تَنزِيلُ
tanzīlu(The) revelation
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi(of) the Book
مِنَ
mina(is) from
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
ٱلْعَزِيزِ
l-ʿazīzithe All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمِ
l-ḥakīmithe All-Wise
٢
(2)
The revelation of the Book is from Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

مَا
Not
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnāWe created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
وَمَا
wamāand what
بَيْنَهُمَآ
baynahumā(is) between both of them
إِلَّا
illāexcept
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqiin truth
وَأَجَلٍۢ
wa-ajalinand (for) a term
مُّسَمًّۭى ۚ
musammanappointed
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīnaBut those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieve
عَمَّآ
ʿammāfrom what
أُنذِرُوا۟
undhirūthey are warned
مُعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna(are) turning away
٣
(3)
We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them except in truth and [for] a specified term. But those who disbelieve, from that of which they are warned, are turning away.

أَرَءَيْتُم
ara-aytumDo you see
مَّا
what
تَدْعُونَ
tadʿūnayou call
مِن
minbesides
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
أَرُونِى
arūnīShow me
مَاذَا
mādhāwhat
خَلَقُوا۟
khalaqūthey have created
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
أَمْ
amor
لَهُمْ
lahumfor them
شِرْكٌۭ
shir'kun(is) any share
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ ۖ
l-samāwātithe heavens
ٱئْتُونِى
i'tūnīBring me
بِكِتَـٰبٍۢ
bikitābina book
مِّن
minfrom
قَبْلِ
qablibefore
هَـٰذَآ
hādhāthis
أَوْ
awor
أَثَـٰرَةٍۢ
athāratina trace
مِّنْ
minof
عِلْمٍ
ʿil'minknowledge
إِن
inif
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīnatruthful
٤
(4)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Have you considered that which you invoke besides Allāh? Show me what they have created of the earth; or did they have partnership in [creation of] the heavens? Bring me a scripture [revealed] before this or a [remaining] trace of knowledge, if you should be truthful."

وَمَنْ
wamanAnd who
أَضَلُّ
aḍallu(is) more astray
مِمَّن
mimmanthan (he) who
يَدْعُوا۟
yadʿūcalls
مِن
minbesides
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
مَن
manwho
لَّا
will not respond
يَسْتَجِيبُ
yastajībuwill not respond
لَهُۥٓ
lahuto him
إِلَىٰ
ilāuntil
يَوْمِ
yawmi(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati(of) Resurrection
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
عَن
ʿanof
دُعَآئِهِمْ
duʿāihimtheir calls
غَـٰفِلُونَ
ghāfilūna(are) unaware
٥
(5)
And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allāh those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection [i.e., never], and they, of their invocation, are unaware.

وَإِذَا
wa-idhāAnd when
حُشِرَ
ḥushiraare gathered
ٱلنَّاسُ
l-nāsuthe people
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey will be
لَهُمْ
lahumfor them
أَعْدَآءًۭ
aʿdāanenemies
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānūand they will be
بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ
biʿibādatihimof their worship
كَـٰفِرِينَ
kāfirīnadeniers
٦
(6)
And when the people are gathered [that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of their worship.

وَإِذَا
wa-idhāAnd when
تُتْلَىٰ
tut'lāare recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimto them
ءَايَـٰتُنَا
āyātunāOur Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ
bayyinātinclear
قَالَ
qālasay
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieve
لِلْحَقِّ
lil'ḥaqqiof the truth
لَمَّا
lammāwhen
جَآءَهُمْ
jāahumit comes to them
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
سِحْرٌۭ
siḥ'run(is) a magic
مُّبِينٌ
mubīnunclear
٧
(7)
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is obvious magic."

