ٱلْحَمْدُal-ḥamdu(All) the praises and thanks
لِلَّهِlillahi(be) to Allah
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand made
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِl-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]
وَٱلنُّورَ ۖwal-nūraand the light
ثُمَّthummaThen
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
بِرَبِّهِمْbirabbihimin their Lord
يَعْدِلُونَyaʿdilūnaequate others with Him
١(1)
[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Then those who disbelieve equate [others] with their Lord.

هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
خَلَقَكُمkhalaqakumcreated you
مِّنminfrom
طِينٍۢṭīninclay
ثُمَّthummathen
قَضَىٰٓqaḍāHe decreed
أَجَلًۭا ۖajalana term
وَأَجَلٌۭwa-ajalunand a term
مُّسَمًّىmusammanspecified
عِندَهُۥ ۖʿindahuwith Him
ثُمَّthummayet
أَنتُمْantumyou
تَمْتَرُونَtamtarūnadoubt
٢(2)
It is He who created you from clay and then decreed a term and a specified time [known] to Him; then [still] you are in dispute.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
فِىfīin
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَفِىwafīand in
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖl-arḍithe earth
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knows
سِرَّكُمْsirrakumyour secret
وَجَهْرَكُمْwajahrakumand what you make public
وَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand He knows
مَاmāwhat
تَكْسِبُونَtaksibūnayou earn
٣(3)
And He is Allāh, [the only deity] in the heavens and the earth. He knows your secret and what you make public, and He knows that which you earn.

وَمَاwamāAnd not
تَأْتِيهِمtatīhimcomes to them
مِّنْmin[of]
ءَايَةٍۢāyatinany sign
مِّنْminfrom
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lord
إِلَّاillābut
كَانُوا۟kānūthey are
عَنْهَاʿanhāfrom it
مُعْرِضِينَmuʿ'riḍīnaturning away
٤(4)
And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they turn away therefrom.

فَقَدْfaqadThen indeed
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūthey denied
بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqithe truth
لَمَّاlammāwhen
جَآءَهُمْ ۖjāahumit came to them
فَسَوْفَfasawfabut soon
يَأْتِيهِمْyatīhimwill come to them
أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟anbāunews
مَاmā(of) what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
بِهِۦbihi[at it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock
٥(5)
For they had denied the truth when it came to them, but there is going to reach them the news of what they used to ridicule.

أَلَمْalamDid not
يَرَوْا۟yarawthey see
كَمْkamhow many
أَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe destroyed
مِنminfrom
قَبْلِهِمqablihimbefore them
مِّنminof
قَرْنٍۢqarningenerations
مَّكَّنَّـٰهُمْmakkannāhumWe had established them
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
مَاmāwhat
لَمْlamnot
نُمَكِّنnumakkinWe (have) established
لَّكُمْlakumfor you
وَأَرْسَلْنَاwa-arsalnāAnd We sent
ٱلسَّمَآءَl-samāa(rain from) the sky
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimupon them
مِّدْرَارًۭاmid'rāranshowering abundantly
وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We made
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَl-anhārathe rivers
تَجْرِىtajrīflow
مِنminfrom
تَحْتِهِمْtaḥtihimunderneath them
فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمfa-ahlaknāhumThen We destroyed them
بِذُنُوبِهِمْbidhunūbihimfor their sins
وَأَنشَأْنَاwa-anshanāand We raised
مِنۢminfrom
بَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter them
قَرْنًاqarnangenerations
ءَاخَرِينَākharīnaother
٦(6)
Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [rain from] the sky upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them a generation of others.

وَلَوْwalawAnd (even) if
نَزَّلْنَاnazzalnāWe (had) sent down
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
كِتَـٰبًۭاkitābana written Scripture
فِىfīin
قِرْطَاسٍۢqir'ṭāsina parchment
فَلَمَسُوهُfalamasūhuand they touched it
بِأَيْدِيهِمْbi-aydīhimwith their hands
لَقَالَlaqālasurely (would) have said
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieved
إِنْinNot
هَـٰذَآhādhā(is) this
إِلَّاillābut
سِحْرٌۭsiḥ'runmagic
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear
٧(7)
And even if We had sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], a written scripture on a page and they touched it with their hands, the disbelievers would say, "This is not but obvious magic."

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they said
لَوْلَآlawlāWhy has not been
أُنزِلَunzilasent down
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito him
مَلَكٌۭ ۖmalakunan Angel
وَلَوْwalawAnd if
أَنزَلْنَاanzalnāWe (had) sent down
مَلَكًۭاmalakanan Angel
لَّقُضِىَlaquḍiyasurely (would) have been decided
ٱلْأَمْرُl-amruthe matter
ثُمَّthummathen
لَاlāno
يُنظَرُونَyunẓarūnarespite would have been granted to them
٨(8)
And they say, "Why was there not sent down to him an angel?" But if We had sent down an angel, the matter would have been decided; then they would not be reprieved.

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
جَعَلْنَـٰهُjaʿalnāhuWe had made him
مَلَكًۭاmalakanan Angel
لَّجَعَلْنَـٰهُlajaʿalnāhucertainly We (would) have made him
رَجُلًۭاrajulana man
وَلَلَبَسْنَاwalalabasnāand certainly We (would) have obscured
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimto them
مَّاmāwhat
يَلْبِسُونَyalbisūnathey are obscuring
٩(9)
And if We had made him [i.e., the messenger] an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that in which they cover themselves [i.e., confusion and doubt].

وَلَقَدِwalaqadiAnd indeed
ٱسْتُهْزِئَus'tuh'zi-awere mocked
بِرُسُلٍۢbirusulinMessengers
مِّنminfrom
قَبْلِكَqablikabefore you
فَحَاقَfaḥāqabut surrounded
بِٱلَّذِينَbi-alladhīnathose who
سَخِرُوا۟sakhirūscoffed
مِنْهُمmin'humof them
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
بِهِۦbihi[at it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock
١٠(10)
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by that which they used to ridicule.

قُلْqulSay
سِيرُوا۟sīrūTravel
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
ثُمَّthummaand
ٱنظُرُوا۟unẓurūsee
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīna(of) the rejecters
١١(11)
Say, "Travel through the land; then observe how was the end of the deniers."

قُلqulSay
لِّمَنlimanTo whom (belongs)
مَّاmāwhat
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖwal-arḍiand the earth
قُلqulSay
لِّلَّهِ ۚlillahiTo Allah
كَتَبَkatabaHe has decreed
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
نَفْسِهِnafsihiHimself
ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۚl-raḥmatathe Mercy
لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْlayajmaʿannakumSurely He will assemble you
إِلَىٰilāon
يَوْمِyawmi(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
لَاlā(there is) no
رَيْبَraybadoubt
فِيهِ ۚfīhiabout it
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
خَسِرُوٓا۟khasirūhave lost
أَنفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselves
فَهُمْfahumthen they
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
١٢(12)
Say, "To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?" Say, "To Allāh." He has decreed upon Himself mercy. He will surely assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Those who will lose themselves [that Day] do not believe.

۞ وَلَهُۥwalahuAnd for Him
مَاmā(is) whatever
سَكَنَsakanadwells
فِىfīin
ٱلَّيْلِal-laylithe night
وَٱلنَّهَارِ ۚwal-nahāriand the day
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
ٱلسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) All-Hearing
ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuAll-Knowing
١٣(13)
And to Him belongs that which reposes by night and by day, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

قُلْqulSay
أَغَيْرَaghayraIs it other than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
أَتَّخِذُattakhidhuI (should) take
وَلِيًّۭاwaliyyan(as) a protector
فَاطِرِfāṭiriCreator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
وَهُوَwahuwawhile (it is) He
يُطْعِمُyuṭ'ʿimuWho feeds
وَلَاwalāand not
يُطْعَمُ ۗyuṭ'ʿamuHe is fed
قُلْqulSay
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed I
أُمِرْتُumir'tu[I] am commanded
أَنْanthat
أَكُونَakūnaI be
أَوَّلَawwala(the) first
مَنْmanwho
أَسْلَمَ ۖaslamasubmits (to Allah)
وَلَاwalāand not
تَكُونَنَّtakūnannabe
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
١٤(14)
Say, "Is it other than Allāh I should take as a protector, Creator of the heavens and earth, while it is He who feeds and is not fed?" Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to be the first [among you] who submit [to Allāh] and [was commanded], 'Do not ever be of the polytheists.'"

قُلْqulSay
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَخَافُakhāfu[I] fear
إِنْinif
عَصَيْتُʿaṣaytuI disobeyed
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
عَذَابَʿadhābapunishment
يَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīminMighty
١٥(15)
Say, "Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."

مَّنmanWhoever
يُصْرَفْyuṣ'rafis averted
عَنْهُʿanhufrom it
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Day
فَقَدْfaqadthen surely
رَحِمَهُۥ ۚraḥimahuHe had Mercy on him
وَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaAnd that
ٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the success
ٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnu(the) clear
١٦(16)
He from whom it is averted that Day - [Allāh] has granted him mercy. And that is the clear attainment.
Juz 7Page 129
وَإِنwa-inAnd if
يَمْسَسْكَyamsaskatouches you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
بِضُرٍّۢbiḍurrinwith affliction
فَلَاfalāthen no
كَاشِفَkāshifaremover
لَهُۥٓlahuof it
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHim
وَإِنwa-inAnd if
يَمْسَسْكَyamsaskaHe touches you
بِخَيْرٍۢbikhayrinwith good
فَهُوَfahuwathen He
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
كُلِّkullievery
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
قَدِيرٌۭqadīrunAll-Powerful
١٧(17)
And if Allāh should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good - then He is over all things competent.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْقَاهِرُl-qāhiru(is) the Subjugator
فَوْقَfawqaover
عِبَادِهِۦ ۚʿibādihiHis slaves
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu(is) the All-Wise
ٱلْخَبِيرُl-khabīruthe All-Aware
١٨(18)
And He is the subjugator over His servants. And He is the Wise, the Aware.

قُلْqulSay
أَىُّayyuWhat
شَىْءٍshayinthing
أَكْبَرُakbaru(is) greatest
شَهَـٰدَةًۭ ۖshahādatan(as) a testimony
قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuAllah
شَهِيدٌۢshahīdun(is) Witness
بَيْنِىbaynībetween me
وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚwabaynakumand between you
وَأُوحِىَwaūḥiyaand has been revealed
إِلَىَّilayyato me
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
ٱلْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānu[the] Quran
لِأُنذِرَكُمli-undhirakumthat I may warn you
بِهِۦbihiwith it
وَمَنۢwamanand whoever
بَلَغَ ۚbalaghait reaches
أَئِنَّكُمْa-innakumDo you truly
لَتَشْهَدُونَlatashhadūnatestify
أَنَّannathat
مَعَmaʿawith
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ءَالِهَةًālihatan(there are) gods
أُخْرَىٰ ۚukh'rāother
قُلqulSay
لَّآlāNot
أَشْهَدُ ۚashhadu(do) I testify
قُلْqulSay
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
هُوَhuwaHe
إِلَـٰهٌۭilāhun(is) God
وَٰحِدٌۭwāḥidunOne
وَإِنَّنِىwa-innanīand indeed, I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭbarīonfree
مِّمَّاmimmāof what
تُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate (with Him)
١٩(19)
Say, "What thing is greatest in testimony?" Say, "Allāh is witness between me and you. And this Qur’ān was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches. Do you [truly] testify that with Allāh there are other deities?" Say, "I will not testify [with you]." Say, "Indeed, He is but one God, and indeed, I am free of what you associate [with Him]."

