ٱقْتَرَبَ
iq'taraba(Has) approached
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsifor [the] mankind
حِسَابُهُمْ
ḥisābuhumtheir account
وَهُمْ
wahumwhile they
فِى
(are) in
غَفْلَةٍۢ
ghaflatinheedlessness
مُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūnaturning away
١
(1)
[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.

مَا
Not
يَأْتِيهِم
yatīhimcomes to them
مِّن
minof
ذِكْرٍۢ
dhik'rina Reminder
مِّن
minfrom
رَّبِّهِم
rabbihimtheir Lord
مُّحْدَثٍ
muḥ'dathinanew
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ
is'tamaʿūhuthey listen to it
وَهُمْ
wahumwhile they
يَلْعَبُونَ
yalʿabūna(are at) play
٢
(2)
No mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play

لَاهِيَةًۭ
lāhiyatanDistracted
قُلُوبُهُمْ ۗ
qulūbuhumtheir hearts
وَأَسَرُّوا۟
wa-asarrūAnd they conceal
ٱلنَّجْوَى
l-najwāthe private conversation
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟
ẓalamū[they] wronged
هَلْ
halIs
هَـٰذَآ
hādhāthis
إِلَّا
illāexcept
بَشَرٌۭ
basharuna human being
مِّثْلُكُمْ ۖ
mith'lukumlike you
أَفَتَأْتُونَ
afatatūnaSo would you approach
ٱلسِّحْرَ
l-siḥ'rathe magic
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antumwhile you
تُبْصِرُونَ
tub'ṣirūnasee (it)
٣
(3)
With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?"

قَالَ
qālaHe said
رَبِّى
rabbīMy Lord
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamuknows
ٱلْقَوْلَ
l-qawlathe word
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ
wal-arḍiand the earth
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
l-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
٤
(4)
He [the Prophet (ﷺ)] said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing."

بَلْ
balNay
قَالُوٓا۟
qālūthey say
أَضْغَـٰثُ
aḍghāthuMuddled
أَحْلَـٰمٍۭ
aḥlāmindreams
بَلِ
balinay
ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ
if'tarāhuhe (has) invented it
بَلْ
balnay
هُوَ
huwahe
شَاعِرٌۭ
shāʿirun(is) a poet
فَلْيَأْتِنَا
falyatināSo let him bring us
بِـَٔايَةٍۢ
biāyatina sign
كَمَآ
kamālike what
أُرْسِلَ
ur'silawas sent
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
l-awalūna(to) the former
٥
(5)
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."

مَآ
Not
ءَامَنَتْ
āmanatbelieved
قَبْلَهُم
qablahumbefore them
مِّن
minany
قَرْيَةٍ
qaryatintown
أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ ۖ
ahlaknāhāwhich We destroyed
أَفَهُمْ
afahumso will they
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
٦
(6)
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe?

وَمَآ
wamāAnd not
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnāWe sent
قَبْلَكَ
qablakabefore you
إِلَّا
illāexcept
رِجَالًۭا
rijālanmen
نُّوحِىٓ
nūḥīWe revealed
إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ
ilayhimto them
فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟
fasalūSo ask
أَهْلَ
ahla(the) people
ٱلذِّكْرِ
l-dhik'ri(of) the Reminder
إِن
inif
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou
لَا
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnaknow
٧
(7)
And We sent not before you, [O Muḥammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
jaʿalnāhumWe made them
جَسَدًۭا
jasadanbodies
لَّا
not
يَأْكُلُونَ
yakulūnaeating
ٱلطَّعَامَ
l-ṭaʿāmathe food
وَمَا
wamāand not
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey were
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīnaimmortals
٨
(8)
And We did not make them [i.e., the prophets] forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth].

ثُمَّ
thummaThen
صَدَقْنَـٰهُمُ
ṣadaqnāhumuWe fulfilled (for) them
ٱلْوَعْدَ
l-waʿdathe promise
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُمْ
fa-anjaynāhumand We saved them
وَمَن
wamanand whom
نَّشَآءُ
nashāuWe willed
وَأَهْلَكْنَا
wa-ahlaknāand We destroyed
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
l-mus'rifīnathe transgressors
٩
(9)
Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors.

لَقَدْ
laqadIndeed
أَنزَلْنَآ
anzalnāWe (have) sent down
إِلَيْكُمْ
ilaykumto you
كِتَـٰبًۭا
kitābana Book
فِيهِ
fīhiin it
ذِكْرُكُمْ ۖ
dhik'rukum(is) your mention
أَفَلَا
afalāThen will not
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūnayou use reason
١٠
(10)
We have certainly sent down to you a Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in which is your mention. Then will you not reason?

وَكَمْ
wakamAnd how many
قَصَمْنَا
qaṣamnāWe (have) shattered
مِن
minof
قَرْيَةٍۢ
qaryatina town
كَانَتْ
kānat(that) was
ظَالِمَةًۭ
ẓālimatanunjust
وَأَنشَأْنَا
wa-anshanāand We produced
بَعْدَهَا
baʿdahāafter them
قَوْمًا
qawmananother people
ءَاخَرِينَ
ākharīnaanother people
١١
(11)
And how many a city which was unjust have We shattered and produced after it another people.

فَلَمَّآ
falammāThen when
أَحَسُّوا۟
aḥassūthey perceived
بَأْسَنَآ
basanāOur torment
إِذَا
idhābehold
هُم
humthey
مِّنْهَا
min'hāfrom it
يَرْكُضُونَ
yarkuḍūnawere fleeing
١٢
(12)
And when they [i.e., its inhabitants] perceived Our punishment, at once they fled from it.

لَا
Flee not
تَرْكُضُوا۟
tarkuḍūFlee not
وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟
wa-ir'jiʿūbut return
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
مَآ
what
أُتْرِفْتُمْ
ut'rif'tumyou were given luxury
فِيهِ
fīhiin it
وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْ
wamasākinikumand to your homes
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakumso that you may
تُسْـَٔلُونَ
tus'alūnabe questioned
١٣
(13)
[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned."

قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ
yāwaylanāO woe to us
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, [we]
كُنَّا
kunnāwe were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ
ẓālimīnawrongdoers
١٤
(14)
They said, "O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."

فَمَا
famāThen not
زَالَت
zālatceased
تِّلْكَ
til'ka[this]
دَعْوَىٰهُمْ
daʿwāhumtheir cry
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattāuntil
جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
jaʿalnāhumWe made them
حَصِيدًا
ḥaṣīdanreaped
خَـٰمِدِينَ
khāmidīnaextinct
١٥
(15)
And that declaration of theirs did not cease until We made them [as] a harvest [mowed down], extinguished [like a fire].