أَمْ
amOr
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūnathey say
ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۖ
if'tarāhuHe has invented it
قُلْ
qulSay
إِنِ
iniIf
ٱفْتَرَيْتُهُۥ
if'taraytuhuI have invented it
فَلَا
falāthen not
تَمْلِكُونَ
tamlikūnayou have power
لِى
for me
مِنَ
minaagainst
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
شَيْـًٔا ۖ
shayananything
هُوَ
huwaHe
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamuknows best
بِمَا
bimāof what
تُفِيضُونَ
tufīḍūnayou utter
فِيهِ ۖ
fīhiconcerning it
كَفَىٰ
kafāSufficient is He
بِهِۦ
bihiSufficient is He
شَهِيدًۢا
shahīdan(as) a Witness
بَيْنِى
baynībetween me
وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۖ
wabaynakumand between you
وَهُوَ
wahuwaand He
ٱلْغَفُورُ
l-ghafūru(is) the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
l-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
٨
(8)
Or do they say, "He has invented it"? Say, "If I have invented it, you will not possess for me [the power of protection] from Allāh at all. He is most knowing of that in which you are involved. Sufficient is He as Witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

مِّنَ

ٱلرُّسُلِ
l-rusulithe Messengers
وَمَآ
wamāand not
أَدْرِى
adrīI know
مَا
what
يُفْعَلُ
yuf'ʿaluwill be done
بِى
with me
وَلَا
walāand not
بِكُمْ ۖ
bikumwith you
إِنْ
inNot
أَتَّبِعُ
attabiʿuI follow
إِلَّا
illābut
مَا
what
يُوحَىٰٓ
yūḥāis revealed
إِلَىَّ
ilayyato me
وَمَآ
wamāand not
أَنَا۠
anāI am
إِلَّا
illābut
نَذِيرٌۭ
nadhīruna warner
مُّبِينٌۭ
mubīnunclear
٩
(9)
Say, "I am not something new among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am not but a clear warner."

قُلْ
qulSay
أَرَءَيْتُمْ
ara-aytumDo you see
إِن
inif
كَانَ
kānait is
مِنْ
minfrom Allah
عِندِ
ʿindifrom Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahifrom Allah
وَكَفَرْتُم
wakafartumand you disbelieve
بِهِۦ
bihiin it
وَشَهِدَ
washahidaand testifies
شَاهِدٌۭ
shāhiduna witness
مِّنۢ
minfrom
بَنِىٓ
banī(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
is'rāīla(the) Children of Israel
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāto
مِثْلِهِۦ
mith'lihi(the) like thereof
فَـَٔامَنَ
faāmanathen he believed
وَٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ ۖ
wa-is'takbartumwhile you are arrogant
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
لَا
(does) not
يَهْدِى
yahdīguide
ٱلْقَوْمَ
l-qawmathe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
١٠
(10)
Say, "Have you considered: if it [i.e., the Qur’ān] was from Allāh, and you disbelieved in it while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar and believed while you were arrogant...?" Indeed, Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.

وَقَالَ
waqālaAnd say
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieve
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīnaof those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanūbelieve
لَوْ
lawIf
كَانَ
kānait had been
خَيْرًۭا
khayrangood
مَّا
not
سَبَقُونَآ
sabaqūnāthey (would) have preceded us
إِلَيْهِ ۚ
ilayhito it
وَإِذْ
wa-idhAnd when
لَمْ
lamnot
يَهْتَدُوا۟
yahtadūthey (are) guided
بِهِۦ
bihiby it
فَسَيَقُولُونَ
fasayaqūlūnathey say
هَـٰذَآ
hādhāThis
إِفْكٌۭ
if'kun(is) a lie
قَدِيمٌۭ
qadīmunancient
١١
(11)
And those who disbelieve say of those who believe, "If it had [truly] been good, they would not have preceded us to it." And when they are not guided by it, they will say, "This is an ancient falsehood."

وَمِن
waminAnd before it
قَبْلِهِۦ
qablihiAnd before it
كِتَـٰبُ
kitābu(was the) Scripture
مُوسَىٰٓ
mūsā(of) Musa
إِمَامًۭا
imāman(as) a guide
وَرَحْمَةًۭ ۚ
waraḥmatanand a mercy
وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhāAnd this
كِتَـٰبٌۭ
kitābun(is) a Book
مُّصَدِّقٌۭ
muṣaddiqunconfirming
لِّسَانًا
lisānan(in) language
عَرَبِيًّۭا
ʿarabiyyanArabic
لِّيُنذِرَ
liyundhirato warn
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
ظَلَمُوا۟
ẓalamūdo wrong
وَبُشْرَىٰ
wabush'rāand (as) glad tidings
لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ
lil'muḥ'sinīnafor the good-doers
١٢
(12)
And before it was the scripture of Moses to lead and as a mercy. And this is a confirming Book in an Arabic tongue to warn those who have wronged and as good tidings to the doers of good.

إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
قَالُوا۟
qālūsay
رَبُّنَا
rabbunāOur Lord
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu(is) Allah
ثُمَّ
thummathen
ٱسْتَقَـٰمُوا۟
is'taqāmūremain firm
فَلَا
falāthen no
خَوْفٌ
khawfunfear
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimon them
وَلَا
walāand not
هُمْ
humthey
يَحْزَنُونَ
yaḥzanūnawill grieve
١٣
(13)
Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allāh," and then remained on a right course - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikaThose
أَصْحَـٰبُ
aṣḥābu(are the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ
l-janati(of) Paradise
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīnaabiding forever
فِيهَا
fīhātherein
جَزَآءًۢ
jazāana reward
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnado
١٤
(14)
Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding eternally therein as reward for what they used to do.

وَوَصَّيْنَا
wawaṣṣaynāAnd We have enjoined
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ
l-insāna(on) man
بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ
biwālidayhito his parents
إِحْسَـٰنًا ۖ
iḥ'sānankindness
حَمَلَتْهُ
ḥamalathuCarried him
أُمُّهُۥ
ummuhuhis mother
كُرْهًۭا
kur'han(with) hardship
وَوَضَعَتْهُ
wawaḍaʿathuand gave birth to him
كُرْهًۭا ۖ
kur'han(with) hardship
وَحَمْلُهُۥ
waḥamluhuAnd (the) bearing of him
وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥ
wafiṣāluhuand (the) weaning of him
ثَلَـٰثُونَ
thalāthūna(is) thirty
شَهْرًا ۚ
shahranmonth(s)
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāuntil
إِذَا
idhāwhen
بَلَغَ
balaghahe reaches
أَشُدَّهُۥ
ashuddahuhis maturity
وَبَلَغَ
wabalaghaand reaches
أَرْبَعِينَ
arbaʿīnaforty
سَنَةًۭ
sanatanyear(s)
قَالَ
qālahe says
رَبِّ
rabbiMy Lord
أَوْزِعْنِىٓ
awziʿ'nīgrant me (the) power
أَنْ
anthat
أَشْكُرَ
ashkuraI may be grateful
نِعْمَتَكَ
niʿ'mataka(for) Your favor
ٱلَّتِىٓ
allatīwhich
أَنْعَمْتَ
anʿamtaYou have bestowed
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayyaupon me
وَعَلَىٰ
waʿalāand upon
وَٰلِدَىَّ
wālidayyamy parents
وَأَنْ
wa-anand that
أَعْمَلَ
aʿmalaI do
صَـٰلِحًۭا
ṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)
تَرْضَىٰهُ
tarḍāhuwhich please You
وَأَصْلِحْ
wa-aṣliḥand make righteous
لِى
for me
فِى
among
ذُرِّيَّتِىٓ ۖ
dhurriyyatīmy offspring
إِنِّى
innīindeed
تُبْتُ
tub'tuI turn
إِلَيْكَ
ilaykato You
وَإِنِّى
wa-innīand indeed, I am
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
l-mus'limīnathose who submit
١٥
(15)
And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(are) the ones
نَتَقَبَّلُ
nataqabbaluWe will accept
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhumfrom them
أَحْسَنَ
aḥsana(the) best
مَا
(of) what
عَمِلُوا۟
ʿamilūthey did
وَنَتَجَاوَزُ
wanatajāwazuand We will overlook
عَن
ʿan[from]
سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ
sayyiātihimtheir evil deeds
فِىٓ
among
أَصْحَـٰبِ
aṣḥābi(the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ
l-janati(of) Paradise
وَعْدَ
waʿdaA promise
ٱلصِّدْقِ
l-ṣid'qitrue
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīwhich
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey were
يُوعَدُونَ
yūʿadūnapromised
١٦
(16)
Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, [their being] among the companions of Paradise. [That is] the promise of truth which they had been promised.

