وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِwal-kitābiBy the Book
ٱلْمُبِينِl-mubīnithe clear
٢(2)
By the clear Book,
Juz 25Page 489
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
جَعَلْنَـٰهُjaʿalnāhu(have) made it
قُرْءَٰنًاqur'ānana Quran
عَرَبِيًّۭاʿarabiyyan(in) Arabic
لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnaunderstand
٣(3)
Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’ān that you might understand.

وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, it
فِىٓfī(is) in
أُمِّummi(the) Mother
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
لَدَيْنَاladaynāwith Us
لَعَلِىٌّlaʿaliyyunsurely exalted
حَكِيمٌḥakīmunfull of wisdom
٤(4)
And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.

أَفَنَضْرِبُafanaḍribuThen should We take away
عَنكُمُʿankumufrom you
ٱلذِّكْرَl-dhik'rathe Reminder
صَفْحًاṣafḥandisregarding (you)
أَنanbecause
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
قَوْمًۭاqawmana people
مُّسْرِفِينَmus'rifīnatransgressing
٥(5)
Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?
Juz 25Page 489
وَكَمْwakamAnd how many
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
مِنminof
نَّبِىٍّۢnabiyyina Prophet
فِىfīamong
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former (people)
٦(6)
And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,

وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَأْتِيهِمyatīhimcame to them
مِّنminany Prophet
نَّبِىٍّnabiyyinany Prophet
إِلَّاillābut
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
بِهِۦbihimock at him
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock at him
٧(7)
But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.

فَأَهْلَكْنَآfa-ahlaknāThen We destroyed
أَشَدَّashaddastronger
مِنْهُمmin'humthan them
بَطْشًۭاbaṭshan(in) power
وَمَضَىٰwamaḍāand has passed
مَثَلُmathalu(the) example
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)
٨(8)
And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.

وَلَئِنwala-inAnd if
سَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahumyou ask them
مَّنْmanWho
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnaThey will surely say
خَلَقَهُنَّkhalaqahunnaCreated them
ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mighty
ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
٩(9)
And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing,"

ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
لَكُمُlakumufor you
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth
مَهْدًۭاmahdana bed
وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand made
لَكُمْlakumfor you
فِيهَاfīhātherein
سُبُلًۭاsubulanroads
لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تَهْتَدُونَtahtadūna(be) guided
١٠(10)
[The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided
Juz 25Page 489
وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīAnd the One Who
نَزَّلَnazzalasends down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مَآءًۢmāanwater
بِقَدَرٍۢbiqadarinin (due) measure
فَأَنشَرْنَاfa-ansharnāthen We revive
بِهِۦbihiwith it
بَلْدَةًۭbaldatana land
مَّيْتًۭا ۚmaytandead
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikathus
تُخْرَجُونَtukh'rajūnayou will be brought forth
١١(11)
And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth -
Juz 25Page 490
وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīAnd the One Who
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَl-azwājathe pairs
كُلَّهَاkullahāall of them
وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand made
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنَmina[of]
ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe ships
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِwal-anʿāmiand the cattle
مَاmāwhat
تَرْكَبُونَtarkabūnayou ride
١٢(12)
And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount
Juz 25Page 490
لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟litastawūThat you may sit firmly
عَلَىٰʿalāon
ظُهُورِهِۦẓuhūrihitheir backs
ثُمَّthummathen
تَذْكُرُوا۟tadhkurūremember
نِعْمَةَniʿ'mata(the) favor
رَبِّكُمْrabbikum(of) your Lord
إِذَاidhāwhen
ٱسْتَوَيْتُمْis'tawaytumyou sit firmly
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion them
وَتَقُولُوا۟wataqūlūand say
سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory be (to)
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
سَخَّرَsakhara(has) subjected
لَنَاlanāto us
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
وَمَاwamāand not
كُنَّاkunnāwe were
لَهُۥlahuof it
مُقْرِنِينَmuq'rinīnacapable
١٣(13)
That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.
Juz 25Page 490
وَإِنَّآwa-innāAnd indeed, we
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّنَاrabbināour Lord
لَمُنقَلِبُونَlamunqalibūnawill surely return
١٤(14)
And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return."
Juz 25Page 490
وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalūBut they attribute
لَهُۥlahuto Him
مِنْminfrom
عِبَادِهِۦʿibādihiHis slaves
جُزْءًا ۚjuz'ana portion
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insānaman
لَكَفُورٌۭlakafūrunsurely (is) clearly ungrateful
مُّبِينٌmubīnunsurely (is) clearly ungrateful
١٥(15)
But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful.