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose (to) whom
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُātaynāhumuWe have given them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
يَعْرِفُونَهُۥyaʿrifūnahuthey recognize him
كَمَاkamāas
يَعْرِفُونَyaʿrifūnathey recognize
أَبْنَآءَهُمُ ۘabnāahumutheir sons
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
خَسِرُوٓا۟khasirūlost
أَنفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselves
فَهُمْfahumthen they
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
٢٠(20)
Those to whom We have given the Scripture recognize it as they recognize their [own] sons. Those who will lose themselves [in the Hereafter] do not believe.

وَمَنْwamanAnd who
أَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنِmimmanithan (he) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰif'tarāinvents
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
كَذِبًاkadhibana lie
أَوْawor
كَذَّبَkadhabarejects
بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۗbiāyātihiHis Signs
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed
لَاlānot
يُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill be successful
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
٢١(21)
And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allāh a lie or denies His verses? Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.

وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Day
نَحْشُرُهُمْnaḥshuruhumWe will gather them
جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall
ثُمَّthummathen
نَقُولُnaqūluWe will say
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those who
أَشْرَكُوٓا۟ashrakūassociated others with Allah
أَيْنَaynaWhere (are)
شُرَكَآؤُكُمُshurakāukumuyour partners
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَزْعُمُونَtazʿumūnaclaim
٢٢(22)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], the Day We will gather them all together; then We will say to those who associated others with Allāh, "Where are your 'partners' that you used to claim [with Him]?"

ثُمَّthummaThen
لَمْlamnot
تَكُنtakunwill be
فِتْنَتُهُمْfit'natuhum(for) them a plea
إِلَّآillāexcept
أَنanthat
قَالُوا۟qālūthey say
وَٱللَّهِwal-lahiBy Allah
رَبِّنَاrabbināour Lord
مَاmānot
كُنَّاkunnāwe were
مُشْرِكِينَmush'rikīnathose who associated others (with Allah)
٢٣(23)
Then there will be no [excuse upon] examination except they will say, "By Allāh, our Lord, we were not those who associated."

ٱنظُرْunẓurLook
كَيْفَkayfahow
كَذَبُوا۟kadhabūthey lied
عَلَىٰٓʿalāagainst
أَنفُسِهِمْ ۚanfusihimthemselves
وَضَلَّwaḍallaAnd lost
عَنْهُمʿanhumfrom them
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
٢٤(24)
See how they will lie about themselves. And lost from them will be what they used to invent.

وَمِنْهُمwamin'humAnd among them
مَّنman(are those) who
يَسْتَمِعُyastamiʿulisten
إِلَيْكَ ۖilaykato you
وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnābut We have placed
عَلَىٰʿalāover
قُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir hearts
أَكِنَّةًakinnatancoverings
أَنanlest
يَفْقَهُوهُyafqahūhuthey understand it
وَفِىٓwafīand in
ءَاذَانِهِمْādhānihimtheir ears
وَقْرًۭا ۚwaqrandeafness
وَإِنwa-inAnd if
يَرَوْا۟yarawthey see
كُلَّkullaevery
ءَايَةٍۢāyatinsign
لَّاlānot
يُؤْمِنُوا۟yu'minūwill they believe
بِهَا ۚbihāin it
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāUntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
جَآءُوكَjāūkathey come to you
يُجَـٰدِلُونَكَyujādilūnakaand argue with you
يَقُولُyaqūlusay
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieved
إِنْinNot
هَـٰذَآhādhā(is) this
إِلَّآillābut
أَسَـٰطِيرُasāṭīru(the) tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)
٢٥(25)
And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. Even when they come to you arguing with you, those who disbelieve say, "This is not but legends of the former peoples."

وَهُمْwahumAnd they
يَنْهَوْنَyanhawnaforbid (others)
عَنْهُʿanhufrom it
وَيَنْـَٔوْنَwayanawnaand they keep away
عَنْهُ ۖʿanhufrom it
وَإِنwa-inAnd not
يُهْلِكُونَyuh'likūnathey destroy
إِلَّآillāexcept
أَنفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselves
وَمَاwamāand not
يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceive
٢٦(26)
And they prevent [others] from him and are [themselves] remote from him. And they do not destroy except themselves, but they perceive [it] not.

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
تَرَىٰٓtarāyou (could) see
إِذْidhwhen
وُقِفُوا۟wuqifūthey are made to stand
عَلَىʿalāby
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
فَقَالُوا۟faqālūthen they (will) say
يَـٰلَيْتَنَاyālaytanāOh! Would that we
نُرَدُّnuradduwere sent back
وَلَاwalāand not
نُكَذِّبَnukadhibawe would deny
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّنَاrabbinā(of) our Lord
وَنَكُونَwanakūnaand we would be
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
٢٧(27)
If you could but see when they are made to stand before the Fire and will say, "Oh, would that we could be returned [to life on earth] and not deny the signs of our Lord and be among the believers."

بَلْbalNay
بَدَاbadābecame manifest
لَهُمlahumfor them
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يُخْفُونَyukh'fūnaconceal
مِنminfrom
قَبْلُ ۖqablubefore
وَلَوْwalawAnd if
رُدُّوا۟ruddūthey were sent back
لَعَادُوا۟laʿādūcertainly they (would) return
لِمَاlimāto what
نُهُوا۟nuhūthey were forbidden
عَنْهُʿanhufrom it
وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumand indeed they
لَكَـٰذِبُونَlakādhibūnacertainly are liars
٢٨(28)
But what they concealed before has [now] appeared to them. And even if they were returned, they would return to that which they were forbidden; and indeed, they are liars.

وَقَالُوٓا۟waqālūAnd they said
إِنْinNot
هِىَhiyait (is)
إِلَّاillāexcept
حَيَاتُنَاḥayātunāour life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَمَاwamāand not
نَحْنُnaḥnuwe
بِمَبْعُوثِينَbimabʿūthīna(will be) resurrected
٢٩(29)
And they say, "There is none but our worldly life, and we will not be resurrected."

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
تَرَىٰٓtarāyou (could) see
إِذْidhwhen
وُقِفُوا۟wuqifūthey will be made to stand
عَلَىٰʿalābefore
رَبِّهِمْ ۚrabbihimtheir Lord
قَالَqālaHe (will) say
أَلَيْسَalaysaIs not
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚbil-ḥaqithe truth
قَالُوا۟qālūThey will say
بَلَىٰbalāYes
وَرَبِّنَا ۚwarabbināby our Lord
قَالَqālaHe (will) say
فَذُوقُوا۟fadhūqūSo taste
ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment
بِمَاbimābecause
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَكْفُرُونَtakfurūnadisbelieve
٣٠(30)
If you could but see when they will be made to stand before their Lord. He will say, "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will [then] say, "So taste the punishment for what you used to deny."

قَدْqadIndeed
خَسِرَkhasiraincurred loss
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdenied
بِلِقَآءِbiliqāiin (the) meeting
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahi(with) Allah
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
جَآءَتْهُمُjāathumucame to them
ٱلسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hour
بَغْتَةًۭbaghtatansuddenly
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
يَـٰحَسْرَتَنَاyāḥasratanāOh! Our regret
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَاmāwhat
فَرَّطْنَاfarraṭnāwe neglected
فِيهَاfīhāconcerning it
وَهُمْwahumwhile they
يَحْمِلُونَyaḥmilūnawill bear
أَوْزَارَهُمْawzārahumtheir burdens
عَلَىٰʿalāon
ظُهُورِهِمْ ۚẓuhūrihimtheir backs
أَلَاalāUnquestionably
سَآءَsāaEvil
مَاmā(is) what
يَزِرُونَyazirūnathey bear
٣١(31)
Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allāh, until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it [i.e., the Hour]," while they bear their burdens [i.e., sins] on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

وَمَاwamāAnd not
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُl-ḥayatu(is) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَآl-dun'yā(of) the world
إِلَّاillāexcept
لَعِبٌۭlaʿibuna play
وَلَهْوٌۭ ۖwalahwunand amusement
وَلَلدَّارُwalalddārubut the home
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُl-ākhiratu(of) the Hereafter
خَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) best
لِّلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those who
يَتَّقُونَ ۗyattaqūna(are) God conscious
أَفَلَاafalāThen not
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūna(will) you reason
٣٢(32)
And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allāh, so will you not reason?

قَدْqadIndeed
نَعْلَمُnaʿlamuWe know
إِنَّهُۥinnahuthat it
لَيَحْزُنُكَlayaḥzunukagrieves you
ٱلَّذِىalladhīwhat
يَقُولُونَ ۖyaqūlūnathey say
فَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumAnd indeed, they
لَاlā(do) not
يُكَذِّبُونَكَyukadhibūnakadeny you
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyātithe Verses
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
يَجْحَدُونَyajḥadūnathey reject
٣٣(33)
We know that you, [O Muḥammad], are saddened by what they say. And indeed, they do not call you untruthful, but it is the verses of Allāh that the wrongdoers reject.

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd surely
كُذِّبَتْkudhibatwere rejected
رُسُلٌۭrusulunMessengers
مِّنminfrom
قَبْلِكَqablikabefore you
فَصَبَرُوا۟faṣabarūbut they were patient
عَلَىٰʿalāover
مَاmāwhat
كُذِّبُوا۟kudhibūthey were rejected
وَأُوذُوا۟waūdhūand they were harmed
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
أَتَىٰهُمْatāhumcame to them
نَصْرُنَا ۚnaṣrunāOur help
وَلَاwalāAnd no
مُبَدِّلَmubaddilaone (can) alter
لِكَلِمَـٰتِlikalimāti(the) words
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
وَلَقَدْwalaqadand surely
جَآءَكَjāakahas come to you
مِنminof
نَّبَإِى۟naba-i(the) news
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīna(of) the Messengers
٣٤(34)
And certainly were messengers denied before you, but they were patient over the denial, and they were harmed until Our victory came to them. And none can alter the words [i.e., decrees] of Allāh. And there has certainly come to you some information about the [previous] messengers.

وَإِنwa-inAnd if
كَانَkānais
كَبُرَkaburadifficult
عَلَيْكَʿalaykafor you
إِعْرَاضُهُمْiʿ'rāḍuhumtheir aversion
فَإِنِfa-inithen if
ٱسْتَطَعْتَis'taṭaʿtayou are able
أَنanto
تَبْتَغِىَtabtaghiyaseek
نَفَقًۭاnafaqana tunnel
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
أَوْawor
سُلَّمًۭاsullamana ladder
فِىfīinto
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
فَتَأْتِيَهُمfatatiyahumso that you bring to them
بِـَٔايَةٍۢ ۚbiāyatina Sign
وَلَوْwalawBut if
شَآءَshāa(had) willed
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
لَجَمَعَهُمْlajamaʿahumsurely He (would) have gathered them
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلْهُدَىٰ ۚl-hudāthe guidance
فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
تَكُونَنَّtakūnannabe
مِنَminaof
ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَl-jāhilīnathe ignorant
٣٥(35)
And if their evasion is difficult for you, then if you are able to seek a tunnel into the earth or a stairway into the sky to bring them a sign, [then do so]. But if Allāh had willed, He would have united them upon guidance. So never be of the ignorant.