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnāWe created
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
l-samāathe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
وَمَا
wamāand what
بَيْنَهُمَا
baynahumā(is) between them
لَـٰعِبِينَ
lāʿibīna(for) playing
١٦
(16)
And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play.

لَوْ
lawIf
أَرَدْنَآ
aradnāWe intended
أَن
anthat
نَّتَّخِذَ
nattakhidhaWe take
لَهْوًۭا
lahwana pastime
لَّٱتَّخَذْنَـٰهُ
la-ittakhadhnāhusurely We (could have) taken it
مِن
minfrom
لَّدُنَّآ
ladunnāUs
إِن
inif
كُنَّا
kunnāWe were
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīnadoers
١٧
(17)
Had We intended to take a diversion, We could have taken it from [what is] with Us - if [indeed] We were to do so.

بَلْ
balNay
نَقْذِفُ
naqdhifuWe hurl
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqithe truth
عَلَى
ʿalāagainst
ٱلْبَـٰطِلِ
l-bāṭili[the] falsehood
فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ
fayadmaghuhuand it breaks its head
فَإِذَا
fa-idhābehold
هُوَ
huwait (is)
زَاهِقٌۭ ۚ
zāhiqunvanishing
وَلَكُمُ
walakumuAnd for you
ٱلْوَيْلُ
l-waylu(is) destruction
مِمَّا
mimmāfor what
تَصِفُونَ
taṣifūnayou ascribe
١٨
(18)
Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it, and thereupon it departs. And for you is destruction from that which you describe.

وَلَهُۥ
walahuAnd to Him (belongs)
مَن
manwhoever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ
wal-arḍiand the earth
وَمَنْ
wamanAnd (those) who
عِندَهُۥ
ʿindahu(are) near Him
لَا
not
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
yastakbirūnathey are arrogant
عَنْ
ʿanto
عِبَادَتِهِۦ
ʿibādatihiworship Him
وَلَا
walāand not
يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ
yastaḥsirūnathey tire
١٩
(19)
To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him [i.e., the angels] are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire.

يُسَبِّحُونَ
yusabbiḥūnaThey glorify (Him)
ٱلَّيْلَ
al-layla[the] night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
wal-nahāraand [the] day
لَا
not
يَفْتُرُونَ
yafturūnathey slacken
٢٠
(20)
They exalt [Him] night and day [and] do not slacken.

أَمِ
amiOr
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟
ittakhadhū(have) they taken
ءَالِهَةًۭ
ālihatangods
مِّنَ
minafrom
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
هُمْ
humthey
يُنشِرُونَ
yunshirūnaraise (the dead)
٢١
(21)
Or have they [i.e., men] taken for themselves gods from the earth who resurrect [the dead]?

لَوْ
lawIf
كَانَ
kāna(there) were
فِيهِمَآ
fīhimāin both of them
ءَالِهَةٌ
ālihatungods
إِلَّا
illābesides
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
لَفَسَدَتَا ۚ
lafasadatāsurely they (would) have been ruined
فَسُبْحَـٰنَ
fasub'ḥānaSo glorified
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(is) Allah
رَبِّ
rabbiLord
ٱلْعَرْشِ
l-ʿarshi(of) the Throne
عَمَّا
ʿammā(above) what
يَصِفُونَ
yaṣifūnathey attribute
٢٢
(22)
Had there been within them [i.e., the heavens and earth] gods besides Allāh, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allāh, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.

لَا
Not
يُسْـَٔلُ
yus'aluHe (can) be questioned
عَمَّا
ʿammāabout what
يَفْعَلُ
yafʿaluHe does
وَهُمْ
wahumbut they
يُسْـَٔلُونَ
yus'alūnawill be questioned
٢٣
(23)
He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.

أَمِ
amiOr
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟
ittakhadhū(have) they taken
مِن
minbesides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
dūnihibesides Him
ءَالِهَةًۭ ۖ
ālihatangods
قُلْ
qulSay
هَاتُوا۟
hātūBring
بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ ۖ
bur'hānakumyour proof
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
ذِكْرُ
dhik'ru(is) a Reminder
مَن
man(for those) who
مَّعِىَ
maʿiya(are) with me
وَذِكْرُ
wadhik'ruand a Reminder
مَن
man(for those) who
قَبْلِى ۗ
qablī(were) before me
بَلْ
balBut
أَكْثَرُهُمْ
aktharuhummost of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnaknow
ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ
l-ḥaqathe truth
فَهُم
fahumso they
مُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna(are) averse
٢٤
(24)
Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muḥammad], "Produce your proof. This [Qur’ān] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me." But most of them do not know the truth, so they are turning away.

وَمَآ
wamāAnd not
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnāWe sent
مِن
minbefore you
قَبْلِكَ
qablikabefore you
مِن
minany
رَّسُولٍ
rasūlinMessenger
إِلَّا
illābut
نُوحِىٓ
nūḥīWe reveal(ed)
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhito him
أَنَّهُۥ
annahuthat [He]
لَآ
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāhagod
إِلَّآ
illāexcept
أَنَا۠
anāMe
فَٱعْبُدُونِ
fa-uʿ'budūniso worship Me
٢٥
(25)
And We sent not before you any messenger except We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they say
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadhaHas taken
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
وَلَدًۭا ۗ
waladana son
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۚ
sub'ḥānahuGlorified is He
بَلْ
balNay
عِبَادٌۭ
ʿibādun(they are) slaves
مُّكْرَمُونَ
muk'ramūnahonored
٢٦
(26)
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants.

لَا
Not
يَسْبِقُونَهُۥ
yasbiqūnahuthey (can) precede Him
بِٱلْقَوْلِ
bil-qawliin word
وَهُم
wahumand they
بِأَمْرِهِۦ
bi-amrihiby His command
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnaact
٢٧
(27)
They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command.

يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamuHe knows
مَا
what
بَيْنَ
bayna(is) before them
أَيْدِيهِمْ
aydīhim(is) before them
وَمَا
wamāand what
خَلْفَهُمْ
khalfahum(is) behind them
وَلَا
walāand not
يَشْفَعُونَ
yashfaʿūnathey (can) intercede
إِلَّا
illāexcept
لِمَنِ
limanifor whom
ٱرْتَضَىٰ
ir'taḍāHe approves
وَهُم
wahumAnd they
مِّنْ
minfrom
خَشْيَتِهِۦ
khashyatihifear of Him
مُشْفِقُونَ
mush'fiqūnastand in awe
٢٨
(28)
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive.

۞ وَمَن
wamanAnd whoever
يَقُلْ
yaqulsays
مِنْهُمْ
min'humof them
إِنِّىٓ
innīIndeed, I am
إِلَـٰهٌۭ
ilāhuna god
مِّن
minbesides Him
دُونِهِۦ
dūnihibesides Him
فَذَٰلِكَ
fadhālikaThen that
نَجْزِيهِ
najzīhiWe will recompense
جَهَنَّمَ ۚ
jahannama(with) Hell
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālikaThus
نَجْزِى
najzīWe recompense
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٢٩
(29)
And whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him" - that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.