أَمِamiOr
ٱتَّخَذَittakhadhahas He taken
مِمَّاmimmāof what
يَخْلُقُyakhluquHe has created
بَنَاتٍۢbanātindaughters
وَأَصْفَىٰكُمwa-aṣfākumand He has chosen (for) you
بِٱلْبَنِينَbil-banīnasons
١٦(16)
Or has He taken, out of what He has created, daughters and chosen you for [having] sons?
Juz 25Page 490
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
بُشِّرَbushirais given good news
أَحَدُهُمaḥaduhum(to) one of them
بِمَاbimāof what
ضَرَبَḍarabahe sets up
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmānifor the Most Gracious
مَثَلًۭاmathalan(as) a likeness
ظَلَّẓallabecomes
وَجْهُهُۥwajhuhuhis face
مُسْوَدًّۭاmus'waddandark
وَهُوَwahuwaand he
كَظِيمٌkaẓīmun(is) filled with grief
١٧(17)
And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison [i.e., a daughter], his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.

أَوَمَنawamanThen (is one) who
يُنَشَّؤُا۟yunasha-uis brought up
فِىfīin
ٱلْحِلْيَةِl-ḥil'yatiornaments
وَهُوَwahuwaand he
فِىfīin
ٱلْخِصَامِl-khiṣāmithe dispute
غَيْرُghayru(is) not
مُبِينٍۢmubīninclear
١٨(18)
So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allāh]?

وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalūAnd they made
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَl-malāikatathe Angels
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
هُمْhumthemselves
عِبَـٰدُʿibādu(are) slaves
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni(of) the Most Gracious
إِنَـٰثًا ۚināthanfemales
أَشَهِدُوا۟ashahidūDid they witness
خَلْقَهُمْ ۚkhalqahumtheir creation
سَتُكْتَبُsatuk'tabuWill be recorded
شَهَـٰدَتُهُمْshahādatuhumtheir testimony
وَيُسْـَٔلُونَwayus'alūnaand they will be questioned
١٩(19)
And they described the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, as females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.
Juz 25Page 490
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they say
لَوْlawIf
شَآءَshāahad willed
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānuthe Most Gracious
مَاmāwe would not have worshipped them
عَبَدْنَـٰهُم ۗʿabadnāhumwe would not have worshipped them
مَّاmāNot
لَهُمlahumthey have
بِذَٰلِكَbidhālikaabout that
مِنْminany
عِلْمٍ ۖʿil'minknowledge
إِنْinNothing
هُمْhumthey (do)
إِلَّاillābut
يَخْرُصُونَyakhruṣūnalie
٢٠(20)
And they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They have of that no knowledge. They are not but misjudging.