وَٱلَّذِى
wa-alladhīBut the one who
قَالَ
qālasays
لِوَٰلِدَيْهِ
liwālidayhito his parents
أُفٍّۢ
uffinUff
لَّكُمَآ
lakumāto both of you
أَتَعِدَانِنِىٓ
ataʿidāninīDo you promise me
أَنْ
anthat
أُخْرَجَ
ukh'rajaI will be brought forth
وَقَدْ
waqadand have already passed away
خَلَتِ
khalatiand have already passed away
ٱلْقُرُونُ
l-qurūnuthe generations
مِن
minbefore me
قَبْلِى
qablībefore me
وَهُمَا
wahumāAnd they both
يَسْتَغِيثَانِ
yastaghīthāniseek help
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha(of) Allah
وَيْلَكَ
waylakaWoe to you
ءَامِنْ
āminBelieve
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
وَعْدَ
waʿda(the) Promise
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
حَقٌّۭ
ḥaqqun(is) true
فَيَقُولُ
fayaqūluBut he says
مَا
Not
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā(is) this
إِلَّآ
illābut
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
asāṭīru(the) stories
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna(of) the former (people)
١٧
(17)
But one who says to his parents, "Uff to you; do you promise me that I will be brought forth [from the earth] when generations before me have already passed on [into oblivion]?" while they call to Allāh for help [and to their son], "Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, the promise of Allāh is truth." But he says, "This is not but legends of the former peoples" -

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(are) the ones
حَقَّ
ḥaqqa(has) proved true
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimuagainst them
ٱلْقَوْلُ
l-qawluthe word
فِىٓ
among
أُمَمٍۢ
umaminnations
قَدْ
qad(that) already passed away
خَلَتْ
khalat(that) already passed away
مِن
minbefore them
قَبْلِهِم
qablihimbefore them
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلْجِنِّ
l-jini(the) jinn
وَٱلْإِنسِ ۖ
wal-insiand the men
إِنَّهُمْ
innahumIndeed, they
كَانُوا۟
kānūare
خَـٰسِرِينَ
khāsirīna(the) losers
١٨
(18)
Those are the ones upon whom the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect, [who will be] among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers.

وَلِكُلٍّۢ
walikullinAnd for all
دَرَجَـٰتٌۭ
darajātun(are) degrees
مِّمَّا
mimmāfor what
عَمِلُوا۟ ۖ
ʿamilūthey did
وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ
waliyuwaffiyahumand that He may fully compensate them
أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ
aʿmālahum(for) their deeds
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
لَا
will not be wronged
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūnawill not be wronged
١٩
(19)
And for all there are degrees [of reward and punishment] for what they have done, and [it is] so that He may fully compensate them for their deeds, and they will not be wronged.

وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaAnd (the) Day
يُعْرَضُ
yuʿ'raḍuwill be exposed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
عَلَى
ʿalāto
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nārithe Fire
أَذْهَبْتُمْ
adhhabtumYou exhausted
طَيِّبَـٰتِكُمْ
ṭayyibātikumyour good things
فِى
in
حَيَاتِكُمُ
ḥayātikumuyour life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā(of) the world
وَٱسْتَمْتَعْتُم
wa-is'tamtaʿtumand you took your pleasures
بِهَا
bihātherein
فَٱلْيَوْمَ
fal-yawmaSo today
تُجْزَوْنَ
tuj'zawnayou will be recompensed
عَذَابَ
ʿadhāba(with) a punishment
ٱلْهُونِ
l-hūnihumiliating
بِمَا
bimābecause
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou were
تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
tastakbirūnaarrogant
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
بِغَيْرِ
bighayriwithout
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqi[the] right
وَبِمَا
wabimāand because
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou were
تَفْسُقُونَ
tafsuqūnadefiantly disobedient
٢٠
(20)
And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "You exhausted your pleasures during your worldly life and enjoyed them, so this Day you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation because you were arrogant upon the earth without right and because you were defiantly disobedient."

