Ḥā, Meem.

وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
wal-kitābiBy the Book
ٱلْمُبِينِ
l-mubīnithe clear
٢
(2)
By the clear Book,
Juz 25Page 489
3
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, We
جَعَلْنَـٰهُ
jaʿalnāhu(have) made it
قُرْءَٰنًا
qur'ānana Quran
عَرَبِيًّۭا
ʿarabiyyan(in) Arabic
لَّعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakumso that you may
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūnaunderstand
٣
(3)
Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’ān that you might understand.

وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahuAnd indeed, it
فِىٓ
(is) in
أُمِّ
ummi(the) Mother
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi(of) the Book
لَدَيْنَا
ladaynāwith Us
لَعَلِىٌّ
laʿaliyyunsurely exalted
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmunfull of wisdom
٤
(4)
And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.

أَفَنَضْرِبُ
afanaḍribuThen should We take away
عَنكُمُ
ʿankumufrom you
ٱلذِّكْرَ
l-dhik'rathe Reminder
صَفْحًا
ṣafḥandisregarding (you)
أَن
anbecause
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou are
قَوْمًۭا
qawmana people
مُّسْرِفِينَ
mus'rifīnatransgressing
٥
(5)
Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?

وَكَمْ
wakamAnd how many
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnāWe sent
مِن
minof
نَّبِىٍّۢ
nabiyyina Prophet
فِى
among
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīnathe former (people)
٦
(6)
And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
يَأْتِيهِم
yatīhimcame to them
مِّن
minany Prophet
نَّبِىٍّ
nabiyyinany Prophet
إِلَّا
illābut
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
بِهِۦ
bihimock at him
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
yastahziūnamock at him
٧
(7)
But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.

فَأَهْلَكْنَآ
fa-ahlaknāThen We destroyed
أَشَدَّ
ashaddastronger
مِنْهُم
min'humthan them
بَطْشًۭا
baṭshan(in) power
وَمَضَىٰ
wamaḍāand has passed
مَثَلُ
mathalu(the) example
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna(of) the former (people)
٨
(8)
And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.

وَلَئِن
wala-inAnd if
سَأَلْتَهُم
sa-altahumyou ask them
مَّنْ
manWho
خَلَقَ
khalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
لَيَقُولُنَّ
layaqūlunnaThey will surely say
خَلَقَهُنَّ
khalaqahunnaCreated them
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
l-ʿazīzuthe All-Mighty
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
٩
(9)
And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing,"

ٱلَّذِى
alladhīThe One Who
جَعَلَ
jaʿalamade
لَكُمُ
lakumufor you
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍathe earth
مَهْدًۭا
mahdana bed
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿalaand made
لَكُمْ
lakumfor you
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
سُبُلًۭا
subulanroads
لَّعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakumso that you may
تَهْتَدُونَ
tahtadūna(be) guided
١٠
(10)
[The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided

وَٱلَّذِى
wa-alladhīAnd the One Who
نَزَّلَ
nazzalasends down
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāithe sky
مَآءًۢ
māanwater
بِقَدَرٍۢ
biqadarinin (due) measure
فَأَنشَرْنَا
fa-ansharnāthen We revive
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
بَلْدَةًۭ
baldatana land
مَّيْتًۭا ۚ
maytandead
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālikathus
تُخْرَجُونَ
tukh'rajūnayou will be brought forth
١١
(11)
And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth -

وَٱلَّذِى
wa-alladhīAnd the One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaqacreated
ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ
l-azwājathe pairs
كُلَّهَا
kullahāall of them
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿalaand made
لَكُم
lakumfor you
مِّنَ
mina[of]
ٱلْفُلْكِ
l-ful'kithe ships
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ
wal-anʿāmiand the cattle
مَا
what
تَرْكَبُونَ
tarkabūnayou ride
١٢
(12)
And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount

لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟
litastawūThat you may sit firmly
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
ظُهُورِهِۦ
ẓuhūrihitheir backs
ثُمَّ
thummathen
تَذْكُرُوا۟
tadhkurūremember
نِعْمَةَ
niʿ'mata(the) favor
رَبِّكُمْ
rabbikum(of) your Lord
إِذَا
idhāwhen
ٱسْتَوَيْتُمْ
is'tawaytumyou sit firmly
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhion them
وَتَقُولُوا۟
wataqūlūand say
سُبْحَـٰنَ
sub'ḥānaGlory be (to)
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthe One Who
سَخَّرَ
sakhara(has) subjected
لَنَا
lanāto us
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
وَمَا
wamāand not
كُنَّا
kunnāwe were
لَهُۥ
lahuof it
مُقْرِنِينَ
muq'rinīnacapable
١٣
(13)
That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.

وَإِنَّآ
wa-innāAnd indeed, we
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
رَبِّنَا
rabbināour Lord
لَمُنقَلِبُونَ
lamunqalibūnawill surely return
١٤
(14)
And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return."