أَمْamOr
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْātaynāhumhave We given them
كِتَـٰبًۭاkitābana book
مِّنminbefore it
قَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore it
فَهُمfahumso they
بِهِۦbihito it
مُسْتَمْسِكُونَmus'tamsikūna(are) holding fast
٢١(21)
Or have We given them a book before it [i.e., the Qur’ān] to which they are adhering?
Juz 25Page 490
بَلْbalNay
قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey say
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
وَجَدْنَآwajadnā[we] found
ءَابَآءَنَاābāanāour forefathers
عَلَىٰٓʿalāupon
أُمَّةٍۢummatina religion
وَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, we
عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
ءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihimtheir footsteps
مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna(are) guided
٢٢(22)
Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."
Juz 25Page 490
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
مَآmānot
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
مِنminbefore you
قَبْلِكَqablikabefore you
فِىfīin
قَرْيَةٍۢqaryatina town
مِّنminany
نَّذِيرٍnadhīrinwarner
إِلَّاillāexcept
قَالَqālasaid
مُتْرَفُوهَآmut'rafūhā(the) wealthy ones of it
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
وَجَدْنَآwajadnā[we] found
ءَابَآءَنَاābāanāour forefathers
عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
أُمَّةٍۢummatina religion
وَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, we
عَلَىٰٓʿalā[on]
ءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihimtheir footsteps
مُّقْتَدُونَmuq'tadūna(are) following
٢٣(23)
And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."
Juz 25Page 491
۞ قَـٰلَqālaHe said
أَوَلَوْawalawEven if
جِئْتُكُمji'tukumI brought you
بِأَهْدَىٰbi-ahdābetter guidance
مِمَّاmimmāthan what
وَجَدتُّمْwajadttumyou found
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion it
ءَابَآءَكُمْ ۖābāakumyour forefathers
قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
بِمَآbimāwith what
أُرْسِلْتُمur'sil'tumyou are sent
بِهِۦbihiwith [it]
كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
٢٤(24)
[Each warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."
Juz 25Page 491
فَٱنتَقَمْنَاfa-intaqamnāSo We took retribution
مِنْهُمْ ۖmin'humfrom them
فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurThen see
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīna(of) the deniers
٢٥(25)
So We took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers.
Juz 25Page 491
وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
قَالَqālaIbrahim Said
إِبْرَٰهِيمُib'rāhīmuIbrahim Said
لِأَبِيهِli-abīhito his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦٓwaqawmihiand his people
إِنَّنِىinnanīIndeed, I (am)
بَرَآءٌۭbarāondisassociated
مِّمَّاmimmāfrom what
تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worship
٢٦(26)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship

إِلَّاillāExcept
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
فَطَرَنِىfaṭaranīcreated me
فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuand indeed, He
سَيَهْدِينِsayahdīniwill guide me
٢٧(27)
Except for He who created me; and indeed, He will guide me."
Juz 25Page 491
وَجَعَلَهَاwajaʿalahāAnd he made it
كَلِمَةًۢkalimatana word
بَاقِيَةًۭbāqiyatanlasting
فِىfīamong
عَقِبِهِۦʿaqibihihis descendents
لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnareturn
٢٨(28)
And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it].
Juz 25Page 491
بَلْbalNay
مَتَّعْتُmattaʿtuI gave enjoyment
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāi(to) these
وَءَابَآءَهُمْwaābāahumand their forefathers
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
جَآءَهُمُjāahumucame to them
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truth
وَرَسُولٌۭwarasūlunand a Messenger
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear
٢٩(29)
However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth and a clear Messenger.

وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
جَآءَهُمُjāahumucame to them
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truth
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
سِحْرٌۭsiḥ'run(is) magic
وَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, we
بِهِۦbihiof it
كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
٣٠(30)
But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers."
Juz 25Page 491
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they say
لَوْلَاlawlāWhy not
نُزِّلَnuzzilawas sent down
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
ٱلْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānuthe Quran
عَلَىٰʿalāto
رَجُلٍۢrajulina man
مِّنَminafrom
ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِl-qaryataynithe two towns
عَظِيمٍʿaẓīmingreat
٣١(31)
And they said, "Why was this Qur’ān not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"

