مَآmāNot
أَنزَلْنَاanzalnāWe (have) sent down
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
ٱلْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quran
لِتَشْقَىٰٓlitashqāthat you be distressed
٢(2)
We have not sent down to you the Qur’ān that you be distressed
Juz 16Page 312
إِلَّاillā(But)
تَذْكِرَةًۭtadhkiratan(as) a reminder
لِّمَنlimanfor (those) who
يَخْشَىٰyakhshāfear
٣(3)
But only as a reminder for those who fear [Allāh] -

تَنزِيلًۭاtanzīlanA revelation
مِّمَّنْmimmanfrom (He) Who
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth
وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِwal-samāwātiand the heavens
ٱلْعُلَىl-ʿulā[the] high
٤(4)
A revelation from He who created the earth and highest heavens,

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُal-raḥmānuThe Most Gracious
عَلَىʿalāover
ٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throne
ٱسْتَوَىٰis'tawāis established
٥(5)
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established.

لَهُۥlahuTo Him (belongs)
مَاmāwhatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَاwamāand whatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَمَاwamāand whatever
بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between them
وَمَاwamāand whatever
تَحْتَtaḥta(is) under
ٱلثَّرَىٰl-tharāthe soil
٦(6)
To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth and what is between them and what is under the soil.

وَإِنwa-inAnd if
تَجْهَرْtajharyou speak aloud
بِٱلْقَوْلِbil-qawlithe word
فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuthen indeed, He
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknows
ٱلسِّرَّl-sirathe secret
وَأَخْفَىwa-akhfāand the more hidden
٧(7)
And if you speak aloud - then indeed, He knows the secret and what is [even] more hidden.

ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
لَآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHim
لَهُlahuTo Him (belong)
ٱلْأَسْمَآءُl-asmāuthe Names
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰl-ḥus'nāthe Most Beautiful
٨(8)
Allāh - there is no deity except Him. To Him belong the best names.

وَهَلْwahalAnd has
أَتَىٰكَatākacome to you
حَدِيثُḥadīthuthe narration
مُوسَىٰٓmūsā(of) Musa
٩(9)
And has the story of Moses reached you? -
Juz 16Page 312
إِذْidhWhen
رَءَاraāhe saw
نَارًۭاnārana fire
فَقَالَfaqālathen he said
لِأَهْلِهِli-ahlihito his family
ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟um'kuthūStay here
إِنِّىٓinnīindeed, I
ءَانَسْتُānastu[I] perceived
نَارًۭاnārana fire
لَّعَلِّىٓlaʿallīperhaps I (can)
ءَاتِيكُمātīkumbring you
مِّنْهَاmin'hātherefrom
بِقَبَسٍbiqabasina burning brand
أَوْawor
أَجِدُajiduI find
عَلَىʿalāat
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe fire
هُدًۭىhudanguidance
١٠(10)
When he saw a fire and said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire; perhaps I can bring you a torch or find at the fire some guidance."

فَلَمَّآfalammāThen when
أَتَىٰهَاatāhāhe came to it
نُودِىَnūdiyahe was called
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
١١(11)
And when he came to it, he was called, "O Moses,
Juz 16Page 312
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, [I]
أَنَا۠anāI Am
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord
فَٱخْلَعْfa-ikh'laʿso remove
نَعْلَيْكَ ۖnaʿlaykayour shoes
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
بِٱلْوَادِbil-wādi(are) in the valley
ٱلْمُقَدَّسِl-muqadasithe sacred
طُوًۭىṭuwan(of) Tuwa
١٢(12)
Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals. Indeed, you are in the blessed valley of Ṭuwā.

وَأَنَاwa-anāAnd I
ٱخْتَرْتُكَikh'tartuka(have) chosen you
فَٱسْتَمِعْfa-is'tamiʿso listen
لِمَاlimāto what
يُوحَىٰٓyūḥāis revealed
١٣(13)
And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed [to you].

إِنَّنِىٓinnanīIndeed, [I]
أَنَاanāI Am
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
لَآlā(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّآillābut
أَنَا۠anāI
فَٱعْبُدْنِىfa-uʿ'bud'nīso worship Me
وَأَقِمِwa-aqimiand establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
لِذِكْرِىٓlidhik'rīfor My remembrance
١٤(14)
Indeed, I am Allāh. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلسَّاعَةَl-sāʿatathe Hour
ءَاتِيَةٌātiyatun(will be) coming
أَكَادُakāduI almost
أُخْفِيهَاukh'fīhā[I] hide it
لِتُجْزَىٰlituj'zāthat may be recompensed
كُلُّkulluevery
نَفْسٍۭnafsinsoul
بِمَاbimāfor what
تَسْعَىٰtasʿāit strives
١٥(15)
Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.

فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
يَصُدَّنَّكَyaṣuddannaka(let) avert you
عَنْهَاʿanhāfrom it
مَنman(one) who
لَّاlā(does) not
يُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieve
بِهَاbihāin it
وَٱتَّبَعَwa-ittabaʿaand follows
هَوَىٰهُhawāhuhis desires
فَتَرْدَىٰfatardālest you perish
١٦(16)
So do not let one avert you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish.

وَمَاwamāAnd what
تِلْكَtil'ka(is) that
بِيَمِينِكَbiyamīnikain your right hand
يَـٰمُوسَىٰyāmūsāO Musa
١٧(17)
And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?"

قَالَqālaHe said
هِىَhiyaIt
عَصَاىَʿaṣāya(is) my staff
أَتَوَكَّؤُا۟atawakka-uI lean
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon it
وَأَهُشُّwa-ahushuand I bring down leaves
بِهَاbihāwith it
عَلَىٰʿalāfor
غَنَمِىghanamīmy sheep
وَلِىَwaliyaand for me
فِيهَاfīhāin it
مَـَٔارِبُmaāribu(are) uses
أُخْرَىٰukh'rāother
١٨(18)
He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."

قَالَqālaHe said
أَلْقِهَاalqihāThrow it down
يَـٰمُوسَىٰyāmūsāO Musa
١٩(19)
[Allāh] said, "Throw it down, O Moses."

فَأَلْقَىٰهَاfa-alqāhāSo he threw it down
فَإِذَاfa-idhāand behold
هِىَhiyaIt
حَيَّةٌۭḥayyatun(was) a snake
تَسْعَىٰtasʿāmoving swiftly
٢٠(20)
So he threw it down, and thereupon it was a snake, moving swiftly.

قَالَqālaHe said
خُذْهَاkhudh'hāSeize it
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَخَفْ ۖtakhaffear
سَنُعِيدُهَاsanuʿīduhāWe will return it
سِيرَتَهَاsīratahā(to) its state
ٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāthe former
٢١(21)
[Allāh] said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition.

وَٱضْمُمْwa-uḍ'mumAnd draw near
يَدَكَyadakayour hand
إِلَىٰilāto
جَنَاحِكَjanāḥikayour side
تَخْرُجْtakhrujit will come out
بَيْضَآءَbayḍāawhite
مِنْminwithout any
غَيْرِghayriwithout any
سُوٓءٍsūindisease
ءَايَةًāyatan(as) a sign
أُخْرَىٰukh'rāanother
٢٢(22)
And draw in your hand to your side; it will come out white without disease - another sign,

لِنُرِيَكَlinuriyakaThat We may show you
مِنْminof
ءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Signs
ٱلْكُبْرَىl-kub'rāthe Greatest
٢٣(23)
That We may show you [some] of Our greater signs.

ٱذْهَبْidh'habGo
إِلَىٰilāto
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
طَغَىٰṭaghā(has) transgressed
٢٤(24)
Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed [i.e., tyrannized]."