15
وَجَعَلُوا۟
wajaʿalūBut they attribute
لَهُۥ
lahuto Him
مِنْ
minfrom
عِبَادِهِۦ
ʿibādihiHis slaves
جُزْءًا ۚ
juz'ana portion
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ
l-insānaman
لَكَفُورٌۭ
lakafūrunsurely (is) clearly ungrateful
مُّبِينٌ
mubīnunsurely (is) clearly ungrateful
١٥
(15)
But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful.

أَمِ
amiOr
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadhahas He taken
مِمَّا
mimmāof what
يَخْلُقُ
yakhluquHe has created
بَنَاتٍۢ
banātindaughters
وَأَصْفَىٰكُم
wa-aṣfākumand He has chosen (for) you
بِٱلْبَنِينَ
bil-banīnasons
١٦
(16)
Or has He taken, out of what He has created, daughters and chosen you for [having] sons?

وَإِذَا
wa-idhāAnd when
بُشِّرَ
bushirais given good news
أَحَدُهُم
aḥaduhum(to) one of them
بِمَا
bimāof what
ضَرَبَ
ḍarabahe sets up
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmānifor the Most Gracious
مَثَلًۭا
mathalan(as) a likeness
ظَلَّ
ẓallabecomes
وَجْهُهُۥ
wajhuhuhis face
مُسْوَدًّۭا
mus'waddandark
وَهُوَ
wahuwaand he
كَظِيمٌ
kaẓīmun(is) filled with grief
١٧
(17)
And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison [i.e., a daughter], his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.

أَوَمَن
awamanThen (is one) who
يُنَشَّؤُا۟
yunasha-uis brought up
فِى
in
ٱلْحِلْيَةِ
l-ḥil'yatiornaments
وَهُوَ
wahuwaand he
فِى
in
ٱلْخِصَامِ
l-khiṣāmithe dispute
غَيْرُ
ghayru(is) not
مُبِينٍۢ
mubīninclear
١٨
(18)
So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allāh]?

وَجَعَلُوا۟
wajaʿalūAnd they made
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ
l-malāikatathe Angels
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
هُمْ
humthemselves
عِبَـٰدُ
ʿibādu(are) slaves
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni(of) the Most Gracious
إِنَـٰثًا ۚ
ināthanfemales
أَشَهِدُوا۟
ashahidūDid they witness
خَلْقَهُمْ ۚ
khalqahumtheir creation
سَتُكْتَبُ
satuk'tabuWill be recorded
شَهَـٰدَتُهُمْ
shahādatuhumtheir testimony
وَيُسْـَٔلُونَ
wayus'alūnaand they will be questioned
١٩
(19)
And they described the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, as females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they say
لَوْ
lawIf
شَآءَ
shāahad willed
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
مَا
we would not have worshipped them
عَبَدْنَـٰهُم ۗ
ʿabadnāhumwe would not have worshipped them
مَّا
Not
لَهُم
lahumthey have
بِذَٰلِكَ
bidhālikaabout that
مِنْ
minany
عِلْمٍ ۖ
ʿil'minknowledge
إِنْ
inNothing
هُمْ
humthey (do)
إِلَّا
illābut
يَخْرُصُونَ
yakhruṣūnalie
٢٠
(20)
And they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They have of that no knowledge. They are not but misjudging.

أَمْ
amOr
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ
ātaynāhumhave We given them
كِتَـٰبًۭا
kitābana book
مِّن
minbefore it
قَبْلِهِۦ
qablihibefore it
فَهُم
fahumso they
بِهِۦ
bihito it
مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ
mus'tamsikūna(are) holding fast
٢١
(21)
Or have We given them a book before it [i.e., the Qur’ān] to which they are adhering?

بَلْ
balNay
قَالُوٓا۟
qālūthey say
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, we
وَجَدْنَآ
wajadnā[we] found
ءَابَآءَنَا
ābāanāour forefathers
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāupon
أُمَّةٍۢ
ummatina religion
وَإِنَّا
wa-innāand indeed, we
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāon
ءَاثَـٰرِهِم
āthārihimtheir footsteps
مُّهْتَدُونَ
muh'tadūna(are) guided
٢٢
(22)
Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
مَآ
not
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnāWe sent
مِن
minbefore you
قَبْلِكَ
qablikabefore you
فِى
in
قَرْيَةٍۢ
qaryatina town
مِّن
minany
نَّذِيرٍ
nadhīrinwarner
إِلَّا
illāexcept
قَالَ
qālasaid
مُتْرَفُوهَآ
mut'rafūhā(the) wealthy ones of it
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, we
وَجَدْنَآ
wajadnā[we] found
ءَابَآءَنَا
ābāanāour forefathers
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāon
أُمَّةٍۢ
ummatina religion
وَإِنَّا
wa-innāand indeed, we
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā[on]
ءَاثَـٰرِهِم
āthārihimtheir footsteps
مُّقْتَدُونَ
muq'tadūna(are) following
٢٣
(23)
And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."