أَوَلَمْ
awalamDo not
يَرَ
yarasee
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
أَنَّ
annathat
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
كَانَتَا
kānatāwere
رَتْقًۭا
ratqana joined entity
فَفَتَقْنَـٰهُمَا ۖ
fafataqnāhumāthen We parted them
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnāand We made
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْمَآءِ
l-māi[the] water
كُلَّ
kullaevery
شَىْءٍ
shayinliving thing
حَىٍّ ۖ
ḥayyinliving thing
أَفَلَا
afalāThen will not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnathey believe
٣٠
(30)
Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and then We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?

وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnāAnd We (have) placed
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
رَوَٰسِىَ
rawāsiyafirmly set mountains
أَن
anlest
تَمِيدَ
tamīdait (should) shake
بِهِمْ
bihimwith them
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnāand We made
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
فِجَاجًۭا
fijājanbroad passes
سُبُلًۭا
subulan(as) ways
لَّعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَهْتَدُونَ
yahtadūna(be) guided
٣١
(31)
And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided.

وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnāAnd We made
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
l-samāathe sky
سَقْفًۭا
saqfana roof
مَّحْفُوظًۭا ۖ
maḥfūẓanprotected
وَهُمْ
wahumBut they
عَنْ
ʿanfrom
ءَايَـٰتِهَا
āyātihāits Signs
مُعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūnaturn away
٣٢
(32)
And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away.

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaqacreated
ٱلَّيْلَ
al-laylathe night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
wal-nahāraand the day
وَٱلشَّمْسَ
wal-shamsaand the sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ
wal-qamaraand the moon
كُلٌّۭ
kulluneach
فِى
in
فَلَكٍۢ
falakinan orbit
يَسْبَحُونَ
yasbaḥūnafloating
٣٣
(33)
And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming.

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnāWe made
لِبَشَرٍۢ
libasharinfor any man
مِّن
minbefore you
قَبْلِكَ
qablikabefore you
ٱلْخُلْدَ ۖ
l-khul'da[the] immortality
أَفَإِي۟ن
afa-inso if
مِّتَّ
mittayou die
فَهُمُ
fahumuthen (would) they
ٱلْخَـٰلِدُونَ
l-khālidūnalive forever
٣٤
(34)
And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal?

كُلُّ
kulluEvery
نَفْسٍۢ
nafsinsoul
ذَآئِقَةُ
dhāiqatu(will) taste
ٱلْمَوْتِ ۗ
l-mawti[the] death
وَنَبْلُوكُم
wanablūkumAnd We test you
بِٱلشَّرِّ
bil-shariwith [the] bad
وَٱلْخَيْرِ
wal-khayriand [the] good
فِتْنَةًۭ ۖ
fit'natan(as) a trial
وَإِلَيْنَا
wa-ilaynāand to Us
تُرْجَعُونَ
tur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
٣٥
(35)
Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.

وَإِذَا
wa-idhāAnd when
رَءَاكَ
raākathey see you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarūdisbelieve
إِن
innot
يَتَّخِذُونَكَ
yattakhidhūnakathey take you
إِلَّا
illāexcept
هُزُوًا
huzuwan(in) ridicule
أَهَـٰذَا
ahādhāIs this
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthe one who
يَذْكُرُ
yadhkurumentions
ءَالِهَتَكُمْ
ālihatakumyour gods
وَهُم
wahumAnd they
بِذِكْرِ
bidhik'riat (the) mention
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni(of) the Most Gracious
هُمْ
hum[they]
كَـٰفِرُونَ
kāfirūna(are) disbelievers
٣٦
(36)
And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muḥammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who mentions [i.e., insults] your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers.

خُلِقَ
khuliqaIs created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānuthe man
مِنْ
minof
عَجَلٍۢ ۚ
ʿajalinhaste
سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ
sa-urīkumI will show you
ءَايَـٰتِى
āyātīMy Signs
فَلَا
falāso (do) not
تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ
tastaʿjilūniask Me to hasten
٣٧
(37)
Man was created of haste [i.e., impatience]. I will show you My signs [i.e., vengeance], so do not impatiently urge Me.

وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaqūlūnaAnd they say
مَتَىٰ
matāWhen (will be fulfilled)
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
ٱلْوَعْدُ
l-waʿdupromise
إِن
inif
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīnatruthful
٣٨
(38)
And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamuknew
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
حِينَ
ḥīna(the) time
لَا
(when) not
يَكُفُّونَ
yakuffūnathey will avert
عَن
ʿanfrom
وُجُوهِهِمُ
wujūhihimutheir faces
ٱلنَّارَ
l-nārathe Fire
وَلَا
walāand not
عَن
ʿanfrom
ظُهُورِهِمْ
ẓuhūrihimtheir backs
وَلَا
walāand not
هُمْ
humthey
يُنصَرُونَ
yunṣarūnawill be helped
٣٩
(39)
If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...

بَلْ
balNay
تَأْتِيهِم
tatīhimit will come to them
بَغْتَةًۭ
baghtatanunexpectedly
فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ
fatabhatuhumand bewilder them
فَلَا
falāthen not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
yastaṭīʿūnathey will be able
رَدَّهَا
raddahāto repel it
وَلَا
walāand not
هُمْ
humthey
يُنظَرُونَ
yunẓarūnawill be given respite
٤٠
(40)
Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.

وَلَقَدِ
walaqadiAnd verily
ٱسْتُهْزِئَ
us'tuh'zi-awere mocked
بِرُسُلٍۢ
birusulinMessengers
مِّن
minbefore you
قَبْلِكَ
qablikabefore you
فَحَاقَ
faḥāqathen surrounded
بِٱلَّذِينَ
bi-alladhīnathose who
سَخِرُوا۟
sakhirūmocked
مِنْهُم
min'humfrom them
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used
بِهِۦ
bihiat it
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
yastahziūna(to) mock
٤١
(41)
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

قُلْ
qulSay
مَن
manWho
يَكْلَؤُكُم
yakla-ukum(can) protect you
بِٱلَّيْلِ
bi-al-layliin the night
وَٱلنَّهَارِ
wal-nahāriand the day
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۗ
l-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
بَلْ
balYet
هُمْ
humthey
عَن
ʿanfrom
ذِكْرِ
dhik'ri(the) remembrance
رَبِّهِم
rabbihim(of) their Lord
مُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūnaturn away
٤٢
(42)
Say, "Who can protect you at night or by day from the Most Merciful?" But they are, from the remembrance of their Lord, turning away.