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
ٱشْرَحْish'raḥExpand
لِىlīfor me
صَدْرِىṣadrīmy breast
٢٥(25)
[Moses] said, "My Lord, expand [i.e., relax] for me my breast [with assurance]

وَيَسِّرْwayassirAnd ease
لِىٓlīfor me
أَمْرِىamrīmy task
٢٦(26)
And ease for me my task
Juz 16Page 313
وَٱحْلُلْwa-uḥ'lulAnd untie
عُقْدَةًۭʿuq'datan(the) knot
مِّنminfrom
لِّسَانِىlisānīmy tongue
٢٧(27)
And untie the knot from my tongue
Juz 16Page 313
يَفْقَهُوا۟yafqahūThat they may understand
قَوْلِىqawlīmy speech
٢٨(28)
That they may understand my speech.
Juz 16Page 313
وَٱجْعَلwa-ij'ʿalAnd appoint
لِّىlīfor me
وَزِيرًۭاwazīrana minister
مِّنْminfrom
أَهْلِىahlīmy family
٢٩(29)
And appoint for me a minister [i.e., assistant] from my family -
Juz 16Page 313
هَـٰرُونَhārūnaHarun
أَخِىakhīmy brother
٣٠(30)
Aaron, my brother.

ٱشْدُدْush'dudReinforce
بِهِۦٓbihithrough him
أَزْرِىazrīmy strength
٣١(31)
Increase through him my strength
Juz 16Page 313
وَأَشْرِكْهُwa-ashrik'huAnd make him share
فِىٓfī[in]
أَمْرِىamrīmy task
٣٢(32)
And let him share my task
Juz 16Page 313
كَىْkayThat
نُسَبِّحَكَnusabbiḥakawe may glorify You
كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuch
٣٣(33)
That we may exalt You much
Juz 16Page 313
وَنَذْكُرَكَwanadhkurakaAnd [we] remember You
كَثِيرًاkathīranmuch
٣٤(34)
And remember You much.
Juz 16Page 313
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, [You]
كُنتَkuntaYou are
بِنَاbināof us
بَصِيرًۭاbaṣīranAll-Seer
٣٥(35)
Indeed, You are of us ever Seeing."

قَالَqālaHe said
قَدْqadVerily
أُوتِيتَūtītayou are granted
سُؤْلَكَsu'lakayour request
يَـٰمُوسَىٰyāmūsāO Musa
٣٦(36)
[Allāh] said, "You have been granted your request, O Moses.
Juz 16Page 313
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd indeed
مَنَنَّاmanannāWe conferred a favor
عَلَيْكَʿalaykaon you
مَرَّةًmarratananother time
أُخْرَىٰٓukh'rāanother time
٣٧(37)
And We had already conferred favor upon you another time,

إِذْidhWhen
أَوْحَيْنَآawḥaynāWe inspired
إِلَىٰٓilāto
أُمِّكَummikayour mother
مَاmāwhat
يُوحَىٰٓyūḥāis inspired
٣٨(38)
When We inspired to your mother what We inspired,

أَنِaniThat
ٱقْذِفِيهِiq'dhifīhicast him
فِىfīin
ٱلتَّابُوتِl-tābūtithe chest
فَٱقْذِفِيهِfa-iq'dhifīhithen cast it
فِىfīin
ٱلْيَمِّl-yamithe river
فَلْيُلْقِهِfalyul'qihithen let cast it
ٱلْيَمُّl-yamuthe river
بِٱلسَّاحِلِbil-sāḥilion the bank
يَأْخُذْهُyakhudh'huwill take him
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwunan enemy
لِّىlīto Me
وَعَدُوٌّۭwaʿaduwwunand an enemy
لَّهُۥ ۚlahuto him
وَأَلْقَيْتُwa-alqaytuAnd I cast
عَلَيْكَʿalaykaover you
مَحَبَّةًۭmaḥabbatanlove
مِّنِّىminnīfrom Me
وَلِتُصْنَعَwalituṣ'naʿaand that you may be brought up
عَلَىٰʿalāunder
عَيْنِىٓʿaynīMy eye
٣٩(39)
[Saying], 'Cast him into the chest and cast it into the river, and the river will throw it onto the bank; there will take him an enemy to Me and an enemy to him.' And I bestowed upon you love from Me that you would be brought up under My eye [i.e., observation and care].

إِذْidhWhen
تَمْشِىٓtamshīwas going
أُخْتُكَukh'tukayour sister
فَتَقُولُfataqūluand she said
هَلْhalShall
أَدُلُّكُمْadullukumI show you
عَلَىٰʿalā[to]
مَنman(one) who
يَكْفُلُهُۥ ۖyakfuluhuwill nurse and rear him
فَرَجَعْنَـٰكَfarajaʿnākaSo We returned you
إِلَىٰٓilāto
أُمِّكَummikayour mother
كَىْkaythat
تَقَرَّtaqarramay be cooled
عَيْنُهَاʿaynuhāher eyes
وَلَاwalāand not
تَحْزَنَ ۚtaḥzanashe grieves
وَقَتَلْتَwaqataltaAnd you killed
نَفْسًۭاnafsana man
فَنَجَّيْنَـٰكَfanajjaynākabut We saved you
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْغَمِّl-ghamithe distress
وَفَتَنَّـٰكَwafatannākaand We tried you
فُتُونًۭا ۚfutūnan(with) a trial
فَلَبِثْتَfalabith'taThen you remained
سِنِينَsinīna(some) years
فِىٓfīwith
أَهْلِahli(the) people
مَدْيَنَmadyana(of) Madyan
ثُمَّthummaThen
جِئْتَji'tayou came
عَلَىٰʿalāat
قَدَرٍۢqadarinthe decreed (time)
يَـٰمُوسَىٰyāmūsāO Musa
٤٠(40)
[And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses.

وَٱصْطَنَعْتُكَwa-iṣ'ṭanaʿtukaAnd I (have) chosen you
لِنَفْسِىlinafsīfor Myself
٤١(41)
And I produced you for Myself.

ٱذْهَبْidh'habGo
أَنتَantayou
وَأَخُوكَwa-akhūkaand your brother
بِـَٔايَـٰتِىbiāyātīwith My Signs
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَنِيَاtaniyāslacken
فِىfīin
ذِكْرِىdhik'rīMy remembrance
٤٢(42)
Go, you and your brother, with My signs and do not slacken in My remembrance.

ٱذْهَبَآidh'habāGo, both of you
إِلَىٰilāto
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
طَغَىٰṭaghā(has) transgressed
٤٣(43)
Go, both of you, to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.

فَقُولَاfaqūlāAnd speak
لَهُۥlahuto him
قَوْلًۭاqawlana word
لَّيِّنًۭاlayyinangentle
لَّعَلَّهُۥlaʿallahuperhaps he
يَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkarumay take heed
أَوْawor
يَخْشَىٰyakhshāfear
٤٤(44)
And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allāh]."

قَالَاqālāThey said
رَبَّنَآrabbanāOur Lord
إِنَّنَاinnanāIndeed, we
نَخَافُnakhāfufear
أَنanthat
يَفْرُطَyafruṭahe will hasten
عَلَيْنَآʿalaynāagainst us
أَوْawor
أَنanthat
يَطْغَىٰyaṭghāhe will transgress
٤٥(45)
They said, "Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress."

قَالَqālaHe said
لَاlā(Do) not
تَخَافَآ ۖtakhāfāfear
إِنَّنِىinnanīIndeed, I Am
مَعَكُمَآmaʿakumāwith you both
أَسْمَعُasmaʿuI hear
وَأَرَىٰwa-arāand I see
٤٦(46)
[Allāh] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.