۞ قَـٰلَ
qālaHe said
أَوَلَوْ
awalawEven if
جِئْتُكُم
ji'tukumI brought you
بِأَهْدَىٰ
bi-ahdābetter guidance
مِمَّا
mimmāthan what
وَجَدتُّمْ
wajadttumyou found
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhion it
ءَابَآءَكُمْ ۖ
ābāakumyour forefathers
قَالُوٓا۟
qālūThey said
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, we
بِمَآ
bimāwith what
أُرْسِلْتُم
ur'sil'tumyou are sent
بِهِۦ
bihiwith [it]
كَـٰفِرُونَ
kāfirūna(are) disbelievers
٢٤
(24)
[Each warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."

25
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا
fa-intaqamnāSo We took retribution
مِنْهُمْ ۖ
min'humfrom them
فَٱنظُرْ
fa-unẓurThen see
كَيْفَ
kayfahow
كَانَ
kānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُ
ʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
l-mukadhibīna(of) the deniers
٢٥
(25)
So We took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers.

وَإِذْ
wa-idhAnd when
قَالَ
qālaIbrahim Said
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
ib'rāhīmuIbrahim Said
لِأَبِيهِ
li-abīhito his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ
waqawmihiand his people
إِنَّنِى
innanīIndeed, I (am)
بَرَآءٌۭ
barāondisassociated
مِّمَّا
mimmāfrom what
تَعْبُدُونَ
taʿbudūnayou worship
٢٦
(26)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship

إِلَّا
illāExcept
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthe One Who
فَطَرَنِى
faṭaranīcreated me
فَإِنَّهُۥ
fa-innahuand indeed, He
سَيَهْدِينِ
sayahdīniwill guide me
٢٧
(27)
Except for He who created me; and indeed, He will guide me."

وَجَعَلَهَا
wajaʿalahāAnd he made it
كَلِمَةًۢ
kalimatana word
بَاقِيَةًۭ
bāqiyatanlasting
فِى
among
عَقِبِهِۦ
ʿaqibihihis descendents
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūnareturn
٢٨
(28)
And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it].

بَلْ
balNay
مَتَّعْتُ
mattaʿtuI gave enjoyment
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi(to) these
وَءَابَآءَهُمْ
waābāahumand their forefathers
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattāuntil
جَآءَهُمُ
jāahumucame to them
ٱلْحَقُّ
l-ḥaquthe truth
وَرَسُولٌۭ
warasūlunand a Messenger
مُّبِينٌۭ
mubīnunclear
٢٩
(29)
However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth and a clear Messenger.

وَلَمَّا
walammāAnd when
جَآءَهُمُ
jāahumucame to them
ٱلْحَقُّ
l-ḥaquthe truth
قَالُوا۟
qālūthey said
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
سِحْرٌۭ
siḥ'run(is) magic
وَإِنَّا
wa-innāand indeed, we
بِهِۦ
bihiof it
كَـٰفِرُونَ
kāfirūna(are) disbelievers
٣٠
(30)
But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers."

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they say
لَوْلَا
lawlāWhy not
نُزِّلَ
nuzzilawas sent down
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
ٱلْقُرْءَانُ
l-qur'ānuthe Quran
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāto
رَجُلٍۢ
rajulina man
مِّنَ
minafrom
ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ
l-qaryataynithe two towns
عَظِيمٍ
ʿaẓīmingreat
٣١
(31)
And they said, "Why was this Qur’ān not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"

أَهُمْ
ahumDo they
يَقْسِمُونَ
yaqsimūnadistribute
رَحْمَتَ
raḥmata(the) Mercy
رَبِّكَ ۚ
rabbika(of) your Lord
نَحْنُ
naḥnuWe
قَسَمْنَا
qasamnā[We] distribute
بَيْنَهُم
baynahumamong them
مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ
maʿīshatahumtheir livelihood
فِى
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
l-ḥayatithe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ
l-dun'yā(of) the world
وَرَفَعْنَا
warafaʿnāand We raise
بَعْضَهُمْ
baʿḍahumsome of them
فَوْقَ
fawqaabove
بَعْضٍۢ
baʿḍinothers
دَرَجَـٰتٍۢ
darajātin(in) degrees
لِّيَتَّخِذَ
liyattakhidhaso that may take
بَعْضُهُم
baʿḍuhumsome of them
بَعْضًۭا
baʿḍanothers
سُخْرِيًّۭا ۗ
sukh'riyyan(for) service
وَرَحْمَتُ
waraḥmatuBut (the) Mercy
رَبِّكَ
rabbika(of) your Lord
خَيْرٌۭ
khayrun(is) better
مِّمَّا
mimmāthan what
يَجْمَعُونَ
yajmaʿūnathey accumulate
٣٢
(32)
Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.