لَهُمْ
lahumhave they
ءَالِهَةٌۭ
ālihatungods
تَمْنَعُهُم
tamnaʿuhum(to) defend them
مِّن
minfrom
دُونِنَا ۚ

لَا
Not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
yastaṭīʿūnathey are able
نَصْرَ
naṣra(to) help
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihimthemselves
وَلَا
walāand not
هُم
humthey
مِّنَّا
minnāfrom Us
يُصْحَبُونَ
yuṣ'ḥabūnacan be protected
٤٣
(43)
Or do they have gods to defend them other than Us? They are unable [even] to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us.

بَلْ
balNay
مَتَّعْنَا
mattaʿnāWe gave provision
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi(to) these
وَءَابَآءَهُمْ
waābāahumand their fathers
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattāuntil
طَالَ
ṭālagrew long
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimufor them
ٱلْعُمُرُ ۗ
l-ʿumuruthe life
أَفَلَا
afalāThen do not
يَرَوْنَ
yarawnathey see
أَنَّا
annāthat We
نَأْتِى
natīWe come
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa(to) the land
نَنقُصُهَا
nanquṣuhāWe reduce it
مِنْ
minfrom
أَطْرَافِهَآ ۚ
aṭrāfihāits borders
أَفَهُمُ
afahumuSo is (it) they
ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
l-ghālibūna(who will be) overcoming
٤٤
(44)
But, [on the contrary], We have provided good things for these [disbelievers] and their fathers until life was prolonged for them. Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders? Is it they who will overcome?

قُلْ
qulSay
إِنَّمَآ
innamāOnly
أُنذِرُكُم
undhirukumI warn you
بِٱلْوَحْىِ ۚ
bil-waḥyiby the revelation
وَلَا
walāBut not
يَسْمَعُ
yasmaʿuhear
ٱلصُّمُّ
l-ṣumuthe deaf
ٱلدُّعَآءَ
l-duʿāathe call
إِذَا
idhāwhen
مَا
when
يُنذَرُونَ
yundharūnathey are warned
٤٥
(45)
Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.

وَلَئِن
wala-inAnd if
مَّسَّتْهُمْ
massathumtouches them
نَفْحَةٌۭ
nafḥatuna whiff
مِّنْ
minof
عَذَابِ
ʿadhābi(the) punishment
رَبِّكَ
rabbika(of) your Lord
لَيَقُولُنَّ
layaqūlunnasurely they will say
يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ
yāwaylanāO woe to us
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, we
كُنَّا
kunnā[we] were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ
ẓālimīnawrongdoers
٤٦
(46)
And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."

وَنَضَعُ
wanaḍaʿuAnd We set
ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ
l-mawāzīnathe scales
ٱلْقِسْطَ
l-qis'ṭa(of) the justice
لِيَوْمِ
liyawmifor (the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
فَلَا
falāso not
تُظْلَمُ
tuẓ'lamuwill be wronged
نَفْسٌۭ
nafsunany soul
شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ
shayan(in) anything
وَإِن
wa-inAnd if
كَانَ
kāna(there) be
مِثْقَالَ
mith'qālaweight
حَبَّةٍۢ
ḥabbatin(of) a seed
مِّنْ
minof
خَرْدَلٍ
khardalina mustard
أَتَيْنَا
ataynāWe will bring
بِهَا ۗ
bihā[with] it
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafāAnd sufficient
بِنَا
binā(are) We
حَـٰسِبِينَ
ḥāsibīna(as) Reckoners
٤٧
(47)
And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd verily
ءَاتَيْنَا
ātaynāWe gave
مُوسَىٰ
mūsāMusa
وَهَـٰرُونَ
wahārūnaand Harun
ٱلْفُرْقَانَ
l-fur'qānathe Criterion
وَضِيَآءًۭ
waḍiyāanand a light
وَذِكْرًۭا
wadhik'ranand a Reminder
لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
lil'muttaqīnafor the righteous
٤٨
(48)
And We had already given Moses and Aaron the criterion and a light and a reminder for the righteous

ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnaThose who
يَخْشَوْنَ
yakhshawnafear
رَبَّهُم
rabbahumtheir Lord
بِٱلْغَيْبِ
bil-ghaybiin the unseen
وَهُم
wahumand they
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
l-sāʿatithe Hour
مُشْفِقُونَ
mush'fiqūna(are) afraid
٤٩
(49)
Who fear their Lord unseen, while they are of the Hour apprehensive.

وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhāAnd this
ذِكْرٌۭ
dhik'run(is) a Reminder
مُّبَارَكٌ
mubārakunblessed
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ ۚ
anzalnāhuwhich We (have) revealed
أَفَأَنتُمْ
afa-antumThen are you
لَهُۥ
lahuof it
مُنكِرُونَ
munkirūnarejecters
٥٠
(50)
And this [Qur’ān] is a blessed message which We have sent down. Then are you with it unacquainted?

۞ وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd verily
ءَاتَيْنَآ
ātaynāWe gave
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīmaIbrahim
رُشْدَهُۥ
rush'dahuhis guidance
مِن
minbefore
قَبْلُ
qablubefore
وَكُنَّا
wakunnāand We were
بِهِۦ
bihiabout him
عَـٰلِمِينَ
ʿālimīnaWell-Knowing
٥١
(51)
And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing

قَالَ

لِأَبِيهِ
li-abīhito his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦ
waqawmihiand his people
مَا
What
هَـٰذِهِ
hādhihi(are) these
ٱلتَّمَاثِيلُ
l-tamāthīlu[the] statues
ٱلَّتِىٓ
allatīwhich
أَنتُمْ
antumyou
لَهَا
lahāto it
عَـٰكِفُونَ
ʿākifūna(are) devoted
٥٢
(52)
When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?"

قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
وَجَدْنَآ
wajadnāWe found
ءَابَآءَنَا
ābāanāour forefathers
لَهَا
lahāof them
عَـٰبِدِينَ
ʿābidīnaworshippers
٥٣
(53)
They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them."

قَالَ
qālaHe said
لَقَدْ
laqadVerily
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou are
أَنتُمْ
antum[you]
وَءَابَآؤُكُمْ
waābāukumand your forefathers
فِى
(were) in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ
ḍalālinan error
مُّبِينٍۢ
mubīninmanifest
٥٤
(54)
He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error."

قَالُوٓا۟
qālūThey said
أَجِئْتَنَا
aji'tanāHave you come to us
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqiwith the truth
أَمْ
amor
أَنتَ
antayou
مِنَ
mina(are) of
ٱللَّـٰعِبِينَ
l-lāʿibīnathose who play
٥٥
(55)
They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?"

قَالَ
qālaHe said
بَل
balNay
رَّبُّكُمْ
rabbukumyour Lord
رَبُّ
rabbu(is the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍiand the earth
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthe One Who
فَطَرَهُنَّ
faṭarahunnacreated them
وَأَنَا۠
wa-anāand I am
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāto
ذَٰلِكُم
dhālikumthat
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
l-shāhidīnathe witnesses
٥٦
(56)
He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify.