۞ وَٱذْكُرْ
wa-udh'kurAnd mention
أَخَا
akhā(the) brother
عَادٍ
ʿādin(of) Aad
إِذْ
idhwhen
أَنذَرَ
andharahe warned
قَوْمَهُۥ
qawmahuhis people
بِٱلْأَحْقَافِ
bil-aḥqāfiin the Al-Ahqaf
وَقَدْ
waqadand had already passed away
خَلَتِ
khalatiand had already passed away
ٱلنُّذُرُ
l-nudhuru[the] warners
مِنۢ
minbefore him
بَيْنِ
baynibefore him
يَدَيْهِ
yadayhibefore him
وَمِنْ
waminand after him
خَلْفِهِۦٓ
khalfihiand after him
أَلَّا
allāThat not
تَعْبُدُوٓا۟
taʿbudūyou worship
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
إِنِّىٓ
innīIndeed, I
أَخَافُ
akhāfu[I] fear
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykumfor you
عَذَابَ
ʿadhābaa punishment
يَوْمٍ
yawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍۢ
ʿaẓīminGreat
٢١
(21)
And mention, [O Muḥammad], the brother of ʿAad, when he warned his people in [the region of] al-Aḥqāf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except Allāh. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

قَالُوٓا۟
qālūThey said
أَجِئْتَنَا
aji'tanāHave you come to us
لِتَأْفِكَنَا
litafikanāto turn us away
عَنْ
ʿanfrom
ءَالِهَتِنَا
ālihatināour gods
فَأْتِنَا
fatināThen bring us
بِمَا
bimāwhat
تَعِدُنَآ
taʿidunāyou threaten us
إِن
inif
كُنتَ
kuntayou are
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
l-ṣādiqīnathe truthful
٢٢
(22)
They said, "Have you come to delude us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful."

قَالَ
qālaHe said
إِنَّمَا
innamāOnly
ٱلْعِلْمُ
l-ʿil'muthe knowledge
عِندَ
ʿinda(is) with Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(is) with Allah
وَأُبَلِّغُكُم
wa-uballighukumand I convey to you
مَّآ
what
أُرْسِلْتُ
ur'sil'tuI am sent
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
وَلَـٰكِنِّىٓ
walākinnībut
أَرَىٰكُمْ
arākumI see you
قَوْمًۭا
qawmana people
تَجْهَلُونَ
tajhalūnaignorant
٢٣
(23)
He said, "Knowledge [of its time] is only with Allāh, and I convey to you that with which I was sent; but I see you [to be] a people behaving ignorantly."

فَلَمَّا
falammāThen when
رَأَوْهُ
ra-awhuthey saw it
عَارِضًۭا
ʿāriḍan(as) a cloud
مُّسْتَقْبِلَ
mus'taqbilaapproaching
أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ
awdiyatihimtheir valleys
قَالُوا۟
qālūthey said
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
عَارِضٌۭ
ʿāriḍun(is) a cloud
مُّمْطِرُنَا ۚ
mum'ṭirunābringing us rain
بَلْ
balNay
هُوَ
huwait
مَا
(is) what
ٱسْتَعْجَلْتُم
is'taʿjaltumyou were asking it to be hastened
بِهِۦ ۖ
bihiyou were asking it to be hastened
رِيحٌۭ
rīḥuna wind
فِيهَا
fīhāin it
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌۭ
alīmunpainful
٢٤
(24)
And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient: a wind, within it a painful punishment,

تُدَمِّرُ
tudammiruDestroying
كُلَّ
kullaevery
شَىْءٍۭ
shayinthing
بِأَمْرِ
bi-amriby (the) command
رَبِّهَا
rabbihā(of) its Lord
فَأَصْبَحُوا۟
fa-aṣbaḥūThen they became (such)
لَا
not
يُرَىٰٓ
yurāis seen
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مَسَـٰكِنُهُمْ ۚ
masākinuhumtheir dwellings
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālikaThus
نَجْزِى
najzīWe recompense
ٱلْقَوْمَ
l-qawmathe people
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīna[the] criminals
٢٥
(25)
Destroying everything by command of its Lord. And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd certainly
مَكَّنَّـٰهُمْ
makkannāhumWe had established them
فِيمَآ
fīmāin what
إِن
innot
مَّكَّنَّـٰكُمْ
makkannākumWe have established you
فِيهِ
fīhiin it
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnāand We made
لَهُمْ
lahumfor them
سَمْعًۭا
samʿanhearing
وَأَبْصَـٰرًۭا
wa-abṣāranand vision
وَأَفْـِٔدَةًۭ
wa-afidatanand hearts
فَمَآ
famāBut not
أَغْنَىٰ
aghnāavailed
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhumthem
سَمْعُهُمْ
samʿuhumtheir hearing
وَلَآ
walāand not
أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ
abṣāruhumtheir vision
وَلَآ
walāand not
أَفْـِٔدَتُهُم
afidatuhumtheir hearts
مِّن
minany
شَىْءٍ
shayinthing
إِذْ
idhwhen
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey were
يَجْحَدُونَ
yajḥadūnarejecting
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
وَحَاقَ
waḥāqaand enveloped
بِهِم
bihimthem
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
بِهِۦ
bihi[at it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
yastahziūnaridicule
٢٦
(26)
And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were [continually] rejecting the signs of Allāh; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd certainly
أَهْلَكْنَا
ahlaknāWe destroyed
مَا
what
حَوْلَكُم
ḥawlakumsurrounds you
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلْقُرَىٰ
l-qurāthe towns
وَصَرَّفْنَا
waṣarrafnāand We have diversified
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyātithe Signs
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumthat they may
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūnareturn
٢٧
(27)
And We have already destroyed what surrounds you of [those] cities, and We have diversified the signs [or verses] that perhaps they might return [from disbelief].

