تِلْكَtil'kaThese
ءَايَـٰتُāyātu(are the) Verses
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
ٱلْمُبِينِl-mubīnithe clear
٢(2)
These are verses of the clear Book.
Juz 20Page 385
نَتْلُوا۟natlūWe recite
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
مِنminfrom
نَّبَإِnaba-i(the) news
مُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musa
وَفِرْعَوْنَwafir'ʿawnaand Firaun
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truth
لِقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
٣(3)
We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for a people who believe.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
عَلَاʿalāexalted himself
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand made
أَهْلَهَاahlahāits people
شِيَعًۭاshiyaʿan(into) sects
يَسْتَضْعِفُyastaḍʿifuoppressing
طَآئِفَةًۭṭāifatana group
مِّنْهُمْmin'humamong them
يُذَبِّحُyudhabbiḥuslaughtering
أَبْنَآءَهُمْabnāahumtheir sons
وَيَسْتَحْىِۦwayastaḥyīand letting live
نِسَآءَهُمْ ۚnisāahumtheir women
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
كَانَkānawas
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīnathe corrupters
٤(4)
Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters.

وَنُرِيدُwanurīduAnd We wanted
أَنanto
نَّمُنَّnamunnabestow a favor
عَلَىʿalāupon
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟us'tuḍ'ʿifūwere oppressed
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
وَنَجْعَلَهُمْwanajʿalahumand make them
أَئِمَّةًۭa-immatanleaders
وَنَجْعَلَهُمُwanajʿalahumuand make them
ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَl-wārithīnathe inheritors
٥(5)
And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors

وَنُمَكِّنَwanumakkinaAnd [We] establish
لَهُمْlahumthem
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
وَنُرِىَwanuriyaand show
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَهَـٰمَـٰنَwahāmānaand Haman
وَجُنُودَهُمَاwajunūdahumāand their hosts
مِنْهُمmin'humthrough them
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
يَحْذَرُونَyaḥdharūnafearing
٦(6)
And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Hāmān and their soldiers through them that which they had feared.

وَأَوْحَيْنَآwa-awḥaynāAnd We inspired
إِلَىٰٓilā[to]
أُمِّummi(the) mother
مُوسَىٰٓmūsā(of) Musa
أَنْanthat
أَرْضِعِيهِ ۖarḍiʿīhiSuckle him
فَإِذَاfa-idhābut when
خِفْتِkhif'tiyou fear
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor him
فَأَلْقِيهِfa-alqīhithen cast him
فِىfīin(to)
ٱلْيَمِّl-yamithe river
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَخَافِىtakhāfīfear
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَحْزَنِىٓ ۖtaḥzanīgrieve
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
رَآدُّوهُrāddūhu(will) restore him
إِلَيْكِilaykito you
وَجَاعِلُوهُwajāʿilūhuand (will) make him
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers
٧(7)
And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers."

فَٱلْتَقَطَهُۥٓfal-taqaṭahuThen picked him up
ءَالُālu(the) family
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
لِيَكُونَliyakūnaso that he might become
لَهُمْlahumto them
عَدُوًّۭاʿaduwwanan enemy
وَحَزَنًا ۗwaḥazananand a grief
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَهَـٰمَـٰنَwahāmānaand Haman
وَجُنُودَهُمَاwajunūdahumāand their hosts
كَانُوا۟kānūwere
خَـٰطِـِٔينَkhāṭiīnasinners
٨(8)
And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Hāmān and their soldiers were deliberate sinners.

وَقَالَتِwaqālatiAnd said
ٱمْرَأَتُim'ra-atu(the) wife
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaun
قُرَّتُqurratuA comfort
عَيْنٍۢʿaynin(of the) eye
لِّىlīfor me
وَلَكَ ۖwalakaand for you
لَاlā(Do) not
تَقْتُلُوهُtaqtulūhukill him
عَسَىٰٓʿasāperhaps
أَنan(that)
يَنفَعَنَآyanfaʿanāhe may benefit us
أَوْawor
نَتَّخِذَهُۥnattakhidhahuwe may take him
وَلَدًۭاwaladan(as) a son
وَهُمْwahumAnd they
لَاlā(did) not
يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
٩(9)
And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye [i.e., pleasure] for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not.

وَأَصْبَحَwa-aṣbaḥaAnd became
فُؤَادُfuādu(the) heart
أُمِّummi(of the) mother
مُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musa
فَـٰرِغًا ۖfārighanempty
إِنinThat
كَادَتْkādatshe was near
لَتُبْدِىlatub'dī(to) disclosing
بِهِۦbihiabout him
لَوْلَآlawlāif not
أَنanthat
رَّبَطْنَاrabaṭnāWe strengthened
عَلَىٰʿalā[over]
قَلْبِهَاqalbihāher heart
لِتَكُونَlitakūnaso that she would be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
١٠(10)
And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers.

وَقَالَتْwaqālatAnd she said
لِأُخْتِهِۦli-ukh'tihito his sister
قُصِّيهِ ۖquṣṣīhiFollow him
فَبَصُرَتْfabaṣuratSo she watched
بِهِۦbihihim
عَنʿanfrom
جُنُبٍۢjunubina distance
وَهُمْwahumwhile they
لَاlā(did) not
يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
١١(11)
And she said to his sister, "Follow him"; so she watched him from a distance while they perceived not.

۞ وَحَرَّمْنَاwaḥarramnāAnd We had forbidden
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor him
ٱلْمَرَاضِعَl-marāḍiʿathe wet nurses
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُqablubefore
فَقَالَتْfaqālatso she said
هَلْhalShall I
أَدُلُّكُمْadullukumdirect you
عَلَىٰٓʿalāto
أَهْلِahli(the) people
بَيْتٍۢbaytin(of) a house
يَكْفُلُونَهُۥyakfulūnahuwho will rear him
لَكُمْlakumfor you
وَهُمْwahumwhile they
لَهُۥlahuto him
نَـٰصِحُونَnāṣiḥūna(will be) sincere
١٢(12)
And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?"

فَرَدَدْنَـٰهُfaradadnāhuSo We restored him
إِلَىٰٓilāto
أُمِّهِۦummihihis mother
كَىْkaythat
تَقَرَّtaqarramight be comforted
عَيْنُهَاʿaynuhāher eye
وَلَاwalāand not
تَحْزَنَtaḥzanashe may grieve
وَلِتَعْلَمَwalitaʿlamaand that she would know
أَنَّannathat
وَعْدَwaʿdathe Promise of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahithe Promise of Allah
حَقٌّۭḥaqqun(is) true
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnaBut
أَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of them
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
١٣(13)
So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allāh is true. But most of them [i.e., the people] do not know.

وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
بَلَغَbalaghahe reached
أَشُدَّهُۥashuddahuhis full strength
وَٱسْتَوَىٰٓwa-is'tawāand became mature
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُātaynāhuWe bestowed upon him
حُكْمًۭاḥuk'manwisdom
وَعِلْمًۭا ۚwaʿil'manand knowledge
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
نَجْزِىnajzīWe reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
١٤(14)
And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good.