فَأْتِيَاهُfatiyāhuSo go to him
فَقُولَآfaqūlāand say
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
رَسُولَاrasūlāboth (are) Messengers
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
فَأَرْسِلْfa-arsilso send
مَعَنَاmaʿanāwith us
بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israel
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تُعَذِّبْهُمْ ۖtuʿadhib'humtorment them
قَدْqadVerily
جِئْنَـٰكَji'nākawe came to you
بِـَٔايَةٍۢbiāyatinwith a Sign
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّكَ ۖrabbikayour Lord
وَٱلسَّلَـٰمُwal-salāmuAnd peace
عَلَىٰʿalāon
مَنِmani(one) who
ٱتَّبَعَittabaʿafollows
ٱلْهُدَىٰٓl-hudāthe Guidance
٤٧(47)
So go to him and say, 'Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, so send with us the Children of Israel and do not torment them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord. And peace will be upon he who follows the guidance.

إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
قَدْqadverily
أُوحِىَūḥiyait has been revealed
إِلَيْنَآilaynāto us
أَنَّannathat
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
عَلَىٰʿalā(will be) on
مَنman(one) who
كَذَّبَkadhabadenies
وَتَوَلَّىٰwatawallāand turns away
٤٨(48)
Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away.'"

قَالَqālaHe said
فَمَنfamanThen who
رَّبُّكُمَاrabbukumā(is) your Lord
يَـٰمُوسَىٰyāmūsāO Musa
٤٩(49)
[Pharaoh] said, "So who is the Lord of you two, O Moses?"

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبُّنَاrabbunāOur Lord
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One Who
أَعْطَىٰaʿṭāgave
كُلَّkulla(to) every
شَىْءٍshayinthing
خَلْقَهُۥkhalqahuits form
ثُمَّthummathen
هَدَىٰhadāHe guided (it)
٥٠(50)
He said, "Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided [it]."

قَالَqālaHe said
فَمَاfamāThen what
بَالُbālu(is the) case
ٱلْقُرُونِl-qurūni(of) the generations
ٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlā(of) the former
٥١(51)
[Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations?"

قَالَqālaHe said
عِلْمُهَاʿil'muhāIts knowledge
عِندَʿinda(is) with
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
فِىfīin
كِتَـٰبٍۢ ۖkitābina Record
لَّاlāNot
يَضِلُّyaḍilluerrs
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
وَلَاwalāand not
يَنسَىyansāforgets
٥٢(52)
[Moses] said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets."

ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
لَكُمُlakumufor you
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth
مَهْدًۭاmahdan(as) a bed
وَسَلَكَwasalakaand inserted
لَكُمْlakumfor you
فِيهَاfīhātherein
سُبُلًۭاsubulanways
وَأَنزَلَwa-anzalaand sent down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مَآءًۭmāanwater
فَأَخْرَجْنَاfa-akhrajnāthen We (have) brought forth
بِهِۦٓbihiwith it
أَزْوَٰجًۭاazwājanpairs
مِّنminof
نَّبَاتٍۢnabātinplants
شَتَّىٰshattādiverse
٥٣(53)
[It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants.

كُلُوا۟kulūEat
وَٱرْعَوْا۟wa-ir'ʿawand pasture
أَنْعَـٰمَكُمْ ۗanʿāmakumyour cattle
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely (are) Signs
لِّأُو۟لِىli-ulīfor possessors
ٱلنُّهَىٰl-nuhā(of) intelligence
٥٤(54)
Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence.

۞ مِنْهَاmin'hāFrom it
خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْkhalaqnākumWe created you
وَفِيهَاwafīhāand in it
نُعِيدُكُمْnuʿīdukumWe will return you
وَمِنْهَاwamin'hāand from it
نُخْرِجُكُمْnukh'rijukumWe will bring you out
تَارَةًtāratantime
أُخْرَىٰukh'rāanother
٥٥(55)
From it [i.e., the earth] We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time.

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
أَرَيْنَـٰهُaraynāhuWe showed him
ءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Signs
كُلَّهَاkullahāall of them
فَكَذَّبَfakadhababut he denied
وَأَبَىٰwa-abāand refused
٥٦(56)
And We certainly showed him [i.e., Pharaoh] Our signs - all of them - but he denied and refused.

قَالَqālaHe said
أَجِئْتَنَاaji'tanāHave you come to us
لِتُخْرِجَنَاlitukh'rijanāto drive us out
مِنْminof
أَرْضِنَاarḍināour land
بِسِحْرِكَbisiḥ'rikawith your magic
يَـٰمُوسَىٰyāmūsāO Musa
٥٧(57)
He said, "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses?

فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَfalanatiyannakaThen we will surely produce for you
بِسِحْرٍۢbisiḥ'rinmagic
مِّثْلِهِۦmith'lihilike it
فَٱجْعَلْfa-ij'ʿalSo make
بَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween us
وَبَيْنَكَwabaynakaand between you
مَوْعِدًۭاmawʿidanan appointment
لَّاlānot
نُخْلِفُهُۥnukh'lifuhuwe will fail it
نَحْنُnaḥnu[we]
وَلَآwalāand not
أَنتَantayou
مَكَانًۭاmakānan(in) a place
سُوًۭىsuwaneven
٥٨(58)
Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned."

قَالَqālaHe said
مَوْعِدُكُمْmawʿidukumYour appointment
يَوْمُyawmu(is on the) day
ٱلزِّينَةِl-zīnati(of) the festival
وَأَنwa-anand that
يُحْشَرَyuḥ'sharawill be assembled
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuthe people
ضُحًۭىḍuḥan(at) forenoon
٥٩(59)
[Moses] said, "Your appointment is on the day of the festival when the people assemble at mid-morning."

فَتَوَلَّىٰfatawallāThen went away
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
فَجَمَعَfajamaʿaand put together
كَيْدَهُۥkaydahuhis plan
ثُمَّthummathen
أَتَىٰatācame
٦٠(60)
So Pharaoh went away, put together his plan, and then came [to Moses].

قَالَqālaSaid
لَهُمlahumto them
مُّوسَىٰmūsāMusa
وَيْلَكُمْwaylakumWoe to you
لَاlā(Do) not
تَفْتَرُوا۟taftarūinvent
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
كَذِبًۭاkadhibana lie
فَيُسْحِتَكُمfayus'ḥitakumlest He will destroy you
بِعَذَابٍۢ ۖbiʿadhābinwith a punishment
وَقَدْwaqadAnd verily
خَابَkhābahe failed
مَنِmaniwho
ٱفْتَرَىٰif'tarāinvented
٦١(61)
Moses said to them [i.e., the magicians summoned by Pharaoh], "Woe to you! Do not invent a lie against Allāh or He will exterminate you with a punishment; and he has failed who invents [such falsehood]."

فَتَنَـٰزَعُوٓا۟fatanāzaʿūThen they disputed
أَمْرَهُمamrahum(in) their affair
بَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong them
وَأَسَرُّوا۟wa-asarrūand they kept secret
ٱلنَّجْوَىٰl-najwāthe private conversation
٦٢(62)
So they disputed over their affair among themselves and concealed their private conversation.

قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
إِنْinIndeed
هَـٰذَٰنِhādhānithese two
لَسَـٰحِرَٰنِlasāḥirāni[two] magicians
يُرِيدَانِyurīdānithey intend
أَنanthat
يُخْرِجَاكُمyukh'rijākumthey drive you out
مِّنْminof
أَرْضِكُمarḍikumyour land
بِسِحْرِهِمَاbisiḥ'rihimāwith their magic
وَيَذْهَبَاwayadhhabāand do away
بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُbiṭarīqatikumuwith your way
ٱلْمُثْلَىٰl-muth'lāthe exemplary
٦٣(63)
They said, "Indeed, these are two magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and do away with your most exemplary way [i.e., religion or tradition].