فَلَوْلَا
falawlāThen why (did) not
نَصَرَهُمُ
naṣarahumuhelp them
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose whom
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟
ittakhadhūthey had taken
مِن
minbesides
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
قُرْبَانًا
qur'bānangods as a way of approach
ءَالِهَةًۢ ۖ
ālihatangods as a way of approach
بَلْ
balNay
ضَلُّوا۟
ḍallūthey were lost
عَنْهُمْ ۚ
ʿanhumfrom them
وَذَٰلِكَ
wadhālikaAnd that
إِفْكُهُمْ
if'kuhum(was) their falsehood
وَمَا
wamāand what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey were
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūnainventing
٢٨
(28)
Then why did those they took besides Allāh as deities by which to approach [Him] not aid them? But they had strayed [i.e., departed] from them. And that was their falsehood and what they were inventing.

وَإِذْ
wa-idhAnd when
صَرَفْنَآ
ṣarafnāWe directed
إِلَيْكَ
ilaykato you
نَفَرًۭا
nafarana party
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلْجِنِّ
l-jinithe jinn
يَسْتَمِعُونَ
yastamiʿūnalistening
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna(to) the Quran
فَلَمَّا
falammāAnd when
حَضَرُوهُ
ḥaḍarūhuthey attended it
قَالُوٓا۟
qālūthey said
أَنصِتُوا۟ ۖ
anṣitūListen quietly
فَلَمَّا
falammāAnd when
قُضِىَ
quḍiyait was concluded
وَلَّوْا۟
wallawthey turned back
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
قَوْمِهِم
qawmihimtheir people
مُّنذِرِينَ
mundhirīna(as) warners
٢٩
(29)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when We directed to you a few of the jinn, listening to the Qur’ān. And when they attended it, they said, "Listen attentively." And when it was concluded, they went back to their people as warners.

قَالُوا۟
qālūThey said
يَـٰقَوْمَنَآ
yāqawmanāO our people
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, we
سَمِعْنَا
samiʿ'nā[we] have heard
كِتَـٰبًا
kitābana Book
أُنزِلَ
unzilarevealed
مِنۢ
minafter
بَعْدِ
baʿdiafter
مُوسَىٰ
mūsāMusa
مُصَدِّقًۭا
muṣaddiqanconfirming
لِّمَا
limāwhat
بَيْنَ
bayna(was) before it
يَدَيْهِ
yadayhi(was) before it
يَهْدِىٓ
yahdīguiding
إِلَى
ilāto
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqithe truth
وَإِلَىٰ
wa-ilāand to
طَرِيقٍۢ
ṭarīqina Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
mus'taqīminStraight
٣٠
(30)
They said, "O our people, indeed we have heard a [recited] Book revealed after Moses confirming what was before it which guides to the truth and to a straight path.