۞ إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
يَسْتَجِيبُyastajīburespond
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَسْمَعُونَ ۘyasmaʿūnalisten
وَٱلْمَوْتَىٰwal-mawtāBut the dead
يَبْعَثُهُمُyabʿathuhumuwill resurrect them
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
ثُمَّthummathen
إِلَيْهِilayhito Him
يُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnathey will be returned
٣٦(36)
Only those who hear will respond. But the dead - Allāh will resurrect them; then to Him they will be returned.

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they said
لَوْلَاlawlāWhy (is) not
نُزِّلَnuzzilasent down
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito him
ءَايَةٌۭāyatuna Sign
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّهِۦ ۚrabbihihis Lord
قُلْqulSay
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
قَادِرٌqādirun(is) Able
عَلَىٰٓʿalā[on]
أَنanto
يُنَزِّلَyunazzilasend down
ءَايَةًۭāyatana Sign
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabut
أَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of them
لَاlā(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
٣٧(37)
And they say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Indeed, Allāh is Able to send down a sign, but most of them do not know."

وَمَاwamāAnd not
مِنmin[of]
دَآبَّةٍۢdābbatinany animal
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
وَلَاwalāand not
طَـٰٓئِرٍۢṭāirina bird
يَطِيرُyaṭīru(that) flies
بِجَنَاحَيْهِbijanāḥayhiwith its wings
إِلَّآillābut
أُمَمٌumamun(are) communities
أَمْثَالُكُم ۚamthālukumlike you
مَّاmāNot
فَرَّطْنَاfarraṭnāWe have neglected
فِىfīin
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Book
مِنmin[of]
شَىْءٍۢ ۚshayinanything
ثُمَّthummathen
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
يُحْشَرُونَyuḥ'sharūnathey will be gathered
٣٨(38)
And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a thing. Then unto their Lord they will be gathered.

وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūrejected
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināOur Verses
صُمٌّۭṣummun(are) deaf
وَبُكْمٌۭwabuk'munand dumb
فِىfīin
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ ۗl-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]
مَنmanWhoever
يَشَإِyasha-iwills
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
يُضْلِلْهُyuḍ'lil'huHe lets him go astray
وَمَنwamanand whoever
يَشَأْyashaHe wills
يَجْعَلْهُyajʿalhuHe places him
عَلَىٰʿalāon
صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭin(the) way
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīmin(the) straight
٣٩(39)
But those who deny Our verses are deaf and dumb within darknesses. Whomever Allāh wills - He sends astray; and whomever He wills - He puts him on a straight path.

قُلْqulSay
أَرَءَيْتَكُمْara-aytakumHave you seen
إِنْinif
أَتَىٰكُمْatākum(there) came to you
عَذَابُʿadhābupunishment
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
أَوْawor
أَتَتْكُمُatatkumu(there) came to you
ٱلسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hour
أَغَيْرَaghayrais it other
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(than) Allah
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou call
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
٤٠(40)
Say, "Have you considered: if there came to you the punishment of Allāh or there came to you the Hour - is it other than Allāh you would invoke, if you should be truthful?"

بَلْbalNay
إِيَّاهُiyyāhuHim Alone
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou call
فَيَكْشِفُfayakshifuand He would remove
مَاmāwhat
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou call
إِلَيْهِilayhiupon Him
إِنinif
شَآءَshāaHe wills
وَتَنسَوْنَwatansawnaand you will forget
مَاmāwhat
تُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate (with Him)
٤١(41)
No, it is Him [alone] you would invoke, and He would remove that for which you invoked Him if He willed, and you would forget what you associate [with Him].

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
أَرْسَلْنَآarsalnāWe sent (Messengers)
إِلَىٰٓilāto
أُمَمٍۢumaminnations
مِّنminfrom
قَبْلِكَqablikabefore you
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمfa-akhadhnāhumthen We seized them
بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِbil-basāiwith adversity
وَٱلضَّرَّآءِwal-ḍarāiand hardship
لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَتَضَرَّعُونَyataḍarraʿūnahumble themselves
٤٢(42)
And We have already sent [messengers] to nations before you, [O Muḥammad]; then We seized them with poverty and hardship that perhaps they might humble themselves [to Us].

فَلَوْلَآfalawlāThen why not
إِذْidhwhen
جَآءَهُمjāahumcame to them
بَأْسُنَاbasunāOur punishment
تَضَرَّعُوا۟taḍarraʿūthey humbled themselves
وَلَـٰكِنwalākinBut
قَسَتْqasatbecame hardened
قُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir hearts
وَزَيَّنَwazayyanaand made fair-seeming
لَهُمُlahumuto them
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan
مَاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
٤٣(43)
Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing.

فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
نَسُوا۟nasūthey forgot
مَاmāwhat
ذُكِّرُوا۟dhukkirūthey were reminded
بِهِۦbihiof [it]
فَتَحْنَاfataḥnāWe opened
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon them
أَبْوَٰبَabwābagates
كُلِّkulli(of) every
شَىْءٍshayinthing
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
فَرِحُوا۟fariḥūthey rejoiced
بِمَآbimāin what
أُوتُوٓا۟ūtūthey were given
أَخَذْنَـٰهُمakhadhnāhumWe seized them
بَغْتَةًۭbaghtatansuddenly
فَإِذَاfa-idhāand then
هُمhumthey
مُّبْلِسُونَmub'lisūna(were) dumbfounded
٤٤(44)
So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair.

فَقُطِعَfaquṭiʿaSo was cut off
دَابِرُdābiru(the) remnant
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmi(of) the people
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna[those] who
ظَلَمُوا۟ ۚẓalamūdid wrong
وَٱلْحَمْدُwal-ḥamduAnd all praises and thanks
لِلَّهِlillahi(be) to Allah
رَبِّrabbiLord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٤٥(45)
So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.

قُلْqulSay
أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumHave you seen
إِنْinif
أَخَذَakhadhatook away
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
سَمْعَكُمْsamʿakumyour hearing
وَأَبْصَـٰرَكُمْwa-abṣārakumand your sight
وَخَتَمَwakhatamaand sealed
عَلَىٰʿalā[on]
قُلُوبِكُمqulūbikumyour hearts
مَّنْmanwho
إِلَـٰهٌilāhun(is the) god
غَيْرُghayruother than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
يَأْتِيكُمyatīkumto bring [back] to you
بِهِ ۗbihiwith it
ٱنظُرْunẓurSee
كَيْفَkayfahow
نُصَرِّفُnuṣarrifuWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Signs
ثُمَّthummayet
هُمْhumthey
يَصْدِفُونَyaṣdifūnaturn away
٤٦(46)
Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should take away your hearing and your sight and set a seal upon your hearts, which deity other than Allāh could bring them [back] to you?" Look how We diversify the verses; then they [still] turn away.

قُلْqulSay
أَرَءَيْتَكُمْara-aytakumHave you seen
إِنْinif
أَتَىٰكُمْatākumcomes to you
عَذَابُʿadhābupunishment
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
بَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenly
أَوْawor
جَهْرَةًjahratanopenly
هَلْhalwill
يُهْلَكُyuh'laku(any) be destroyed
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلْقَوْمُl-qawmuthe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
٤٧(47)
Say, "Have you considered: if the punishment of Allāh should come to you unexpectedly or manifestly, will any be destroyed but the wrongdoing people?"

وَمَاwamāAnd not
نُرْسِلُnur'siluWe send
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers
إِلَّاillāexcept
مُبَشِّرِينَmubashirīna(as) bearer of glad tidings
وَمُنذِرِينَ ۖwamundhirīnaand (as) warners
فَمَنْfamanSo whoever
ءَامَنَāmanabelieved
وَأَصْلَحَwa-aṣlaḥaand reformed
فَلَاfalāthen no
خَوْفٌkhawfunfear
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon them
وَلَاwalāand not
هُمْhumthey
يَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve
٤٨(48)
And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. So whoever believes and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdenied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātinā[in] Our Verses
يَمَسُّهُمُyamassuhumuwill touch them
ٱلْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishment
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَفْسُقُونَyafsuqūnadefiantly disobey
٤٩(49)
But those who deny Our verses - the punishment will touch them for their defiant disobedience.

قُلqulSay
لَّآlāNot
أَقُولُaqūlu(do) I say
لَكُمْlakumto you
عِندِىʿindī(that) with me
خَزَآئِنُkhazāinu(are the) treasures
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَلَآwalāand not
أَعْلَمُaʿlamu(that) I know
ٱلْغَيْبَl-ghaybathe unseen
وَلَآwalāand not
أَقُولُaqūluI say
لَكُمْlakumto you
إِنِّىinnīthat I (am)
مَلَكٌ ۖmalakunan Angel
إِنْinNot
أَتَّبِعُattabiʿu(do) I follow
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat
يُوحَىٰٓyūḥāis revealed
إِلَىَّ ۚilayyato me
قُلْqulSay
هَلْhalCan
يَسْتَوِىyastawībe equal
ٱلْأَعْمَىٰl-aʿmāthe blind
وَٱلْبَصِيرُ ۚwal-baṣīruand the seeing one
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَتَفَكَّرُونَtatafakkarūnayou give thought
٥٠(50)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allāh or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me." Say, "Is the blind equivalent to the seeing? Then will you not give thought?"

وَأَنذِرْwa-andhirAnd warn
بِهِbihiwith it
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَخَافُونَyakhāfūnafear
أَنanthat
يُحْشَرُوٓا۟yuḥ'sharūthey will be gathered
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّهِمْ ۙrabbihimtheir Lord
لَيْسَlaysanot
لَهُمlahumfor them
مِّنminof
دُونِهِۦdūnihiother than Him
وَلِىٌّۭwaliyyunany protector
وَلَاwalāand not
شَفِيعٌۭshafīʿunany intercessor
لَّعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَتَّقُونَyattaqūna(become) righteous
٥١(51)
And warn by it [i.e., the Qur’ān] those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord - for them besides Him will be no protector and no intercessor - that they might become righteous.

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَطْرُدِtaṭrudisend away
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَدْعُونَyadʿūnacall
رَبَّهُمrabbahumtheir Lord
بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِbil-ghadatiin the morning
وَٱلْعَشِىِّwal-ʿashiyiand the evening
يُرِيدُونَyurīdūnadesiring
وَجْهَهُۥ ۖwajhahuHis Countenance
مَاmāNot
عَلَيْكَʿalayka(is) on you
مِنْminof
حِسَابِهِمḥisābihimtheir account
مِّنmin[of]
شَىْءٍۢshayinanything
وَمَاwamāand not
مِنْminfrom
حِسَابِكَḥisābikayour account
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimon them
مِّنmin[of]
شَىْءٍۢshayinanything
فَتَطْرُدَهُمْfataṭrudahumSo were you to send them away
فَتَكُونَfatakūnathen you would be
مِنَminaof
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٥٢(52)
And do not send away those who call upon their Lord morning and afternoon, seeking His face [i.e., favor]. Not upon you is anything of their account and not upon them is anything of your account. So were you to send them away, you would [then] be of the wrongdoers.