أَهُمْahumDo they
يَقْسِمُونَyaqsimūnadistribute
رَحْمَتَraḥmata(the) Mercy
رَبِّكَ ۚrabbika(of) your Lord
نَحْنُnaḥnuWe
قَسَمْنَاqasamnā[We] distribute
بَيْنَهُمbaynahumamong them
مَّعِيشَتَهُمْmaʿīshatahumtheir livelihood
فِىfīin
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَرَفَعْنَاwarafaʿnāand We raise
بَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of them
فَوْقَfawqaabove
بَعْضٍۢbaʿḍinothers
دَرَجَـٰتٍۢdarajātin(in) degrees
لِّيَتَّخِذَliyattakhidhaso that may take
بَعْضُهُمbaʿḍuhumsome of them
بَعْضًۭاbaʿḍanothers
سُخْرِيًّۭا ۗsukh'riyyan(for) service
وَرَحْمَتُwaraḥmatuBut (the) Mercy
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) better
مِّمَّاmimmāthan what
يَجْمَعُونَyajmaʿūnathey accumulate
٣٢(32)
Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.
Juz 25Page 491
وَلَوْلَآwalawlāAnd if not
أَنanthat
يَكُونَyakūna(would) become
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsu[the] mankind
أُمَّةًۭummatana community
وَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatanone
لَّجَعَلْنَاlajaʿalnāWe (would have) made
لِمَنlimanfor (one) who
يَكْفُرُyakfurudisbelieves
بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِbil-raḥmāniin the Most Gracious
لِبُيُوتِهِمْlibuyūtihimfor their houses
سُقُفًۭاsuqufanroofs
مِّنminof
فِضَّةٍۢfiḍḍatinsilver
وَمَعَارِجَwamaʿārijaand stairways
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon which
يَظْهَرُونَyaẓharūnathey mount
٣٣(33)
And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount.
Juz 25Page 491
وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْwalibuyūtihimAnd for their houses
أَبْوَٰبًۭاabwābandoors
وَسُرُرًاwasururanand couches
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon which
يَتَّكِـُٔونَyattakiūnathey recline
٣٤(34)
And for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline
Juz 25Page 492
وَزُخْرُفًۭا ۚwazukh'rufanAnd ornaments of gold
وَإِنwa-inAnd not (is)
كُلُّkulluall
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَمَّاlammābut
مَتَـٰعُmatāʿuan enjoyment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُwal-ākhiratuAnd the Hereafter
عِندَʿindawith
رَبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
لِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna(is) for the righteous
٣٥(35)
And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.
Juz 25Page 492
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يَعْشُyaʿshuturns away
عَنʿanfrom
ذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembrance
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni(of) the Most Gracious
نُقَيِّضْnuqayyiḍWe appoint
لَهُۥlahufor him
شَيْطَـٰنًۭاshayṭānana devil
فَهُوَfahuwathen he
لَهُۥlahu(is) to him
قَرِينٌۭqarīnuna companion
٣٦(36)
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.
Juz 25Page 492
وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumAnd indeed, they
لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْlayaṣuddūnahumsurely, turn them
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe Path
وَيَحْسَبُونَwayaḥsabūnaand they think
أَنَّهُمannahumthat they
مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna(are) guided
٣٧(37)
And indeed, they [i.e., the devils] avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided
Juz 25Page 492
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāUntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
جَآءَنَاjāanāhe comes to Us
قَالَqālahe says
يَـٰلَيْتَyālaytaO would that
بَيْنِىbaynībetween me
وَبَيْنَكَwabaynakaand between you
بُعْدَbuʿ'da(were the) distance
ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِl-mashriqayni(of) the East and the West
فَبِئْسَfabi'saHow wretched is
ٱلْقَرِينُl-qarīnuthe companion
٣٨(38)
Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "How I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west; and what a wretched companion."
Juz 25Page 492
وَلَنwalanAnd never
يَنفَعَكُمُyanfaʿakumuwill benefit you
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmathe Day
إِذidhwhen
ظَّلَمْتُمْẓalamtumyou have wronged
أَنَّكُمْannakumthat you
فِىfī(will be) in
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishment
مُشْتَرِكُونَmush'tarikūnasharing
٣٩(39)
And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment.
Juz 25Page 492
أَفَأَنتَafa-antaThen can you
تُسْمِعُtus'miʿucause to hear
ٱلصُّمَّl-ṣumathe deaf
أَوْawor
تَهْدِىtahdīguide
ٱلْعُمْىَl-ʿum'yathe blind
وَمَنwamanand (one) who
كَانَkānais
فِىfīin
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinan error
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninclear
٤٠(40)
Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muḥammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?
Juz 25Page 492
فَإِمَّاfa-immāAnd whether
نَذْهَبَنَّnadhhabannaWe take you away
بِكَbikaWe take you away
فَإِنَّاfa-innāthen indeed, We
مِنْهُمmin'humfrom them
مُّنتَقِمُونَmuntaqimūna(will) take retribution
٤١(41)
And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them.
Juz 25Page 492
أَوْawOr
نُرِيَنَّكَnuriyannakaWe show you
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthat which
وَعَدْنَـٰهُمْwaʿadnāhumWe have promised them
فَإِنَّاfa-innāthen indeed, We
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimover them
مُّقْتَدِرُونَmuq'tadirūnahave full power
٤٢(42)
Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability.
Juz 25Page 492
فَٱسْتَمْسِكْfa-is'tamsikSo hold fast
بِٱلَّذِىٓbi-alladhīto that which
أُوحِىَūḥiyais revealed
إِلَيْكَ ۖilaykato you
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you
عَلَىٰʿalā(are) on
صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭina Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīminStraight
٤٣(43)
So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.
Juz 25Page 492
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, it
لَذِكْرٌۭladhik'run(is) surely, a Reminder
لَّكَlakafor you
وَلِقَوْمِكَ ۖwaliqawmikaand your people
وَسَوْفَwasawfaand soon
تُسْـَٔلُونَtus'alūnayou will be questioned
٤٤(44)
And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned.