وَلَوْلَآ
walawlāAnd if not
أَن
anthat
يَكُونَ
yakūna(would) become
ٱلنَّاسُ
l-nāsu[the] mankind
أُمَّةًۭ
ummatana community
وَٰحِدَةًۭ
wāḥidatanone
لَّجَعَلْنَا
lajaʿalnāWe (would have) made
لِمَن
limanfor (one) who
يَكْفُرُ
yakfurudisbelieves
بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
bil-raḥmāniin the Most Gracious
لِبُيُوتِهِمْ
libuyūtihimfor their houses
سُقُفًۭا
suqufanroofs
مِّن
minof
فِضَّةٍۢ
fiḍḍatinsilver
وَمَعَارِجَ
wamaʿārijaand stairways
عَلَيْهَا
ʿalayhāupon which
يَظْهَرُونَ
yaẓharūnathey mount
٣٣
(33)
And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount.

وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ
walibuyūtihimAnd for their houses
أَبْوَٰبًۭا
abwābandoors
وَسُرُرًا
wasururanand couches
عَلَيْهَا
ʿalayhāupon which
يَتَّكِـُٔونَ
yattakiūnathey recline
٣٤
(34)
And for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline

وَزُخْرُفًۭا ۚ
wazukh'rufanAnd ornaments of gold
وَإِن
wa-inAnd not (is)
كُلُّ
kulluall
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikathat
لَمَّا
lammābut
مَتَـٰعُ
matāʿuan enjoyment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
l-ḥayati(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ
l-dun'yā(of) the world
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ
wal-ākhiratuAnd the Hereafter
عِندَ
ʿindawith
رَبِّكَ
rabbikayour Lord
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
lil'muttaqīna(is) for the righteous
٣٥
(35)
And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.

وَمَن
wamanAnd whoever
يَعْشُ
yaʿshuturns away
عَن
ʿanfrom
ذِكْرِ
dhik'ri(the) remembrance
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni(of) the Most Gracious
نُقَيِّضْ
nuqayyiḍWe appoint
لَهُۥ
lahufor him
شَيْطَـٰنًۭا
shayṭānana devil
فَهُوَ
fahuwathen he
لَهُۥ
lahu(is) to him
قَرِينٌۭ
qarīnuna companion
٣٦
(36)
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.

وَإِنَّهُمْ
wa-innahumAnd indeed, they
لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ
layaṣuddūnahumsurely, turn them
عَنِ
ʿanifrom
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
l-sabīlithe Path
وَيَحْسَبُونَ
wayaḥsabūnaand they think
أَنَّهُم
annahumthat they
مُّهْتَدُونَ
muh'tadūna(are) guided
٣٧
(37)
And indeed, they [i.e., the devils] avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided

حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāUntil
إِذَا
idhāwhen
جَآءَنَا
jāanāhe comes to Us
قَالَ
qālahe says
يَـٰلَيْتَ
yālaytaO would that
بَيْنِى
baynībetween me
وَبَيْنَكَ
wabaynakaand between you
بُعْدَ
buʿ'da(were the) distance
ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ
l-mashriqayni(of) the East and the West
فَبِئْسَ
fabi'saHow wretched is
ٱلْقَرِينُ
l-qarīnuthe companion
٣٨
(38)
Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "How I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west; and what a wretched companion."

وَلَن
walanAnd never
يَنفَعَكُمُ
yanfaʿakumuwill benefit you
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawmathe Day
إِذ
idhwhen
ظَّلَمْتُمْ
ẓalamtumyou have wronged
أَنَّكُمْ
annakumthat you
فِى
(will be) in
ٱلْعَذَابِ
l-ʿadhābithe punishment
مُشْتَرِكُونَ
mush'tarikūnasharing

And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment.

afa-antaThen can you
تُسْمِعُ
tus'miʿucause to hear
ٱلصُّمَّ
l-ṣumathe deaf
أَوْ
awor
تَهْدِى
tahdīguide
ٱلْعُمْىَ
l-ʿum'yathe blind
وَمَن
wamanand (one) who
كَانَ
kānais
فِى
in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ
ḍalālinan error
مُّبِينٍۢ
mubīninclear
٤٠
(40)
Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muḥammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?

فَإِمَّا
fa-immāAnd whether
نَذْهَبَنَّ
nadhhabannaWe take you away
بِكَ
bikaWe take you away
فَإِنَّا
fa-innāthen indeed, We
مِنْهُم
min'humfrom them
مُّنتَقِمُونَ
muntaqimūna(will) take retribution
٤١
(41)
And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them.

awOr
نُرِيَنَّكَ
nuriyannakaWe show you
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthat which
وَعَدْنَـٰهُمْ
waʿadnāhumWe have promised them
فَإِنَّا
fa-innāthen indeed, We
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhimover them
مُّقْتَدِرُونَ
muq'tadirūnahave full power
٤٢
(42)
Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability.