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
فَتَنَّاfatannāWe try
بَعْضَهُمbaʿḍahumsome of them
بِبَعْضٍۢbibaʿḍinwith others
لِّيَقُولُوٓا۟liyaqūlūthat they say
أَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِahāulāiAre these
مَنَّmanna(whom has been) favored
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhim[upon them]
مِّنۢminfrom
بَيْنِنَآ ۗbaynināamong us
أَلَيْسَalaysais not
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
بِأَعْلَمَbi-aʿlamamost knowing
بِٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَbil-shākirīnaof those who are grateful
٥٣(53)
And thus We have tried some of them through others that they [i.e., the disbelievers] might say, "Is it these whom Allāh has favored among us?" Is not Allāh most knowing of those who are grateful?

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
جَآءَكَjāakacome to you
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināin Our Verses
فَقُلْfaqulthen say
سَلَـٰمٌsalāmunPeace
عَلَيْكُمْ ۖʿalaykum(be) upon you
كَتَبَkataba(Has) Prescribed
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lord
عَلَىٰʿalāupon
نَفْسِهِnafsihiHimself
ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۖl-raḥmatathe Mercy
أَنَّهُۥannahuthat he
مَنْmanwho
عَمِلَʿamiladoes
مِنكُمْminkumamong you
سُوٓءًۢاsūanevil
بِجَهَـٰلَةٍۢbijahālatinin ignorance
ثُمَّthummathen
تَابَtābarepents
مِنۢminfrom
بَعْدِهِۦbaʿdihiafter it
وَأَصْلَحَwa-aṣlaḥaand reforms
فَأَنَّهُۥfa-annahuthen, indeed He
غَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭraḥīmunMost Merciful
٥٤(54)
And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, "Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful."

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
نُفَصِّلُnufaṣṣiluWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Verses
وَلِتَسْتَبِينَwalitastabīnaso that becomes manifest
سَبِيلُsabīlu(the) way
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna(of) the criminals
٥٥(55)
And thus do We detail the verses, and [thus] the way of the criminals will become evident.

قُلْqulSay
إِنِّىinnīIndeed I
نُهِيتُnuhītu[I] am forbidden
أَنْanthat
أَعْبُدَaʿbudaI worship
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
تَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou call
مِنminfrom
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllah
قُلqulSay
لَّآlāNot
أَتَّبِعُattabiʿuI follow
أَهْوَآءَكُمْ ۙahwāakumyour (vain) desires
قَدْqadcertainly
ضَلَلْتُḍalaltuI would go astray
إِذًۭاidhanthen
وَمَآwamāand not
أَنَا۠anāI (would be)
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْمُهْتَدِينَl-muh'tadīnathe guided-ones
٥٦(56)
Say, "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you invoke besides Allāh." Say, "I will not follow your desires, for I would then have gone astray, and I would not be of the [rightly] guided."

قُلْqulSay
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I (am)
عَلَىٰʿalāon
بَيِّنَةٍۢbayyinatinclear proof
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّىrabbīmy Lord
وَكَذَّبْتُمwakadhabtumwhile you deny
بِهِۦ ۚbihi[with] it
مَاmāNot
عِندِىʿindīI have
مَاmāwhat
تَسْتَعْجِلُونَtastaʿjilūnayou seek to hasten
بِهِۦٓ ۚbihiof it
إِنِiniNot
ٱلْحُكْمُl-ḥuk'mu(is) the decision
إِلَّاillāexcept
لِلَّهِ ۖlillahifor Allah
يَقُصُّyaquṣṣuHe relates
ٱلْحَقَّ ۖl-ḥaqathe truth
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
خَيْرُkhayru(is the) best
ٱلْفَـٰصِلِينَl-fāṣilīna(of) the Deciders
٥٧(57)
Say, "Indeed, I am on clear evidence from my Lord, and you have denied it. I do not have that for which you are impatient. The decision is only for Allāh. He relates the truth, and He is the best of deciders."

قُلqulSay
لَّوْlawIf
أَنَّannathat
عِندِىʿindī(were) with me
مَاmāwhat
تَسْتَعْجِلُونَtastaʿjilūnayou seek to hasten
بِهِۦbihiof it
لَقُضِىَlaquḍiyasurely would have been decided
ٱلْأَمْرُl-amruthe matter
بَيْنِىbaynībetween me
وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۗwabaynakumand between you
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
أَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowing
بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَbil-ẓālimīnaof the wrongdoers
٥٨(58)
Say, "If I had that for which you are impatient, the matter would have been decided between me and you, but Allāh is most knowing of the wrongdoers."

۞ وَعِندَهُۥwaʿindahuAnd with Him
مَفَاتِحُmafātiḥu(are the) keys
ٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseen
لَاlāno (one)
يَعْلَمُهَآyaʿlamuhāknows them
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۚhuwaHim
وَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuAnd He knows
مَاmāwhat
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلْبَرِّl-barithe land
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۚwal-baḥriand in the sea
وَمَاwamāAnd not
تَسْقُطُtasquṭufalls
مِنminof
وَرَقَةٍwaraqatinany leaf
إِلَّاillābut
يَعْلَمُهَاyaʿlamuhāHe knows it
وَلَاwalāAnd not
حَبَّةٍۢḥabbatina grain
فِىfīin
ظُلُمَـٰتِẓulumātithe darkness[es]
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the earth
وَلَاwalāand not
رَطْبٍۢraṭbinmoist
وَلَاwalāand not
يَابِسٍyābisindry
إِلَّاillābut
فِىfī(is) in
كِتَـٰبٍۢkitābina Record
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninClear
٥٩(59)
And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمyatawaffākumtakes your (soul)
بِٱلَّيْلِbi-al-layliby the night
وَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand He knows
مَاmāwhat
جَرَحْتُمjaraḥtumyou committed
بِٱلنَّهَارِbil-nahāriby the day
ثُمَّthummaThen
يَبْعَثُكُمْyabʿathukumHe raises you up
فِيهِfīhitherein
لِيُقْضَىٰٓliyuq'ḍāso that is fulfilled
أَجَلٌۭajalun(the) term
مُّسَمًّۭى ۖmusammanspecified
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِلَيْهِilayhito Him
مَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukumwill be your return
ثُمَّthummathen
يُنَبِّئُكُمyunabbi-ukumHe will inform you
بِمَاbimāabout what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
٦٠(60)
And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He revives you therein [i.e., by day] that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him will be your return; then He will inform you about what you used to do.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْقَاهِرُl-qāhiru(is) the Subjugator
فَوْقَfawqaover
عِبَادِهِۦ ۖʿibādihiHis slaves
وَيُرْسِلُwayur'siluand He sends
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover you
حَفَظَةًḥafaẓatanguardians
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāuntil
إِذَاidhāwhen
جَآءَjāacomes
أَحَدَكُمُaḥadakumu(to) anyone of you
ٱلْمَوْتُl-mawtuthe death
تَوَفَّتْهُtawaffathutake him
رُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur messengers
وَهُمْwahumand they
لَاlā(do) not
يُفَرِّطُونَyufarriṭūnafail
٦١(61)
And He is the subjugator over His servants, and He sends over you guardian-angels until, when death comes to one of you, Our messengers [i.e., angels of death] take him, and they do not fail [in their duties].

ثُمَّthummaThen
رُدُّوٓا۟ruddūthey are returned
إِلَىilāto
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مَوْلَىٰهُمُmawlāhumutheir Protector
ٱلْحَقِّ ۚl-ḥaqi[the] True
أَلَاalāUnquestionably
لَهُlahufor Him
ٱلْحُكْمُl-ḥuk'mu(is) the judgment
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
أَسْرَعُasraʿu(is) swiftest
ٱلْحَـٰسِبِينَl-ḥāsibīna(of) the Reckoners
٦٢(62)
Then they [i.e., His servants] are returned to Allāh, their true Lord. Unquestionably, His is the judgement, and He is the swiftest of accountants.

قُلْqulSay
مَنmanWho
يُنَجِّيكُمyunajjīkumsaves you
مِّنminfrom
ظُلُمَـٰتِẓulumātidarkness[es]
ٱلْبَرِّl-bari(of) the land
وَٱلْبَحْرِwal-baḥriand the sea
تَدْعُونَهُۥtadʿūnahuyou call Him
تَضَرُّعًۭاtaḍarruʿanhumbly
وَخُفْيَةًۭwakhuf'yatanand secretly
لَّئِنْla-inIf
أَنجَىٰنَاanjānāHe saves us
مِنْminfrom
هَـٰذِهِۦhādhihithis
لَنَكُونَنَّlanakūnannasurely we will be
مِنَminafrom
ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَl-shākirīnathe grateful ones
٦٣(63)
Say, "Who rescues you from the darknesses of the land and sea [when] you call upon Him imploring [aloud] and privately, 'If He should save us from this [crisis], we will surely be among the thankful.'"

قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
يُنَجِّيكُمyunajjīkumsaves you
مِّنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
وَمِنwaminand from
كُلِّkullievery
كَرْبٍۢkarbindistress
ثُمَّthummayet
أَنتُمْantumyou
تُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnaassociate partners (with Allah)
٦٤(64)
Say, "It is Allāh who saves you from it and from every distress; then you [still] associate others with Him."

قُلْqulSay
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلْقَادِرُl-qādiru(is) All-Capable
عَلَىٰٓʿalā[on]
أَنanto
يَبْعَثَyabʿathasend
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
عَذَابًۭاʿadhābanpunishment
مِّنminfrom
فَوْقِكُمْfawqikumabove you
أَوْawor
مِنminfrom
تَحْتِtaḥtibeneath
أَرْجُلِكُمْarjulikumyour feet
أَوْawor
يَلْبِسَكُمْyalbisakum(to) confuse you
شِيَعًۭاshiyaʿan(into) sects
وَيُذِيقَwayudhīqaand make (you) taste
بَعْضَكُمbaʿḍakumsome of you
بَأْسَbasaviolence
بَعْضٍ ۗbaʿḍin(of) others
ٱنظُرْunẓurSee
كَيْفَkayfahow
نُصَرِّفُnuṣarrifuWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Signs
لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَفْقَهُونَyafqahūnaunderstand
٦٥(65)
Say, "He is the [one] Able to send upon you affliction from above you or from beneath your feet or to confuse you [so you become] sects and make you taste the violence of one another." Look how We diversify the signs that they might understand.

وَكَذَّبَwakadhabaBut denied
بِهِۦbihiit
قَوْمُكَqawmukayour people
وَهُوَwahuwawhile it
ٱلْحَقُّ ۚl-ḥaqu(is) the truth
قُلqulSay
لَّسْتُlastuI am not
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumover you
بِوَكِيلٍۢbiwakīlina manager
٦٦(66)
But your people have denied it while it is the truth. Say, "I am not over you a manager [i.e., authority]."

لِّكُلِّlikulliFor every
نَبَإٍۢnaba-innews
مُّسْتَقَرٌّۭ ۚmus'taqarrun(is) a fixed time
وَسَوْفَwasawfaand soon
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
٦٧(67)
For every news [i.e., happening] is a finality; and you are going to know.