وَتَٱللَّهِ
watal-lahiAnd by Allah
لَأَكِيدَنَّ
la-akīdannasurely, I will plan
أَصْنَـٰمَكُم
aṣnāmakum(against) your idols
بَعْدَ
baʿdaafter
أَن
an[that]
تُوَلُّوا۟
tuwallūyou go away
مُدْبِرِينَ
mud'birīnaturning (your) backs
٥٧
(57)
And [I swear] by Allāh, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away."

فَجَعَلَهُمْ
fajaʿalahumSo he made them
جُذَٰذًا
judhādhan(into) pieces
إِلَّا
illāexcept
كَبِيرًۭا
kabīrana large (one)
لَّهُمْ
lahumof them
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhito it
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūnareturn
٥٨
(58)
So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question].

قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
مَن
manWho
فَعَلَ
faʿala(has) done
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
بِـَٔالِهَتِنَآ
biālihatināto our gods
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, he
لَمِنَ
lamina(is) of
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٥٩
(59)
They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers."

قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
سَمِعْنَا
samiʿ'nāWe heard
فَتًۭى
fatana youth
يَذْكُرُهُمْ
yadhkuruhummention them
يُقَالُ
yuqāluhe is called
لَهُۥٓ
lahuhe is called
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
ib'rāhīmuIbrahim
٦٠
(60)
They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham."

قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
فَأْتُوا۟
fatūThen bring
بِهِۦ
bihihim
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalābefore
أَعْيُنِ
aʿyuni(the) eyes
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsi(of) the people
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَشْهَدُونَ
yashhadūnabear witness
٦١
(61)
They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify."

قَالُوٓا۟
qālūThey said
ءَأَنتَ
a-antaHave you
فَعَلْتَ
faʿaltadone
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
بِـَٔالِهَتِنَا
biālihatināto our gods
يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
yāib'rāhīmuO Ibrahim
٦٢
(62)
They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?"

قَالَ
qālaHe said
بَلْ
balNay
فَعَلَهُۥ
faʿalahu(some doer) did it
كَبِيرُهُمْ
kabīruhumTheir chief
هَـٰذَا
hādhā(is) this
فَسْـَٔلُوهُمْ
fasalūhumSo ask them
إِن
inif
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey (can)
يَنطِقُونَ
yanṭiqūnaspeak
٦٣
(63)
He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak."

فَرَجَعُوٓا۟
farajaʿūSo they returned
إِلَىٰٓ
ilāto
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihimthemselves
فَقَالُوٓا۟
faqālūand said
إِنَّكُمْ
innakumIndeed, you
أَنتُمُ
antumu[you]
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūna(are) the wrongdoers
٦٤
(64)
So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers."

ثُمَّ
thummaThen
نُكِسُوا۟
nukisūthey were turned
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
رُءُوسِهِمْ
ruūsihimtheir heads
لَقَدْ
laqadVerily
عَلِمْتَ
ʿalim'tayou know
مَا
not
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāithese
يَنطِقُونَ
yanṭiqūna(can) speak
٦٥
(65)
Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!"

قَالَ
qālaHe said
أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ
afataʿbudūnaThen do you worship
مِن
minbesides
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
مَا
what
لَا
(does) not
يَنفَعُكُمْ
yanfaʿukumbenefit you
شَيْـًۭٔا
shayan(in) anything
وَلَا
walāand not
يَضُرُّكُمْ
yaḍurrukumharms you
٦٦
(66)
He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allāh that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?

أُفٍّۢ
uffinUff
لَّكُمْ
lakumto you
وَلِمَا
walimāand to what
تَعْبُدُونَ
taʿbudūnayou worship
مِن
minbesides
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ ۖ
l-lahiAllah
أَفَلَا
afalāThen will not
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūnayou use reason
٦٧
(67)
Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allāh. Then will you not use reason?"

قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
حَرِّقُوهُ
ḥarriqūhuBurn him
وَٱنصُرُوٓا۟
wa-unṣurūand support
ءَالِهَتَكُمْ
ālihatakumyour gods
إِن
inif
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou are
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīnadoers
٦٨
(68)
They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act."

قُلْنَا
qul'nāWe said
يَـٰنَارُ
yānāruO fire
كُونِى
kūnīBe
بَرْدًۭا
bardancool[ness]
وَسَلَـٰمًا
wasalāmanand safe[ty]
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāfor
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīmaIbrahim
٦٩
(69)
We [i.e., Allāh] said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."

وَأَرَادُوا۟
wa-arādūAnd they intended
بِهِۦ
bihifor him
كَيْدًۭا
kaydana plan
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ
fajaʿalnāhumubut We made them
ٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ
l-akhsarīnathe greatest losers
٧٠
(70)
And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the greatest losers.

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ
wanajjaynāhuAnd We delivered him
وَلُوطًا
walūṭanand Lut
إِلَى
ilāto
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe land
ٱلَّتِى
allatīwhich
بَـٰرَكْنَا
bāraknāWe (had) blessed
فِيهَا
fīhā[in it]
لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
lil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
٧١
(71)
And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds [i.e., peoples].

وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnāAnd We bestowed
لَهُۥٓ
lahuon him
إِسْحَـٰقَ
is'ḥāqaIsaac
وَيَعْقُوبَ
wayaʿqūbaand Yaqub
نَافِلَةًۭ ۖ
nāfilatan(in) addition
وَكُلًّۭا
wakullanand all
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnāWe made
صَـٰلِحِينَ
ṣāliḥīnarighteous
٧٢
(72)
And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.

وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
wajaʿalnāhumAnd We made them
أَئِمَّةًۭ
a-immatanleaders
يَهْدُونَ
yahdūnathey guide
بِأَمْرِنَا
bi-amrināby Our Command
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ
wa-awḥaynāAnd We inspired
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhimto them
فِعْلَ
fiʿ'la(the) doing
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ
l-khayrāti(of) good deeds
وَإِقَامَ
wa-iqāmaand establishment
ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
l-ṣalati(of) the prayer
وَإِيتَآءَ
waītāaand giving
ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ ۖ
l-zakati(of) zakah
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānūand they were
لَنَا
lanāof Us
عَـٰبِدِينَ
ʿābidīnaworshippers
٧٣
(73)
And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakāh; and they were worshippers of Us.

