تَنزِيلُtanzīlu(The) revelation
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
مِنَmina(is) from
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmithe All-Wise
١(1)
The revelation of the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] is from Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Juz 23Page 458
إِنَّآinnāIndeed, We
أَنزَلْنَآanzalnā[We] have revealed
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truth
فَٱعْبُدِfa-uʿ'budiso worship
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مُخْلِصًۭاmukh'liṣan(being) sincere
لَّهُlahuto Him
ٱلدِّينَl-dīna(in) the religion
٢(2)
Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book, [O Muḥammad], in truth. So worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion.

أَلَاalāUnquestionably
لِلَّهِlillahifor Allah
ٱلدِّينُl-dīnu(is) the religion
ٱلْخَالِصُ ۚl-khāliṣuthe pure
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ittakhadhūtake
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦٓdūnihibesides Him
أَوْلِيَآءَawliyāaprotectors
مَاmāNot
نَعْبُدُهُمْnaʿbuduhumwe worship them
إِلَّاillāexcept
لِيُقَرِّبُونَآliyuqarribūnāthat they may bring us near
إِلَىilāto
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
زُلْفَىٰٓzul'fā(in) nearness
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يَحْكُمُyaḥkumuwill judge
بَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween them
فِىfīin
مَاmāwhat
هُمْhumthey
فِيهِfīhi[in it]
يَخْتَلِفُونَ ۗyakhtalifūnadiffer
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يَهْدِىyahdīguide
مَنْman(one) who
هُوَhuwa[he]
كَـٰذِبٌۭkādhibun(is) a liar
كَفَّارٌۭkaffārunand a disbeliever
٣(3)
Unquestionably, for Allāh is the pure religion. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allāh in position." Indeed, Allāh will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allāh does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.

لَّوْlawIf
أَرَادَarādaAllah (had) intended
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah (had) intended
أَنanto
يَتَّخِذَyattakhidhatake
وَلَدًۭاwaladana son
لَّٱصْطَفَىٰla-iṣ'ṭafāsurely, He (could) have chosen
مِمَّاmimmāfrom what
يَخْلُقُyakhluquHe creates
مَاmāwhatever
يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe willed
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۖsub'ḥānahuGlory be to Him
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
ٱلْوَٰحِدُl-wāḥiduthe One
ٱلْقَهَّارُl-qahāruthe Irresistible
٤(4)
If Allāh had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from what He creates whatever He willed. Exalted is He; He is Allāh, the One, the Prevailing.

خَلَقَkhalaqaHe created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖbil-ḥaqiin [the] truth
يُكَوِّرُyukawwiruHe wraps
ٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe night
عَلَىʿalāover
ٱلنَّهَارِl-nahārithe day
وَيُكَوِّرُwayukawwiruand wraps
ٱلنَّهَارَl-nahārathe day
عَلَىʿalāover
ٱلَّيْلِ ۖal-laylithe night
وَسَخَّرَwasakharaAnd He subjected
ٱلشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖwal-qamaraand the moon
كُلٌّۭkulluneach
يَجْرِىyajrīrunning
لِأَجَلٍۢli-ajalinfor a term
مُّسَمًّى ۗmusammanspecified
أَلَاalāUnquestionably
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُl-ghafāruthe Oft-Forgiving
٥(5)
He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.

خَلَقَكُمkhalaqakumHe created you
مِّنminfrom
نَّفْسٍۢnafsina soul
وَٰحِدَةٍۢwāḥidatinsingle
ثُمَّthummaThen
جَعَلَjaʿalaHe made
مِنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
زَوْجَهَاzawjahāits mate
وَأَنزَلَwa-anzalaAnd He sent down
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِl-anʿāmithe cattle
ثَمَـٰنِيَةَthamāniyataeight
أَزْوَٰجٍۢ ۚazwājinkinds
يَخْلُقُكُمْyakhluqukumHe creates you
فِىfīin
بُطُونِbuṭūni(the) wombs
أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْummahātikum(of) your mothers
خَلْقًۭاkhalqancreation
مِّنۢminafter
بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
خَلْقٍۢkhalqincreation
فِىfīin
ظُلُمَـٰتٍۢẓulumātindarkness[es]
ثَلَـٰثٍۢ ۚthalāthinthree
ذَٰلِكُمُdhālikumuThat
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lord
لَهُlahufor Him
ٱلْمُلْكُ ۖl-mul'ku(is) the dominion
لَآlā(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHe
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāThen how
تُصْرَفُونَtuṣ'rafūnaare you turning away
٦(6)
He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses. That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?

إِنinIf
تَكْفُرُوا۟takfurūyou disbelieve
فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
غَنِىٌّghaniyyun(is) free from need
عَنكُمْ ۖʿankumof you
وَلَاwalāAnd not
يَرْضَىٰyarḍāHe likes
لِعِبَادِهِliʿibādihiin His slaves
ٱلْكُفْرَ ۖl-kuf'raungratefulness
وَإِنwa-inAnd if
تَشْكُرُوا۟tashkurūyou are grateful
يَرْضَهُyarḍahuHe likes it
لَكُمْ ۗlakumin you
وَلَاwalāAnd not
تَزِرُtaziruwill bear
وَازِرَةٌۭwāziratunbearer of burdens
وِزْرَwiz'ra(the) burden
أُخْرَىٰ ۗukh'rā(of) another
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّكُمrabbikumyour Lord
مَّرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your return
فَيُنَبِّئُكُمfayunabbi-ukumthen He will inform you
بِمَاbimāabout what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَ ۚtaʿmalūnado
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) the All-Knower
بِذَاتِbidhātiof what (is) in the breasts
ٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūriof what (is) in the breasts
٧(7)
If you disbelieve - indeed, Allāh is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves [i.e., likes] it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