فَأَجْمِعُوا۟fa-ajmiʿūSo put together
كَيْدَكُمْkaydakumyour plan
ثُمَّthummathen
ٱئْتُوا۟i'tūcome
صَفًّۭا ۚṣaffan(in) a line
وَقَدْwaqadAnd verily
أَفْلَحَaflaḥa(will be) successful
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmatoday
مَنِmaniwho
ٱسْتَعْلَىٰis'taʿlāovercomes
٦٤(64)
So resolve upon your plan and then come [forward] in line. And he has succeeded today who overcomes."

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
إِمَّآimmāEither
أَنan[that]
تُلْقِىَtul'qiyayou throw
وَإِمَّآwa-immāor
أَنan[that]
نَّكُونَnakūnawe will be
أَوَّلَawwalathe first
مَنْmanwho
أَلْقَىٰalqāthrows
٦٥(65)
They said, "O Moses, either you throw or we will be the first to throw."

قَالَqālaHe said
بَلْbalNay
أَلْقُوا۟ ۖalqūyou throw
فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen behold
حِبَالُهُمْḥibāluhumTheir ropes
وَعِصِيُّهُمْwaʿiṣiyyuhumand their staffs
يُخَيَّلُyukhayyaluseemed
إِلَيْهِilayhito him
مِنminby
سِحْرِهِمْsiḥ'rihimtheir magic
أَنَّهَاannahāthat they
تَسْعَىٰtasʿā(were) moving
٦٦(66)
He said, "Rather, you throw." And suddenly their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were moving [like snakes].

فَأَوْجَسَfa-awjasaSo sensed
فِىfīin
نَفْسِهِۦnafsihihimself
خِيفَةًۭkhīfatana fear
مُّوسَىٰmūsāMusa
٦٧(67)
And he sensed within himself apprehension, did Moses.

قُلْنَاqul'nāWe said
لَاlā(Do) not
تَخَفْtakhaffear
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
أَنتَantayou
ٱلْأَعْلَىٰl-aʿlā(will be) superior
٦٨(68)
We [i.e., Allāh] said, "Fear not. Indeed, it is you who are superior.

وَأَلْقِwa-alqiAnd throw
مَاmāwhat
فِىfī(is) in
يَمِينِكَyamīnikayour right hand
تَلْقَفْtalqafit will swallow up
مَاmāwhat
صَنَعُوٓا۟ ۖṣanaʿūthey have made
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
صَنَعُوا۟ṣanaʿūthey (have) made
كَيْدُkaydua trick
سَـٰحِرٍۢ ۖsāḥirin(of) a magician
وَلَاwalāand not
يُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill be successful
ٱلسَّاحِرُl-sāḥiruthe magician
حَيْثُḥaythuwherever
أَتَىٰatāhe comes
٦٩(69)
And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is."

فَأُلْقِىَfa-ul'qiyaSo were thrown down
ٱلسَّحَرَةُl-saḥaratuthe magicians
سُجَّدًۭاsujjadanprostrating
قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
ءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believe
بِرَبِّbirabbiin (the) Lord
هَـٰرُونَhārūna(of) Harun
وَمُوسَىٰwamūsāand Musa
٧٠(70)
So the magicians fell down in prostration. They said, "We have believed in the Lord of Aaron and Moses."

قَالَqālaHe said
ءَامَنتُمْāmantumYou believe
لَهُۥlahu[to] him
قَبْلَqablabefore
أَنْan[that]
ءَاذَنَādhanaI gave permission
لَكُمْ ۖlakumto you
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
لَكَبِيرُكُمُlakabīrukumu(is) your chief
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one who
عَلَّمَكُمُʿallamakumutaught you
ٱلسِّحْرَ ۖl-siḥ'rathe magic
فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّfala-uqaṭṭiʿannaSo surely I will cut off
أَيْدِيَكُمْaydiyakumyour hands
وَأَرْجُلَكُمwa-arjulakumand your feet
مِّنْminof
خِلَـٰفٍۢkhilāfinopposite sides
وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْwala-uṣallibannakumand surely I will crucify you
فِىfīon
جُذُوعِjudhūʿi(the) trunks
ٱلنَّخْلِl-nakhli(of) date-palms
وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّwalataʿlamunnaand surely you will know
أَيُّنَآayyunāwhich of us
أَشَدُّashaddu(is) more severe
عَذَابًۭاʿadhāban(in) punishment
وَأَبْقَىٰwa-abqāand more lasting
٧١(71)
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him [i.e., Moses] before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will surely know which of us is more severe in [giving] punishment and more enduring."

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
لَنlanNever
نُّؤْثِرَكَnu'thirakawe will prefer you
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَاmāwhat
جَآءَنَاjāanāhas come to us
مِنَminaof
ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِl-bayinātithe clear proofs
وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīand the One Who
فَطَرَنَا ۖfaṭaranācreated us
فَٱقْضِfa-iq'ḍiSo decree
مَآmāwhatever
أَنتَantayou
قَاضٍ ۖqāḍin(are) decreeing
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
تَقْضِىtaqḍīyou can decree
هَـٰذِهِhādhihi(for) this
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayatalife
ٱلدُّنْيَآl-dun'yā(of) the world
٧٢(72)
They said, "Never will we prefer you over what has come to us of clear proofs and [over] He who created us. So decree whatever you are to decree. You can only decree for this worldly life.

إِنَّآinnāIndeed, [we]
ءَامَنَّاāmannāwe believe
بِرَبِّنَاbirabbināin our Lord
لِيَغْفِرَliyaghfirathat He may forgive
لَنَاlanāfor us
خَطَـٰيَـٰنَاkhaṭāyānāour sins
وَمَآwamāand what
أَكْرَهْتَنَاakrahtanāyou compelled us
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion it
مِنَminaof
ٱلسِّحْرِ ۗl-siḥ'rithe magic
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) Best
وَأَبْقَىٰٓwa-abqāand Ever Lasting
٧٣(73)
Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us [to do] of magic. And Allāh is better and more enduring."

إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
مَنmanwho
يَأْتِyaticomes
رَبَّهُۥrabbahu(to) his Lord
مُجْرِمًۭاmuj'riman(as) a criminal
فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
لَهُۥlahufor him
جَهَنَّمَjahannama(is) Hell
لَاlāNot
يَمُوتُyamūtuhe will die
فِيهَاfīhāin it
وَلَاwalāand not
يَحْيَىٰyaḥyālive
٧٤(74)
Indeed, whoever comes to his Lord as a criminal - indeed, for him is Hell; he will neither die therein nor live.

وَمَنwamanBut whoever
يَأْتِهِۦyatihicomes to Him
مُؤْمِنًۭاmu'minan(as) a believer
قَدْqadverily
عَمِلَʿamilahe has done
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deeds
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen those
لَهُمُlahumufor them
ٱلدَّرَجَـٰتُl-darajātu(will be) the ranks
ٱلْعُلَىٰl-ʿulā[the] high
٧٥(75)
But whoever comes to Him as a believer having done righteous deeds - for those will be the highest degrees [in position]:
Juz 16Page 316
جَنَّـٰتُjannātuGardens
عَدْنٍۢʿadnin(of) Eden
تَجْرِىtajrīflows
مِنminfrom
تَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath them
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāruthe rivers
خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīnaabiding forever
فِيهَا ۚfīhāin it
وَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaAnd that
جَزَآءُjazāu(is) the reward
مَنman(for him) who
تَزَكَّىٰtazakkāpurifies himself
٧٦(76)
Gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of one who purifies himself.

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
أَوْحَيْنَآawḥaynāWe inspired
إِلَىٰilāto
مُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa
أَنْanthat
أَسْرِasriTravel by night
بِعِبَادِىbiʿibādīwith My slaves
فَٱضْرِبْfa-iḍ'riband strike
لَهُمْlahumfor them
طَرِيقًۭاṭarīqana path
فِىfīin
ٱلْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe sea
يَبَسًۭاyabasandry
لَّاlānot
تَخَـٰفُtakhāfufearing
دَرَكًۭاdarakanto be overtaken
وَلَاwalāand not
تَخْشَىٰtakhshābeing afraid
٧٧(77)
And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]."