وَسْـَٔلْwasalAnd ask
مَنْman(those) whom
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
مِنminbefore you
قَبْلِكَqablikabefore you
مِنminof
رُّسُلِنَآrusulināOur Messengers
أَجَعَلْنَاajaʿalnādid We make
مِنminbesides
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
ءَالِهَةًۭālihatangods
يُعْبَدُونَyuʿ'badūnato be worshipped
٤٥(45)
And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped?

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināwith Our Signs
إِلَىٰilāto
فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦwamala-ihiand his chiefs
فَقَالَfaqālaand he said
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
رَسُولُrasūlua Messenger
رَبِّrabbi(of the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٤٦(46)
And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."

فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
جَآءَهُمjāahumhe came to them
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināwith Our Signs
إِذَاidhābehold
هُمhumThey
مِّنْهَاmin'hāat them
يَضْحَكُونَyaḍḥakūnalaughed
٤٧(47)
But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.

وَمَاwamāAnd not
نُرِيهِمnurīhimWe showed them
مِّنْminof
ءَايَةٍāyatina Sign
إِلَّاillābut
هِىَhiyait
أَكْبَرُakbaru(was) greater
مِنْminthan
أُخْتِهَا ۖukh'tihāits sister
وَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمwa-akhadhnāhumand We seized them
بِٱلْعَذَابِbil-ʿadhābiwith the punishment
لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnareturn
٤٨(48)
And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they said
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَyāayyuhaO
ٱلسَّاحِرُl-sāḥiru[the] magician
ٱدْعُud'ʿuInvoke
لَنَاlanāfor us
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
بِمَاbimāby what
عَهِدَʿahidaHe has made covenant
عِندَكَʿindakawith you
إِنَّنَاinnanāIndeed, we
لَمُهْتَدُونَlamuh'tadūna(will) surely be guided
٤٩(49)
And they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. Indeed, we will be guided."

فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
كَشَفْنَاkashafnāWe removed
عَنْهُمُʿanhumufrom them
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
إِذَاidhābehold
هُمْhumThey
يَنكُثُونَyankuthūnabroke (their word)
٥٠(50)
But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.

وَنَادَىٰwanādāAnd called out
فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraun
فِىfīamong
قَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis people
قَالَqālahe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
أَلَيْسَalaysaIs not
لِىlīfor me
مُلْكُmul'ku(the) kingdom
مِصْرَmiṣ'ra(of) Egypt
وَهَـٰذِهِwahādhihiand these
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāru[the] rivers
تَجْرِىtajrīflowing
مِنminunderneath me
تَحْتِىٓ ۖtaḥtīunderneath me
أَفَلَاafalāThen do not
تُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou see
٥١(51)
And Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does not the kingdom of Egypt belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see?

أَمْamOr
أَنَا۠anāam I
خَيْرٌۭkhayrunbetter
مِّنْminthan
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
ٱلَّذِىalladhīone who
هُوَhuwahe
مَهِينٌۭmahīnun(is) insignificant
وَلَاwalāand hardly
يَكَادُyakāduand hardly
يُبِينُyubīnuclear
٥٢(52)
Or am I [not] better than this one [i.e., Moses] who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?

فَلَوْلَآfalawlāThen why not
أُلْقِىَul'qiyaare placed
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion him
أَسْوِرَةٌۭaswiratunbracelets
مِّنminof
ذَهَبٍdhahabingold
أَوْawor
جَآءَjāacome
مَعَهُmaʿahuwith him
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angels
مُقْتَرِنِينَmuq'tarinīnaaccompanying (him)
٥٣(53)
Then why have there not been placed upon him bracelets of gold or come with him the angels in conjunction?"