۞ وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
مَسَّmassatouches
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insāna[the] man
ضُرٌّۭḍurrunadversity
دَعَاdaʿāhe calls
رَبَّهُۥrabbahuhis Lord
مُنِيبًاmunībanturning
إِلَيْهِilayhito Him
ثُمَّthummathen
إِذَاidhāwhen
خَوَّلَهُۥkhawwalahuHe bestows on him
نِعْمَةًۭniʿ'matana favor
مِّنْهُmin'hufrom Himself
نَسِىَnasiyahe forgets
مَاmā(for) what
كَانَkānahe used to call
يَدْعُوٓا۟yadʿūhe used to call
إِلَيْهِilayhi[to] Him
مِنminbefore
قَبْلُqablubefore
وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand he sets up
لِلَّهِlillahito Allah
أَندَادًۭاandādanrivals
لِّيُضِلَّliyuḍillato mislead
عَنʿanfrom
سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚsabīlihiHis Path
قُلْqulSay
تَمَتَّعْtamattaʿEnjoy
بِكُفْرِكَbikuf'rikain your disbelief
قَلِيلًا ۖqalīlan(for) a little
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
مِنْmin(are) of
أَصْحَـٰبِaṣḥābi(the) companions
ٱلنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fire
٨(8)
And when adversity touches man, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him [alone]; then when He bestows on him a favor from Himself, he forgets Him whom he called upon before, and he attributes to Allāh equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little; indeed, you are of the companions of the Fire."

أَمَّنْammanIs (one) who
هُوَhuwa[he]
قَـٰنِتٌqānitun(is) devoutly obedient
ءَانَآءَānāa(during) hours
ٱلَّيْلِal-layli(of) the night
سَاجِدًۭاsājidanprostrating
وَقَآئِمًۭاwaqāimanand standing
يَحْذَرُyaḥdharufearing
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَl-ākhiratathe Hereafter
وَيَرْجُوا۟wayarjūand hoping
رَحْمَةَraḥmata(for the) Mercy
رَبِّهِۦ ۗrabbihi(of) his Lord
قُلْqulSay
هَلْhalAre
يَسْتَوِىyastawīequal
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ ۗyaʿlamūnaknow
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
يَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkaruwill take heed
أُو۟لُوا۟ulūthose of understanding
ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِl-albābithose of understanding
٩(9)
Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.

قُلْqulSay
يَـٰعِبَادِyāʿibādiO My slaves
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna[those] who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
ٱتَّقُوا۟ittaqūFear
رَبَّكُمْ ۚrabbakumyour Lord
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnaFor those who
أَحْسَنُوا۟aḥsanūdo good
فِىfīin
هَـٰذِهِhādhihithis
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāworld
حَسَنَةٌۭ ۗḥasanatun(is) good
وَأَرْضُwa-arḍuand the earth
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَٰسِعَةٌ ۗwāsiʿatun(is) spacious
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
يُوَفَّىyuwaffāwill be paid back in full
ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَl-ṣābirūnathe patient ones
أَجْرَهُمajrahumtheir reward
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
حِسَابٍۢḥisābinaccount
١٠(10)
Say, "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allāh is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account [i.e., limit]."

قُلْqulSay
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أُمِرْتُumir'tu[I] am commanded
أَنْanthat
أَعْبُدَaʿbudaI worship
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
مُخْلِصًۭاmukh'liṣan(being) sincere
لَّهُlahuto Him
ٱلدِّينَl-dīna(in) the religion
١١(11)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion.

وَأُمِرْتُwa-umir'tuAnd I am commanded
لِأَنْli-anthat
أَكُونَakūnaI be
أَوَّلَawwala(the) first
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīna(of) those who submit
١٢(12)
And I have been commanded to be the first [among you] of the Muslims."

قُلْqulSay
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
إِنْinif
عَصَيْتُʿaṣaytuI disobey
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
عَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishment
يَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīmingreat
١٣(13)
Say, "Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."

قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهَl-lahaI worship Allah
أَعْبُدُaʿbuduI worship Allah
مُخْلِصًۭاmukh'liṣan(being) sincere
لَّهُۥlahuto Him
دِينِىdīnī(in) my religion
١٤(14)
Say, "Allāh [alone] do I worship, sincere to Him in my religion,

فَٱعْبُدُوا۟fa-uʿ'budūSo worship
مَاmāwhat
شِئْتُمshi'tumyou will
مِّنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦ ۗdūnihibesides Him
قُلْqulSay
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) those who
خَسِرُوٓا۟khasirū(will) lose
أَنفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselves
وَأَهْلِيهِمْwa-ahlīhimand their families
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
أَلَاalāUnquestionably
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
هُوَhuwait
ٱلْخُسْرَانُl-khus'rānu(is) the loss
ٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnuthe clear
١٥(15)
So worship what you will besides Him." Say, "Indeed, the losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the manifest loss."

لَهُمlahumFor them
مِّنminfrom
فَوْقِهِمْfawqihimabove them
ظُلَلٌۭẓulaluncoverings
مِّنَminaof
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
وَمِنwaminand from
تَحْتِهِمْtaḥtihimbelow them
ظُلَلٌۭ ۚẓulaluncoverings
ذَٰلِكَdhālika(With) that
يُخَوِّفُyukhawwifuthreatens
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
بِهِۦbihi[with it]
عِبَادَهُۥ ۚʿibādahuHis slaves
يَـٰعِبَادِyāʿibādiO My slaves
فَٱتَّقُونِfa-ittaqūniSo fear Me
١٦(16)
They will have canopies [i.e., layers] of fire above them and below them, canopies. By that Allāh threatens [i.e., warns] His servants. O My servants, then fear Me.

وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
ٱجْتَنَبُوا۟ij'tanabūavoid
ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَl-ṭāghūtathe false gods
أَنanlest
يَعْبُدُوهَاyaʿbudūhāthey worship them
وَأَنَابُوٓا۟wa-anābūand turn
إِلَىilāto
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
لَهُمُlahumufor them
ٱلْبُشْرَىٰ ۚl-bush'rā(are) glad tidings
فَبَشِّرْfabashirSo give glad tidings
عِبَادِʿibādi(to) My slaves
١٧(17)
But those who have avoided ṭāghūt, lest they worship it, and turned back to Allāh - for them are good tidings. So give good tidings to My servants
Juz 23Page 460
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
يَسْتَمِعُونَyastamiʿūnathey listen (to)
ٱلْقَوْلَl-qawlathe Word
فَيَتَّبِعُونَfayattabiʿūnathen follow
أَحْسَنَهُۥٓ ۚaḥsanahuthe best thereof
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) they whom
هَدَىٰهُمُhadāhumuAllah has guided them
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuAllah has guided them
وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَwa-ulāikaand those
هُمْhumare [they]
أُو۟لُوا۟ulūthe men of understanding
ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِl-albābithe men of understanding
١٨(18)
Who listen to speech and follow the best of it. Those are the ones Allāh has guided, and those are people of understanding.

أَفَمَنْafamanThen, is (one) who
حَقَّḥaqqabecame due
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion him
كَلِمَةُkalimatuthe word
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi(of) the punishment
أَفَأَنتَafa-antaThen can you
تُنقِذُtunqidhusave
مَنman(one) who
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
١٩(19)
Then, is one who has deserved the decree of punishment [to be guided]? Then, can you save one who is in the Fire?

لَـٰكِنِlākiniBut
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ٱتَّقَوْا۟ittaqawfear
رَبَّهُمْrabbahumtheir Lord
لَهُمْlahumfor them
غُرَفٌۭghurafun(are) lofty mansions
مِّنminabove them
فَوْقِهَاfawqihāabove them
غُرَفٌۭghurafunlofty mansions
مَّبْنِيَّةٌۭmabniyyatunbuilt high
تَجْرِىtajrīflow
مِنminfrom
تَحْتِهَاtaḥtihābeneath it
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖl-anhāruthe rivers
وَعْدَwaʿda(The) Promise
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahi(of) Allah
لَاlāNot
يُخْلِفُyukh'lifuAllah fails
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah fails
ٱلْمِيعَادَl-mīʿāda(in His) promise
٢٠(20)
But those who have feared their Lord - for them are chambers, above them chambers built high, beneath which rivers flow. [This is] the promise of Allāh. Allāh does not fail in [His] promise.

أَلَمْalamDo not
تَرَtarayou see
أَنَّannathat
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
أَنزَلَanzalasends down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مَآءًۭmāanwater
فَسَلَكَهُۥfasalakahuand He makes it flow
يَنَـٰبِيعَyanābīʿa(as) springs
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
ثُمَّthummathen
يُخْرِجُyukh'rijuHe produces
بِهِۦbihiwith it
زَرْعًۭاzarʿancrops
مُّخْتَلِفًاmukh'talifan(of) different
أَلْوَٰنُهُۥalwānuhucolors
ثُمَّthummathen
يَهِيجُyahījuthey wither
فَتَرَىٰهُfatarāhuand you see it
مُصْفَرًّۭاmuṣ'farranturn yellow
ثُمَّthummathen
يَجْعَلُهُۥyajʿaluhuHe makes them
حُطَـٰمًا ۚḥuṭāmandebris
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَذِكْرَىٰladhik'rāsurely, (is) a reminder
لِأُو۟لِىli-ulīfor those of understanding
ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِl-albābifor those of understanding
٢١(21)
Do you not see that Allāh sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earth; then He produces thereby crops of varying colors; then they dry and you see them turned yellow; then He makes them [scattered] debris. Indeed in that is a reminder for those of understanding.

أَفَمَنafamanSo is (one for) whom
شَرَحَsharaḥaAllah has expanded
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has expanded
صَدْرَهُۥṣadrahuhis breast
لِلْإِسْلَـٰمِlil'is'lāmifor Islam
فَهُوَfahuwaso he
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) upon
نُورٍۢnūrina light
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّهِۦ ۚrabbihihis Lord
فَوَيْلٌۭfawaylunSo woe
لِّلْقَـٰسِيَةِlil'qāsiyatito (those are) hardened
قُلُوبُهُمqulūbuhumtheir hearts
مِّنminfrom
ذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembrance of Allah
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(the) remembrance of Allah
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
فِىfī(are) in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinerror
مُّبِينٍmubīninclear
٢٢(22)
So is one whose breast Allāh has expanded to [accept] Islām and he is upon [i.e., guided by] a light from his Lord [like one whose heart rejects it]? Then woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allāh. Those are in manifest error.

ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
نَزَّلَnazzalahas revealed
أَحْسَنَaḥsana(the) best
ٱلْحَدِيثِl-ḥadīthi(of) [the] statement
كِتَـٰبًۭاkitābana Book
مُّتَشَـٰبِهًۭاmutashābihan(its parts) resembling each other
مَّثَانِىَmathāniyaoft-repeated
تَقْشَعِرُّtaqshaʿirruShiver
مِنْهُmin'hufrom it
جُلُودُjulūdu(the) skins
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
يَخْشَوْنَyakhshawnafear
رَبَّهُمْrabbahumtheir Lord
ثُمَّthummathen
تَلِينُtalīnurelax
جُلُودُهُمْjulūduhumtheir skins
وَقُلُوبُهُمْwaqulūbuhumand their hearts
إِلَىٰilāat
ذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembrance
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
هُدَىhudā(is the) guidance
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
يَهْدِىyahdīHe guides
بِهِۦbihiwith it
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe wills
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يُضْلِلِyuḍ'liliAllah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah lets go astray
فَمَاfamāthen not
لَهُۥlahufor him
مِنْminany
هَادٍhādinguide
٢٣(23)
Allāh has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance [i.e., mention] of Allāh. That is the guidance of Allāh by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allāh sends astray - for him there is no guide.