يَـٰقَوْمَنَآ
yāqawmanāO our people
أَجِيبُوا۟
ajībūRespond
دَاعِىَ
dāʿiya(to the) caller
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
وَءَامِنُوا۟
waāminūand believe
بِهِۦ
bihiin him
يَغْفِرْ
yaghfirHe will forgive
لَكُم
lakumfor you
مِّن
minof
ذُنُوبِكُمْ
dhunūbikumyour sins
وَيُجِرْكُم
wayujir'kumand will protect you
مِّنْ
minfrom
عَذَابٍ
ʿadhābina punishment
أَلِيمٍۢ
alīminpainful
٣١
(31)
O our people, respond to the Caller [i.e., Messenger] of Allāh and believe in him; He [i.e., Allāh] will forgive for you your sins and protect you from a painful punishment.

وَمَن
wamanAnd whoever
لَّا
(does) not
يُجِبْ
yujibrespond
دَاعِىَ
dāʿiya(to the) caller
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
فَلَيْسَ
falaysathen not
بِمُعْجِزٍۢ
bimuʿ'jizinhe can escape
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
وَلَيْسَ
walaysaand not
لَهُۥ
lahufor him
مِن
minbesides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
dūnihibesides Him
أَوْلِيَآءُ ۚ
awliyāuprotectors
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikaThose
فِى
(are) in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ
ḍalālinerror
مُّبِينٍ
mubīninclear
٣٢
(32)
But he who does not respond to the Caller of Allāh will not cause failure [to Him] upon earth, and he will not have besides Him any protectors. Those are in manifest error."

أَوَلَمْ
awalamDo not
يَرَوْا۟
yarawthey see
أَنَّ
annathat
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
وَلَمْ
walamand (was) not
يَعْىَ
yaʿyatired
بِخَلْقِهِنَّ
bikhalqihinnaby their creation
بِقَـٰدِرٍ
biqādirin(is) able
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāto give life
أَن
anto give life
يُحْـِۧىَ
yuḥ'yiyato give life
ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ ۚ
l-mawtā(to) the dead
بَلَىٰٓ
balāYes
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuindeed He
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā(is) on
كُلِّ
kullievery
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinthing
قَدِيرٌۭ
qadīrunAll-Powerful
٣٣
(33)
Do they not see that Allāh, who created the heavens and earth and did not fail in their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Yes. Indeed, He is over all things competent.

وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaAnd (the) Day
يُعْرَضُ
yuʿ'raḍuare exposed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
عَلَى
ʿalāto
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nārithe Fire
أَلَيْسَ
alaysaIs not
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ
bil-ḥaqithe truth
قَالُوا۟
qālūThey will say
بَلَىٰ
balāYes
وَرَبِّنَا ۚ
warabbināby our Lord
قَالَ
qālaHe will say
فَذُوقُوا۟
fadhūqūThen taste
ٱلْعَذَابَ
l-ʿadhābathe punishment
بِمَا
bimābecause
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou used to
تَكْفُرُونَ
takfurūnadisbelieve
٣٤
(34)
And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will say, "Then taste the punishment for what you used to deny."

فَٱصْبِرْ
fa-iṣ'birSo be patient
كَمَا
kamāas
صَبَرَ
ṣabarahad patience
أُو۟لُوا۟
ulūthose of determination
ٱلْعَزْمِ
l-ʿazmithose of determination
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلرُّسُلِ
l-rusulithe Messengers
وَلَا
walāand (do) not
تَسْتَعْجِل
tastaʿjilseek to hasten
لَّهُمْ ۚ
lahumfor them
كَأَنَّهُمْ
ka-annahumAs if they had
يَوْمَ
yawma(the) Day
يَرَوْنَ
yarawnathey see
مَا
what
يُوعَدُونَ
yūʿadūnathey were promised
لَمْ
lamnot
يَلْبَثُوٓا۟
yalbathūremained
إِلَّا
illāexcept
سَاعَةًۭ
sāʿatanan hour
مِّن
minof
نَّهَارٍۭ ۚ
nahārina day
بَلَـٰغٌۭ ۚ
balāghunA notification
فَهَلْ
fahalBut will
يُهْلَكُ
yuh'laku(any) be destroyed
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱلْقَوْمُ
l-qawmuthe people
ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ
l-fāsiqūnathe defiantly disobedient
٣٥
(35)
So be patient, [O Muḥammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them. It will be - on the Day they see that which they are promised - as though they had not remained [in the world] except an hour of a day. [This is] notification. And will [any] be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people?