فَٱسْتَخَفَّfa-is'takhaffaSo he bluffed
قَوْمَهُۥqawmahuhis people
فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚfa-aṭāʿūhuand they obeyed him
إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, they
كَانُوا۟kānūwere
قَوْمًۭاqawmana people
فَـٰسِقِينَfāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
٥٤(54)
So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allāh].

فَلَمَّآfalammāSo when
ءَاسَفُونَاāsafūnāthey angered Us
ٱنتَقَمْنَاintaqamnāWe took retribution
مِنْهُمْmin'humfrom them
فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْfa-aghraqnāhumand We drowned them
أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
٥٥(55)
And when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْfajaʿalnāhumAnd We made them
سَلَفًۭاsalafana precedent
وَمَثَلًۭاwamathalanand an example
لِّلْـَٔاخِرِينَlil'ākhirīnafor the later (generations)
٥٦(56)
And We made them a precedent and an example for the later peoples.

۞ وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
ضُرِبَḍuribais presented
ٱبْنُub'nu(the) son
مَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryam
مَثَلًاmathalan(as) an example
إِذَاidhābehold
قَوْمُكَqawmukaYour people
مِنْهُmin'huabout it
يَصِدُّونَyaṣiddūnalaughed aloud
٥٧(57)
And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.

وَقَالُوٓا۟waqālūAnd they said
ءَأَـٰلِهَتُنَاaālihatunāAre our gods
خَيْرٌkhayrunbetter
أَمْamor
هُوَ ۚhuwahe
مَاmāNot
ضَرَبُوهُḍarabūhuthey present it
لَكَlakato you
إِلَّاillāexcept
جَدَلًۢا ۚjadalan(for) argument
بَلْbalNay
هُمْhumthey
قَوْمٌqawmun(are) a people
خَصِمُونَkhaṣimūnaargumentative
٥٨(58)
And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not present it [i.e., the comparison] except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.

إِنْinNot
هُوَhuwahe
إِلَّاillā(was) except
عَبْدٌʿabduna slave
أَنْعَمْنَاanʿamnāWe bestowed Our favor
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion him
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُwajaʿalnāhuand We made him
مَثَلًۭاmathalanan example
لِّبَنِىٓlibanīfor (the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīlafor (the) Children of Israel
٥٩(59)
He [i.e., Jesus] was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
نَشَآءُnashāuWe willed
لَجَعَلْنَاlajaʿalnāsurely We (could have) made
مِنكُمminkumamong you
مَّلَـٰٓئِكَةًۭmalāikatanAngels
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
يَخْلُفُونَyakhlufūnasucceeding
٦٠(60)
And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth.
Juz 25Page 493
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, it
لَعِلْمٌۭlaʿil'munsurely (is) a knowledge
لِّلسَّاعَةِlilssāʿatiof the Hour
فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
تَمْتَرُنَّtamtarunna(be) doubtful
بِهَاbihāabout it
وَٱتَّبِعُونِ ۚwa-ittabiʿūniand follow Me
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
صِرَٰطٌۭṣirāṭun(is the) Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭmus'taqīmunStraight
٦١(61)
And indeed, he [i.e., Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.

وَلَاwalāAnd (let) not
يَصُدَّنَّكُمُyaṣuddannakumuavert you
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ ۖl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
لَكُمْlakum(is) for you
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwunan enemy
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear
٦٢(62)
And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
Juz 25Page 494
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd when
جَآءَjāacame
عِيسَىٰʿīsāIsa
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofs
قَالَqālahe said
قَدْqadVerily
جِئْتُكُمji'tukumI have come to you
بِٱلْحِكْمَةِbil-ḥik'matiwith wisdom
وَلِأُبَيِّنَwali-ubayyinaand that I make clear
لَكُمlakumto you
بَعْضَbaʿḍasome
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(of) that which
تَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnayou differ
فِيهِ ۖfīhiin it
فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me
٦٣(63)
And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom [i.e., prophethood] and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allāh and obey me.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
هُوَhuwaHe
رَبِّىrabbī(is) my Lord
وَرَبُّكُمْwarabbukumand your Lord
فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚfa-uʿ'budūhuso worship Him
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
صِرَٰطٌۭṣirāṭun(is) a Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭmus'taqīmunStraight
٦٤(64)
Indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
Juz 25Page 494
فَٱخْتَلَفَfa-ikh'talafaBut differed
ٱلْأَحْزَابُl-aḥzābuthe factions
مِنۢminfrom
بَيْنِهِمْ ۖbaynihimamong them
فَوَيْلٌۭfawaylunso woe
لِّلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamūwronged
مِنْminfrom
عَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishment
يَوْمٍyawmin(of the) Day
أَلِيمٍalīminpainful
٦٥(65)
But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.