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
رَأَيْتَra-aytayou see
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَخُوضُونَyakhūḍūnaengage (in vain talks)
فِىٓfīabout
ءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Verses
فَأَعْرِضْfa-aʿriḍthen turn away
عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَخُوضُوا۟yakhūḍūthey engage
فِىfīin
حَدِيثٍḥadīthina talk
غَيْرِهِۦ ۚghayrihiother than it
وَإِمَّاwa-immāAnd if
يُنسِيَنَّكَyunsiyannakacauses you to forget
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan
فَلَاfalāthen (do) not
تَقْعُدْtaqʿudsit
بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
ٱلذِّكْرَىٰl-dhik'rāthe reminder
مَعَmaʿawith
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٦٨(68)
And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversation. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the wrongdoing people.

وَمَاwamāAnd not
عَلَىʿalā(is) on
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafear (Allah)
مِنْminof
حِسَابِهِمḥisābihimtheir account
مِّنmin[of]
شَىْءٍۢshayinanything
وَلَـٰكِنwalākinbut
ذِكْرَىٰdhik'rā(for) reminder
لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they may
يَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafear (Allah)
٦٩(69)
And those who fear Allāh are not held accountable for them [i.e., the disbelievers] at all, but [only for] a reminder - that perhaps they will fear Him.

وَذَرِwadhariAnd leave
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ittakhadhūtake
دِينَهُمْdīnahumtheir religion
لَعِبًۭاlaʿiban(as) a play
وَلَهْوًۭاwalahwanand amusement
وَغَرَّتْهُمُwagharrathumuand deluded them
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُl-ḥayatuthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَذَكِّرْwadhakkirBut remind
بِهِۦٓbihiwith it
أَنanlest
تُبْسَلَtub'salais given up to destruction
نَفْسٌۢnafsuna soul
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَسَبَتْkasabatit (has) earned
لَيْسَlaysanot
لَهَاlahā(is) for it
مِنminfrom
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَلِىٌّۭwaliyyunany protector
وَلَاwalāand not
شَفِيعٌۭshafīʿunany intercessor
وَإِنwa-inAnd if
تَعْدِلْtaʿdilit offers ransom
كُلَّkullaevery
عَدْلٍۢʿadlinransom
لَّاlānot
يُؤْخَذْyu'khadhwill it be taken
مِنْهَآ ۗmin'hāfrom it
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) ones who
أُبْسِلُوا۟ub'silūare given to destruction
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَسَبُوا۟ ۖkasabūthey earned
لَهُمْlahumFor them
شَرَابٌۭsharābun(will be) a drink
مِّنْminof
حَمِيمٍۢḥamīminboiling water
وَعَذَابٌwaʿadhābunand a punishment
أَلِيمٌۢalīmunpainful
بِمَاbimābecause
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieve
٧٠(70)
And leave those who take their religion as amusement and diversion and whom the worldly life has deluded. But remind with it [i.e., the Qur’ān], lest a soul be given up to destruction for what it earned; it will have other than Allāh no protector and no intercessor. And if it should offer every compensation, it would not be taken from it [i.e., that soul]. Those are the ones who are given to destruction for what they have earned. For them will be a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment because they used to disbelieve.

قُلْqulSay
أَنَدْعُوا۟anadʿūShall we call
مِنminfrom
دُونِdūnibesides
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
مَاmāwhat
لَاlānot
يَنفَعُنَاyanfaʿunābenefits us
وَلَاwalāand not
يَضُرُّنَاyaḍurrunāharms us
وَنُرَدُّwanuradduand we turn back
عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
أَعْقَابِنَاaʿqābināour heels
بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
إِذْidh[when]
هَدَىٰنَاhadānā(has) guided us
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
كَٱلَّذِىka-alladhīLike the one
ٱسْتَهْوَتْهُis'tahwathuwhom (has been) enticed
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُl-shayāṭīnu(by) the Shaitaan
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
حَيْرَانَḥayrānaconfused
لَهُۥٓlahuhe has
أَصْحَـٰبٌۭaṣḥābuncompanions
يَدْعُونَهُۥٓyadʿūnahuwho call him
إِلَىilātowards
ٱلْهُدَىl-hudāthe guidance
ٱئْتِنَا ۗi'tinā'Come to us.'
قُلْqulSay
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هُدَىhudā(the) Guidance
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
هُوَhuwait
ٱلْهُدَىٰ ۖl-hudā(is) the Guidance
وَأُمِرْنَاwa-umir'nāand we have been commanded
لِنُسْلِمَlinus'limathat we submit
لِرَبِّlirabbito (the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٧١(71)
Say, "Shall we invoke instead of Allāh that which neither benefits us nor harms us and be turned back on our heels after Allāh has guided us? [We would then be] like one whom the devils enticed [to wander] upon the earth confused, [while] he has companions inviting him to guidance, [calling], 'Come to us.'" Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allāh is the [only] guidance; and we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds.

وَأَنْwa-anAnd to
أَقِيمُوا۟aqīmūestablish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
وَٱتَّقُوهُ ۚwa-ittaqūhuand fear Him
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One
إِلَيْهِilayhito Him
تُحْشَرُونَtuḥ'sharūnayou will be gathered
٧٢(72)
And to establish prayer and fear Him." And it is He to whom you will be gathered.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd (it is) He
ٱلَّذِىalladhīWho
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖbil-ḥaqiin truth
وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Day
يَقُولُyaqūluHe says
كُنkunBe
فَيَكُونُ ۚfayakūnuand it is
قَوْلُهُqawluhuHis word
ٱلْحَقُّ ۚl-ḥaqu(is) the truth
وَلَهُwalahuAnd for Him
ٱلْمُلْكُl-mul'ku(is) the Dominion
يَوْمَyawma(on the) Day
يُنفَخُyunfakhuwill be blown
فِىfīin
ٱلصُّورِ ۚl-ṣūrithe trumpet
عَـٰلِمُʿālimu(He is) All-Knower
ٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ۚwal-shahādatiand the seen
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu(is) the All-Wise
ٱلْخَبِيرُl-khabīruthe All-Aware
٧٣(73)
And it is He who created the heavens and earth in truth. And the day [i.e., whenever] He says, "Be," and it is, His word is the truth. And His is the dominion [on] the Day the Horn is blown. [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed; and He is the Wise, the Aware.

۞ وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
قَالَqālasaid
إِبْرَٰهِيمُib'rāhīmuIbrahim
لِأَبِيهِli-abīhito his father
ءَازَرَāzaraAzar
أَتَتَّخِذُatattakhidhuDo you take
أَصْنَامًاaṣnāmanidols
ءَالِهَةً ۖālihatan(as) gods
إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
أَرَىٰكَarāka[I] see you
وَقَوْمَكَwaqawmakaand your people
فِىfīin
ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinerror
مُّبِينٍۢmubīninmanifest
٧٤(74)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said to his father Āzar, "Do you take idols as deities? Indeed, I see you and your people to be in manifest error."

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
نُرِىٓnurīWe show(ed)
إِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahim
مَلَكُوتَmalakūtathe kingdom
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
وَلِيَكُونَwaliyakūnaso that he would be
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُوقِنِينَl-mūqinīnathe ones who are certain
٧٥(75)
And thus did We show Abraham the realm of the heavens and the earth that he would be among the certain [in faith].

فَلَمَّاfalammāSo when
جَنَّjannacovered
عَلَيْهِʿalayhiover him
ٱلَّيْلُal-layluthe night
رَءَاraāhe saw
كَوْكَبًۭا ۖkawkabana star
قَالَqālaHe said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
رَبِّى ۖrabbī(is) my Lord
فَلَمَّآfalammāBut when
أَفَلَafalait set
قَالَqālahe said
لَآlāNot
أُحِبُّuḥibbu(do) I like
ٱلْـَٔافِلِينَl-āfilīnathe ones that set
٧٦(76)
So when the night covered him [with darkness], he saw a star. He said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "I like not those that set [i.e., disappear]."

فَلَمَّاfalammāWhen
رَءَاraāhe saw
ٱلْقَمَرَl-qamarathe moon
بَازِغًۭاbāzighanrising
قَالَqālahe said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
رَبِّى ۖrabbī(is) my Lord
فَلَمَّآfalammāBut when
أَفَلَafalait set
قَالَqālahe said
لَئِنla-inIf
لَّمْlam(does) not
يَهْدِنِىyahdinīguide me
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
لَأَكُونَنَّla-akūnannaI will surely be
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
ٱلضَّآلِّينَl-ḍālīnawho went astray
٧٧(77)
And when he saw the moon rising, he said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the people gone astray."

فَلَمَّاfalammāWhen
رَءَاraāhe saw
ٱلشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sun
بَازِغَةًۭbāzighatanrising
قَالَqālahe said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis (is)
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
هَـٰذَآhādhāthis (is)
أَكْبَرُ ۖakbarugreater
فَلَمَّآfalammāBut when
أَفَلَتْafalatit set
قَالَqālahe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭbarīonfree
مِّمَّاmimmāof what
تُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate (with Allah)
٧٨(78)
And when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my lord; this is greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allāh.

إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I
وَجَّهْتُwajjahtu[I] have turned
وَجْهِىَwajhiyamy face
لِلَّذِىlilladhīto the One Who
فَطَرَfaṭaracreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth
حَنِيفًۭا ۖḥanīfan(as) a true monotheist
وَمَآwamāand not
أَنَا۠anāI (am)
مِنَminaof
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
٧٩(79)
Indeed, I have turned my face [i.e., self] toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allāh."

وَحَآجَّهُۥwaḥājjahuAnd argued with him
قَوْمُهُۥ ۚqawmuhuhis people
قَالَqālaHe said
أَتُحَـٰٓجُّوٓنِّىatuḥājjūnnīDo you argue with me
فِىfīconcerning
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَقَدْwaqadwhile certainly
هَدَىٰنِ ۚhadāniHe has guided me
وَلَآwalāAnd not
أَخَافُakhāfu(do) I fear
مَاmāwhat
تُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate
بِهِۦٓbihiwith Him
إِلَّآillāunless
أَنan[that]
يَشَآءَyashāawills
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
شَيْـًۭٔا ۗshayananything
وَسِعَwasiʿaEncompasses
رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
كُلَّkullaevery
شَىْءٍshayinthing
عِلْمًا ۗʿil'man(in) knowledge
أَفَلَاafalāThen will not
تَتَذَكَّرُونَtatadhakkarūnayou take heed
٨٠(80)
And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allāh while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; then will you not remember?

وَكَيْفَwakayfaAnd how
أَخَافُakhāfucould I fear
مَآmāwhat
أَشْرَكْتُمْashraktumyou associate (with Allah)
وَلَاwalāwhile not
تَخَافُونَtakhāfūnayou fear
أَنَّكُمْannakumthat you
أَشْرَكْتُمashraktumhave associated
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiwith Allah
مَاmāwhat
لَمْlamnot
يُنَزِّلْyunazzildid He send down
بِهِۦbihifor it
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto you
سُلْطَـٰنًۭا ۚsul'ṭānanany authority
فَأَىُّfa-ayyuSo which
ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِl-farīqayni(of) the two parties
أَحَقُّaḥaqquhas more right
بِٱلْأَمْنِ ۖbil-amnito security
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
٨١(81)
And how should I fear what you associate while you do not fear that you have associated with Allāh that for which He has not sent down to you any authority? So which of the two parties has more right to security, if you should know?"