فَأَتْبَعَهُمْfa-atbaʿahumThen followed them
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
بِجُنُودِهِۦbijunūdihiwith his forces
فَغَشِيَهُمfaghashiyahumbut covered them
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلْيَمِّl-yamithe sea
مَاmāwhat
غَشِيَهُمْghashiyahumcovered them
٧٨(78)
So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, and there covered them from the sea that which covered them,

وَأَضَلَّwa-aḍallaAnd led astray
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
قَوْمَهُۥqawmahuhis people
وَمَاwamāand (did) not
هَدَىٰhadāguide them
٧٩(79)
And Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide [them].
Juz 16Page 317
يَـٰبَنِىٓyābanīO Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīlaO Children of Israel
قَدْqadVerily
أَنجَيْنَـٰكُمanjaynākumWe delivered you
مِّنْminfrom
عَدُوِّكُمْʿaduwwikumyour enemy
وَوَٰعَدْنَـٰكُمْwawāʿadnākumand We made a covenant with you
جَانِبَjānibaon (the) side
ٱلطُّورِl-ṭūri(of) the Mount
ٱلْأَيْمَنَl-aymanathe right
وَنَزَّلْنَاwanazzalnāand We sent down
عَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuto you
ٱلْمَنَّl-manathe Manna
وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰwal-salwāand the quails
٨٠(80)
O Children of Israel, We delivered you from your enemy, and We made an appointment with you at the right side of the mount, and We sent down to you manna and quails,

كُلُوا۟kulūEat
مِنminof
طَيِّبَـٰتِṭayyibāti(the) good things
مَاmāwhich
رَزَقْنَـٰكُمْrazaqnākumWe have provided you
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَطْغَوْا۟taṭghawtransgress
فِيهِfīhitherein
فَيَحِلَّfayaḥillalest should descend
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
غَضَبِى ۖghaḍabīMy Anger
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يَحْلِلْyaḥlilon whom descends
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion whom descends
غَضَبِىghaḍabīMy Anger
فَقَدْfaqadindeed
هَوَىٰhawāhe (has) perished
٨١(81)
[Saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you and do not transgress [or oppress others] therein, lest My anger should descend upon you. And he upon whom My anger descends has certainly fallen [i.e., perished]."

وَإِنِّىwa-innīBut indeed, I Am
لَغَفَّارٌۭlaghaffārunthe Perpetual Forgiver
لِّمَنlimanof whoever
تَابَtābarepents
وَءَامَنَwaāmanaand believes
وَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand does
صَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)
ثُمَّthummathen
ٱهْتَدَىٰih'tadāremains guided
٨٢(82)
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.

۞ وَمَآwamāAnd what
أَعْجَلَكَaʿjalakamade you hasten
عَنʿanfrom
قَوْمِكَqawmikayour people
يَـٰمُوسَىٰyāmūsāO Musa
٨٣(83)
[Allāh said], "And what made you hasten from your people, O Moses?"

قَالَqālaHe said
هُمْhumThey
أُو۟لَآءِulāi(are) close
عَلَىٰٓʿalāupon
أَثَرِىatharīmy tracks
وَعَجِلْتُwaʿajil'tuand I hastened
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
رَبِّrabbimy Lord
لِتَرْضَىٰlitarḍāthat You be pleased
٨٤(84)
He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased."

قَالَqālaHe said
فَإِنَّاfa-innāBut indeed, We
قَدْqad[verily]
فَتَنَّاfatannāWe (have) tried
قَوْمَكَqawmakayour people
مِنۢminafter you
بَعْدِكَbaʿdikaafter you
وَأَضَلَّهُمُwa-aḍallahumuand has led them astray
ٱلسَّامِرِىُّl-sāmiriyuthe Samiri
٨٥(85)
[Allāh] said, "But indeed, We have tried your people after you [departed], and the Sāmirī has led them astray."

فَرَجَعَfarajaʿaThen Musa returned
مُوسَىٰٓmūsāThen Musa returned
إِلَىٰilāto
قَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis people
غَضْبَـٰنَghaḍbānaangry
أَسِفًۭا ۚasifan(and) sorrowful
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
أَلَمْalamDid not
يَعِدْكُمْyaʿid'kumpromise you
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lord
وَعْدًاwaʿdana promise
حَسَنًا ۚḥasanangood
أَفَطَالَafaṭālaThen, did seem long
عَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuto you
ٱلْعَهْدُl-ʿahduthe promise
أَمْamor
أَرَدتُّمْaradttumdid you desire
أَنanthat
يَحِلَّyaḥilladescend
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
غَضَبٌۭghaḍabun(the) Anger
مِّنminof
رَّبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lord
فَأَخْلَفْتُمfa-akhlaftumso you broke
مَّوْعِدِىmawʿidī(the) promise to me
٨٦(86)
So Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved. He said, "O my people, did your Lord not make you a good promise? Then, was the time [of its fulfillment] too long for you, or did you wish that wrath from your Lord descend upon you, so you broke your promise [of obedience] to me?"

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
مَآmāNot
أَخْلَفْنَاakhlafnāwe broke
مَوْعِدَكَmawʿidakapromise to you
بِمَلْكِنَاbimalkināby our will
وَلَـٰكِنَّاwalākinnābut we
حُمِّلْنَآḥummil'nā[we] were made to carry
أَوْزَارًۭاawzāranburdens
مِّنminfrom
زِينَةِzīnatiornaments
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmi(of) the people
فَقَذَفْنَـٰهَاfaqadhafnāhāso we threw them
فَكَذَٰلِكَfakadhālikaand thus
أَلْقَىalqāthrew
ٱلسَّامِرِىُّl-sāmiriyuthe Samiri
٨٧(87)
They said, "We did not break our promise to you by our will, but we were made to carry burdens from the ornaments of the people [of Pharaoh], so we threw them [into the fire], and thus did the Sāmirī throw."

فَأَخْرَجَfa-akhrajaThen he brought forth
لَهُمْlahumfor them
عِجْلًۭاʿij'lana calf's
جَسَدًۭاjasadanbody
لَّهُۥlahuit had
خُوَارٌۭkhuwāruna lowing sound
فَقَالُوا۟faqālūand they said
هَـٰذَآhādhāThis
إِلَـٰهُكُمْilāhukum(is) your god
وَإِلَـٰهُwa-ilāhuand the god
مُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musa
فَنَسِىَfanasiyabut he forgot
٨٨(88)
And he extracted for them [the statue of] a calf which had a lowing sound, and they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot."

أَفَلَاafalāThen, did not
يَرَوْنَyarawnathey see
أَلَّاallāthat not
يَرْجِعُyarjiʿuit (could) return
إِلَيْهِمْilayhimto them
قَوْلًۭاqawlana word
وَلَاwalāand not
يَمْلِكُyamlikupossess
لَهُمْlahumfor them
ضَرًّۭاḍarranany harm
وَلَاwalāand not
نَفْعًۭاnafʿanany benefit
٨٩(89)
Did they not see that it could not return to them any speech [i.e., response] and that it did not possess for them any harm or benefit?

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
قَالَqāla(had) said
لَهُمْlahumto them
هَـٰرُونُhārūnuHarun
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُqablubefore
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
فُتِنتُمfutintumyou are being tested
بِهِۦ ۖbihiby it
وَإِنَّwa-innaand indeed
رَبَّكُمُrabbakumuyour Lord
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānu(is) the Most Gracious
فَٱتَّبِعُونِىfa-ittabiʿūnīso follow me
وَأَطِيعُوٓا۟wa-aṭīʿūand obey
أَمْرِىamrīmy order
٩٠(90)
And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order."

قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
لَنlanNever
نَّبْرَحَnabraḥawe will cease
عَلَيْهِʿalayhibeing devoted to it
عَـٰكِفِينَʿākifīnabeing devoted to it
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَرْجِعَyarjiʿareturns
إِلَيْنَاilaynāto us
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
٩١(91)
They said, "We will never cease being devoted to it [i.e., the calf] until Moses returns to us."

قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰهَـٰرُونُyāhārūnuO Harun
مَاmāWhat
مَنَعَكَmanaʿakaprevented you
إِذْidhwhen
رَأَيْتَهُمْra-aytahumyou saw them
ضَلُّوٓا۟ḍallūgoing astray
٩٢(92)
[Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray,

أَلَّاallāThat not
تَتَّبِعَنِ ۖtattabiʿaniyou follow me
أَفَعَصَيْتَafaʿaṣaytaThen, have you disobeyed
أَمْرِىamrīmy order
٩٣(93)
From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order?"
Juz 16Page 318
قَالَqālaHe said
يَبْنَؤُمَّyabna-ummaO son of my mother
لَاlā(Do) not
تَأْخُذْtakhudhseize (me)
بِلِحْيَتِىbiliḥ'yatīby my beard
وَلَاwalāand not
بِرَأْسِىٓ ۖbirasīby my head
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I
خَشِيتُkhashītu[I] feared
أَنanthat
تَقُولَtaqūlayou would say
فَرَّقْتَfarraqtaYou caused division
بَيْنَbaynabetween
بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israel
وَلَمْwalamand not
تَرْقُبْtarqubyou respect
قَوْلِىqawlīmy word
٩٤(94)
[Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.'"

قَالَqālaHe said
فَمَاfamāThen what
خَطْبُكَkhaṭbuka(is) your case
يَـٰسَـٰمِرِىُّyāsāmiriyyuO Samiri
٩٥(95)
[Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Sāmirī?"

قَالَqālaHe said
بَصُرْتُbaṣur'tuI perceived
بِمَاbimāwhat
لَمْlamnot
يَبْصُرُوا۟yabṣurūthey perceive
بِهِۦbihiin it
فَقَبَضْتُfaqabaḍtuso I took
قَبْضَةًۭqabḍatana handful
مِّنْminfrom
أَثَرِathari(the) track
ٱلرَّسُولِl-rasūli(of) the Messenger
فَنَبَذْتُهَاfanabadhtuhāthen threw it
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaand thus
سَوَّلَتْsawwalatsuggested
لِىlīto me
نَفْسِىnafsīmy soul
٩٦(96)
He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me."

قَالَqālaHe said
فَٱذْهَبْfa-idh'habThen go
فَإِنَّfa-innaAnd indeed
لَكَlakafor you
فِىfīin
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life
أَنanthat
تَقُولَtaqūlayou will say
لَاlā(Do) not
مِسَاسَ ۖmisāsatouch
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
لَكَlakafor you
مَوْعِدًۭاmawʿidan(is) an appointment
لَّنlannever
تُخْلَفَهُۥ ۖtukh'lafahuyou will fail to (keep) it
وَٱنظُرْwa-unẓurAnd look
إِلَىٰٓilāat
إِلَـٰهِكَilāhikayour god
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthat which
ظَلْتَẓaltayou have remained
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito it
عَاكِفًۭا ۖʿākifandevoted
لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥlanuḥarriqannahuSurely we will burn it
ثُمَّthummathen
لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥlanansifannahucertainly we will scatter it
فِىfīin
ٱلْيَمِّl-yamithe sea
نَسْفًاnasfan(in) particles
٩٧(97)
[Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it [i.e., its ashes] into the sea with a blast.

إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
إِلَـٰهُكُمُilāhukumuyour God
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One
لَآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillābut
هُوَ ۚhuwaHe
وَسِعَwasiʿaHe has encompassed
كُلَّkullaall
شَىْءٍshayinthings
عِلْمًۭاʿil'man(in) knowledge
٩٨(98)
Your god is only Allāh, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge."

كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
نَقُصُّnaquṣṣuWe relate
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
مِنْminfrom
أَنۢبَآءِanbāi(the) news
مَاmā(of) what
قَدْqadhas preceded
سَبَقَ ۚsabaqahas preceded
وَقَدْwaqadAnd certainly
ءَاتَيْنَـٰكَātaynākaWe have given you
مِنminfrom
لَّدُنَّاladunnāUs
ذِكْرًۭاdhik'rana Reminder
٩٩(99)
Thus, [O Muḥammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us a message [i.e., the Qur’ān].

مَّنْmanWhoever
أَعْرَضَaʿraḍaturns away
عَنْهُʿanhufrom it
فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuthen indeed, he
يَحْمِلُyaḥmiluwill bear
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) Resurrection
وِزْرًاwiz'rana burden
١٠٠(100)
Whoever turns away from it - then indeed, he will bear on the Day of Resurrection a burden [i.e., great sin],

خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīnaAbiding forever
فِيهِ ۖfīhiin it
وَسَآءَwasāaand evil
لَهُمْlahumfor them
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
حِمْلًۭاḥim'lan(as) a load
١٠١(101)
[Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load -

يَوْمَyawma(The) Day
يُنفَخُyunfakhuwill be blown
فِىfīin
ٱلصُّورِ ۚl-ṣūrithe Trumpet
وَنَحْشُرُwanaḥshuruand We will gather
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīnathe criminals
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Day
زُرْقًۭاzur'qanblue-eyed
١٠٢(102)
The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed.

يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَyatakhāfatūnaThey are murmuring
بَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong themselves
إِنinNot
لَّبِثْتُمْlabith'tumyou remained
إِلَّاillāexcept (for)
عَشْرًۭاʿashranten
١٠٣(103)
They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]."

نَّحْنُnaḥnuWe
أَعْلَمُaʿlamuknow best
بِمَاbimāwhat
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey will say
إِذْidhwhen
يَقُولُyaqūluwill say
أَمْثَلُهُمْamthaluhum(the) best of them
طَرِيقَةًṭarīqatan(in) conduct
إِنinNot
لَّبِثْتُمْlabith'tumyou remained
إِلَّاillāexcept (for)
يَوْمًۭاyawmana day
١٠٤(104)
We are most knowing of what they say when the best of them in manner [i.e., wisdom or speech] will say, "You remained not but one day."

وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَwayasalūnakaAnd they ask you
عَنِʿaniabout
ٱلْجِبَالِl-jibālithe mountains
فَقُلْfaqulso say
يَنسِفُهَاyansifuhāWill blast them
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
نَسْفًۭاnasfan(into) particles
١٠٥(105)
And they ask you about the mountains, so say, "My Lord will blow them away with a blast.

فَيَذَرُهَاfayadharuhāThen He will leave it
قَاعًۭاqāʿana level
صَفْصَفًۭاṣafṣafanplain
١٠٦(106)
And He will leave it [i.e., the earth] a level plain;

لَّاlāNot
تَرَىٰtarāyou will see
فِيهَاfīhāin it
عِوَجًۭاʿiwajanany crookedness
وَلَآwalāand not
أَمْتًۭاamtanany curve
١٠٧(107)
You will not see therein a depression or an elevation."

يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinOn that Day
يَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnathey will follow
ٱلدَّاعِىَl-dāʿiyathe caller
لَاlāno
عِوَجَʿiwajadeviation
لَهُۥ ۖlahufrom it
وَخَشَعَتِwakhashaʿatiAnd (will be) humbled
ٱلْأَصْوَاتُl-aṣwātuthe voices
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmānifor the Most Gracious
فَلَاfalāso not
تَسْمَعُtasmaʿuyou will hear
إِلَّاillāexcept
هَمْسًۭاhamsana faint sound
١٠٨(108)
That Day, they [i.e., everyone] will follow [the call of] the Caller [with] no deviation therefrom, and [all] voices will be stilled before the Most Merciful, so you will not hear except a whisper [of footsteps].

يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhin(On) that Day
لَّاlānot
تَنفَعُtanfaʿuwill benefit
ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةُl-shafāʿatuthe intercession
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَنْman(to) whom
أَذِنَadhinahas given permission
لَهُlahu[to him]
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
وَرَضِىَwaraḍiyaand He has accepted
لَهُۥlahufor him
قَوْلًۭاqawlana word
١٠٩(109)
That Day, no intercession will benefit except [that of] one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and has accepted his word.

يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knows
مَاmāwhat
بَيْنَbayna(is) before them
أَيْدِيهِمْaydīhim(is) before them
وَمَاwamāand what
خَلْفَهُمْkhalfahum(is) behind them
وَلَاwalāwhile not
يُحِيطُونَyuḥīṭūnathey encompass
بِهِۦbihiit
عِلْمًۭاʿil'man(in) knowledge
١١٠(110)
He [i.e., Allāh] knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, but they do not encompass it [i.e., what He knows] in knowledge.

۞ وَعَنَتِwaʿanatiAnd (will be) humbled
ٱلْوُجُوهُl-wujūhuthe faces
لِلْحَىِّlil'ḥayyibefore the Ever-Living
ٱلْقَيُّومِ ۖl-qayūmithe Self-Subsisting
وَقَدْwaqadAnd verily
خَابَkhābawill have failed
مَنْman(he) who
حَمَلَḥamalacarried
ظُلْمًۭاẓul'manwrongdoing
١١١(111)
And [all] faces will be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. And he will have failed who carries injustice.

وَمَنwamanBut (he) who
يَعْمَلْyaʿmaldoes
مِنَminaof
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deeds
وَهُوَwahuwawhile he
مُؤْمِنٌۭmu'minun(is) a believer
فَلَاfalāthen not
يَخَافُyakhāfuhe will fear
ظُلْمًۭاẓul'maninjustice
وَلَاwalāand not
هَضْمًۭاhaḍmandeprivation
١١٢(112)
But he who does of righteous deeds while he is a believer - he will neither fear injustice nor deprivation.

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُanzalnāhuWe have sent it down
قُرْءَانًاqur'ānan(the) Quran
عَرَبِيًّۭاʿarabiyyan(in) Arabic
وَصَرَّفْنَاwaṣarrafnāand We have explained
فِيهِfīhiin it
مِنَminaof
ٱلْوَعِيدِl-waʿīdithe warnings
لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumthat they may
يَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafear
أَوْawor
يُحْدِثُyuḥ'dithuit may cause
لَهُمْlahum[for] them
ذِكْرًۭاdhik'ranremembrance
١١٣(113)
And thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’ān and have diversified therein the warnings that perhaps they will avoid [sin] or it would cause them remembrance.

فَتَعَـٰلَىfataʿālāSo high (above all)
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
ٱلْمَلِكُl-malikuthe King
ٱلْحَقُّ ۗl-ḥaquthe True
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَعْجَلْtaʿjalhasten
بِٱلْقُرْءَانِbil-qur'āniwith the Quran
مِنminbefore
قَبْلِqablibefore
أَنan[that]
يُقْضَىٰٓyuq'ḍāis completed
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
وَحْيُهُۥ ۖwaḥyuhuits revelation
وَقُلwaquland say
رَّبِّrabbiMy Lord
زِدْنِىzid'nīIncrease me
عِلْمًۭاʿil'man(in) knowledge
١١٤(114)
So high [above all] is Allāh, the Sovereign, the Truth. And, [O Muḥammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur’ān before its revelation is completed to you, and say, "My Lord, increase me in knowledge."

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
عَهِدْنَآʿahid'nāWe made a covenant
إِلَىٰٓilāwith
ءَادَمَādamaAdam
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُqablubefore
فَنَسِىَfanasiyabut he forgot
وَلَمْwalamand not
نَجِدْnajidWe found
لَهُۥlahuin him
عَزْمًۭاʿazmandetermination
١١٥(115)
And We had already taken a promise from Adam before, but he forgot; and We found not in him determination.

وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
قُلْنَاqul'nāWe said
لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِlil'malāikatito the Angels
ٱسْجُدُوا۟us'judūProstrate
لِـَٔادَمَliādamato Adam
فَسَجَدُوٓا۟fasajadūthen they prostrated
إِلَّآillāexcept
إِبْلِيسَib'līsaIblis
أَبَىٰabāhe refused
١١٦(116)
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except Iblees; he refused.

فَقُلْنَاfaqul'nāThen We said
يَـٰٓـَٔادَمُyāādamuO Adam
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwun(is) an enemy
لَّكَlakato you
وَلِزَوْجِكَwalizawjikaand to your wife
فَلَاfalāSo not
يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَاyukh'rijannakumā(let) him drive you both
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْجَنَّةِl-janatiParadise
فَتَشْقَىٰٓfatashqāso (that) you would suffer
١١٧(117)
So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
لَكَlakafor you
أَلَّاallāthat not
تَجُوعَtajūʿayou will be hungry
فِيهَاfīhātherein
وَلَاwalāand not
تَعْرَىٰtaʿrāyou will be unclothed
١١٨(118)
Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein or be unclothed.

وَأَنَّكَwa-annakaAnd that you
لَاlānot
تَظْمَؤُا۟taẓma-uwill suffer from thirst
فِيهَاfīhātherein
وَلَاwalāand not
تَضْحَىٰtaḍḥāexposed to the sun's heat
١١٩(119)
And indeed, you will not be thirsty therein or be hot from the sun."

فَوَسْوَسَfawaswasaThen whispered
إِلَيْهِilayhito him
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuShaitaan
قَالَqālahe said
يَـٰٓـَٔادَمُyāādamuO Adam
هَلْhalShall
أَدُلُّكَadullukaI direct you
عَلَىٰʿalāto
شَجَرَةِshajarati(the) tree
ٱلْخُلْدِl-khul'di(of) the Eternity
وَمُلْكٍۢwamul'kinand a kingdom
لَّاlānot
يَبْلَىٰyablā(that will) deteriorate
١٢٠(120)
Then Satan whispered to him; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?"

فَأَكَلَاfa-akalāThen they both ate
مِنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
فَبَدَتْfabadatso became apparent
لَهُمَاlahumāto them
سَوْءَٰتُهُمَاsawātuhumātheir shame
وَطَفِقَاwaṭafiqāand they began
يَخْصِفَانِyakhṣifāni(to) fasten
عَلَيْهِمَاʿalayhimāon themselves
مِنminfrom
وَرَقِwaraqi(the) leaves
ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚl-janati(of) Paradise
وَعَصَىٰٓwaʿaṣāAnd Adam disobeyed
ءَادَمُādamuAnd Adam disobeyed
رَبَّهُۥrabbahuhis Lord
فَغَوَىٰfaghawāand erred
١٢١(121)
And they [i.e., Adam and his wife] ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred.

ثُمَّthummaThen
ٱجْتَبَـٰهُij'tabāhuchose him
رَبُّهُۥrabbuhuhis Lord
فَتَابَfatābaand turned
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito him
وَهَدَىٰwahadāand guided (him)
١٢٢(122)
Then his Lord chose him and turned to him in forgiveness and guided [him].