وَلُوطًا
walūṭanAnd (to) Lut
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ
ātaynāhuWe gave him
حُكْمًۭا
ḥuk'manjudgment
وَعِلْمًۭا
waʿil'manand knowledge
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ
wanajjaynāhuand We saved him
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْقَرْيَةِ
l-qaryatithe town
ٱلَّتِى
allatīwhich
كَانَت
kānatwas
تَّعْمَلُ
taʿmaludoing
ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ ۗ
l-khabāithawicked deeds
إِنَّهُمْ
innahumIndeed, they
كَانُوا۟
kānūwere
قَوْمَ
qawmaa people
سَوْءٍۢ
sawinevil
فَـٰسِقِينَ
fāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
٧٤
(74)
And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient.

وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُ
wa-adkhalnāhuAnd We admitted him
فِى
into
رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ
raḥmatināOur Mercy
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, he
مِنَ
mina(was) of
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
l-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
٧٥
(75)
And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous.

وَنُوحًا
wanūḥanAnd Nuh
إِذْ
idhwhen
نَادَىٰ
nādāhe called
مِن
minbefore
قَبْلُ
qablubefore
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا
fa-is'tajabnāso We responded
لَهُۥ
lahuto him
فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ
fanajjaynāhuand We saved him
وَأَهْلَهُۥ
wa-ahlahuand his family
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْكَرْبِ
l-karbithe affliction
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
l-ʿaẓīmi[the] great
٧٦
(76)
And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allāh] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great affliction [i.e., the flood].

وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُ
wanaṣarnāhuAnd We helped him
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmithe people
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnawho
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabūdenied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۚ
biāyātināOur Signs
إِنَّهُمْ
innahumIndeed, they
كَانُوا۟
kānūwere
قَوْمَ
qawmaa people
سَوْءٍۢ
sawinevil
فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ
fa-aghraqnāhumso We drowned them
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīnaall
٧٧
(77)
And We aided [i.e., saved] him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together.

وَدَاوُۥدَ
wadāwūdaAnd Dawud
وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ
wasulaymānaand Sulaiman
إِذْ
idhwhen
يَحْكُمَانِ
yaḥkumānithey judged
فِى
concerning
ٱلْحَرْثِ
l-ḥarthithe field
إِذْ
idhwhen
نَفَشَتْ
nafashatpastured
فِيهِ
fīhiin it
غَنَمُ
ghanamusheep
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmi(of) a people
وَكُنَّا
wakunnāand We were
لِحُكْمِهِمْ
liḥuk'mihimto their judgment
شَـٰهِدِينَ
shāhidīnawitness
٧٨
(78)
And [mention] David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field - when the sheep of a people overran it [at night], and We were witness to their judgement.

فَفَهَّمْنَـٰهَا
fafahhamnāhāAnd We gave understanding of it
سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ
sulaymāna(to) Sulaiman
وَكُلًّا
wakullanand (to) each
ءَاتَيْنَا
ātaynāWe gave
حُكْمًۭا
ḥuk'manjudgment
وَعِلْمًۭا ۚ
waʿil'manand knowledge
وَسَخَّرْنَا
wasakharnāAnd We subjected
مَعَ
maʿawith
دَاوُۥدَ
dāwūdaDawud
ٱلْجِبَالَ
l-jibālathe mountains
يُسَبِّحْنَ
yusabbiḥ'na(to) glorify Our praises
وَٱلطَّيْرَ ۚ
wal-ṭayraand the birds
وَكُنَّا
wakunnāAnd We were
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīnathe Doers
٧٩
(79)
And We gave understanding of it [i.e., the case] to Solomon, and to each [of them] We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt [Us], along with David and [also] the birds. And We were doing [that].

وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ
waʿallamnāhuAnd We taught him
صَنْعَةَ
ṣanʿata(the) making
لَبُوسٍۢ
labūsin(of) coats of armor
لَّكُمْ
lakumfor you
لِتُحْصِنَكُم
lituḥ'ṣinakumto protect you
مِّنۢ
minfrom
بَأْسِكُمْ ۖ
basikumyour battle
فَهَلْ
fahalThen will
أَنتُمْ
antumyou
شَـٰكِرُونَ
shākirūna(be) grateful
٨٠
(80)
And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful?

81
وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ
walisulaymānaAnd to Sulaiman
ٱلرِّيحَ
l-rīḥathe wind
عَاصِفَةًۭ
ʿāṣifatanforcefully
تَجْرِى
tajrīblowing
بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ
bi-amrihiby his command
إِلَى
ilāto
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe land
ٱلَّتِى
allatīwhich
بَـٰرَكْنَا
bāraknāWe blessed
فِيهَا ۚ
fīhā[in it]
وَكُنَّا
wakunnāAnd We are
بِكُلِّ
bikulliof every
شَىْءٍ
shayinthing
عَـٰلِمِينَ
ʿālimīnaKnowers
٨١
(81)
And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing.

وَمِنَ
waminaAnd of
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
l-shayāṭīnithe devils
مَن
man(were some) who
يَغُوصُونَ
yaghūṣūnawould dive
لَهُۥ
lahufor him
وَيَعْمَلُونَ
wayaʿmalūnaand would do
عَمَلًۭا
ʿamalanwork
دُونَ
dūnaother than
ذَٰلِكَ ۖ
dhālikathat
وَكُنَّا
wakunnāAnd We were
لَهُمْ
lahumof them
حَـٰفِظِينَ
ḥāfiẓīnaGuardians
٨٢
(82)
And of the devils [i.e., jinn] were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian.

۞ وَأَيُّوبَ
wa-ayyūbaAnd Ayub
إِذْ
idhwhen
نَادَىٰ
nādāhe called
رَبَّهُۥٓ
rabbahu(to) his Lord
أَنِّى
annīIndeed, [I]
مَسَّنِىَ
massaniyahas touched me
ٱلضُّرُّ
l-ḍuruthe adversity
وَأَنتَ
wa-antaand You
أَرْحَمُ
arḥamu(are) Most Merciful
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
l-rāḥimīna(of) the Merciful
٨٣
(83)
And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful."

84
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا
fa-is'tajabnāSo We responded
لَهُۥ
lahuto him
فَكَشَفْنَا
fakashafnāand We removed
مَا
what
بِهِۦ
bihi(was) on him
مِن
minof
ضُرٍّۢ ۖ
ḍurrin(the) adversity
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ
waātaynāhuAnd We gave him
أَهْلَهُۥ
ahlahuhis family
وَمِثْلَهُم
wamith'lahumand (the) like thereof
مَّعَهُمْ
maʿahumwith them
رَحْمَةًۭ
raḥmatan(as) Mercy
مِّنْ
minfrom Ourselves
عِندِنَا
ʿindināfrom Ourselves
وَذِكْرَىٰ
wadhik'rāand a reminder
لِلْعَـٰبِدِينَ
lil'ʿābidīnafor the worshippers
٨٤
(84)
So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allāh].

وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ
wa-is'māʿīlaAnd Ishmael
وَإِدْرِيسَ
wa-id'rīsaand Idris
وَذَا
wadhāand Dhul-Kifl
ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ
l-kif'liand Dhul-Kifl
كُلٌّۭ
kullunall
مِّنَ
mina(were) of
ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
l-ṣābirīnathe patient ones
٨٥
(85)
And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.

وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْ
wa-adkhalnāhumAnd We admitted them
فِى
in
رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ
raḥmatināOur Mercy
إِنَّهُم
innahumIndeed, they
مِّنَ
mina(were) of
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
l-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
٨٦
(86)
And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.

وَذَا
wadhāAnd Dhun-Nun
ٱلنُّونِ
l-nūniAnd Dhun-Nun
إِذ
idhwhen
ذَّهَبَ
dhahabahe went
مُغَـٰضِبًۭا
mughāḍiban(while) angry
فَظَنَّ
faẓannaand thought
أَن
anthat
لَّن
lannever
نَّقْدِرَ
naqdiraWe would decree
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhiupon him
فَنَادَىٰ
fanādāThen he called
فِى
in
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ
l-ẓulumātithe darkness(es)
أَن
anthat
لَّآ
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāhagod
إِلَّآ
illāexcept
أَنتَ
antaYou
سُبْحَـٰنَكَ
sub'ḥānakaGlory be to You
إِنِّى
innīIndeed, [I]
كُنتُ
kuntuI am
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٨٧
(87)
And [mention] the man of the fish [i.e., Jonah], when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا
fa-is'tajabnāSo We responded
لَهُۥ
lahuto him
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ
wanajjaynāhuand We saved him
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْغَمِّ ۚ
l-ghamithe distress
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
نُـۨجِى
nunjīWe save
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīnathe believers
٨٨
(88)
So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.

89
وَزَكَرِيَّآ
wazakariyyāAnd Zakariya
إِذْ
idhwhen
نَادَىٰ
nādāhe called
رَبَّهُۥ
rabbahu(to) his Lord
رَبِّ
rabbiMy Lord
لَا
(Do) not
تَذَرْنِى
tadharnīleave me
فَرْدًۭا
fardanalone
وَأَنتَ
wa-antawhile You
خَيْرُ
khayru(are) [the] Best
ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
l-wārithīna(of) the inheritors
٨٩
(89)
And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while You are the best of inheritors."

90
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا
fa-is'tajabnāSo We responded
لَهُۥ
lahuto him
وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnāand We bestowed
لَهُۥ
lahuon him
يَحْيَىٰ
yaḥyāYahya
وَأَصْلَحْنَا
wa-aṣlaḥnāand We cured
لَهُۥ
lahufor him
زَوْجَهُۥٓ ۚ
zawjahuhis wife
إِنَّهُمْ
innahumIndeed, they
كَانُوا۟
kānūused (to)
يُسَـٰرِعُونَ
yusāriʿūnahasten
فِى
in
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ
l-khayrātigood deeds
وَيَدْعُونَنَا
wayadʿūnanāand they supplicate to Us
رَغَبًۭا
raghaban(in) hope
وَرَهَبًۭا ۖ
warahabanand fear
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānūand they were
لَنَا
lanāto Us
خَـٰشِعِينَ
khāshiʿīnahumbly submissive
٩٠
(90)
So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive.

وَٱلَّتِىٓ
wa-allatīAnd she who
أَحْصَنَتْ
aḥṣanatguarded
فَرْجَهَا
farjahāher chastity
فَنَفَخْنَا
fanafakhnāso We breathed
فِيهَا
fīhāinto her
مِن
minof
رُّوحِنَا
rūḥināOur Spirit
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا
wajaʿalnāhāand We made her
وَٱبْنَهَآ
wa-ib'nahāand her son
ءَايَةًۭ
āyatana sign
لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
lil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
٩١
(91)
And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity [i.e., Mary], so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [i.e., Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.

92
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ
hādhihithis
أُمَّتُكُمْ
ummatukum(is) your religion
أُمَّةًۭ
ummatanreligion
وَٰحِدَةًۭ
wāḥidatanone
وَأَنَا۠
wa-anāand I Am
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukumyour Lord
فَٱعْبُدُونِ
fa-uʿ'budūniso worship Me
٩٢
(92)
Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.

93
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟
wataqaṭṭaʿūBut they cut off
أَمْرَهُم
amrahumtheir affair
بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ
baynahumamong themselves
كُلٌّ
kullunall
إِلَيْنَا
ilaynāto Us
رَٰجِعُونَ
rājiʿūna(will) return
٩٣
(93)
And [yet] they divided their affair [i.e., that of their religion] among themselves, [but] all to Us will return.

94
فَمَن
famanThen whoever
يَعْمَلْ
yaʿmaldoes
مِنَ
mina[of]
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
l-ṣāliḥāti[the] righteous deeds
وَهُوَ
wahuwawhile he
مُؤْمِنٌۭ
mu'minun(is) a believer
فَلَا
falāthen not
كُفْرَانَ
kuf'rāna(will be) rejected
لِسَعْيِهِۦ
lisaʿyihi[of] his effort
وَإِنَّا
wa-innāAnd indeed, We
لَهُۥ
lahuof it
كَـٰتِبُونَ
kātibūna(are) Recorders
٩٤
(94)
So whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer - no denial will there be for his effort, and indeed We [i.e., Our angels], of it, are recorders.

وَحَرَٰمٌ
waḥarāmunAnd (there is) prohibition
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāupon
قَرْيَةٍ
qaryatina city
أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ
ahlaknāhāwhich We have destroyed
أَنَّهُمْ
annahumthat they
لَا
not
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūnawill return
٩٥
(95)
And it is prohibited to [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return

حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāUntil
إِذَا
idhāwhen
فُتِحَتْ
futiḥathas been opened
يَأْجُوجُ
yajūju(for) the Yajuj
وَمَأْجُوجُ
wamajūjuand Majuj
وَهُم
wahumand they
مِّن
minfrom
كُلِّ
kullievery
حَدَبٍۢ
ḥadabinelevation
يَنسِلُونَ
yansilūnadescend
٩٦
(96)
Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend

وَٱقْتَرَبَ
wa-iq'tarabaAnd has approached
ٱلْوَعْدُ
l-waʿduthe promise
ٱلْحَقُّ
l-ḥaqu[the] true
فَإِذَا
fa-idhāthen behold
هِىَ
hiya[it]
شَـٰخِصَةٌ
shākhiṣatun(are) staring
أَبْصَـٰرُ
abṣāru(the) eyes
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
يَـٰوَيْلَنَا
yāwaylanāO woe to us
قَدْ
qadVerily
كُنَّا
kunnāwe had been
فِى
in
غَفْلَةٍۢ
ghaflatinheedlessness
مِّنْ
minof
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
بَلْ
balnay
كُنَّا
kunnāwe were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ
ẓālimīnawrongdoers
٩٧
(97)
And [when] the true promise [i.e., the resurrection] has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."