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
وَلَمْwalamand (did) not
يَلْبِسُوٓا۟yalbisūmix
إِيمَـٰنَهُمīmānahumtheir belief
بِظُلْمٍbiẓul'minwith wrong
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
لَهُمُlahumufor them
ٱلْأَمْنُl-amnu(is) the security
وَهُمwahumand they
مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna(are) rightly guided
٨٢(82)
They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice - those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.

وَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd this
حُجَّتُنَآḥujjatunā(is) Our argument
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهَآātaynāhāWe gave it
إِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīma(to) Ibrahim
عَلَىٰʿalāagainst
قَوْمِهِۦ ۚqawmihihis people
نَرْفَعُnarfaʿuWe raise
دَرَجَـٰتٍۢdarajātin(by) degrees
مَّنmanwhom
نَّشَآءُ ۗnashāuWe will
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
حَكِيمٌḥakīmun(is) All-Wise
عَلِيمٌۭʿalīmunAll-Knowing
٨٣(83)
And that was Our [conclusive] argument which We gave Abraham against his people. We raise by degrees whom We will. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing.

وَوَهَبْنَاwawahabnāAnd We bestowed
لَهُۥٓlahuto him
إِسْحَـٰقَis'ḥāqaIsaac
وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚwayaʿqūbaand Yaqub
كُلًّاkullanall
هَدَيْنَا ۚhadaynāWe guided
وَنُوحًاwanūḥanAnd Nuh
هَدَيْنَاhadaynāWe guided
مِنminfrom
قَبْلُ ۖqablubefore
وَمِنwaminand of
ذُرِّيَّتِهِۦdhurriyyatihihis descendents
دَاوُۥدَdāwūdaDawood
وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَwasulaymānaand Sulaiman
وَأَيُّوبَwa-ayyūbaand Ayyub
وَيُوسُفَwayūsufaand Yusuf
وَمُوسَىٰwamūsāand Musa
وَهَـٰرُونَ ۚwahārūnaand Harun
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
نَجْزِىnajzīWe reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
٨٤(84)
And We gave to him [i.e., Abraham] Isaac and Jacob - all [of them] We guided. And Noah, We guided before; and among his descendants, David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the doers of good.

وَزَكَرِيَّاwazakariyyāAnd Zakariya
وَيَحْيَىٰwayaḥyāand Yahya
وَعِيسَىٰwaʿīsāand Isa
وَإِلْيَاسَ ۖwa-il'yāsaand Elijah
كُلٌّۭkullunall (were)
مِّنَminaof
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
٨٥(85)
And Zechariah and John and Jesus and Elias - and all were of the righteous.

وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَwa-is'māʿīlaAnd Ishmael
وَٱلْيَسَعَwal-yasaʿaand Elisha
وَيُونُسَwayūnusaand Yunus
وَلُوطًۭا ۚwalūṭanand Lut
وَكُلًّۭاwakullanand all
فَضَّلْنَاfaḍḍalnāWe preferred
عَلَىʿalāover
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
٨٦(86)
And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot - and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds.

وَمِنْwaminAnd from
ءَابَآئِهِمْābāihimtheir fathers
وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْwadhurriyyātihimand their descendents
وَإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ ۖwa-ikh'wānihimand their brothers
وَٱجْتَبَيْنَـٰهُمْwa-ij'tabaynāhumand We chose them
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمْwahadaynāhumand We guided them
إِلَىٰilāto
صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭina path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīminstraight
٨٧(87)
And [some] among their fathers and their descendants and their brothers - and We chose them and We guided them to a straight path.

ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
هُدَىhudā(is the) Guidance
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
يَهْدِىyahdīHe guides
بِهِۦbihiwith it
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
مِنْminof
عِبَادِهِۦ ۚʿibādihiHis slaves
وَلَوْwalawBut if
أَشْرَكُوا۟ashrakūthey (had) associated partners (with Allah)
لَحَبِطَlaḥabiṭasurely (would be) worthless
عَنْهُمʿanhumfor them
مَّاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
٨٨(88)
That is the guidance of Allāh by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allāh, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) ones whom
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُātaynāhumuWe gave them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
وَٱلْحُكْمَwal-ḥuk'maand the judgment
وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ ۚwal-nubuwataand the Prophethood
فَإِنfa-inBut if
يَكْفُرْyakfurdisbelieve
بِهَاbihāin it
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāithese
فَقَدْfaqadthen indeed
وَكَّلْنَاwakkalnāWe have entrusted
بِهَاbihāit
قَوْمًۭاqawman(to) a people
لَّيْسُوا۟laysūwho are not
بِهَاbihātherein
بِكَـٰفِرِينَbikāfirīnadisbelievers
٨٩(89)
Those are the ones to whom We gave the Scripture and authority and prophethood. But if they [i.e., the disbelievers] deny it, then We have entrusted it to a people who are not therein disbelievers.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) ones whom
هَدَىhadā(have been) guided
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahu(by) Allah
فَبِهُدَىٰهُمُfabihudāhumuso of their guidance
ٱقْتَدِهْ ۗiq'tadihyou follow
قُلqulSay
لَّآlāNot
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْasalukumI ask you
عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor it
أَجْرًا ۖajranany reward
إِنْinNot
هُوَhuwa(is) it
إِلَّاillābut
ذِكْرَىٰdhik'rāa reminder
لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
٩٠(90)
Those are the ones whom Allāh has guided, so from their guidance take an example. Say, "I ask of you for it [i.e., this message] no payment. It is not but a reminder for the worlds."

وَمَاwamāAnd not
قَدَرُوا۟qadarūthey appraised
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
حَقَّḥaqqa(with) true
قَدْرِهِۦٓqadrihi[of his] appraisal
إِذْidhwhen
قَالُوا۟qālūthey said
مَآmāNot
أَنزَلَanzalarevealed
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
عَلَىٰʿalāon
بَشَرٍۢbasharina human being
مِّنmin[of]
شَىْءٍۢ ۗshayinanything
قُلْqulSay
مَنْmanWho
أَنزَلَanzalarevealed
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
ٱلَّذِىalladhīwhich
جَآءَjāabrought
بِهِۦbihi[it]
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
نُورًۭاnūran(as) a light
وَهُدًۭىwahudanand guidance
لِّلنَّاسِ ۖlilnnāsifor the people
تَجْعَلُونَهُۥtajʿalūnahuYou make it
قَرَاطِيسَqarāṭīsa(into) parchments
تُبْدُونَهَاtub'dūnahāyou disclose (some of) it
وَتُخْفُونَwatukh'fūnaand you conceal
كَثِيرًۭا ۖkathīranmuch (of it)
وَعُلِّمْتُمwaʿullim'tumAnd you were taught
مَّاmāwhat
لَمْlamnot
تَعْلَمُوٓا۟taʿlamūknew
أَنتُمْantumyou
وَلَآwalāand not
ءَابَآؤُكُمْ ۖābāukumyour forefathers
قُلِquliSay
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuAllah (revealed it)
ثُمَّthummaThen
ذَرْهُمْdharhumleave them
فِىfīin
خَوْضِهِمْkhawḍihimtheir discourse
يَلْعَبُونَyalʿabūnaplaying
٩١(91)
And they did not appraise Allāh with true appraisal when they said, "Allāh did not reveal to a human being anything." Say, "Who revealed the Scripture that Moses brought as light and guidance to the people? You [Jews] make it into pages, disclosing [some of] it and concealing much. And you were taught that which you knew not - neither you nor your fathers." Say, "Allāh [revealed it]." Then leave them in their [empty] discourse, amusing themselves.

وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāAnd this
كِتَـٰبٌkitābun(is) a Book
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُanzalnāhuWe have revealed it
مُبَارَكٌۭmubārakunblessed
مُّصَدِّقُmuṣaddiquconfirming
ٱلَّذِىalladhīwhich
بَيْنَbayna(came) before
يَدَيْهِyadayhiits hands
وَلِتُنذِرَwalitundhiraso that you may warn
أُمَّumma(the) mother
ٱلْقُرَىٰl-qurā(of) the cities
وَمَنْwamanand who
حَوْلَهَا ۚḥawlahā(are) around it
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believe
بِهِۦ ۖbihiin it
وَهُمْwahumand they
عَلَىٰʿalāover
صَلَاتِهِمْṣalātihimtheir prayers
يُحَافِظُونَyuḥāfiẓūna(are) guarding
٩٢(92)
And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities [i.e., Makkah] and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are maintaining their prayers.

وَمَنْwamanAnd who
أَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰif'tarāinvents
عَلَىʿalāabout
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
كَذِبًاkadhibana lie
أَوْawor
قَالَqālasaid
أُوحِىَūḥiyaIt has been inspired
إِلَىَّilayyato me
وَلَمْwalamwhile not
يُوحَyūḥait was inspired
إِلَيْهِilayhito him
شَىْءٌۭshayonanything
وَمَنwamanand (one) who
قَالَqālasaid
سَأُنزِلُsa-unziluI will reveal
مِثْلَmith'lalike
مَآmāwhat
أَنزَلَanzala(has been) revealed
ٱللَّهُ ۗl-lahu(by) Allah
وَلَوْwalawAnd if
تَرَىٰٓtarāyou (could) see
إِذِidhiwhen
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
فِىfī(are) in
غَمَرَٰتِghamarātiagonies
ٱلْمَوْتِl-mawti(of) [the] death
وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُwal-malāikatuwhile the Angels
بَاسِطُوٓا۟bāsiṭū(are) stretching out
أَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands (saying)
أَخْرِجُوٓا۟akhrijūDischarge
أَنفُسَكُمُ ۖanfusakumuyour souls
ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmaToday
تُجْزَوْنَtuj'zawnayou will be recompensed
عَذَابَʿadhāba(with) punishment
ٱلْهُونِl-hūnihumiliating
بِمَاbimābecause
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَقُولُونَtaqūlūnasay
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
غَيْرَghayraother than
ٱلْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truth
وَكُنتُمْwakuntumand you were
عَنْʿantowards
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦāyātihiHis Verses
تَسْتَكْبِرُونَtastakbirūnabeing arrogant
٩٣(93)
And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allāh or says, "It has been inspired to me," while nothing has been inspired to him, and one who says, "I will reveal [something] like what Allāh revealed." And if you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming pangs of death while the angels extend their hands, [saying], "Discharge your souls! Today you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation for what you used to say against Allāh other than the truth and [that] you were, toward His verses, being arrogant."