قَالَqālaHe said
ٱهْبِطَاih'biṭāGo down
مِنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
جَمِيعًۢا ۖjamīʿanall
بَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumsome of you
لِبَعْضٍlibaʿḍinto others
عَدُوٌّۭ ۖʿaduwwun(as) enemy
فَإِمَّاfa-immāThen if
يَأْتِيَنَّكُمyatiyannakumcomes to you
مِّنِّىminnīfrom Me
هُدًۭىhudanguidance
فَمَنِfamanithen whoever
ٱتَّبَعَittabaʿafollows
هُدَاىَhudāyaMy guidance
فَلَاfalāthen not
يَضِلُّyaḍilluhe will go astray
وَلَاwalāand not
يَشْقَىٰyashqāsuffer
١٢٣(123)
[Allāh] said, "Descend from it [i.e., Paradise] - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter].

وَمَنْwamanAnd whoever
أَعْرَضَaʿraḍaturns away
عَنʿanfrom
ذِكْرِىdhik'rīMy remembrance
فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
لَهُۥlahufor him
مَعِيشَةًۭmaʿīshatan(is) a life
ضَنكًۭاḍankanstraitened
وَنَحْشُرُهُۥwanaḥshuruhuand We will gather him
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
أَعْمَىٰaʿmāblind
١٢٤(124)
And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed [i.e., difficult] life, and We will gather [i.e., raise] him on the Day of Resurrection blind."

قَالَqālaHe will say
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
لِمَlimaWhy
حَشَرْتَنِىٓḥashartanīYou raised me
أَعْمَىٰaʿmāblind
وَقَدْwaqadwhile [verily]
كُنتُkuntuI had
بَصِيرًۭاbaṣīransight
١٢٥(125)
He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?"

قَالَqālaHe will say
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
أَتَتْكَatatkacame to you
ءَايَـٰتُنَاāyātunāOur Signs
فَنَسِيتَهَا ۖfanasītahābut you forgot them
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaand thus
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmatoday
تُنسَىٰtunsāyou will be forgotten
١٢٦(126)
[Allāh] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot [i.e., disregarded] them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten."

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
نَجْزِىnajzīWe recompense
مَنْman(he) who
أَسْرَفَasrafatransgresses
وَلَمْwalamand not
يُؤْمِنۢyu'minbelieves
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyātiin (the) Signs
رَبِّهِۦ ۚrabbihi(of) his Lord
وَلَعَذَابُwalaʿadhābuAnd surely (the) punishment
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafter
أَشَدُّashaddu(is) more severe
وَأَبْقَىٰٓwa-abqāand more lasting
١٢٧(127)
And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring.

أَفَلَمْafalamThen has not
يَهْدِyahdiit guided
لَهُمْlahum[for] them
كَمْkamhow many
أَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe (have) destroyed
قَبْلَهُمqablahumbefore them
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generations
يَمْشُونَyamshūna(as) they walk
فِىfīin
مَسَـٰكِنِهِمْ ۗmasākinihimtheir dwellings
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely (are) Signs
لِّأُو۟لِىli-ulīfor possessors
ٱلنُّهَىٰl-nuhā(of) intelligence
١٢٨(128)
Then, has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence.

وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if not
كَلِمَةٌۭkalimatun(for) a Word
سَبَقَتْsabaqat(that) preceded
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
لَكَانَlakānasurely (would) have been
لِزَامًۭاlizāmanan obligation
وَأَجَلٌۭwa-ajalunand a term
مُّسَمًّۭىmusammandetermined
١٢٩(129)
And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it [i.e., punishment] would have been an obligation [due immediately], and [if not for] a specified term [decreed].

فَٱصْبِرْfa-iṣ'birSo be patient
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَاmāwhat
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey say
وَسَبِّحْwasabbiḥand glorify
بِحَمْدِbiḥamdiwith praise
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
قَبْلَqablabefore
طُلُوعِṭulūʿi(the) rising
ٱلشَّمْسِl-shamsi(of) the sun
وَقَبْلَwaqablaand before
غُرُوبِهَا ۖghurūbihāits setting
وَمِنْwaminand from
ءَانَآئِānāi(the) hours
ٱلَّيْلِal-layli(of) the night
فَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥand glorify
وَأَطْرَافَwa-aṭrāfa(at the) ends
ٱلنَّهَارِl-nahāri(of) the day
لَعَلَّكَlaʿallakaso that you may
تَرْضَىٰtarḍābe satisfied
١٣٠(130)
So be patient over what they say and exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied.

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَمُدَّنَّtamuddannaextend
عَيْنَيْكَʿaynaykayour eyes
إِلَىٰilātowards
مَاmāwhat
مَتَّعْنَاmattaʿnāWe have given for enjoyment
بِهِۦٓbihi[with it]
أَزْوَٰجًۭاazwājanpairs
مِّنْهُمْmin'humof them
زَهْرَةَzahrata(the) splendor
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
لِنَفْتِنَهُمْlinaftinahumthat We may test them
فِيهِ ۚfīhiin it
وَرِزْقُwariz'quAnd (the) provision
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) better
وَأَبْقَىٰwa-abqāand more lasting
١٣١(131)
And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [some] categories of them, [its being but] the splendor of worldly life by which We test them. And the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring.

وَأْمُرْwamurAnd enjoin
أَهْلَكَahlaka(on) your family
بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِbil-ṣalatithe prayer
وَٱصْطَبِرْwa-iṣ'ṭabirand be steadfast
عَلَيْهَا ۖʿalayhātherein
لَاlāNot
نَسْـَٔلُكَnasalukaWe ask you
رِزْقًۭا ۖriz'qan(for) provision
نَّحْنُnaḥnuWe
نَرْزُقُكَ ۗnarzuqukaprovide (for) you
وَٱلْعَـٰقِبَةُwal-ʿāqibatuand the outcome
لِلتَّقْوَىٰlilttaqwā(is) for the righteous[ness]
١٣٢(132)
And enjoin prayer upon your family [and people] and be steadfast therein. We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the [best] outcome is for [those of] righteousness.

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they say
لَوْلَاlawlāWhy not
يَأْتِينَاyatīnāhe brings us
بِـَٔايَةٍۢbiāyatina sign
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّهِۦٓ ۚrabbihihis Lord
أَوَلَمْawalamHas not
تَأْتِهِمtatihimcome to them
بَيِّنَةُbayyinatuevidence
مَاmā(of) what
فِىfī(was) in
ٱلصُّحُفِl-ṣuḥufithe Scriptures
ٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāthe former
١٣٣(133)
And they say, "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has there not come to them evidence of what was in the former scriptures?

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
أَنَّآannāWe
أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمahlaknāhum(had) destroyed them
بِعَذَابٍۢbiʿadhābinwith a punishment
مِّنminbefore him
قَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore him
لَقَالُوا۟laqālūsurely they (would) have said
رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
لَوْلَآlawlāwhy not
أَرْسَلْتَarsaltaYou sent
إِلَيْنَاilaynāto us
رَسُولًۭاrasūlana Messenger
فَنَتَّبِعَfanattabiʿaso we (could) have followed
ءَايَـٰتِكَāyātikaYour signs
مِنminbefore
قَبْلِqablibefore
أَنan[that]
نَّذِلَّnadhillawe were humiliated
وَنَخْزَىٰwanakhzāand disgraced
١٣٤(134)
And if We had destroyed them with a punishment before him, they would have said, "Our Lord, why did You not send to us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses [i.e., teachings] before we were humiliated and disgraced?"

قُلْqulSay
كُلٌّۭkullunEach
مُّتَرَبِّصٌۭmutarabbiṣun(is) waiting
فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ ۖfatarabbaṣūso await
فَسَتَعْلَمُونَfasataʿlamūnaThen you will know
مَنْmanwho
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companions
ٱلصِّرَٰطِl-ṣirāṭi(of) the way
ٱلسَّوِىِّl-sawiyi[the] even
وَمَنِwamaniand who
ٱهْتَدَىٰih'tadāis guided
١٣٥(135)
Say, "Each [of us] is waiting; so wait. For you will know who are the companions of the sound path and who is guided."