فَٱسْتَمْسِكْ
fa-is'tamsikSo hold fast
بِٱلَّذِىٓ
bi-alladhīto that which
أُوحِىَ
ūḥiyais revealed
إِلَيْكَ ۖ
ilaykato you
إِنَّكَ
innakaIndeed, you
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā(are) on
صِرَٰطٍۢ
ṣirāṭina Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
mus'taqīminStraight
٤٣
(43)
So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.

وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahuAnd indeed, it
لَذِكْرٌۭ
ladhik'run(is) surely, a Reminder
لَّكَ
lakafor you
وَلِقَوْمِكَ ۖ
waliqawmikaand your people
وَسَوْفَ
wasawfaand soon
تُسْـَٔلُونَ
tus'alūnayou will be questioned
٤٤
(44)
And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned.

وَسْـَٔلْ
wasalAnd ask
مَنْ
man(those) whom
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnāWe sent
مِن
minbefore you
قَبْلِكَ
qablikabefore you
مِن
minof
رُّسُلِنَآ
rusulināOur Messengers
أَجَعَلْنَا
ajaʿalnādid We make
مِن
minbesides
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
ءَالِهَةًۭ
ālihatangods
يُعْبَدُونَ
yuʿ'badūnato be worshipped
٤٥
(45)
And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped?

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd certainly
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnāWe sent
مُوسَىٰ
mūsāMusa
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ
biāyātināwith Our Signs
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
فِرْعَوْنَ
fir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ
wamala-ihiand his chiefs
فَقَالَ
faqālaand he said
إِنِّى
innīIndeed, I am
رَسُولُ
rasūlua Messenger
رَبِّ
rabbi(of the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٤٦
(46)
And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."

فَلَمَّا
falammāBut when
جَآءَهُم
jāahumhe came to them
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ
biāyātināwith Our Signs
إِذَا
idhābehold
هُم
humThey
مِّنْهَا
min'hāat them
يَضْحَكُونَ
yaḍḥakūnalaughed
٤٧
(47)
But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
نُرِيهِم
nurīhimWe showed them
مِّنْ
minof
ءَايَةٍ
āyatina Sign
إِلَّا
illābut
هِىَ
hiyait
أَكْبَرُ
akbaru(was) greater
مِنْ
minthan
أُخْتِهَا ۖ
ukh'tihāits sister
وَأَخَذْنَـٰهُم
wa-akhadhnāhumand We seized them
بِٱلْعَذَابِ
bil-ʿadhābiwith the punishment
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūnareturn
٤٨
(48)
And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they said
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَ
yāayyuhaO
ٱلسَّاحِرُ
l-sāḥiru[the] magician
ٱدْعُ
ud'ʿuInvoke
لَنَا
lanāfor us
رَبَّكَ
rabbakayour Lord
بِمَا
bimāby what
عَهِدَ
ʿahidaHe has made covenant
عِندَكَ
ʿindakawith you
إِنَّنَا
innanāIndeed, we
لَمُهْتَدُونَ
lamuh'tadūna(will) surely be guided
٤٩
(49)
And they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. Indeed, we will be guided."

فَلَمَّا
falammāBut when
كَشَفْنَا
kashafnāWe removed
عَنْهُمُ
ʿanhumufrom them
ٱلْعَذَابَ
l-ʿadhābathe punishment
إِذَا
idhābehold
هُمْ
humThey
يَنكُثُونَ
yankuthūnabroke (their word)
٥٠
(50)
But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.

وَنَادَىٰ
wanādāAnd called out
فِرْعَوْنُ
fir'ʿawnuFiraun
فِى
among
قَوْمِهِۦ
qawmihihis people
قَالَ
qālahe said
يَـٰقَوْمِ
yāqawmiO my people
أَلَيْسَ
alaysaIs not
لِى
for me
مُلْكُ
mul'ku(the) kingdom
مِصْرَ
miṣ'ra(of) Egypt
وَهَـٰذِهِ
wahādhihiand these
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ
l-anhāru[the] rivers
تَجْرِى
tajrīflowing
مِن
minunderneath me
تَحْتِىٓ ۖ
taḥtīunderneath me
أَفَلَا
afalāThen do not
تُبْصِرُونَ
tub'ṣirūnayou see
٥١
(51)
And Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does not the kingdom of Egypt belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see?

أَنَا۠
anāam I
خَيْرٌۭ
khayrunbetter
مِّنْ

هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīone who
هُوَ

مَهِينٌۭ
mahīnun(is) insignificant
وَلَا
walāand hardly
يَكَادُ
yakāduand hardly
يُبِينُ
yubīnuclear
٥٢
(52)
Or am I [not] better than this one [i.e., Moses] who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?