أَفَمَنafamanThen (is) he who
يَتَّقِىyattaqīwill shield
بِوَجْهِهِۦbiwajhihiwith his face
سُوٓءَsūa(the) worst
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābipunishment
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it will be said
لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَlilẓẓālimīnato the wrongdoers
ذُوقُوا۟dhūqūTaste
مَاmāwhat
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَكْسِبُونَtaksibūnaearn
٢٤(24)
Then is he who will shield with his face the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection [like one secure from it]? And it will be said to the wrongdoers, "Taste what you used to earn."

كَذَّبَkadhabaDenied
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
مِنmin(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before them
فَأَتَىٰهُمُfa-atāhumuso came upon them
ٱلْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishment
مِنْminfrom
حَيْثُḥaythuwhere
لَاlānot
يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceive
٢٥(25)
Those before them denied, and punishment came upon them from where they did not perceive.

فَأَذَاقَهُمُfa-adhāqahumuSo Allah made them
ٱللَّهُl-lahuSo Allah made them
ٱلْخِزْىَl-khiz'yathe disgrace
فِىfīin
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَلَعَذَابُwalaʿadhābuand certainly (the) punishment
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafter
أَكْبَرُ ۚakbaru(is) greater
لَوْlawif
كَانُوا۟kānūthey
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknew
٢٦(26)
So Allāh made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd indeed
ضَرَبْنَاḍarabnāWe have set forth
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor people
فِىfīin
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
ٱلْقُرْءَانِl-qur'āniQuran
مِنminof
كُلِّkullievery
مَثَلٍۢmathalinexample
لَّعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnatake heed
٢٧(27)
And We have certainly presented for the people in this Qur’ān from every [kind of] example - that they might remember.

قُرْءَانًاqur'ānanA Quran
عَرَبِيًّاʿarabiyyan(in) Arabic
غَيْرَghayrawithout
ذِىdhīany
عِوَجٍۢʿiwajincrookedness
لَّعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَتَّقُونَyattaqūna(become) righteous
٢٨(28)
[It is] an Arabic Qur’ān, without any deviance that they might become righteous.

ضَرَبَḍarabaAllah sets forth
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah sets forth
مَثَلًۭاmathalanan example
رَّجُلًۭاrajulana man
فِيهِfīhiabout him
شُرَكَآءُshurakāupartners
مُتَشَـٰكِسُونَmutashākisūnaquarreling
وَرَجُلًۭاwarajulanand a man
سَلَمًۭاsalaman(belonging) exclusively
لِّرَجُلٍlirajulinto one man
هَلْhalare
يَسْتَوِيَانِyastawiyānithey both equal
مَثَلًا ۚmathalan(in) comparison
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praise
لِلَّهِ ۚlillahi(be) to Allah
بَلْbalNay
أَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhummost of them
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
٢٩(29)
Allāh presents an example: a man [i.e., slave] owned by quarreling partners and another belonging exclusively to one man - are they equal in comparison? Praise be to Allāh! But most of them do not know.

إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
مَيِّتٌۭmayyitunwill die
وَإِنَّهُمwa-innahumand indeed, they
مَّيِّتُونَmayyitūna(will also) die
٣٠(30)
Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die.

ثُمَّthummaThen
إِنَّكُمْinnakumindeed you
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
عِندَʿindabefore
رَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lord
تَخْتَصِمُونَtakhtaṣimūnawill dispute
٣١(31)
Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord, will dispute.

۞ فَمَنْfamanThen who
أَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنmimmanthan (one) who
كَذَبَkadhabalies
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَكَذَّبَwakadhabaand denies
بِٱلصِّدْقِbil-ṣid'qithe truth
إِذْidhwhen
جَآءَهُۥٓ ۚjāahuit comes to him
أَلَيْسَalaysaIs (there) not
فِىfīin
جَهَنَّمَjahannamaHell
مَثْوًۭىmathwanan abode
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelievers
٣٢(32)
So who is more unjust than one who lies about Allāh and denies the truth when it has come to him? Is there not in Hell a residence for the disbelievers?

وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīAnd the one who
جَآءَjāabrought
بِٱلصِّدْقِbil-ṣid'qithe truth
وَصَدَّقَwaṣaddaqaand believed
بِهِۦٓ ۙbihiin it
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
هُمُhumu[they]
ٱلْمُتَّقُونَl-mutaqūna(are) the righteous
٣٣(33)
And the one who has brought the truth [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous.

لَهُمlahumFor them
مَّاmā(is) what
يَشَآءُونَyashāūnathey wish
عِندَʿindawith
رَبِّهِمْ ۚrabbihimtheir Lord
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
جَزَآءُjazāu(is the) reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīna(of) the good-doers
٣٤(34)
They will have whatever they desire with their Lord. That is the reward of the doers of good -

لِيُكَفِّرَliyukaffiraThat Allah will remove
ٱللَّهُl-lahuThat Allah will remove
عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
أَسْوَأَaswa-a(the) worst
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(of) what
عَمِلُوا۟ʿamilūthey did
وَيَجْزِيَهُمْwayajziyahumand reward them
أَجْرَهُمajrahumtheir due
بِأَحْسَنِbi-aḥsanifor (the) best
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(of) what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
٣٥(35)
That Allāh may remove from them the worst of what they did and reward them their due for the best of what they used to do.

أَلَيْسَalaysaIs not
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
بِكَافٍbikāfinsufficient
عَبْدَهُۥ ۖʿabdahu(for) His slave
وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَwayukhawwifūnakaAnd they threaten you
بِٱلَّذِينَbi-alladhīnawith those
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦ ۚdūnihibesides Him
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يُضْلِلِyuḍ'liliAllah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah lets go astray
فَمَاfamāthen not
لَهُۥlahufor him
مِنْminany
هَادٍۢhādinguide
٣٦(36)
Is not Allāh sufficient for His Servant [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)]? And [yet], they threaten you with those [they worship] other than Him. And whoever Allāh leaves astray - for him there is no guide.

وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يَهْدِyahdiAllah guides
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah guides
فَمَاfamāthen not
لَهُۥlahufor him
مِنminany
مُّضِلٍّ ۗmuḍillinmisleader
أَلَيْسَalaysaIs not
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
بِعَزِيزٍۢbiʿazīzinAll-Mighty
ذِىdhīAll-Able of retribution
ٱنتِقَامٍۢintiqāminAll-Able of retribution
٣٧(37)
And whoever Allāh guides - for him there is no misleader. Is not Allāh Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution?

وَلَئِنwala-inAnd if
سَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahumyou ask them
مَّنْmanwho
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnaSurely, they will say
ٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllah
قُلْqulSay
أَفَرَءَيْتُمafara-aytumThen do you see
مَّاmāwhat
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou invoke
مِنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
إِنْinif
أَرَادَنِىَarādaniyaAllah intended for me
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah intended for me
بِضُرٍّbiḍurrinharm
هَلْhalare
هُنَّhunnathey
كَـٰشِفَـٰتُkāshifāturemovers
ضُرِّهِۦٓḍurrihi(of) harm (from) Him
أَوْawor
أَرَادَنِىarādanīif He intended for me
بِرَحْمَةٍbiraḥmatinmercy
هَلْhalare
هُنَّhunnathey
مُمْسِكَـٰتُmum'sikātuwithholders
رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚraḥmatihi(of) His mercy
قُلْqulSay
حَسْبِىَḥasbiyaSufficient (is) Allah for me
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuSufficient (is) Allah for me
عَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon Him
يَتَوَكَّلُyatawakkaluput trust
ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَl-mutawakilūnathose who trust
٣٨(38)
And if you asked them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "Allāh." Say, "Then have you considered what you invoke besides Allāh? If Allāh intended me harm, are they removers of His harm; or if He intended me mercy, are they withholders of His mercy?" Say, "Sufficient for me is Allāh; upon Him [alone] rely the [wise] reliers."

قُلْqulSay
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
ٱعْمَلُوا۟iʿ'malūWork
عَلَىٰʿalā(according) to
مَكَانَتِكُمْmakānatikumyour position
إِنِّىinnīindeed, I am
عَـٰمِلٌۭ ۖʿāmilunworking
فَسَوْفَfasawfathen soon
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
٣٩(39)
Say, "O my people, work according to your position, [for] indeed, I am working; and you are going to know

مَنman(Upon) whom
يَأْتِيهِyatīhiwill come
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābuna punishment
يُخْزِيهِyukh'zīhidisgracing him
وَيَحِلُّwayaḥilluand descends
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion him
عَذَابٌۭʿadhābuna punishment
مُّقِيمٌmuqīmuneverlasting
٤٠(40)
To whom will come a torment disgracing him and on whom will descend an enduring punishment."

إِنَّآinnāIndeed We
أَنزَلْنَاanzalnāWe revealed
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor [the] mankind
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖbil-ḥaqiin truth
فَمَنِfamaniSo whoever
ٱهْتَدَىٰih'tadāaccepts guidance
فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖfalinafsihithen (it is) for his soul
وَمَنwamanand whoever
ضَلَّḍallagoes astray
فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen only
يَضِلُّyaḍilluhe strays
عَلَيْهَا ۖʿalayhāagainst his (soul)
وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَنتَantayou
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhim(are) over them
بِوَكِيلٍbiwakīlina manager
٤١(41)
Indeed, We sent down to you the Book for the people in truth. So whoever is guided - it is for [the benefit of] his soul; and whoever goes astray only goes astray to its detriment. And you are not a manager [i.e., authority] over them.

ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
يَتَوَفَّىyatawaffātakes
ٱلْأَنفُسَl-anfusathe souls
حِينَḥīna(at the) time
مَوْتِهَاmawtihā(of) their death
وَٱلَّتِىwa-allatīand the one who
لَمْlam(does) not
تَمُتْtamutdie
فِىfīin
مَنَامِهَا ۖmanāmihātheir sleep
فَيُمْسِكُfayum'sikuThen He keeps
ٱلَّتِىallatīthe one whom
قَضَىٰqaḍāHe has decreed
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāfor them
ٱلْمَوْتَl-mawtathe death
وَيُرْسِلُwayur'siluand sends
ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓl-ukh'rāthe others
إِلَىٰٓilāfor
أَجَلٍۢajalina term
مُّسَمًّى ۚmusammanspecified
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely (are) signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnawho ponder
٤٢(42)
Allāh takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. Then He keeps those for which He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified term. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.

أَمِamiOr
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ittakhadhūhave they taken
مِنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
شُفَعَآءَ ۚshufaʿāaintercessors
قُلْqulSay
أَوَلَوْawalawEven though
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
لَاlānot
يَمْلِكُونَyamlikūnapossessing
شَيْـًۭٔاshayananything
وَلَاwalāand not
يَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnathey understand
٤٣(43)
Or have they taken other than Allāh as intercessors? Say, "Even though they do not possess [power over] anything, nor do they reason?"

قُلqulSay
لِّلَّهِlillahiTo Allah (belongs)
ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةُl-shafāʿatuthe intercession
جَمِيعًۭا ۖjamīʿanall
لَّهُۥlahuFor Him
مُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖwal-arḍiand the earth
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِلَيْهِilayhito Him
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
٤٤(44)
Say, "To Allāh belongs [the right to allow] intercession entirely. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned."

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
ذُكِرَdhukiraAllah is mentioned
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah is mentioned
وَحْدَهُwaḥdahuAlone
ٱشْمَأَزَّتْish'ma-azzatshrink with aversion
قُلُوبُqulūbu(the) hearts
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
وَإِذَاwa-idhāand when
ذُكِرَdhukiraare mentioned
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦٓdūnihibesides Him
إِذَاidhābehold
هُمْhumThey
يَسْتَبْشِرُونَyastabshirūnarejoice
٤٥(45)
And when Allāh is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but when those [worshipped] other than Him are mentioned, immediately they rejoice.

قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهُمَّl-lahumaO Allah
فَاطِرَfāṭiraCreator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
عَـٰلِمَʿālimaKnower
ٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِwal-shahādatiand the witnessed
أَنتَantaYou
تَحْكُمُtaḥkumuwill judge
بَيْنَbaynabetween
عِبَادِكَʿibādikaYour slaves
فِىfīin
مَاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
فِيهِfīhitherein
يَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnadiffer
٤٦(46)
Say, "O Allāh, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between your servants concerning that over which they used to differ."

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
أَنَّannaAnd if
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūdid wrong
مَاmā(had) whatever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall
وَمِثْلَهُۥwamith'lahuand (the) like of it
مَعَهُۥmaʿahuwith it
لَٱفْتَدَوْا۟la-if'tadawthey would ransom
بِهِۦbihiwith it
مِنminfrom
سُوٓءِsūi(the) evil
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi(of) the punishment
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
وَبَدَاwabadāAnd (will) appear
لَهُمlahumto them
مِّنَminafrom
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مَاmāwhat
لَمْlamnot
يَكُونُوا۟yakūnūthey had
يَحْتَسِبُونَyaḥtasibūnataken into account
٤٧(47)
And if those who did wrong had all that is in the earth entirely and the like of it with it, they would [attempt to] ransom themselves thereby from the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection. And there will appear to them from Allāh that which they had not taken into account.

وَبَدَاwabadāAnd will become apparent
لَهُمْlahumto them
سَيِّـَٔاتُsayyiātu(the) evils
مَاmā(of) what
كَسَبُوا۟kasabūthey earned
وَحَاقَwaḥāqaand will surround
بِهِمbihimthem
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
بِهِۦbihi[in it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock
٤٨(48)
And there will appear to them the evils they had earned, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

فَإِذَاfa-idhāSo when
مَسَّmassatouches
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insāna[the] man
ضُرٌّۭḍurrunadversity
دَعَانَاdaʿānāhe calls upon Us
ثُمَّthummathen
إِذَاidhāwhen
خَوَّلْنَـٰهُkhawwalnāhuWe bestow (on) him
نِعْمَةًۭniʿ'matana favor
مِّنَّاminnāfrom Us
قَالَqālahe says
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
أُوتِيتُهُۥūtītuhuI have been given it
عَلَىٰʿalāfor
عِلْمٍۭ ۚʿil'minknowledge
بَلْbalNay
هِىَhiyait
فِتْنَةٌۭfit'natun(is) a trial
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
أَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of them
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
٤٩(49)
And when adversity touches man, he calls upon Us; then when We bestow on him a favor from Us, he says, "I have only been given it because of [my] knowledge." Rather, it is a trial, but most of them do not know.

قَدْqadIndeed
قَالَهَاqālahāsaid it
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose
مِنminbefore them
قَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore them
فَمَآfamābut (did) not
أَغْنَىٰaghnāavail
عَنْهُمʿanhumthem
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
٥٠(50)
Those before them had already said it, but they were not availed by what they used to earn.

فَأَصَابَهُمْfa-aṣābahumThen struck them
سَيِّـَٔاتُsayyiātu(the) evils
مَاmā(of) what
كَسَبُوا۟ ۚkasabūthey earned
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūhave wronged
مِنْminof
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāithese
سَيُصِيبُهُمْsayuṣībuhumwill strike them
سَيِّـَٔاتُsayyiātu(the) evils
مَاmā(of) what
كَسَبُوا۟kasabūthey earned
وَمَاwamāand not
هُمhumthey
بِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīnawill be able to escape
٥١(51)
And the evil consequences of what they earned struck them. And those who have wronged of these [people] will be struck [i.e., afflicted] by the evil consequences of what they earned; and they will not cause failure.

أَوَلَمْawalamDo not
يَعْلَمُوٓا۟yaʿlamūthey know
أَنَّannathat
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يَبْسُطُyabsuṭuextends
ٱلرِّزْقَl-riz'qathe provision
لِمَنlimanfor whom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
وَيَقْدِرُ ۚwayaqdiruand restricts
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātinsurely (are) signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
٥٢(52)
Do they not know that Allāh extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.

۞ قُلْqulSay
يَـٰعِبَادِىَyāʿibādiyaO My slaves
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
أَسْرَفُوا۟asrafūhave transgressed
عَلَىٰٓʿalāagainst
أَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselves
لَاlā(do) not
تَقْنَطُوا۟taqnaṭūdespair
مِنminof
رَّحْمَةِraḥmati(the) Mercy
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يَغْفِرُyaghfiruforgives
ٱلذُّنُوبَl-dhunūbathe sins
جَمِيعًا ۚjamīʿanall
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed He
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْغَفُورُl-ghafūru(is) the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
٥٣(53)
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

وَأَنِيبُوٓا۟wa-anībūAnd turn
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lord
وَأَسْلِمُوا۟wa-aslimūand submit
لَهُۥlahuto Him
مِنminbefore
قَبْلِqablibefore
أَنan[that]
يَأْتِيَكُمُyatiyakumucomes to you
ٱلْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishment
ثُمَّthummathen
لَاlānot
تُنصَرُونَtunṣarūnayou will be helped
٥٤(54)
And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.
Juz 24Page 464
وَٱتَّبِعُوٓا۟wa-ittabiʿūAnd follow
أَحْسَنَaḥsana(the) best
مَآmā(of) what
أُنزِلَunzilais revealed
إِلَيْكُمilaykumto you
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّكُمrabbikumyour Lord
مِّنminbefore
قَبْلِqablibefore
أَنan[that]
يَأْتِيَكُمُyatiyakumucomes to you
ٱلْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishment
بَغْتَةًۭbaghtatansuddenly
وَأَنتُمْwa-antumwhile you
لَاlā(do) not
تَشْعُرُونَtashʿurūnaperceive
٥٥(55)
And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Qur’ān] before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive,

أَنanLest
تَقُولَtaqūlashould say
نَفْسٌۭnafsuna soul
يَـٰحَسْرَتَىٰyāḥasratāOh! My regret
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَاmāwhat
فَرَّطتُfarraṭtuI neglected
فِىfīin
جَنۢبِjanbiregard (to)
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَإِنwa-inand that
كُنتُkuntuI was
لَمِنَlaminasurely, among
ٱلسَّـٰخِرِينَl-sākhirīnathe mockers
٥٦(56)
Lest a soul should say, "Oh, [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to Allāh and that I was among the mockers."