هَلْhalAre
يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnathey waiting
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلسَّاعَةَl-sāʿata(for) the Hour
أَنanthat
تَأْتِيَهُمtatiyahumit should come on them
بَغْتَةًۭbaghtatansuddenly
وَهُمْwahumwhile they
لَاlā(do) not
يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
٦٦(66)
Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?

ٱلْأَخِلَّآءُal-akhilāuFriends
يَوْمَئِذٍۭyawma-idhinthat Day
بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of them
لِبَعْضٍlibaʿḍinto others
عَدُوٌّʿaduwwun(will be) enemies
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe righteous
٦٧(67)
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous

يَـٰعِبَادِyāʿibādiO My slaves
لَاlāNo
خَوْفٌkhawfunfear
عَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuon you
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmathis Day
وَلَآwalāand not
أَنتُمْantumyou
تَحْزَنُونَtaḥzanūnawill grieve
٦٨(68)
[To whom Allāh will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināin Our Verses
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūand were
مُسْلِمِينَmus'limīnasubmissive
٦٩(69)
[You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.

ٱدْخُلُوا۟ud'khulūEnter
ٱلْجَنَّةَl-janataParadise
أَنتُمْantumyou
وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْwa-azwājukumand your spouses
تُحْبَرُونَtuḥ'barūnadelighted
٧٠(70)
Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
Juz 25Page 494
يُطَافُyuṭāfuWill be circulated
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimfor them
بِصِحَافٍۢbiṣiḥāfinplates
مِّنminof
ذَهَبٍۢdhahabingold
وَأَكْوَابٍۢ ۖwa-akwābinand cups
وَفِيهَاwafīhāAnd therein
مَاmā(is) what
تَشْتَهِيهِtashtahīhidesires
ٱلْأَنفُسُl-anfusuthe souls
وَتَلَذُّwataladhuand delights
ٱلْأَعْيُنُ ۖl-aʿyunuthe eyes
وَأَنتُمْwa-antumand you
فِيهَاfīhātherein
خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūnawill abide forever
٧١(71)
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
Juz 25Page 494
وَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd this
ٱلْجَنَّةُl-janatu(is) the Paradise
ٱلَّتِىٓallatīwhich
أُورِثْتُمُوهَاūrith'tumūhāyou are made to inherit
بِمَاbimāfor what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
٧٢(72)
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
Juz 25Page 494
لَكُمْlakumFor you
فِيهَاfīhātherein
فَـٰكِهَةٌۭfākihatun(are) fruits
كَثِيرَةٌۭkathīratunabundant
مِّنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
تَأْكُلُونَtakulūnayou will eat
٧٣(73)
For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīnathe criminals
فِىfī(will be) in
عَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishment
جَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūnaabiding forever
٧٤(74)
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
Juz 25Page 495
لَاlāNot
يُفَتَّرُyufattaruwill it subside
عَنْهُمْʿanhumfor them
وَهُمْwahumand they
فِيهِfīhiin it
مُبْلِسُونَmub'lisūna(will) despair
٧٥(75)
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.