فَلَوْلَآ
falawlāThen why not
أُلْقِىَ
ul'qiyaare placed
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhion him
أَسْوِرَةٌۭ
aswiratunbracelets
مِّن
minof
ذَهَبٍ
dhahabingold
أَوْ
awor
جَآءَ
jāacome
مَعَهُ
maʿahuwith him
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatuthe Angels
مُقْتَرِنِينَ
muq'tarinīnaaccompanying (him)
٥٣
(53)
Then why have there not been placed upon him bracelets of gold or come with him the angels in conjunction?"

فَٱسْتَخَفَّ
fa-is'takhaffaSo he bluffed
قَوْمَهُۥ
qawmahuhis people
فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚ
fa-aṭāʿūhuand they obeyed him
إِنَّهُمْ
innahumIndeed, they
كَانُوا۟
kānūwere
قَوْمًۭا
qawmana people
فَـٰسِقِينَ
fāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
٥٤
(54)
So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allāh].

فَلَمَّآ
falammāSo when
ءَاسَفُونَا
āsafūnāthey angered Us
ٱنتَقَمْنَا
intaqamnāWe took retribution
مِنْهُمْ
min'humfrom them
فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ
fa-aghraqnāhumand We drowned them
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīnaall
٥٥
(55)
And when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
fajaʿalnāhumAnd We made them
سَلَفًۭا
salafana precedent
وَمَثَلًۭا
wamathalanand an example
لِّلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
lil'ākhirīnafor the later (generations)

(56)
And We made them a precedent and an example for the later peoples.

۞ وَلَمَّا
walammāAnd when
ضُرِبَ
ḍuribais presented
ٱبْنُ
ub'nu(the) son
مَرْيَمَ
maryama(of) Maryam
مَثَلًا
mathalan(as) an example
إِذَا
idhābehold
قَوْمُكَ
qawmukaYour people
مِنْهُ
min'huabout it
يَصِدُّونَ
yaṣiddūnalaughed aloud
٥٧
(57)
And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.

وَقَالُوٓا۟
waqālūAnd they said
ءَأَـٰلِهَتُنَا
aālihatunāAre our gods
خَيْرٌ
khayrunbetter
أَمْ
amor
هُوَ ۚ
huwahe
مَا
Not
ضَرَبُوهُ
ḍarabūhuthey present it
لَكَ
lakato you
إِلَّا
illāexcept
جَدَلًۢا ۚ
jadalan(for) argument
بَلْ
balNay
هُمْ
humthey
قَوْمٌ
qawmun(are) a people
خَصِمُونَ
khaṣimūnaargumentative
٥٨
(58)
And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not present it [i.e., the comparison] except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.

عَبْدٌ
ʿabduna slave
أَنْعَمْنَا
anʿamnāWe bestowed Our favor
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhion him
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ
wajaʿalnāhuand We made him
مَثَلًۭا
mathalanan example
لِّبَنِىٓ
libanīfor (the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
is'rāīlafor (the) Children of Israel
٥٩
(59)
He [i.e., Jesus] was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.

وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
نَشَآءُ
nashāuWe willed
لَجَعَلْنَا
lajaʿalnāsurely We (could have) made
مِنكُم
minkumamong you
مَّلَـٰٓئِكَةًۭ
malāikatanAngels
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
يَخْلُفُونَ
yakhlufūnasucceeding
٦٠
(60)
And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth.

وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahuAnd indeed, it
لَعِلْمٌۭ
laʿil'munsurely (is) a knowledge
لِّلسَّاعَةِ
lilssāʿatiof the Hour
فَلَا
falāSo (do) not
تَمْتَرُنَّ
tamtarunna(be) doubtful
بِهَا
bihāabout it
وَٱتَّبِعُونِ ۚ
wa-ittabiʿūniand follow Me
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
صِرَٰطٌۭ
ṣirāṭun(is the) Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭ
mus'taqīmunStraight
٦١
(61)
And indeed, he [i.e., Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.

walāAnd (let) not
يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ
yaṣuddannakumuavert you
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ ۖ
l-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, he
لَكُمْ
lakum(is) for you
عَدُوٌّۭ
ʿaduwwunan enemy
مُّبِينٌۭ
mubīnunclear
٦٢
(62)
And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.

وَلَمَّا
walammāAnd when
جَآءَ
jāacame
عِيسَىٰ
ʿīsāIsa
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ
bil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
قَالَ
qālahe said
قَدْ
qadVerily
جِئْتُكُم
ji'tukumI have come to you
بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ
bil-ḥik'matiwith wisdom
وَلِأُبَيِّنَ
wali-ubayyinaand that I make clear
لَكُم
lakumto you
بَعْضَ
baʿḍasome
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(of) that which
تَخْتَلِفُونَ
takhtalifūnayou differ
فِيهِ ۖ
fīhiin it
فَٱتَّقُوا۟
fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِ
wa-aṭīʿūniand obey me
٦٣
(63)
And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom [i.e., prophethood] and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allāh and obey me.

إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
هُوَ
huwaHe
رَبِّى
rabbī(is) my Lord
وَرَبُّكُمْ
warabbukumand your Lord
فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ
fa-uʿ'budūhuso worship Him
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
صِرَٰطٌۭ
ṣirāṭun(is) a Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭ
mus'taqīmunStraight
٦٤
(64)
Indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."

فَٱخْتَلَفَ
fa-ikh'talafaBut differed
ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
l-aḥzābuthe factions
مِنۢ
minfrom
بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ
baynihimamong them
فَوَيْلٌۭ
fawaylunso woe
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīnato those who
ظَلَمُوا۟
ẓalamūwronged
مِنْ
minfrom
عَذَابِ
ʿadhābi(the) punishment
يَوْمٍ
yawmin(of the) Day
أَلِيمٍ
alīminpainful
٦٥
(65)
But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.

halAre
يَنظُرُونَ
yanẓurūnathey waiting
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
l-sāʿata(for) the Hour
أَن
anthat
تَأْتِيَهُم
tatiyahumit should come on them
بَغْتَةًۭ
baghtatansuddenly
وَهُمْ
wahumwhile they
لَا
(do) not
يَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūnaperceive
٦٦
(66)
Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?

ٱلْأَخِلَّآءُ
al-akhilāuFriends
يَوْمَئِذٍۭ
yawma-idhinthat Day
بَعْضُهُمْ
baʿḍuhumsome of them
لِبَعْضٍ
libaʿḍinto others
عَدُوٌّ
ʿaduwwun(will be) enemies
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīnathe righteous
٦٧
(67)
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous

يَـٰعِبَادِ
yāʿibādiO My slaves
لَا
No
خَوْفٌ
khawfunfear
عَلَيْكُمُ
ʿalaykumuon you
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawmathis Day
وَلَآ
walāand not
أَنتُمْ
antumyou
تَحْزَنُونَ
taḥzanūnawill grieve
٦٨
(68)
[To whom Allāh will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,

ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnaThose who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanūbelieved
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātināin Our Verses
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānūand were
مُسْلِمِينَ
mus'limīnasubmissive
٦٩
(69)
[You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.

ٱدْخُلُوا۟
ud'khulūEnter
ٱلْجَنَّةَ
l-janataParadise
أَنتُمْ
antumyou
وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْ
wa-azwājukumand your spouses
تُحْبَرُونَ
tuḥ'barūnadelighted
٧٠
(70)
Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."

يُطَافُ
yuṭāfuWill be circulated
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhimfor them
بِصِحَافٍۢ
biṣiḥāfinplates
مِّن
minof
ذَهَبٍۢ
dhahabingold
وَأَكْوَابٍۢ ۖ
wa-akwābinand cups
وَفِيهَا
wafīhāAnd therein
مَا
(is) what
تَشْتَهِيهِ
tashtahīhidesires
ٱلْأَنفُسُ
l-anfusuthe souls
وَتَلَذُّ
wataladhuand delights
ٱلْأَعْيُنُ ۖ
l-aʿyunuthe eyes
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antumand you
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnawill abide forever
٧١
(71)
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.

وَتِلْكَ
watil'kaAnd this
ٱلْجَنَّةُ
l-janatu(is) the Paradise
ٱلَّتِىٓ
allatīwhich
أُورِثْتُمُوهَا
ūrith'tumūhāyou are made to inherit
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūnado
٧٢
(72)
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.

لَكُمْ
lakumFor you
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
فَـٰكِهَةٌۭ
fākihatun(are) fruits
كَثِيرَةٌۭ
kathīratunabundant
مِّنْهَا
min'hāfrom it
تَأْكُلُونَ
takulūnayou will eat
٧٣
(73)
For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.

إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīnathe criminals
فِى
(will be) in
عَذَابِ
ʿadhābi(the) punishment
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnaabiding forever
٧٤
(74)
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.

لَا
Not
يُفَتَّرُ
yufattaruwill it subside
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhumfor them
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
فِيهِ
fīhiin it
مُبْلِسُونَ
mub'lisūna(will) despair
٧٥
(75)
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
ظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْ
ẓalamnāhumWe wronged them
وَلَـٰكِن
walākinbut
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey were
هُمُ
humuthemselves
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnawrongdoers
٧٦
(76)
And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.

وَنَادَوْا۟
wanādawAnd they will call
يَـٰمَـٰلِكُ
yāmālikuO Malik
لِيَقْضِ
liyaqḍiLet put an end
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynāto us
رَبُّكَ ۖ
rabbukayour Lord
قَالَ
qālaHe (will) say
إِنَّكُم
innakumIndeed, you
مَّـٰكِثُونَ
mākithūna(will) remain
٧٧
(77)
And they will call, "O Mālik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."