وَدَخَلَwadakhalaAnd he entered
ٱلْمَدِينَةَl-madīnatathe city
عَلَىٰʿalāat
حِينِḥīnia time
غَفْلَةٍۢghaflatin(of) inattention
مِّنْminof
أَهْلِهَاahlihāits people
فَوَجَدَfawajadaand found
فِيهَاfīhātherein
رَجُلَيْنِrajulaynitwo men
يَقْتَتِلَانِyaqtatilānifighting each other
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
مِنminof
شِيعَتِهِۦshīʿatihihis party
وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāand this
مِنْminof
عَدُوِّهِۦ ۖʿaduwwihihis enemy
فَٱسْتَغَـٰثَهُfa-is'taghāthahuAnd called him for help
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one who
مِنmin(was) from
شِيعَتِهِۦshīʿatihihis party
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one who
مِنْmin(was) from
عَدُوِّهِۦʿaduwwihihis enemy
فَوَكَزَهُۥfawakazahuso Musa struck him with his fist
مُوسَىٰmūsāso Musa struck him with his fist
فَقَضَىٰfaqaḍāand killed him
عَلَيْهِ ۖʿalayhiand killed him
قَالَqālaHe said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis (is)
مِنْminof
عَمَلِʿamali(the) deed
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۖl-shayṭāni(of) Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwun(is) an enemy
مُّضِلٌّۭmuḍillunone who misleads
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclearly
١٥(15)
And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy."

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I
ظَلَمْتُẓalamtu[I] have wronged
نَفْسِىnafsīmy soul
فَٱغْفِرْfa-igh'firso forgive
لِىlī[for] me
فَغَفَرَfaghafaraThen He forgave
لَهُۥٓ ۚlahu[for] him
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed He
هُوَhuwaHe (is)
ٱلْغَفُورُl-ghafūruthe Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
١٦(16)
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
بِمَآbimāBecause
أَنْعَمْتَanʿamtaYou have favored
عَلَىَّʿalayya[on] me
فَلَنْfalanso not
أَكُونَakūnaI will be
ظَهِيرًۭاẓahīrana supporter
لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَlil'muj'rimīna(of) the criminals
١٧(17)
He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals."

فَأَصْبَحَfa-aṣbaḥaIn the morning he was
فِىfīin
ٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnatithe city
خَآئِفًۭاkhāifanfearful
يَتَرَقَّبُyataraqqabu(and) was vigilant
فَإِذَاfa-idhāwhen behold
ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe one who
ٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥis'tanṣarahusought his help
بِٱلْأَمْسِbil-amsithe previous day
يَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥ ۚyastaṣrikhuhucried out to him for help
قَالَqālaSaid
لَهُۥlahuto him
مُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusa
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
لَغَوِىٌّۭlaghawiyyun(are) surely a deviator
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear
١٨(18)
And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator."

فَلَمَّآfalammāThen when
أَنْan[that]
أَرَادَarādahe wanted
أَنanto
يَبْطِشَyabṭishastrike
بِٱلَّذِىbi-alladhīthe one who
هُوَhuwa[he] (was)
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwunan enemy
لَّهُمَاlahumāto both of them
قَالَqālahe said
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
أَتُرِيدُaturīduDo you intend
أَنanto
تَقْتُلَنِىtaqtulanīkill me
كَمَاkamāas
قَتَلْتَqataltayou killed
نَفْسًۢاnafsana person
بِٱلْأَمْسِ ۖbil-amsiyesterday
إِنinNot
تُرِيدُturīduyou want
إِلَّآillābut
أَنanthat
تَكُونَtakūnayou become
جَبَّارًۭاjabbārana tyrant
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَمَاwamāand not
تُرِيدُturīduyou want
أَنanthat
تَكُونَtakūnayou be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَl-muṣ'liḥīnathe reformers
١٩(19)
And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders."

وَجَآءَwajāaAnd came
رَجُلٌۭrajuluna man
مِّنْminfrom
أَقْصَاaqṣā(the) farthest end
ٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnati(of) the city
يَسْعَىٰyasʿārunning
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْمَلَأَl-mala-athe chiefs
يَأْتَمِرُونَyatamirūnaare taking counsel
بِكَbikaabout you
لِيَقْتُلُوكَliyaqtulūkato kill you
فَٱخْرُجْfa-ukh'rujso leave
إِنِّىinnīindeed, I am
لَكَlakato you
مِنَminaof
ٱلنَّـٰصِحِينَl-nāṣiḥīnathe sincere advisors
٢٠(20)
And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, "O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors."

فَخَرَجَfakharajaSo he left
مِنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
خَآئِفًۭاkhāifanfearing
يَتَرَقَّبُ ۖyataraqqabu(and) vigilant
قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
نَجِّنِىnajjinīSave me
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٢١(21)
So he left it, fearful and anticipating [apprehension]. He said, "My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people."

وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
تَوَجَّهَtawajjahahe turned his face
تِلْقَآءَtil'qāatowards
مَدْيَنَmadyanaMadyan
قَالَqālahe said
عَسَىٰʿasāPerhaps
رَبِّىٓrabbīmy Lord
أَنan[that]
يَهْدِيَنِىyahdiyanīwill guide me
سَوَآءَsawāa(to the) sound
ٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīliway
٢٢(22)
And when he directed himself toward Madyan, he said, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the sound way."

وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
وَرَدَwaradahe came
مَآءَmāa(to the) water
مَدْيَنَmadyana(of) Madyan
وَجَدَwajadahe found
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion it
أُمَّةًۭummatana group
مِّنَminaof
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsimen
يَسْقُونَyasqūnawatering
وَوَجَدَwawajadaand he found
مِنminbesides them
دُونِهِمُdūnihimubesides them
ٱمْرَأَتَيْنِim'ra-ataynitwo women
تَذُودَانِ ۖtadhūdānikeeping back
قَالَqālaHe said
مَاmāWhat
خَطْبُكُمَا ۖkhaṭbukumā(is the) matter with both of you
قَالَتَاqālatāThey said
لَاlāWe cannot water
نَسْقِىnasqīWe cannot water
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يُصْدِرَyuṣ'diratake away
ٱلرِّعَآءُ ۖl-riʿāuthe shepherds
وَأَبُونَاwa-abūnāand our father
شَيْخٌۭshaykhun(is) a very old man
كَبِيرٌۭkabīrun(is) a very old man
٢٣(23)
And when he came to the water [i.e., well] of Madyan, he found there a crowd of people watering [their flocks], and he found aside from them two women holding back [their flocks]. He said, "What is your circumstance?" They said, "We do not water until the shepherds dispatch [their flocks]; and our father is an old man."

فَسَقَىٰfasaqāSo he watered
لَهُمَاlahumāfor them
ثُمَّthummaThen
تَوَلَّىٰٓtawallāhe turned back
إِلَىilāto
ٱلظِّلِّl-ẓilithe shade
فَقَالَfaqālaand said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
لِمَآlimāof whatever
أَنزَلْتَanzaltaYou send
إِلَىَّilayyato me
مِنْminof
خَيْرٍۢkhayringood
فَقِيرٌۭfaqīrun(in) need
٢٤(24)
So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need."