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
جِئْتُمُونَاji'tumūnāyou have come to Us
فُرَٰدَىٰfurādāalone
كَمَاkamāas
خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْkhalaqnākumWe created you
أَوَّلَawwala(the) first
مَرَّةٍۢmarratintime
وَتَرَكْتُمwataraktumand you have left
مَّاmāwhatever
خَوَّلْنَـٰكُمْkhawwalnākumWe bestowed (on) you
وَرَآءَwarāabehind
ظُهُورِكُمْ ۖẓuhūrikumyour backs
وَمَاwamāAnd not
نَرَىٰnarāWe see
مَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith you
شُفَعَآءَكُمُshufaʿāakumuyour intercessors
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
زَعَمْتُمْzaʿamtumyou claimed
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they (were)
فِيكُمْfīkumin your (matters)
شُرَكَـٰٓؤُا۟ ۚshurakāupartners (with Allah)
لَقَدlaqadIndeed
تَّقَطَّعَtaqaṭṭaʿahave been severed (bonds)
بَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween you
وَضَلَّwaḍallaand is lost
عَنكُمʿankumfrom you
مَّاmāwhat
كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
تَزْعُمُونَtazʿumūnaclaim
٩٤(94)
[It will be said to them], "And you have certainly come to Us alone [i.e., individually] as We created you the first time, and you have left whatever We bestowed upon you behind you. And We do not see with you your 'intercessors' which you claimed that they were among you associates [of Allāh]. It has [all] been severed between you, and lost from you is what you used to claim."

۞ إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
فَالِقُfāliqu(is the) Cleaver
ٱلْحَبِّl-ḥabi(of) the grain
وَٱلنَّوَىٰ ۖwal-nawāand the date-seed
يُخْرِجُyukh'rijuHe brings forth
ٱلْحَىَّl-ḥayathe living
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْمَيِّتِl-mayitithe dead
وَمُخْرِجُwamukh'rijuand brings forth
ٱلْمَيِّتِl-mayitithe dead
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْحَىِّ ۚl-ḥayithe living
ذَٰلِكُمُdhālikumuThat
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahu(is) Allah
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāso how
تُؤْفَكُونَtu'fakūnaare you deluded
٩٥(95)
Indeed, Allāh is the cleaver of grain and date seeds. He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living. That is Allāh; so how are you deluded?

فَالِقُfāliqu(He is the) Cleaver
ٱلْإِصْبَاحِl-iṣ'bāḥi(of) the daybreak
وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand He has made
ٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe night
سَكَنًۭاsakanan(for) rest
وَٱلشَّمْسَwal-shamsaand the sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moon
حُسْبَانًۭا ۚḥus'bānan(for) reckoning
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
تَقْدِيرُtaqdīru(is the) ordaining
ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzi(of) the All-Mighty
ٱلْعَلِيمِl-ʿalīmithe All-Knowing
٩٦(96)
[He is] the cleaver of daybreak and has made the night for rest and the sun and moon for calculation. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَjaʿalamade
لَكُمُlakumufor you
ٱلنُّجُومَl-nujūmathe stars
لِتَهْتَدُوا۟litahtadūthat you may guide yourselves
بِهَاbihāwith them
فِىfīin
ظُلُمَـٰتِẓulumātithe darkness[es]
ٱلْبَرِّl-bari(of) the land
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۗwal-baḥriand the sea
قَدْqadCertainly
فَصَّلْنَاfaṣṣalnāWe have made clear
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Signs
لِقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna(who) know
٩٧(97)
And it is He who placed for you the stars that you may be guided by them through the darknesses of the land and sea. We have detailed the signs for a people who know.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One Who
أَنشَأَكُمansha-akum(has) produced you
مِّنminfrom
نَّفْسٍۢnafsina soul
وَٰحِدَةٍۢwāḥidatinsingle
فَمُسْتَقَرٌّۭfamus'taqarrunso (there is) a place of dwelling
وَمُسْتَوْدَعٌۭ ۗwamus'tawdaʿunand a resting place
قَدْqadCertainly
فَصَّلْنَاfaṣṣalnāWe have made clear
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Signs
لِقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَفْقَهُونَyafqahūna(who) understand
٩٨(98)
And it is He who produced you from one soul and [gave you] a place of dwelling and of storage. We have detailed the signs for a people who understand.

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One Who
أَنزَلَanzalasends down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مَآءًۭmāanwater
فَأَخْرَجْنَاfa-akhrajnāthen We bring forth
بِهِۦbihiwith it
نَبَاتَnabātavegetation
كُلِّkulli(of) every
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
فَأَخْرَجْنَاfa-akhrajnāThen We bring forth
مِنْهُmin'hufrom it
خَضِرًۭاkhaḍirangreen plant
نُّخْرِجُnukh'rijuWe bring forth
مِنْهُmin'hufrom it
حَبًّۭاḥabbangrain
مُّتَرَاكِبًۭاmutarākibanthick clustered
وَمِنَwaminaAnd from
ٱلنَّخْلِl-nakhlithe date-palm
مِنminfrom
طَلْعِهَاṭalʿihāits spathe
قِنْوَانٌۭqin'wānunclusters of dates
دَانِيَةٌۭdāniyatunhanging low
وَجَنَّـٰتٍۢwajannātinAnd gardens
مِّنْminof
أَعْنَابٍۢaʿnābingrapes
وَٱلزَّيْتُونَwal-zaytūnaand the olives
وَٱلرُّمَّانَwal-rumānaand the pomegranates
مُشْتَبِهًۭاmush'tabihanresembling
وَغَيْرَwaghayraand not
مُتَشَـٰبِهٍ ۗmutashābihinresembling
ٱنظُرُوٓا۟unẓurūLook
إِلَىٰilāat
ثَمَرِهِۦٓthamarihiits fruit
إِذَآidhāwhen
أَثْمَرَathmarait bears fruit
وَيَنْعِهِۦٓ ۚwayanʿihiand its ripening
إِنَّinnaIndeed
فِىfīin
ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumthat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaāyātin(are) signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūna(who) believe
٩٩(99)
And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees - of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.

وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalūAnd they make
لِلَّهِlillahiwith Allah
شُرَكَآءَshurakāapartners
ٱلْجِنَّl-jinajinn
وَخَلَقَهُمْ ۖwakhalaqahumthough He has created them
وَخَرَقُوا۟wakharaqūand they falsely attribute
لَهُۥlahuto Him
بَنِينَbanīnasons
وَبَنَـٰتٍۭwabanātinand daughters
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
عِلْمٍۢ ۚʿil'minknowledge
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥsub'ḥānahuGlorified is He
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰwataʿālāand Exalted
عَمَّاʿammāabove what
يَصِفُونَyaṣifūnathey attribute
١٠٠(100)
But they have attributed to Allāh partners - the jinn, while He has created them - and have fabricated for Him sons and daughters without knowledge. Exalted is He and high above what they describe.

بَدِيعُbadīʿuOriginator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖwal-arḍiand the earth
أَنَّىٰannāHow
يَكُونُyakūnucan be
لَهُۥlahufor Him
وَلَدٌۭwaladuna son
وَلَمْwalamwhile not
تَكُنtakun(there) is
لَّهُۥlahufor Him
صَـٰحِبَةٌۭ ۖṣāḥibatuna companion
وَخَلَقَwakhalaqaand He created
كُلَّkullaevery
شَىْءٍۢ ۖshayinthing
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
بِكُلِّbikulli(is) of every
شَىْءٍshayinthing
عَلِيمٌۭʿalīmunAll-Knower
١٠١(101)
[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion [i.e., wife] and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.

ذَٰلِكُمُdhālikumuThat
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمْ ۖrabbukumyour Lord
لَآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHim
خَـٰلِقُkhāliqu(the) Creator
كُلِّkulli(of) every
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚfa-uʿ'budūhuso worship Him
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
كُلِّkullievery
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
وَكِيلٌۭwakīluna Guardian
١٠٢(102)
That is Allāh, your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Disposer of all things.

لَّاlāNot (can)
تُدْرِكُهُtud'rikuhugrasp Him
ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُl-abṣāruthe visions
وَهُوَwahuwabut He
يُدْرِكُyud'riku(can) grasp
ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ ۖl-abṣāra(all) the vision
وَهُوَwahuwaand He (is)
ٱللَّطِيفُl-laṭīfuthe All-Subtle
ٱلْخَبِيرُl-khabīruthe All-Aware
١٠٣(103)
Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Aware.

قَدْqadVerily
جَآءَكُمjāakumhas come to you
بَصَآئِرُbaṣāiruenlightenment
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكُمْ ۖrabbikumyour Lord
فَمَنْfamanThen whoever
أَبْصَرَabṣarasees
فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖfalinafsihithen (it is) for his soul
وَمَنْwamanand whoever
عَمِىَʿamiya(is) blind
فَعَلَيْهَا ۚfaʿalayhāthen (it is) against himself
وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَنَا۠anā(am) I
عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumover you
بِحَفِيظٍۢbiḥafīẓina guardian
١٠٤(104)
There has come to you enlightenment from your Lord. So whoever will see does so for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever is blind [does harm] against it. And [say], "I am not a guardian over you."
Juz 7Page 141
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
نُصَرِّفُnuṣarrifuWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Signs
وَلِيَقُولُوا۟waliyaqūlūthat they (may) say
دَرَسْتَdarastaYou have studied
وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُۥwalinubayyinahuand that We (may) make it clear
لِقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnawho know
١٠٥(105)
And thus do We diversify the verses so they [i.e., the disbelievers] will say, "You have studied," and so We may make it [i.e., the Qur’ān] clear for a people who know.

ٱتَّبِعْittabiʿFollow
مَآmāwhat
أُوحِىَūḥiyahas been inspired
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
مِنminfrom
رَّبِّكَ ۖrabbikayour Lord
لَآlā(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَilāhagod
إِلَّاillāexcept
هُوَ ۖhuwaHim
وَأَعْرِضْwa-aʿriḍand turn away
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
١٠٦(106)
Follow, [O Muḥammad], what has been revealed to you from your Lord - there is no deity except Him - and turn away from those who associate others with Allāh.

وَلَوْwalawAnd if
شَآءَshāa(had) willed
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
مَآmānot (they would have)
أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۗashrakūassociated partners (with Him)
وَمَاwamāAnd not
جَعَلْنَـٰكَjaʿalnākaWe have made you
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover them
حَفِيظًۭا ۖḥafīẓana guardian
وَمَآwamāand not
أَنتَantayou
عَلَيْهِمʿalayhim(are) over them
بِوَكِيلٍۢbiwakīlina manager
١٠٧(107)
But if Allāh had willed, they would not have associated. And We have not appointed you over them as a guardian, nor are you a manager over them.

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَسُبُّوا۟tasubbūinsult
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whom
يَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invoke
مِنminfrom
دُونِdūniother than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
فَيَسُبُّوا۟fayasubbūlest they insult
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
عَدْوًۢاʿadwan(in) enmity
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
عِلْمٍۢ ۗʿil'minknowledge
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
زَيَّنَّاzayyannāWe have made fair-seeming
لِكُلِّlikullito every
أُمَّةٍummatincommunity
عَمَلَهُمْʿamalahumtheir deed
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّهِمrabbihimtheir Lord
مَّرْجِعُهُمْmarjiʿuhum(is) their return
فَيُنَبِّئُهُمfayunabbi-uhumthen He will inform them
بِمَاbimāabout what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
١٠٨(108)
And do not insult those they invoke other than Allāh, lest they insult Allāh in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟wa-aqsamūAnd they swear
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiby Allah
جَهْدَjahdastrongest
أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْaymānihim(of) their oaths
لَئِنla-inthat if
جَآءَتْهُمْjāathumcame to them
ءَايَةٌۭāyatuna sign
لَّيُؤْمِنُنَّlayu'minunnathey would surely believe
بِهَا ۚbihāin it
قُلْqulSay
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتُl-āyātuthe signs
عِندَʿinda(are) with
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahiAllah
وَمَاwamāAnd what
يُشْعِرُكُمْyush'ʿirukumwill make you perceive
أَنَّهَآannahāthat [it]
إِذَاidhāwhen
جَآءَتْjāatit comes
لَاlānot
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey will believe
١٠٩(109)
And they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, "The signs are only with [i.e., from] Allāh." And what will make you perceive that even if it [i.e., a sign] came, they would not believe.