أَوْawOr
تَقُولَtaqūlait should say
لَوْlawIf that
أَنَّannaIf that
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
هَدَىٰنِىhadānī(had) guided me
لَكُنتُlakuntusurely, I (would) have been
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe righteous
٥٧(57)
Or [lest] it say, "If only Allāh had guided me, I would have been among the righteous."

أَوْawOr
تَقُولَtaqūlait should say
حِينَḥīnawhen
تَرَىtarāit sees
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
لَوْlawIf
أَنَّannaonly
لِىlīfor me
كَرَّةًۭkarratananother chance
فَأَكُونَfa-akūnathen I could be
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
٥٨(58)
Or [lest] it say when it sees the punishment, "If only I had another turn so I could be among the doers of good."
Juz 24Page 465
بَلَىٰbalāYes
قَدْqadverily
جَآءَتْكَjāatkacame to you
ءَايَـٰتِىāyātīMy Verses
فَكَذَّبْتَfakadhabtabut you denied
بِهَاbihāthem
وَٱسْتَكْبَرْتَwa-is'takbartaand were arrogant
وَكُنتَwakuntaand you were
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
٥٩(59)
But yes, there had come to you My verses, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers.
Juz 24Page 465
وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
تَرَىtarāyou will see
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَذَبُوا۟kadhabūlied
عَلَىʿalāabout
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وُجُوهُهُمwujūhuhumtheir faces
مُّسْوَدَّةٌ ۚmus'waddatun(will be) blackened
أَلَيْسَalaysaIs (there) not
فِىfīin
جَهَنَّمَjahannamaHell
مَثْوًۭىmathwanan abode
لِّلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَlil'mutakabbirīnafor the arrogant
٦٠(60)
And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied about Allāh [with] their faces blackened. Is there not in Hell a residence for the arrogant?
Juz 24Page 465
وَيُنَجِّىwayunajjīAnd Allah will deliver
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah will deliver
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ٱتَّقَوْا۟ittaqawfeared (Him)
بِمَفَازَتِهِمْbimafāzatihimto their place of salvation
لَاlānot
يَمَسُّهُمُyamassuhumuwill touch them
ٱلسُّوٓءُl-sūuthe evil
وَلَاwalāand not
هُمْhumthey
يَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve
٦١(61)
And Allāh will save those who feared Him by their attainment; no evil will touch them, nor will they grieve.

ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
خَـٰلِقُkhāliqu(is the) Creator
كُلِّkulli(of) all
شَىْءٍۢ ۖshayinthings
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) over
كُلِّkulliall
شَىْءٍۢshayinthings
وَكِيلٌۭwakīluna Guardian
٦٢(62)
Allāh is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs.
Juz 24Page 465
لَّهُۥlahuFor Him
مَقَالِيدُmaqālīdu(are the) keys
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗwal-arḍiand the earth
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyātiin (the) Verses
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
هُمُhumuthey
ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَl-khāsirūna(are) the losers
٦٣(63)
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. And they who disbelieve in the verses of Allāh - it is those who are the losers.

قُلْqulSay
أَفَغَيْرَafaghayraIs (it) other than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
تَأْمُرُوٓنِّىٓtamurūnnīyou order me
أَعْبُدُaʿbudu(to) worship
أَيُّهَاayyuhāO
ٱلْجَـٰهِلُونَl-jāhilūnaignorant ones
٦٤(64)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Is it other than Allāh that you order me to worship, O ignorant ones?"
Juz 24Page 465
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verily
أُوحِىَūḥiyait has been revealed
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
وَإِلَىwa-ilāand to
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
مِنmin(were) before you
قَبْلِكَqablika(were) before you
لَئِنْla-inif
أَشْرَكْتَashraktayou associate (with Allah)
لَيَحْبَطَنَّlayaḥbaṭannasurely, will become worthless
عَمَلُكَʿamalukayour deeds
وَلَتَكُونَنَّwalatakūnannaand you will surely be
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
٦٥(65)
And it was already revealed to you and to those before you that if you should associate [anything] with Allāh, your work would surely become worthless, and you would surely be among the losers.
Juz 24Page 465
بَلِbaliNay
ٱللَّهَl-lahaBut worship Allah
فَٱعْبُدْfa-uʿ'budBut worship Allah
وَكُنwakunand be
مِّنَminaamong
ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَl-shākirīnathe thankful ones
٦٦(66)
Rather, worship [only] Allāh and be among the grateful.
Juz 24Page 465
وَمَاwamāAnd not
قَدَرُوا۟qadarūthey appraised
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
حَقَّḥaqqa(with) true
قَدْرِهِۦqadrihiappraisal
وَٱلْأَرْضُwal-arḍuwhile the earth
جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanentirely
قَبْضَتُهُۥqabḍatuhu(will be) in His Grip
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُwal-samāwātuand the heavens
مَطْوِيَّـٰتٌۢmaṭwiyyātun(will be) folded
بِيَمِينِهِۦ ۚbiyamīnihiin His Right Hand
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥsub'ḥānahuGlory be to Him
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰwataʿālāAnd High is He
عَمَّاʿammāabove what
يُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
٦٧(67)
They have not appraised Allāh with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.