فَجَآءَتْهُfajāathuThen came to him
إِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of the two women
تَمْشِىtamshīwalking
عَلَىʿalāwith
ٱسْتِحْيَآءٍۢis'tiḥ'yāinshyness
قَالَتْqālatShe said
إِنَّinnaIndeed
أَبِىabīmy father
يَدْعُوكَyadʿūkacalls you
لِيَجْزِيَكَliyajziyakathat he may reward you
أَجْرَajra(the) reward
مَاmā(for) what
سَقَيْتَsaqaytayou watered
لَنَا ۚlanāfor us
فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
جَآءَهُۥjāahuhe came to him
وَقَصَّwaqaṣṣaand narrated
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito him
ٱلْقَصَصَl-qaṣaṣathe story
قَالَqālahe said
لَاlā(Do) not
تَخَفْ ۖtakhaffear
نَجَوْتَnajawtaYou have escaped
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٢٥(25)
Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness. She said, "Indeed, my father invites you that he may reward you for having watered for us." So when he came to him and related to him the story, he said, "Fear not. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people."

قَالَتْqālatSaid
إِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of them
يَـٰٓأَبَتِyāabatiO my father
ٱسْتَـْٔجِرْهُ ۖis'tajir'huHire him
إِنَّinnaIndeed
خَيْرَkhayra(the) best
مَنِmaniwhom
ٱسْتَـْٔجَرْتَis'tajartayou (can) hire
ٱلْقَوِىُّl-qawiyu(is) the strong
ٱلْأَمِينُl-amīnuthe trustworthy
٢٦(26)
One of the women said, "O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy."

قَالَqālaHe said
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أُرِيدُurīdu[I] wish
أَنْanto
أُنكِحَكَunkiḥakamarry you to
إِحْدَىiḥ'dāone
ٱبْنَتَىَّib'natayya(of) my daughters
هَـٰتَيْنِhātayni(of) these two
عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
أَنanthat
تَأْجُرَنِىtajuranīyou serve me
ثَمَـٰنِىَthamāniya(for) eight
حِجَجٍۢ ۖḥijajinyears
فَإِنْfa-inbut if
أَتْمَمْتَatmamtayou complete
عَشْرًۭاʿashranten
فَمِنْfaminthen from
عِندِكَ ۖʿindikayou
وَمَآwamāAnd not
أُرِيدُurīduI wish
أَنْanto
أَشُقَّashuqqamake it difficult
عَلَيْكَ ۚʿalaykafor you
سَتَجِدُنِىٓsatajidunīYou will find me
إِنinif
شَآءَshāaAllah wills
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah wills
مِنَminaof
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
٢٧(27)
He said, "Indeed, I wish to wed you one of these, my two daughters, on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be [as a favor] from you. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allāh wills, from among the righteous."

قَالَqālaHe said
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
بَيْنِىbaynī(is) between me
وَبَيْنَكَ ۖwabaynakaand between you
أَيَّمَاayyamāWhichever
ٱلْأَجَلَيْنِl-ajalayni(of) the two terms
قَضَيْتُqaḍaytuI complete
فَلَاfalāthen no
عُدْوَٰنَʿud'wānainjustice
عَلَىَّ ۖʿalayyato me
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allah
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَاmāwhat
نَقُولُnaqūluwe say
وَكِيلٌۭwakīlun(is) a Witness
٢٨(28)
[Moses] said, "That is [established] between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I complete - there is no injustice to me, and Allāh, over what we say, is Witness."

۞ فَلَمَّاfalammāThen when
قَضَىٰqaḍāMusa fulfilled
مُوسَىmūsāMusa fulfilled
ٱلْأَجَلَl-ajalathe term
وَسَارَwasāraand was traveling
بِأَهْلِهِۦٓbi-ahlihiwith his family
ءَانَسَānasahe saw
مِنminin
جَانِبِjānibi(the) direction
ٱلطُّورِl-ṭūri(of) Mount Tur
نَارًۭاnārana fire
قَالَqālaHe said
لِأَهْلِهِli-ahlihito his family
ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟um'kuthūStay here
إِنِّىٓinnīindeed, I
ءَانَسْتُānastu[I] perceive
نَارًۭاnārana fire
لَّعَلِّىٓlaʿallīPerhaps
ءَاتِيكُمātīkumI will bring you
مِّنْهَاmin'hāfrom there
بِخَبَرٍbikhabarinsome information
أَوْawor
جَذْوَةٍۢjadhwatina burning wood
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe fire
لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تَصْطَلُونَtaṣṭalūnawarm yourselves
٢٩(29)
And when Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he perceived from the direction of the mount a fire. He said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I will bring you from there [some] information or burning wood from the fire that you may warm yourselves."

فَلَمَّآfalammāBut when
أَتَىٰهَاatāhāhe came (to) it
نُودِىَnūdiyahe was called
مِنminfrom
شَـٰطِئِshāṭi-i(the) side
ٱلْوَادِl-wādi(of) the valley
ٱلْأَيْمَنِl-aymanithe right
فِىfīin
ٱلْبُقْعَةِl-buq'ʿatithe place even
ٱلْمُبَـٰرَكَةِl-mubārakatiblessed
مِنَminafrom
ٱلشَّجَرَةِl-shajaratithe tree
أَنanthat
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed
أَنَاanāI Am
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
رَبُّrabbu(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٣٠(30)
But when he came to it, he was called from the right side of the valley in a blessed spot - from the tree, "O Moses, indeed I am Allāh, Lord of the worlds."

وَأَنْwa-anAnd [that]
أَلْقِalqithrow
عَصَاكَ ۖʿaṣākayour staff
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
رَءَاهَاraāhāhe saw it
تَهْتَزُّtahtazzumoving
كَأَنَّهَاka-annahāas if it
جَآنٌّۭjānnun(were) a snake
وَلَّىٰwallāhe turned
مُدْبِرًۭاmud'biran(in) flight
وَلَمْwalamand (did) not
يُعَقِّبْ ۚyuʿaqqibreturn
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
أَقْبِلْaqbilDraw near
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَخَفْ ۖtakhaffear
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
مِنَmina(are) of
ٱلْـَٔامِنِينَl-āminīnathe secure
٣١(31)
And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it was a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allāh said], "O Moses, approach and fear not. Indeed, you are of the secure.

ٱسْلُكْus'lukInsert
يَدَكَyadakayour hand
فِىfīin
جَيْبِكَjaybikayour bosom
تَخْرُجْtakhrujit will come forth
بَيْضَآءَbayḍāawhite
مِنْminwithout
غَيْرِghayriwithout
سُوٓءٍۢsūinany harm
وَٱضْمُمْwa-uḍ'mumAnd draw
إِلَيْكَilaykato yourselves
جَنَاحَكَjanāḥakayour hand
مِنَminaagainst
ٱلرَّهْبِ ۖl-rahbifear
فَذَٰنِكَfadhānikaSo these
بُرْهَـٰنَانِbur'hānāni(are) two evidences
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
إِلَىٰilāto
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦٓ ۚwamala-ihiand his chiefs
إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, they
كَانُوا۟kānūare
قَوْمًۭاqawmana people
فَـٰسِقِينَfāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
٣٢(32)
Insert your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white, without disease. And draw in your arm close to you [as prevention] from fear, for those are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his establishment. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient."

قَالَqālaHe said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
إِنِّىinnīIndeed
قَتَلْتُqataltuI killed
مِنْهُمْmin'humof them
نَفْسًۭاnafsana man
فَأَخَافُfa-akhāfuand I fear
أَنanthat
يَقْتُلُونِyaqtulūnithey will kill me
٣٣(33)
He said, "My Lord, indeed I killed from among them someone, and I fear they will kill me.