وَمَاwamāAnd not
ظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْẓalamnāhumWe wronged them
وَلَـٰكِنwalākinbut
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
هُمُhumuthemselves
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnawrongdoers
٧٦(76)
And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
Juz 25Page 495
وَنَادَوْا۟wanādawAnd they will call
يَـٰمَـٰلِكُyāmālikuO Malik
لِيَقْضِliyaqḍiLet put an end
عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāto us
رَبُّكَ ۖrabbukayour Lord
قَالَqālaHe (will) say
إِنَّكُمinnakumIndeed, you
مَّـٰكِثُونَmākithūna(will) remain
٧٧(77)
And they will call, "O Mālik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
Juz 25Page 495
لَقَدْlaqadCertainly
جِئْنَـٰكُمji'nākumWe have brought you
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqithe truth
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
أَكْثَرَكُمْaktharakummost of you
لِلْحَقِّlil'ḥaqqito the truth
كَـٰرِهُونَkārihūna(are) averse
٧٨(78)
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
Juz 25Page 495
أَمْamOr
أَبْرَمُوٓا۟abramūhave they determined
أَمْرًۭاamranan affair
فَإِنَّاfa-innāThen indeed, We
مُبْرِمُونَmub'rimūna(are) determined
٧٩(79)
Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].

أَمْamOr
يَحْسَبُونَyaḥsabūna(do) they think
أَنَّاannāthat We
لَاlā(can) not
نَسْمَعُnasmaʿuhear
سِرَّهُمْsirrahumtheir secret(s)
وَنَجْوَىٰهُم ۚwanajwāhumand their private counsel(s)
بَلَىٰbalāNay
وَرُسُلُنَاwarusulunāand Our Messengers
لَدَيْهِمْladayhimwith them
يَكْتُبُونَyaktubūnaare recording
٨٠(80)
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers [i.e., angels] are with them recording.

قُلْqulSay
إِنinIf
كَانَkānahad
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmānithe Most Gracious
وَلَدٌۭwaladuna son
فَأَنَا۠fa-anāThen, I
أَوَّلُawwalu(would be the) first
ٱلْعَـٰبِدِينَl-ʿābidīna(of) the worshippers
٨١(81)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."

سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory be
رَبِّrabbi(to the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshi(of) the Throne
عَمَّاʿammāabove what
يَصِفُونَyaṣifūnathey ascribe
٨٢(82)
Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
Juz 25Page 495
فَذَرْهُمْfadharhumSo leave them
يَخُوضُوا۟yakhūḍū(to) converse vainly
وَيَلْعَبُوا۟wayalʿabūand play
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يُلَـٰقُوا۟yulāqūthey meet
يَوْمَهُمُyawmahumutheir Day
ٱلَّذِىalladhīwhich
يُوعَدُونَyūʿadūnathey are promised
٨٣(83)
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe heaven
إِلَـٰهٌۭilāhunGod
وَفِىwafīand in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
إِلَـٰهٌۭ ۚilāhunGod
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu(is) the All-Wise
ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
٨٤(84)
And it is He [i.e., Allāh] who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the Wise, the Knowing.
Juz 25Page 495
وَتَبَارَكَwatabārakaAnd blessed (is)
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
لَهُۥlahuto Whom
مُلْكُmul'ku(belongs the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
وَمَاwamāand whatever
بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between both of them
وَعِندَهُۥwaʿindahuand with Him
عِلْمُʿil'mu(is the) knowledge
ٱلسَّاعَةِl-sāʿati(of) the Hour
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
٨٥(85)
And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.

وَلَاwalāAnd not
يَمْلِكُyamlikuhave power
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
يَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invoke
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِdūnihibesides Him
ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَl-shafāʿata(for) the intercession
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَنmanwho
شَهِدَshahidatestifies
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqito the truth
وَهُمْwahumand they
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
٨٦(86)
And those they invoke besides Him do not possess [power of] intercession; but only those who testify to the truth [can benefit], and they know.
Juz 25Page 495
وَلَئِنwala-inAnd if
سَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahumyou ask them
مَّنْmanwho
خَلَقَهُمْkhalaqahumcreated them
لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnathey will certainly say
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuAllah
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāThen how
يُؤْفَكُونَyu'fakūnaare they deluded
٨٧(87)
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allāh." So how are they deluded?

وَقِيلِهِۦwaqīlihiAnd his saying
يَـٰرَبِّyārabbiO my Lord
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāithese
قَوْمٌۭqawmun(are) a people
لَّاlā(who do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
٨٨(88)
And [Allāh acknowledges] his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."

فَٱصْفَحْfa-iṣ'faḥSo turn away
عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
وَقُلْwaquland say
سَلَـٰمٌۭ ۚsalāmunPeace
فَسَوْفَfasawfaBut soon
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey will know
٨٩(89)
So turn aside from them and say, "Peace." But they are going to know.
