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
تَؤُزُّهُمْ
ta-uzzuhuminciting them
أَزًّۭا
azzan(with) incitement
٨٣
(83)
Do you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them [to evil] with [constant] incitement?

فَلَا
falāSo (do) not
تَعْجَلْ
taʿjalmake haste
عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ
ʿalayhimagainst them
إِنَّمَا
innamāOnly
نَعُدُّ
naʿudduWe count
لَهُمْ
lahumfor them
عَدًّۭا
ʿaddana number
٨٤
(84)
So be not impatient over them. We only count out [i.e., allow] to them a [limited] number.

يَوْمَ
yawma(The) Day
نَحْشُرُ
naḥshuruWe will gather
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīnathe righteous
إِلَى
ilāto
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
وَفْدًۭا
wafdan(as) a delegation
٨٥
(85)
On the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation

وَنَسُوقُ
wanasūquAnd We will drive
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīnathe criminals
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannamaHell
وِرْدًۭا
wir'danthirsty
٨٦
(86)
And will drive the criminals to Hell in thirst

لَّا
Not
يَمْلِكُونَ
yamlikūnathey will have the power
ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ
l-shafāʿata(of) the intercession
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مَنِ
mani(he) who
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadhahas taken
عِندَ
ʿindafrom
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
عَهْدًۭا
ʿahdana covenant
٨٧
(87)
None will have [power of] intercession except he who had taken from the Most Merciful a covenant.

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they say
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadhaHas taken
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
وَلَدًۭا
waladana son
٨٨
(88)
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son."

لَّقَدْ
laqadVerily
جِئْتُمْ
ji'tumyou have put forth
شَيْـًٔا
shayana thing
إِدًّۭا
iddanatrocious
٨٩
(89)
You have done an atrocious thing.

تَكَادُ
takāduAlmost
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ
l-samāwātuthe heavens
يَتَفَطَّرْنَ
yatafaṭṭarnaget torn
مِنْهُ
min'hutherefrom
وَتَنشَقُّ
watanshaqquand splits asunder
ٱلْأَرْضُ
l-arḍuthe earth
وَتَخِرُّ
watakhirruand collapse
ٱلْجِبَالُ
l-jibāluthe mountain
هَدًّا
haddan(in) devastation
٩٠
(90)
The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation

دَعَوْا۟
daʿawthey invoke
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmānito the Most Gracious
وَلَدًۭا
waladana son
٩١
(91)
That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
يَنۢبَغِى
yanbaghīis appropriate
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmānifor the Most Gracious
أَن
anthat
يَتَّخِذَ
yattakhidhaHe should take
وَلَدًا
waladana son
٩٢
(92)
And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.

كُلُّ
kulluall
مَن
manwho
فِى
(are) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍiand the earth
إِلَّآ
illābut
ءَاتِى
ātī(will) come
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni(to) the Most Gracious
عَبْدًۭا
ʿabdan(as) a slave
٩٣
(93)
There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.

لَّقَدْ
laqadVerily
أَحْصَىٰهُمْ
aḥṣāhumHe has enumerated them
وَعَدَّهُمْ
waʿaddahumand counted them
عَدًّۭا
ʿaddana counting
٩٤
(94)
He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting.

وَكُلُّهُمْ
wakulluhumAnd all of them
ءَاتِيهِ
ātīhi(will) come (to) Him
يَوْمَ
yawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
فَرْدًا
fardanalone
٩٥
(95)
And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.

إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanūbelieved
وَعَمِلُوا۟
waʿamilūand did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
l-ṣāliḥātigood deeds
سَيَجْعَلُ
sayajʿaluwill bestow
لَهُمُ
lahumufor them
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
وُدًّۭا
wuddanaffection
٩٦
(96)
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection.

فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamāSo, only
يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ
yassarnāhuWe (have) made it easy
بِلِسَانِكَ
bilisānikain your tongue
لِتُبَشِّرَ
litubashirathat you may give glad tidings
بِهِ
bihiwith it
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīna(to) the righteous
وَتُنذِرَ
watundhiraand warn
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
قَوْمًۭا
qawmana people
لُّدًّۭا
luddanhostile
٩٧
(97)
So, [O Muḥammad], We have only made it [i.e., the Qur’ān] easy in your tongue [i.e., the Arabic language] that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people.

أَهْلَكْنَا
ahlaknāWe (have) destroyed
قَبْلَهُم
qablahumbefore them
مِّن

قَرْنٍ
qarnina generation
هَلْ
halCan
تُحِسُّ
tuḥissuyou perceive
مِنْهُم
min'humof them
مِّنْ
minany
أَحَدٍ
aḥadinone
أَوْ
awor
تَسْمَعُ
tasmaʿuhear
لَهُمْ
lahumfrom them
رِكْزًۢا
rik'zana sound
٩٨
(98)
And how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound?