وَأَخِىwa-akhīAnd my brother
هَـٰرُونُhārūnuHarun
هُوَhuwahe
أَفْصَحُafṣaḥu(is) more eloquent
مِنِّىminnīthan me
لِسَانًۭاlisānan(in) speech
فَأَرْسِلْهُfa-arsil'huso send him
مَعِىَmaʿiyawith me
رِدْءًۭاrid'an(as) a helper
يُصَدِّقُنِىٓ ۖyuṣaddiqunīwho will confirm me
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed
أَخَافُakhāfuI fear
أَنanthat
يُكَذِّبُونِyukadhibūnithey will deny me
٣٤(34)
And my brother Aaron is more fluent than me in tongue, so send him with me as support, verifying me. Indeed, I fear that they will deny me."

قَالَqālaHe said
سَنَشُدُّsanashudduWe will strengthen
عَضُدَكَʿaḍudakayour arm
بِأَخِيكَbi-akhīkathrough your brother
وَنَجْعَلُwanajʿaluand We will make
لَكُمَاlakumāfor both of you
سُلْطَـٰنًۭاsul'ṭānanan authority
فَلَاfalāso not
يَصِلُونَyaṣilūnathey will reach
إِلَيْكُمَا ۚilaykumāto both of you
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināThrough Our Signs
أَنتُمَاantumāyou two
وَمَنِwamaniand (those) who
ٱتَّبَعَكُمَاittabaʿakumāfollow you
ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَl-ghālibūna(will) be the dominant
٣٥(35)
[Allāh] said, "We will strengthen your arm through your brother and grant you both supremacy so they will not reach you. [It will be] through Our signs; you and those who follow you will be the predominant."
Juz 20Page 389
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
جَآءَهُمjāahumcame to them
مُّوسَىٰmūsāMusa
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our Signs
بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢbayyinātinclear
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
مَاmāNot
هَـٰذَآhādhā(is) this
إِلَّاillāexcept
سِحْرٌۭsiḥ'runa magic
مُّفْتَرًۭىmuf'taraninvented
وَمَاwamāand not
سَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāwe heard
بِهَـٰذَاbihādhāof this
فِىٓfīamong
ءَابَآئِنَاābāināour forefathers
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnaour forefathers
٣٦(36)
But when Moses came to them with Our signs as clear evidences, they said, "This is not except invented magic, and we have not heard of this [religion] among our forefathers."

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd Musa said
مُوسَىٰmūsāAnd Musa said
رَبِّىٓrabbīMy Lord
أَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows best
بِمَنbimanof who
جَآءَjāahas come
بِٱلْهُدَىٰbil-hudāwith [the] guidance
مِنْminfrom Him
عِندِهِۦʿindihifrom Him
وَمَنwamanand who
تَكُونُtakūnuwill be
لَهُۥlahufor him
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatuthe good end in the Hereafter
ٱلدَّارِ ۖl-dārithe good end in the Hereafter
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed
لَاlānot
يُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill be successful
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
٣٧(37)
And Moses said, "My Lord is more knowing [than we or you] of who has come with guidance from Him and to whom will be succession in the home. Indeed, wrongdoers do not succeed."

وَقَالَwaqālaAnd Firaun said
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuAnd Firaun said
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO chiefs
ٱلْمَلَأُl-mala-uO chiefs
مَاmāNot
عَلِمْتُʿalim'tuI know
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنْminany
إِلَـٰهٍilāhingod
غَيْرِىghayrīother than me
فَأَوْقِدْfa-awqidSo kindle
لِىlīfor me
يَـٰهَـٰمَـٰنُyāhāmānuO Haman
عَلَىʿalāUpon
ٱلطِّينِl-ṭīnithe clay
فَٱجْعَلfa-ij'ʿaland make
لِّىlīfor me
صَرْحًۭاṣarḥana lofty tower
لَّعَلِّىٓlaʿallīso that [I]
أَطَّلِعُaṭṭaliʿuI may look
إِلَىٰٓilāat
إِلَـٰهِilāhi(the) God
مُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musa
وَإِنِّىwa-innīAnd indeed, I
لَأَظُنُّهُۥla-aẓunnuhu[I] think that he
مِنَmina(is) of
ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars
٣٨(38)
And Pharaoh said, "O eminent ones, I have not known you to have a god other than me. Then ignite for me, O Hāmān, [a fire] upon the clay and make for me a tower that I may look at the God of Moses. And indeed, I do think he is among the liars."

وَٱسْتَكْبَرَwa-is'takbaraAnd he was arrogant
هُوَhuwaAnd he was arrogant
وَجُنُودُهُۥwajunūduhuand his hosts
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
ٱلْحَقِّl-ḥaqiright
وَظَنُّوٓا۟waẓannūand they thought
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
إِلَيْنَاilaynāto Us
لَاlānot
يُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnawill be returned
٣٩(39)
And he was arrogant, he and his soldiers, in the land, without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us.
Juz 20Page 390
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُfa-akhadhnāhuSo We seized him
وَجُنُودَهُۥwajunūdahuand his hosts
فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْfanabadhnāhumand We threw them
فِىfīin
ٱلْيَمِّ ۖl-yamithe sea
فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurSo see
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(of) the wrongdoers
٤٠(40)
So We took him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea. So see how was the end of the wrongdoers.
Juz 20Page 390
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْwajaʿalnāhumAnd We made them
أَئِمَّةًۭa-immatanleaders
يَدْعُونَyadʿūnainviting
إِلَىilāto
ٱلنَّارِ ۖl-nārithe Fire
وَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
لَاlānot
يُنصَرُونَyunṣarūnathey will be helped
٤١(41)
And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.
Juz 20Page 390
وَأَتْبَعْنَـٰهُمْwa-atbaʿnāhumAnd We caused to follow them
فِىfīin
هَـٰذِهِhādhihithis
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāworld
لَعْنَةًۭ ۖlaʿnatana curse
وَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
هُمhumthey
مِّنَmina(will be) of
ٱلْمَقْبُوحِينَl-maqbūḥīnathe despised
٤٢(42)
And We caused to overtake them in this world a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be of the despised.

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
ءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gave
مُوسَىmūsāMusa
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Scripture
مِنۢminafter [what]
بَعْدِbaʿdiafter [what]
مَآmāafter [what]
أَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe had destroyed
ٱلْقُرُونَl-qurūnathe generations
ٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāformer
بَصَآئِرَbaṣāira(as) an enlightenment
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankind
وَهُدًۭىwahudanand a guidance
وَرَحْمَةًۭwaraḥmatanand mercy
لَّعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumthat they may
يَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnaremember
٤٣(43)
And We gave Moses the Scripture, after We had destroyed the former generations, as enlightenment for the people and guidance and mercy that they might be reminded.

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كُنتَkuntayou were
بِجَانِبِbijānibion (the) side
ٱلْغَرْبِىِّl-gharbiyiwestern
إِذْidhwhen
قَضَيْنَآqaḍaynāWe decreed
إِلَىٰilāto
مُوسَىmūsāMusa
ٱلْأَمْرَl-amrathe Commandment
وَمَاwamāand not
كُنتَkuntayou were
مِنَminaamong
ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَl-shāhidīnathe witnesses
٤٤(44)
And you, [O Muḥammad], were not on the western side [of the mount] when We revealed to Moses the command, and you were not among the witnesses [to that].