وَنُفِخَwanufikhaAnd (will) be blown
فِىfī[in]
ٱلصُّورِl-ṣūrithe trumpet
فَصَعِقَfaṣaʿiqathen (will) fall dead
مَنmanwhoever
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَنwamanand whoever
فِىfī(is) on
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَنmanwhom
شَآءَshāaAllah wills
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuAllah wills
ثُمَّthummaThen
نُفِخَnufikha(it will) be blown
فِيهِfīhi[in it]
أُخْرَىٰukh'rāa second time
فَإِذَاfa-idhāand behold
هُمْhumThey
قِيَامٌۭqiyāmun(will be) standing
يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnawaiting
٦٨(68)
And the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead except whom Allāh wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on.
Juz 24Page 466
وَأَشْرَقَتِwa-ashraqatiAnd (will) shine
ٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earth
بِنُورِbinūriwith (the) light
رَبِّهَاrabbihā(of) its Lord
وَوُضِعَwawuḍiʿaand (will) be placed
ٱلْكِتَـٰبُl-kitābuthe Record
وَجِا۟ىٓءَwajīaand (will) be brought
بِٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَbil-nabiyīnathe Prophets
وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِwal-shuhadāiand the witnesses
وَقُضِىَwaquḍiyaand it (will) be judged
بَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween them
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truth
وَهُمْwahumand they
لَاlāwill not be wronged
يُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnawill not be wronged
٦٩(69)
And the earth will shine with the light of its Lord, and the record [of deeds] will be placed, and the prophets and the witnesses will be brought, and it will be judged between them in truth, and they will not be wronged.

وَوُفِّيَتْwawuffiyatAnd (will) be paid in full
كُلُّkulluevery
نَفْسٍۢnafsinsoul
مَّاmāwhat
عَمِلَتْʿamilatit did
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
أَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is the) Best-Knower
بِمَاbimāof what
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnathey do
٧٠(70)
And every soul will be fully compensated [for] what it did; and He is most knowing of what they do.

وَسِيقَwasīqaAnd (will) be driven
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieve
إِلَىٰilāto
جَهَنَّمَjahannamaHell
زُمَرًا ۖzumaran(in) groups
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
جَآءُوهَاjāūhāthey reach it
فُتِحَتْfutiḥat(will) be opened
أَبْوَٰبُهَاabwābuhāits gates
وَقَالَwaqālaand (will) say
لَهُمْlahumto them
خَزَنَتُهَآkhazanatuhāits keepers
أَلَمْalamDid not
يَأْتِكُمْyatikumcome to you
رُسُلٌۭrusulunMessengers
مِّنكُمْminkumfrom you
يَتْلُونَyatlūnareciting
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto you
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Verses
رَبِّكُمْrabbikum(of) your Lord
وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْwayundhirūnakumand warning you
لِقَآءَliqāa(of the) meeting
يَوْمِكُمْyawmikum(of) your Day
هَـٰذَا ۚhādhāthis
قَالُوا۟qālūThey (will) say
بَلَىٰbalāYes
وَلَـٰكِنْwalākinBut
حَقَّتْḥaqqathas been justified
كَلِمَةُkalimatu(the) word
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi(of) punishment
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
٧١(71)
And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, "Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes, but the word [i.e., decree] of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers."
Juz 24Page 466
قِيلَqīlaIt will be said
ٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ud'khulūEnter
أَبْوَٰبَabwāba(the) gates
جَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna(to) abide eternally
فِيهَا ۖfīhātherein
فَبِئْسَfabi'saand wretched is
مَثْوَىmathwā(the) abode
ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَl-mutakabirīna(of) the arrogant
٧٢(72)
[To them] it will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant."

وَسِيقَwasīqaAnd (will) be driven
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ٱتَّقَوْا۟ittaqawfeared
رَبَّهُمْrabbahumtheir Lord
إِلَىilāto
ٱلْجَنَّةِl-janatiParadise
زُمَرًا ۖzumaran(in) groups
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
جَآءُوهَاjāūhāthey reach it
وَفُتِحَتْwafutiḥatand (will) be opened
أَبْوَٰبُهَاabwābuhāits gates
وَقَالَwaqālaand (will) say
لَهُمْlahumto them
خَزَنَتُهَاkhazanatuhāits keepers
سَلَـٰمٌsalāmunPeace be
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
طِبْتُمْṭib'tumyou have done well
فَٱدْخُلُوهَاfa-ud'khulūhāso enter it
خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna(to) abide eternally
٧٣(73)
But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, "Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally therein," [they will enter].
Juz 24Page 466
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they will say
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praise
لِلَّهِlillahi(be) to Allah
ٱلَّذِىalladhīWho
صَدَقَنَاṣadaqanāhas fulfilled for us
وَعْدَهُۥwaʿdahuHis promise
وَأَوْرَثَنَاwa-awrathanāand has made us inherit
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth
نَتَبَوَّأُnatabawwa-uwe may settle
مِنَmina[from]
ٱلْجَنَّةِl-janati(in) Paradise
حَيْثُḥaythuwherever
نَشَآءُ ۖnashāuwe wish
فَنِعْمَfaniʿ'maSo excellent
أَجْرُajru(is the) reward
ٱلْعَـٰمِلِينَl-ʿāmilīna(of) the workers
٧٤(74)
And they will say, "Praise to Allāh, who has fulfilled for us His promise and made us inherit the earth [so] we may settle in Paradise wherever we will. And excellent is the reward of [righteous] workers."
Juz 24Page 466
وَتَرَىwatarāAnd you will see
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَl-malāikatathe Angels
حَآفِّينَḥāffīnasurrounding
مِنْmin[from]
حَوْلِḥawliaround
ٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throne
يُسَبِّحُونَyusabbiḥūnaglorifying
بِحَمْدِbiḥamdi(the) praise
رَبِّهِمْ ۖrabbihim(of) their Lord
وَقُضِىَwaquḍiyaAnd (will) be judged
بَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween them
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truth
وَقِيلَwaqīlaand it will be said
ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praise be
لِلَّهِlillahito Allah
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٧٥(75)
And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne, exalting [Allāh] with praise of their Lord. And it will be judged between them in truth, and it will be said, "[All] praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds."