لَقَدْ
laqadCertainly
جِئْنَـٰكُم
ji'nākumWe have brought you
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqithe truth
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinnabut
أَكْثَرَكُمْ
aktharakummost of you
لِلْحَقِّ
lil'ḥaqqito the truth
كَـٰرِهُونَ
kārihūna(are) averse
٧٨
(78)
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.

أَمْ
amOr
أَبْرَمُوٓا۟
abramūhave they determined
أَمْرًۭا
amranan affair
فَإِنَّا
fa-innāThen indeed, We
مُبْرِمُونَ
mub'rimūna(are) determined
٧٩
(79)
Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].

يَحْسَبُونَ
yaḥsabūna(do) they think
أَنَّا
annāthat We
لَا
(can) not
نَسْمَعُ
nasmaʿuhear
سِرَّهُمْ
sirrahumtheir secret(s)
وَنَجْوَىٰهُم ۚ
wanajwāhumand their private counsel(s)
بَلَىٰ
balāNay
وَرُسُلُنَا
warusulunāand Our Messengers
لَدَيْهِمْ
ladayhimwith them
يَكْتُبُونَ
yaktubūnaare recording
٨٠
(80)
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers [i.e., angels] are with them recording.

إِن
inIf
كَانَ
kānahad
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmānithe Most Gracious
وَلَدٌۭ
waladuna son
فَأَنَا۠
fa-anāThen, I
أَوَّلُ
awwalu(would be the) first
ٱلْعَـٰبِدِينَ
l-ʿābidīna(of) the worshippers
٨١
(81)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."

سُبْحَـٰنَ
sub'ḥānaGlory be
رَبِّ
rabbi(to the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍiand the earth
رَبِّ
rabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَرْشِ
l-ʿarshi(of) the Throne
عَمَّا
ʿammāabove what
يَصِفُونَ
yaṣifūnathey ascribe
٨٢
(82)
Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.

فَذَرْهُمْ
fadharhumSo leave them
يَخُوضُوا۟
yakhūḍū(to) converse vainly
وَيَلْعَبُوا۟
wayalʿabūand play
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattāuntil
يُلَـٰقُوا۟
yulāqūthey meet
يَوْمَهُمُ
yawmahumutheir Day
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīwhich
يُوعَدُونَ
yūʿadūnathey are promised
٨٣
(83)
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(is) the One Who
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāithe heaven
إِلَـٰهٌۭ
ilāhunGod
وَفِى
wafīand in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
إِلَـٰهٌۭ ۚ
ilāhunGod
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmu(is) the All-Wise
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
٨٤
(84)
And it is He [i.e., Allāh] who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the Wise, the Knowing.

85
وَتَبَارَكَ
watabārakaAnd blessed (is)
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthe One Who
لَهُۥ
lahuto Whom
مُلْكُ
mul'ku(belongs the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍiand the earth
وَمَا
wamāand whatever
بَيْنَهُمَا
baynahumā(is) between both of them
وَعِندَهُۥ
waʿindahuand with Him
عِلْمُ
ʿil'mu(is the) knowledge
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
l-sāʿati(of) the Hour
وَإِلَيْهِ
wa-ilayhiand to Him
تُرْجَعُونَ
tur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
٨٥
(85)
And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.

وَلَا
walāAnd not
يَمْلِكُ
yamlikuhave power
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose whom
يَدْعُونَ
yadʿūnathey invoke
مِن
minbesides Him
دُونِهِ
dūnihibesides Him
ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ
l-shafāʿata(for) the intercession
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مَن
manwho
شَهِدَ
shahidatestifies
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqito the truth
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnaknow
٨٦
(86)
And those they invoke besides Him do not possess [power of] intercession; but only those who testify to the truth [can benefit], and they know.

وَلَئِن
wala-inAnd if
سَأَلْتَهُم
sa-altahumyou ask them
مَّنْ
manwho
خَلَقَهُمْ
khalaqahumcreated them
لَيَقُولُنَّ
layaqūlunnathey will certainly say
ٱللَّهُ ۖ
l-lahuAllah
فَأَنَّىٰ
fa-annāThen how
يُؤْفَكُونَ
yu'fakūnaare they deluded
٨٧
(87)
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allāh." So how are they deluded?

وَقِيلِهِۦ
waqīlihiAnd his saying
يَـٰرَبِّ
yārabbiO my Lord
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāithese
قَوْمٌۭ
qawmun(are) a people
لَّا
(who do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
٨٨
(88)
And [Allāh acknowledges] his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."

فَٱصْفَحْ
fa-iṣ'faḥSo turn away
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhumfrom them
وَقُلْ
waquland say
سَلَـٰمٌۭ ۚ
salāmunPeace
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfaBut soon
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnathey will know
٨٩
(89)
So turn aside from them and say, "Peace." But they are going to know.