وَلَـٰكِنَّآwalākinnāBut We
أَنشَأْنَاanshanā[We] produced
قُرُونًۭاqurūnangenerations
فَتَطَاوَلَfataṭāwalaand prolonged
عَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimufor them
ٱلْعُمُرُ ۚl-ʿumuruthe life
وَمَاwamāAnd not
كُنتَkuntayou were
ثَاوِيًۭاthāwiyana dweller
فِىٓfīamong
أَهْلِahli(the) people
مَدْيَنَmadyana(of) Madyan
تَتْلُوا۟tatlūreciting
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
ءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Verses
وَلَـٰكِنَّاwalākinnābut We
كُنَّاkunnā[We] were
مُرْسِلِينَmur'silīnathe Senders
٤٥(45)
But We produced [many] generations [after Moses], and prolonged was their duration. And you were not a resident among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our verses, but We were senders [of this message].

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كُنتَkuntayou were
بِجَانِبِbijānibiat (the) side
ٱلطُّورِl-ṭūri(of) the Tur
إِذْidhwhen
نَادَيْنَاnādaynāWe called
وَلَـٰكِنwalākinBut
رَّحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(as) a mercy
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
لِتُنذِرَlitundhiraso that you warn
قَوْمًۭاqawmana people
مَّآmānot
أَتَىٰهُمatāhum(had) come to them
مِّنminany
نَّذِيرٍۢnadhīrinwarner
مِّنminbefore you
قَبْلِكَqablikabefore you
لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnaremember
٤٦(46)
And you were not at the side of the mount when We called [Moses] but [were sent] as a mercy from your Lord to warn a people to whom no warner had come before you that they might be reminded.

وَلَوْلَآwalawlāAnd if not
أَنan[that]
تُصِيبَهُمtuṣībahumstruck them
مُّصِيبَةٌۢmuṣībatuna disaster
بِمَاbimāfor what
قَدَّمَتْqaddamathad sent forth
أَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands
فَيَقُولُوا۟fayaqūlūand they would say
رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
لَوْلَآlawlāWhy not
أَرْسَلْتَarsaltaYou sent
إِلَيْنَاilaynāto us
رَسُولًۭاrasūlana Messenger
فَنَتَّبِعَfanattabiʿaso we (could have) followed
ءَايَـٰتِكَāyātikaYour Verses
وَنَكُونَwanakūnaand we (would) have been
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
٤٧(47)
And if not that a disaster should strike them for what their hands put forth [of sins] and they would say, "Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses and been among the believers?"...

فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
جَآءَهُمُjāahumucame to them
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truth
مِنْminfrom Us
عِندِنَاʿindināfrom Us
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
لَوْلَآlawlāWhy not
أُوتِىَūtiyahe was given
مِثْلَmith'la(the) like
مَآmā(of) what
أُوتِىَūtiyawas given
مُوسَىٰٓ ۚmūsā(to) Musa
أَوَلَمْawalamDid not
يَكْفُرُوا۟yakfurūthey disbelieve
بِمَآbimāin what
أُوتِىَūtiyawas given
مُوسَىٰmūsā(to) Musa
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُ ۖqablubefore
قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
سِحْرَانِsiḥ'rāniTwo magic (works)
تَظَـٰهَرَاtaẓāharāsupporting each other
وَقَالُوٓا۟waqālūAnd they said
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
بِكُلٍّۢbikullinin all
كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
٤٨(48)
But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers."

قُلْqulSay
فَأْتُوا۟fatūThen bring
بِكِتَـٰبٍۢbikitābina Book
مِّنْminfrom Allah
عِندِʿindifrom Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahifrom Allah
هُوَhuwawhich
أَهْدَىٰahdā(is) a better guide
مِنْهُمَآmin'humāthan both of them
أَتَّبِعْهُattabiʿ'huthat I may follow it
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
٤٩(49)
Say, "Then bring a scripture from Allāh which is more guiding than either of them that I may follow it, if you should be truthful."

فَإِنfa-inBut if
لَّمْlamnot
يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟yastajībūthey respond
لَكَlakato you
فَٱعْلَمْfa-iʿ'lamthen know
أَنَّمَاannamāthat only
يَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnathey follow
أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚahwāahumtheir desires
وَمَنْwamanAnd who
أَضَلُّaḍallu(is) more astray
مِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) who
ٱتَّبَعَittabaʿafollows
هَوَىٰهُhawāhuhis own desire
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
هُدًۭىhudanguidance
مِّنَminafrom
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllah
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يَهْدِىyahdīguide
ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٥٠(50)
But if they do not respond to you - then know that they only follow their [own] desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allāh? Indeed, Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.
Juz 20Page 391
۞ وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd indeed
وَصَّلْنَاwaṣṣalnāWe have conveyed
لَهُمُlahumuto them
ٱلْقَوْلَl-qawlathe Word
لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnaremember
٥١(51)
And We have [repeatedly] conveyed to them the word [i.e., the Qur’ān] that they might be reminded.

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُātaynāhumuWe gave them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Scripture
مِنminbefore it
قَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore it
هُمhumthey
بِهِۦbihiin it
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
٥٢(52)
Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it - they are believers in it.
Juz 20Page 392
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
يُتْلَىٰyut'lāit is recited
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey say
ءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believe
بِهِۦٓbihiin it
إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, it
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truth
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّنَآrabbināour Lord
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
كُنَّاkunnā[we] were
مِنminbefore it
قَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore it
مُسْلِمِينَmus'limīnaMuslims
٥٣(53)
And when it is recited to them, they say, "We have believed in it; indeed, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed we were, [even] before it, Muslims [i.e., submitting to Allāh]."

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
يُؤْتَوْنَyu'tawnawill be given
أَجْرَهُمajrahumtheir reward
مَّرَّتَيْنِmarrataynitwice
بِمَاbimābecause
صَبَرُوا۟ṣabarūthey are patient
وَيَدْرَءُونَwayadraūnaand they repel
بِٱلْحَسَنَةِbil-ḥasanatiwith good
ٱلسَّيِّئَةَl-sayi-atathe evil
وَمِمَّاwamimmāand from what
رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْrazaqnāhumWe have provided them
يُنفِقُونَyunfiqūnathey spend
٥٤(54)
Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend.

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
سَمِعُوا۟samiʿūthey hear
ٱللَّغْوَl-laghwavain talk
أَعْرَضُوا۟aʿraḍūthey turn away
عَنْهُʿanhufrom it
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūand say
لَنَآlanāFor us
أَعْمَـٰلُنَاaʿmālunāour deeds
وَلَكُمْwalakumand for you
أَعْمَـٰلُكُمْaʿmālukumyour deeds
سَلَـٰمٌsalāmunPeace (be)
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon you
لَاlānot
نَبْتَغِىnabtaghīwe seek
ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَl-jāhilīnathe ignorant
٥٥(55)
And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant."

إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
لَاlā(can) not
تَهْدِىtahdīguide
مَنْmanwhom
أَحْبَبْتَaḥbabtayou love
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يَهْدِىyahdīguides
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe wills
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
أَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowing
بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَbil-muh'tadīna(of) the guided ones
٥٦(56)
Indeed, [O Muḥammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allāh guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

وَقَالُوٓا۟waqālūAnd they say
إِنinIf
نَّتَّبِعِnattabiʿiwe follow
ٱلْهُدَىٰl-hudāthe guidance
مَعَكَmaʿakawith you
نُتَخَطَّفْnutakhaṭṭafwe would be swept
مِنْminfrom
أَرْضِنَآ ۚarḍināour land
أَوَلَمْawalamHave not
نُمَكِّنnumakkinWe established
لَّهُمْlahumfor them
حَرَمًاḥaramana sanctuary
ءَامِنًۭاāminansecure
يُجْبَىٰٓyuj'bāare brought
إِلَيْهِilayhito it
ثَمَرَٰتُthamarātufruits
كُلِّkulli(of) all
شَىْءٍۢshayinthings
رِّزْقًۭاriz'qana provision
مِّنminfrom
لَّدُنَّاladunnāUs
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnaBut
أَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of them
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
٥٧(57)
And they [i.e., the Quraysh] say, "If we were to follow the guidance with you, we would be swept from our land." Have We not established for them a safe sanctuary to which are brought the fruits of all things as provision from Us? But most of them do not know.

وَكَمْwakamAnd how many
أَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe have destroyed
مِنminof
قَرْيَةٍۭqaryatina town
بَطِرَتْbaṭiratwhich exulted
مَعِيشَتَهَا ۖmaʿīshatahā(in) its means of livelihood
فَتِلْكَfatil'kaAnd these
مَسَـٰكِنُهُمْmasākinuhum(are) their dwellings
لَمْlamnot
تُسْكَنtus'kanhave been inhabited
مِّنۢminafter them
بَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter them
إِلَّاillāexcept
قَلِيلًۭا ۖqalīlana little
وَكُنَّاwakunnāAnd indeed, [We]
نَحْنُnaḥnuWe
ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَl-wārithīna(are) the inheritors
٥٨(58)
And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living, and those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors.

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَانَkānawas
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord
مُهْلِكَmuh'lika(the) one to destroy
ٱلْقُرَىٰl-qurāthe towns
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَبْعَثَyabʿathaHe (had) sent
فِىٓfīin
أُمِّهَاummihātheir mother (town)
رَسُولًۭاrasūlana Messenger
يَتْلُوا۟yatlūreciting
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
ءَايَـٰتِنَا ۚāyātināOur Verses
وَمَاwamāAnd not
كُنَّاkunnāWe would be
مُهْلِكِىmuh'likī(the) one to destroy
ٱلْقُرَىٰٓl-qurāthe towns
إِلَّاillāexcept
وَأَهْلُهَاwa-ahluhāwhile their people
ظَـٰلِمُونَẓālimūna(were) wrongdoers
٥٩(59)
And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities until He had sent to their mother [i.e., principal city] a messenger reciting to them Our verses. And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers.

وَمَآwamāAnd whatever
أُوتِيتُمūtītumyou have been given
مِّنminfrom
شَىْءٍۢshayinthings
فَمَتَـٰعُfamatāʿu(is) an enjoyment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of the) life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَزِينَتُهَا ۚwazīnatuhāand its adornment
وَمَاwamāAnd what
عِندَʿinda(is) with
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) better
وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ۚwa-abqāand more lasting
أَفَلَاafalāSo (will) not
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use intellect
٦٠(60)
And whatever thing you [people] have been given - it is [only for] the enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allāh is better and more lasting; so will you not use reason?

أَفَمَنafamanThen is (he) whom
وَعَدْنَـٰهُwaʿadnāhuWe have promised him
وَعْدًاwaʿdana promise
حَسَنًۭاḥasanangood
فَهُوَfahuwaand he
لَـٰقِيهِlāqīhi(will) meet it
كَمَنkamanlike (the one) whom
مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُmattaʿnāhuWe provided him
مَتَـٰعَmatāʿaenjoyment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of the) life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
ثُمَّthummathen
هُوَhuwahe
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
مِنَmina(will be) among
ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَl-muḥ'ḍarīnathose presented
٦١(61)
Then is he whom We have promised a good promise which he will meet [i.e., obtain] like he for whom We provided enjoyment of worldly life [but] then he is, on the Day of Resurrection, among those presented [for punishment in Hell]?

وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Day
يُنَادِيهِمْyunādīhimHe will call them
فَيَقُولُfayaqūluand say
أَيْنَaynaWhere
شُرَكَآءِىَshurakāiya(are) My partners
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhom
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)
تَزْعُمُونَtazʿumūnaclaim
٦٢(62)
And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My 'partners' which you used to claim?"

قَالَqāla(Will) say
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose
حَقَّḥaqqa(has) come true
عَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuagainst whom
ٱلْقَوْلُl-qawluthe Word
رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāiThese
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) those whom
أَغْوَيْنَآaghwaynāwe led astray
أَغْوَيْنَـٰهُمْaghwaynāhumWe led them astray
كَمَاkamāas
غَوَيْنَا ۖghawaynāwe were astray
تَبَرَّأْنَآtabarranāWe declare our innocence
إِلَيْكَ ۖilaykabefore You
مَاmāNot
كَانُوٓا۟kānūthey used (to)
إِيَّانَاiyyānāworship us
يَعْبُدُونَyaʿbudūnaworship us
٦٣(63)
Those upon whom the word will have come into effect will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we led to error. We led them to error just as we were in error. We declare our disassociation [from them] to You. They did not used to worship [i.e., obey] us."

وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it will be said
ٱدْعُوا۟id'ʿūCall
شُرَكَآءَكُمْshurakāakumyour partners
فَدَعَوْهُمْfadaʿawhumAnd they will call them
فَلَمْfalambut not
يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟yastajībūthey will respond
لَهُمْlahumto them
وَرَأَوُا۟wara-awūand they will see
ٱلْعَذَابَ ۚl-ʿadhābathe punishment
لَوْlawIf only
أَنَّهُمْannahum[that] they
كَانُوا۟kānūhad been
يَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnaguided
٦٤(64)
And it will be said, "Invoke your 'partners,'" and they will invoke them; but they will not respond to them, and they will see the punishment. If only they had followed guidance!

وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Day
يُنَادِيهِمْyunādīhimHe will call them
فَيَقُولُfayaqūluand say
مَاذَآmādhāWhat
أَجَبْتُمُajabtumudid you answer
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers
٦٥(65)
And [mention] the Day He will call them and say, "What did you answer the messengers?"

فَعَمِيَتْfaʿamiyatBut (will) be obscure
عَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuto them
ٱلْأَنۢبَآءُl-anbāuthe information
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat day
فَهُمْfahumso they
لَاlāwill not ask one another
يَتَسَآءَلُونَyatasāalūnawill not ask one another
٦٦(66)
But the information will be unapparent to them that Day, so they will not [be able to] ask one another.

فَأَمَّاfa-ammāBut as for
مَنman(him) who
تَابَtābarepented
وَءَامَنَwaāmanaand believed
وَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand did
صَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteousness
فَعَسَىٰٓfaʿasāthen perhaps
أَنan[that]
يَكُونَyakūnahe will be
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُفْلِحِينَl-muf'liḥīnathe successful ones
٦٧(67)
But as for one who had repented, believed, and done righteousness, it is expected [i.e., promised by Allāh] that he will be among the successful.

وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaAnd your Lord
يَخْلُقُyakhluqucreates
مَاmāwhat
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
وَيَخْتَارُ ۗwayakhtāruand chooses
مَاmāNot
كَانَkānathey have
لَهُمُlahumufor them
ٱلْخِيَرَةُ ۚl-khiyaratuthe choice
سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory be
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(to) Allah
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰwataʿālāand High is He
عَمَّاʿammāabove what
يُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
٦٨(68)
And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; not for them was the choice. Exalted is Allāh and high above what they associate with Him.

وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaAnd your Lord
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknows
مَاmāwhat
تُكِنُّtukinnuconceals
صُدُورُهُمْṣudūruhumtheir breasts
وَمَاwamāand what
يُعْلِنُونَyuʿ'linūnathey declare
٦٩(69)
And your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
لَآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillābut
هُوَ ۖhuwaHe
لَهُlahuTo Him
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamdu(are due) all praises
فِىfīin
ٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāthe first
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖwal-ākhiratiand the last
وَلَهُwalahuAnd for Him
ٱلْحُكْمُl-ḥuk'mu(is) the Decision
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
٧٠(70)
And He is Allāh; there is no deity except Him. To Him is [due all] praise in the first [life] and the Hereafter. And His is the [final] decision, and to Him you will be returned.

قُلْqulSay
أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumHave you seen
إِنinif
جَعَلَjaʿalaAllah made
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah made
عَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumufor you
ٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe night
سَرْمَدًاsarmadancontinuous
إِلَىٰilātill
يَوْمِyawmi(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
مَنْmanwho
إِلَـٰهٌilāhun(is the) god
غَيْرُghayrubesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
يَأْتِيكُمyatīkumwho could bring you
بِضِيَآءٍ ۖbiḍiyāinlight
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَسْمَعُونَtasmaʿūnayou hear
٧١(71)
Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should make for you the night continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allāh could bring you light? Then will you not hear?"

قُلْqulSay
أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumHave you seen
إِنinif
جَعَلَjaʿalaAllah made
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah made
عَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumufor you
ٱلنَّهَارَl-nahārathe day
سَرْمَدًاsarmadancontinuous
إِلَىٰilātill
يَوْمِyawmi(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
مَنْmanwho
إِلَـٰهٌilāhun(is the) god
غَيْرُghayrubesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
يَأْتِيكُمyatīkumwho could bring you
بِلَيْلٍۢbilaylinnight
تَسْكُنُونَtaskunūna(for) you (to) rest
فِيهِ ۖfīhiin it
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou see
٧٢(72)
Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should make for you the day continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allāh could bring you a night in which you may rest? Then will you not see?"

وَمِنwaminAnd from
رَّحْمَتِهِۦraḥmatihiHis Mercy
جَعَلَjaʿalaHe made
لَكُمُlakumufor you
ٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe night
وَٱلنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the day
لِتَسْكُنُوا۟litaskunūthat you may rest
فِيهِfīhitherein
وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟walitabtaghūand that you may seek
مِنminfrom
فَضْلِهِۦfaḍlihiHis Bounty
وَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaʿallakumand so that you may
تَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnabe grateful
٧٣(73)
And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and [by day] seek from His bounty and [that] perhaps you will be grateful.

وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Day
يُنَادِيهِمْyunādīhimHe will call them
فَيَقُولُfayaqūluand say
أَيْنَaynaWhere
شُرَكَآءِىَshurakāiya(are) My partners
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhom
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)
تَزْعُمُونَtazʿumūnaclaim
٧٤(74)
And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My 'partners' which you used to claim?"

وَنَزَعْنَاwanazaʿnāAnd We will draw forth
مِنminfrom
كُلِّkullievery
أُمَّةٍۢummatinnation
شَهِيدًۭاshahīdana witness
فَقُلْنَاfaqul'nāand We will say
هَاتُوا۟hātūBring
بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْbur'hānakumyour proof
فَعَلِمُوٓا۟faʿalimūThen they will know
أَنَّannathat
ٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truth
لِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allah
وَضَلَّwaḍallaand (will be) lost
عَنْهُمʿanhumfrom them
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
٧٥(75)
And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allāh, and lost from them is that which they used to invent.

۞ إِنَّinnaIndeed
قَـٰرُونَqārūnaQarun
كَانَkānawas
مِنminfrom
قَوْمِqawmi(the) people
مُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musa
فَبَغَىٰfabaghābut he oppressed
عَلَيْهِمْ ۖʿalayhim[on] them
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُwaātaynāhuAnd We gave him
مِنَminaof
ٱلْكُنُوزِl-kunūzithe treasures
مَآmāwhich
إِنَّinnaindeed
مَفَاتِحَهُۥmafātiḥahu(the) keys of it
لَتَنُوٓأُlatanūuwould burden
بِٱلْعُصْبَةِbil-ʿuṣ'batia company (of men)
أُو۟لِىulīpossessors of great strength
ٱلْقُوَّةِl-quwatipossessors of great strength
إِذْidhWhen
قَالَqālasaid
لَهُۥlahuto him
قَوْمُهُۥqawmuhuhis people
لَاlā(Do) not
تَفْرَحْ ۖtafraḥexult
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يُحِبُّyuḥibbulove
ٱلْفَرِحِينَl-fariḥīnathe exultant
٧٦(76)
Indeed, Qārūn was from the people of Moses, but he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men; thereupon his people said to him, "Do not exult. Indeed, Allāh does not like the exultant.

وَٱبْتَغِwa-ib'taghiBut seek
فِيمَآfīmāthrough what
ءَاتَىٰكَātākaAllah has given you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has given you
ٱلدَّارَl-dārathe home
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۖl-ākhirata(of) the Hereafter
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَنسَtansaforget
نَصِيبَكَnaṣībakayour share
مِنَminaof
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖl-dun'yāthe world
وَأَحْسِنwa-aḥsinAnd do good
كَمَآkamāas
أَحْسَنَaḥsanaAllah has been good
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has been good
إِلَيْكَ ۖilaykato you
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَبْغِtabghiseek
ٱلْفَسَادَl-fasādacorruption
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖl-arḍithe earth
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يُحِبُّyuḥibbulove
ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīnathe corrupters
٧٧(77)
But seek, through that which Allāh has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allāh has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allāh does not like corrupters."

قَالَqālaHe said
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
أُوتِيتُهُۥūtītuhuI have been given it
عَلَىٰʿalāon (account)
عِلْمٍʿil'min(of) knowledge
عِندِىٓ ۚʿindīI have
أَوَلَمْawalamDid not
يَعْلَمْyaʿlamhe know
أَنَّannathat
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
قَدْqadindeed
أَهْلَكَahlakadestroyed
مِنminbefore him
قَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore him
مِنَminaof
ٱلْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generations
مَنْmanwho
هُوَhuwa[they]
أَشَدُّashaddu(were) stronger
مِنْهُmin'huthan him
قُوَّةًۭquwwatan(in) strength
وَأَكْثَرُwa-aktharuand greater
جَمْعًۭا ۚjamʿan(in) accumulation
وَلَاwalāAnd not
يُسْـَٔلُyus'aluwill be questioned
عَنʿanabout
ذُنُوبِهِمُdhunūbihimutheir sins
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminals
٧٨(78)
He said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I have." Did he not know that Allāh had destroyed before him of generations those who were greater than him in power and greater in accumulation [of wealth]? But the criminals, about their sins, will not be asked.