إِنَّكُمْ
innakumIndeed, you
وَمَا
wamāand what
تَعْبُدُونَ
taʿbudūnayou worship
مِن
minbesides Allah
دُونِ
dūnibesides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahibesides Allah
حَصَبُ
ḥaṣabu(are) firewood
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama(of) Hell
أَنتُمْ
antumYou
لَهَا
lahāto it
وَٰرِدُونَ
wāridūnawill come
٩٨
(98)
Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allāh are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.

لَوْ
lawIf
كَانَ
kānawere
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāithese
ءَالِهَةًۭ
ālihatangods
مَّا
not
وَرَدُوهَا ۖ
waradūhāthey (would) have come to it
وَكُلٌّۭ
wakullunAnd all
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnawill abide forever
٩٩
(99)
Had these [false deities] been [actual] gods, they would not have come to it, but all are eternal therein.

لَهُمْ
lahumFor them
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
زَفِيرٌۭ
zafīrun(is) sighing
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
لَا
not
يَسْمَعُونَ
yasmaʿūnawill hear
١٠٠
(100)
For them therein is heavy sighing, and they therein will not hear.

إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose
سَبَقَتْ
sabaqathas gone forth
لَهُم
lahumfor them
مِّنَّا
minnāfrom Us
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓ
l-ḥus'nāthe good
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikathose
عَنْهَا
ʿanhāfrom it
مُبْعَدُونَ
mub'ʿadūna(will be) removed far
١٠١
(101)
Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed.

لَا
Not
يَسْمَعُونَ
yasmaʿūnathey will hear
حَسِيسَهَا ۖ
ḥasīsahā(the) slightest sound of it
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
فِى
in
مَا
what
ٱشْتَهَتْ
ish'tahatdesire
أَنفُسُهُمْ
anfusuhumtheir souls
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnawill abide forever
١٠٢
(102)
They will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally.

103
لَا
Not
يَحْزُنُهُمُ
yaḥzunuhumuwill grieve them
ٱلْفَزَعُ
l-fazaʿuthe terror
ٱلْأَكْبَرُ
l-akbaru[the] greatest
وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ
watatalaqqāhumuand will meet them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatuthe Angels
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
يَوْمُكُمُ
yawmukumu(is) your Day
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīwhich
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou were
تُوعَدُونَ
tūʿadūnapromised
١٠٣
(103)
They will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised" -

يَوْمَ
yawma(The) Day
نَطْوِى
naṭwīWe will fold
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
l-samāathe heaven
كَطَىِّ
kaṭayyilike (the) folding
ٱلسِّجِلِّ
l-sijili(of) a scroll
لِلْكُتُبِ ۚ
lil'kutubifor records
كَمَا
kamāAs
بَدَأْنَآ
badanāWe began
أَوَّلَ
awwala(the) first
خَلْقٍۢ
khalqincreation
نُّعِيدُهُۥ ۚ
nuʿīduhuWe will repeat it
وَعْدًا
waʿdana promise
عَلَيْنَآ ۚ
ʿalaynāupon Us
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, We
كُنَّا
kunnāWe are
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīna(the) Doers
١٠٤
(104)
The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd verily
كَتَبْنَا
katabnāWe have written
فِى
in
ٱلزَّبُورِ
l-zabūrithe Scripture
مِنۢ
minafter
بَعْدِ
baʿdiafter
ٱلذِّكْرِ
l-dhik'rithe mention
أَنَّ
annathat
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍathe earth
يَرِثُهَا
yarithuhāwill inherit it
عِبَادِىَ
ʿibādiyaMy slaves
ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ
l-ṣāliḥūnathe righteous
١٠٥
(105)
And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.

إِنَّ
innaIndeed
فِى
in
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
لَبَلَـٰغًۭا
labalāghansurely is a Message
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawminfor a people
عَـٰبِدِينَ
ʿābidīnaworshippers
١٠٦
(106)
Indeed, in this [Qur’ān] is notification for a worshipping people.

107
وَمَآ
wamāAnd not
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ
arsalnākaWe have sent you
إِلَّا
illābut
رَحْمَةًۭ
raḥmatan(as) a mercy
لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
lil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
١٠٧
(107)
And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.

قُلْ
qulSay
إِنَّمَا
innamāOnly
يُوحَىٰٓ
yūḥāit is revealed
إِلَىَّ
ilayyato me
أَنَّمَآ
annamāthat
إِلَـٰهُكُمْ
ilāhukumyour god
إِلَـٰهٌۭ
ilāhun(is) God
وَٰحِدٌۭ ۖ
wāḥidunOne
فَهَلْ
fahalso will
أَنتُم
antumyou
مُّسْلِمُونَ
mus'limūnasubmit (to Him)
١٠٨
(108)
Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?"

فَإِن
fa-inBut if
تَوَلَّوْا۟
tawallawthey turn away
فَقُلْ
faqulthen say
ءَاذَنتُكُمْ
ādhantukumI (have) announced to you
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāequally
سَوَآءٍۢ ۖ
sawāinequally
وَإِنْ
wa-inAnd not
أَدْرِىٓ
adrīI know
أَقَرِيبٌ
aqarībunwhether is near
أَم
amor
بَعِيدٌۭ
baʿīdunfar
مَّا
what
تُوعَدُونَ
tūʿadūnayou are promised
١٠٩
(109)
But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally. And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised.

إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, He
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamuknows
ٱلْجَهْرَ
l-jahrathe declared
مِنَ
mina[of]
ٱلْقَوْلِ
l-qawli[the] speech
وَيَعْلَمُ
wayaʿlamuand He knows
مَا
what
تَكْتُمُونَ
taktumūnayou conceal
١١٠
(110)
Indeed, He knows what is declared of speech, and He knows what you conceal.

وَإِنْ
wa-inAnd not
أَدْرِى
adrīI know
لَعَلَّهُۥ
laʿallahuperhaps it may be
فِتْنَةٌۭ
fit'natuna trial
لَّكُمْ
lakumfor you
وَمَتَـٰعٌ
wamatāʿunand an enjoyment
إِلَىٰ
ilāfor
حِينٍۢ
ḥīnina time
١١١
(111)
And I know not; perhaps it is a trial for you and enjoyment for a time."

قَـٰلَ
qālaHe said
رَبِّ
rabbiMy Lord
ٱحْكُم
uḥ'kumjudge
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ
bil-ḥaqiin truth
وَرَبُّنَا
warabbunāAnd our Lord
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānu(is) the Most Gracious
ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ
l-mus'taʿānuthe One Whose help is sought
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāagainst
مَا
what
تَصِفُونَ
taṣifūnayou attribute
١١٢
(112)
[The Prophet (ﷺ)] has said, "My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe."