فَخَرَجَfakharajaSo he went forth
عَلَىٰʿalāto
قَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis people
فِىfīin
زِينَتِهِۦ ۖzīnatihihis adornment
قَالَqālaSaid
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يُرِيدُونَyurīdūnadesire
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayatathe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
يَـٰلَيْتَyālaytaO! Would that
لَنَاlanāfor us
مِثْلَmith'la(the) like
مَآmā(of) what
أُوتِىَūtiyahas been given
قَـٰرُونُqārūnu(to) Qarun
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
لَذُوladhū(is the) owner
حَظٍّḥaẓẓin(of) fortune
عَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīmingreat
٧٩(79)
So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Oh, would that we had like what was given to Qārūn. Indeed, he is one of great fortune."

وَقَالَwaqālaBut said
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
أُوتُوا۟ūtūwere given
ٱلْعِلْمَl-ʿil'mathe knowledge
وَيْلَكُمْwaylakumWoe to you
ثَوَابُthawābu(The) reward
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) better
لِّمَنْlimanfor (he) who
ءَامَنَāmanabelieves
وَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand does
صَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)
وَلَاwalāAnd not
يُلَقَّىٰهَآyulaqqāhāit is granted
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَl-ṣābirūna(to) the patient ones
٨٠(80)
But those who had been given knowledge said, "Woe to you! The reward of Allāh is better for he who believes and does righteousness. And none are granted it except the patient."

فَخَسَفْنَاfakhasafnāThen We caused to swallow up
بِهِۦbihihim
وَبِدَارِهِwabidārihiand his home
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth
فَمَاfamāThen not
كَانَkānawas
لَهُۥlahufor him
مِنminany
فِئَةٍۢfi-atingroup
يَنصُرُونَهُۥyanṣurūnahu(to) help him
مِنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَمَاwamāand not
كَانَkānawas
مِنَmina(he) of
ٱلْمُنتَصِرِينَl-muntaṣirīnathose who (could) defend themselves
٨١(81)
And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home. And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allāh, nor was he of those who [could] defend themselves.

وَأَصْبَحَwa-aṣbaḥaAnd began
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
تَمَنَّوْا۟tamannaw(had) wished
مَكَانَهُۥmakānahuhis position
بِٱلْأَمْسِbil-amsithe day before
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūna(to) say
وَيْكَأَنَّwayka-annaAh! That
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يَبْسُطُyabsuṭuextends
ٱلرِّزْقَl-riz'qathe provision
لِمَنlimanfor whom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
مِنْminof
عِبَادِهِۦʿibādihiHis slaves
وَيَقْدِرُ ۖwayaqdiruand restricts it
لَوْلَآlawlāIf not
أَنanthat
مَّنَّmannaAllah had favored
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah had favored
عَلَيْنَاʿalaynā[to] us
لَخَسَفَlakhasafaHe would have caused it to swallow us
بِنَا ۖbināHe would have caused it to swallow us
وَيْكَأَنَّهُۥwayka-annahuAh! That
لَاlānot
يُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill succeed
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelievers
٨٢(82)
And those who had wished for his position the previous day began to say, "Oh, how Allāh extends provision to whom He wills of His servants and restricts it! If not that Allāh had conferred favor on us, He would have caused it to swallow us. Oh, how the disbelievers do not succeed!"

تِلْكَtil'kaThat
ٱلدَّارُl-dāruthe Home
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُl-ākhiratu(of) the Hereafter
نَجْعَلُهَاnajʿaluhāWe assign it
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
لَاlā(do) not
يُرِيدُونَyurīdūnadesire
عُلُوًّۭاʿuluwwanexaltedness
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَلَاwalāand not
فَسَادًۭا ۚfasādancorruption
وَٱلْعَـٰقِبَةُwal-ʿāqibatuAnd the good end
لِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna(is) for the righteous
٨٣(83)
That home of the Hereafter We assign to those who do not desire exaltedness upon the earth or corruption. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous.

مَنmanWhoever
جَآءَjāacomes
بِٱلْحَسَنَةِbil-ḥasanatiwith a good (deed)
فَلَهُۥfalahuthen for him
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(will be) better
مِّنْهَا ۖmin'hāthan it
وَمَنwamanand whoever
جَآءَjāacomes
بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِbil-sayi-atiwith an evil (deed)
فَلَاfalāthen not
يُجْزَىyuj'zāwill be recompensed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
عَمِلُوا۟ʿamilūdo
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِl-sayiātithe evil (deeds)
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
٨٤(84)
Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it; and whoever comes with an evil deed - then those who did evil deeds will not be recompensed except [as much as] what they used to do.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِىalladhīHe Who
فَرَضَfaraḍaordained
عَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon you
ٱلْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quran
لَرَآدُّكَlarādduka(will) surely take you back
إِلَىٰilāto
مَعَادٍۢ ۚmaʿādina place of return
قُلqulSay
رَّبِّىٓrabbīMy Lord
أَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowing
مَنman(of him) who
جَآءَjāacomes
بِٱلْهُدَىٰbil-hudāwith the guidance
وَمَنْwamanand who
هُوَhuwahe
فِىfī(is) in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinan error
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninmanifest
٨٥(85)
Indeed, [O Muḥammad], He who imposed upon you the Qur’ān will take you back to a place of return. Say, "My Lord is most knowing of who brings guidance and who is in clear error."

وَمَاwamāAnd not
كُنتَkuntayou were
تَرْجُوٓا۟tarjūexpecting
أَنanthat
يُلْقَىٰٓyul'qāwould be sent down
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبُl-kitābuthe Book
إِلَّاillāexcept
رَحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(as) a mercy
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّكَ ۖrabbikayour Lord
فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
تَكُونَنَّtakūnannabe
ظَهِيرًۭاẓahīranan assistant
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīnato the disbelievers
٨٦(86)
And you were not expecting that the Book would be conveyed to you, but [it is] a mercy from your Lord. So do not be an assistant to the disbelievers.

وَلَاwalāAnd (let) not
يَصُدُّنَّكَyaṣuddunnakaavert you
عَنْʿanfrom
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Verses
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
إِذْidh[when]
أُنزِلَتْunzilatthey have been revealed
إِلَيْكَ ۖilaykato you
وَٱدْعُwa-ud'ʿuAnd invite (people)
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّكَ ۖrabbikayour Lord
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَكُونَنَّtakūnannabe
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
٨٧(87)
And never let them avert you from the verses of Allāh after they have been revealed to you. And invite [people] to your Lord. And never be of those who associate others with Allāh.

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَدْعُtadʿuinvoke
مَعَmaʿawith
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
إِلَـٰهًاilāhangod
ءَاخَرَ ۘākharaother
لَآlā(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۚhuwaHim
كُلُّkulluEvery
شَىْءٍshayinthing
هَالِكٌhālikun(will be) destroyed
إِلَّاillāexcept
وَجْهَهُۥ ۚwajhahuHis Face
لَهُlahuTo Him
ٱلْحُكْمُl-ḥuk'mu(is) the Decision
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
٨٨(88)
And do not invoke with Allāh another deity. There is no deity except Him. Everything will be destroyed except His Face. His is the judgement, and to Him you will be returned.