وَنُقَلِّبُwanuqallibuAnd We will turn
أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْafidatahumtheir hearts
وَأَبْصَـٰرَهُمْwa-abṣārahumand their sights
كَمَاkamā(just) as
لَمْlamnot
يُؤْمِنُوا۟yu'minūthey believe
بِهِۦٓbihiin it
أَوَّلَawwala(the) first
مَرَّةٍۢmarratintime
وَنَذَرُهُمْwanadharuhumAnd We will leave them
فِىfīin
طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْṭugh'yānihimtheir transgression
يَعْمَهُونَyaʿmahūnawandering blindly
١١٠(110)
And We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it [i.e., the revelation] the first time. And We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly.

۞ وَلَوْwalawAnd (even) if
أَنَّنَاannanā[that] We (had)
نَزَّلْنَآnazzalnā[We] sent down
إِلَيْهِمُilayhimuto them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَl-malāikatathe Angels
وَكَلَّمَهُمُwakallamahumuand spoken to them
ٱلْمَوْتَىٰl-mawtāthe dead
وَحَشَرْنَاwaḥasharnāand We gathered
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimbefore them
كُلَّkullaevery
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
قُبُلًۭاqubulanface to face
مَّاmānot
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
لِيُؤْمِنُوٓا۟liyu'minūto believe
إِلَّآillāunless
أَنan[that]
يَشَآءَyashāawills
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnaBut
أَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of them
يَجْهَلُونَyajhalūna(are) ignorant
١١١(111)
And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message] and the dead spoke to them [of it] and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not believe unless Allāh should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant.

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
جَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe made
لِكُلِّlikullifor every
نَبِىٍّnabiyyinProphet
عَدُوًّۭاʿaduwwanan enemy
شَيَـٰطِينَshayāṭīnadevils
ٱلْإِنسِl-insi(from) the mankind
وَٱلْجِنِّwal-jiniand the jinn
يُوحِىyūḥīinspiring
بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of them
إِلَىٰilāto
بَعْضٍۢbaʿḍinothers
زُخْرُفَzukh'rufa(with) decorative
ٱلْقَوْلِl-qawli[the] speech
غُرُورًۭا ۚghurūran(in) deception
وَلَوْwalawBut if
شَآءَshāa(had) willed
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord
مَاmānot
فَعَلُوهُ ۖfaʿalūhuthey (would) have done it
فَذَرْهُمْfadharhumso leave them
وَمَاwamāand what
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnathey invent
١١٢(112)
And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent.

وَلِتَصْغَىٰٓwalitaṣghāAnd so that incline
إِلَيْهِilayhito it
أَفْـِٔدَةُafidatuhearts
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
وَلِيَرْضَوْهُwaliyarḍawhuand so that they may be pleased with it
وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا۟waliyaqtarifūand so that they may commit
مَاmāwhat
هُمhumthey
مُّقْتَرِفُونَmuq'tarifūna(are) committing
١١٣(113)
And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it [i.e., deceptive speech] and that they will be satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing.

أَفَغَيْرَafaghayraThen is (it) other than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
أَبْتَغِىabtaghīI seek
حَكَمًۭاḥakaman(as) judge
وَهُوَwahuwawhile He
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One Who
أَنزَلَanzalahas revealed
إِلَيْكُمُilaykumuto you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
مُفَصَّلًۭا ۚmufaṣṣalanexplained in detail
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those (to) whom
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُātaynāhumuWe gave them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey know
أَنَّهُۥannahuthat it
مُنَزَّلٌۭmunazzalun(is) sent down
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖbil-ḥaqiin truth
فَلَاfalāso (do) not
تَكُونَنَّtakūnannabe
مِنَminaamong
ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَl-mum'tarīnathe ones who doubt
١١٤(114)
[Say], "Then is it other than Allāh I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] explained in detail?" And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.

وَتَمَّتْwatammatAnd (has been) fulfilled
كَلِمَتُkalimatu(the) word
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
صِدْقًۭاṣid'qan(in) truth
وَعَدْلًۭا ۚwaʿadlanand justice
لَّاlāNo
مُبَدِّلَmubaddilaone can change
لِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ ۚlikalimātihiHis words
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
ٱلسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
١١٥(115)
And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

وَإِنwa-inAnd if
تُطِعْtuṭiʿyou obey
أَكْثَرَaktharamost
مَنmanof
فِىfī(those) in
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
يُضِلُّوكَyuḍillūkathey will mislead you
عَنʿanfrom
سَبِيلِsabīli(the) way
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allah
إِنinNot
يَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnathey follow
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلظَّنَّl-ẓana[the] assumption
وَإِنْwa-inand not
هُمْhumthey (do)
إِلَّاillāexcept
يَخْرُصُونَyakhruṣūnaguess
١١٦(116)
And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allāh. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but misjudging.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
هُوَhuwaHe
أَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows best
مَنmanwho
يَضِلُّyaḍillustrays
عَنʿanfrom
سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖsabīlihiHis way
وَهُوَwahuwaand He
أَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowing
بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَbil-muh'tadīnaof the guided-ones
١١٧(117)
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

فَكُلُوا۟fakulūSo eat
مِمَّاmimmāof what
ذُكِرَdhukira(is) mentioned
ٱسْمُus'mu(the) name
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion it
إِنinif
كُنتُمkuntumyou are
بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦbiāyātihiin His Verses
مُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
١١٨(118)
So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allāh has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses [i.e., revealed law].

وَمَاwamāAnd what
لَكُمْlakumfor you
أَلَّاallāthat not
تَأْكُلُوا۟takulūyou eat
مِمَّاmimmāof what
ذُكِرَdhukirahas been mentioned
ٱسْمُus'mu(the) name
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion it
وَقَدْwaqadwhen indeed
فَصَّلَfaṣṣalaHe (has) explained in detail
لَكُمlakumto you
مَّاmāwhat
حَرَّمَḥarramaHe (has) forbidden
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto you
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat
ٱضْطُرِرْتُمْuḍ'ṭurir'tumyou are compelled
إِلَيْهِ ۗilayhito it
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmany
لَّيُضِلُّونَlayuḍillūnasurely lead astray
بِأَهْوَآئِهِمbi-ahwāihimby their (vain) desires
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
عِلْمٍ ۗʿil'minknowledge
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
هُوَhuwaHe
أَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowing
بِٱلْمُعْتَدِينَbil-muʿ'tadīnaof the transgressors
١١٩(119)
And why should you not eat of that upon which the name of Allāh has been mentioned while He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, excepting that to which you are compelled. And indeed do many lead [others] astray through their [own] inclinations without knowledge. Indeed, your Lord - He is most knowing of the transgressors.

وَذَرُوا۟wadharūForsake
ظَـٰهِرَẓāhiraopen
ٱلْإِثْمِl-ith'mi[the] sins
وَبَاطِنَهُۥٓ ۚwabāṭinahuand the secret
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
ٱلْإِثْمَl-ith'ma[the] sin
سَيُجْزَوْنَsayuj'zawnathey will be recompensed
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَقْتَرِفُونَyaqtarifūnacommit
١٢٠(120)
And leave [i.e., desist from] what is apparent of sin and what is concealed thereof. Indeed, those who earn [blame for] sin will be recompensed for that which they used to commit.

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَأْكُلُوا۟takulūeat
مِمَّاmimmāof that
لَمْlamnot
يُذْكَرِyudh'karihas been mentioned
ٱسْمُus'mu(the) name
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِʿalayhion it
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuand indeed, it (is)
لَفِسْقٌۭ ۗlafis'qungrave disobedience
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَl-shayāṭīnathe devils
لَيُوحُونَlayūḥūnainspire
إِلَىٰٓilāto
أَوْلِيَآئِهِمْawliyāihimtheir friends
لِيُجَـٰدِلُوكُمْ ۖliyujādilūkumso that they dispute with you
وَإِنْwa-inand if
أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْaṭaʿtumūhumyou obey them
إِنَّكُمْinnakumindeed, you
لَمُشْرِكُونَlamush'rikūna(would) be the polytheists
١٢١(121)
And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allāh has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience. And indeed do the devils inspire their allies [among men] to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you would be associators [of others with Him].

أَوَمَنawamanIs (one) who
كَانَkānawas
مَيْتًۭاmaytandead
فَأَحْيَيْنَـٰهُfa-aḥyaynāhuand We gave him life
وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We made
لَهُۥlahufor him
نُورًۭاnūranlight
يَمْشِىyamshīhe walks
بِهِۦbihiwhereby
فِىfīamong
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe people
كَمَنkamanlike (one) who
مَّثَلُهُۥmathaluhu[similar to him]
فِىfī(is) in
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِl-ẓulumātithe darknesses
لَيْسَlaysanot
بِخَارِجٍۢbikhārijinhe comes out
مِّنْهَا ۚmin'hāof it
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
زُيِّنَzuyyinais made fair-seeming
لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīnato the disbelievers
مَاmāwhat
كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoing
١٢٢(122)
And is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him light by which to walk among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom? Thus it has been made pleasing to the disbelievers that which they were doing.

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
جَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe placed
فِىfīin
كُلِّkullievery
قَرْيَةٍqaryatincity
أَكَـٰبِرَakābiragreatest
مُجْرِمِيهَاmuj'rimīhā(of) its criminals
لِيَمْكُرُوا۟liyamkurūso that they plot
فِيهَا ۖfīhātherein
وَمَاwamāAnd not
يَمْكُرُونَyamkurūnathey plot
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِأَنفُسِهِمْbi-anfusihimagainst themselves
وَمَاwamāand not
يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceive
١٢٣(123)
And thus We have placed within every city the greatest of its criminals to conspire therein. But they conspire not except against themselves, and they perceive [it] not.

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
جَآءَتْهُمْjāathumcomes to them
ءَايَةٌۭāyatuna Sign
قَالُوا۟qālūthey say
لَنlanNever
نُّؤْمِنَnu'minawe will believe
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
نُؤْتَىٰnu'tāwe are given
مِثْلَmith'lalike
مَآmāwhat
أُوتِىَūtiyawas given
رُسُلُrusulu(to the) Messengers
ٱللَّهِ ۘl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
أَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows best
حَيْثُḥaythuwhere
يَجْعَلُyajʿaluHe places
رِسَالَتَهُۥ ۗrisālatahuHis Message
سَيُصِيبُsayuṣībuWill afflict
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
أَجْرَمُوا۟ajramūcommitted crimes
صَغَارٌṣaghāruna humiliation
عِندَʿindafrom
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
وَعَذَابٌۭwaʿadhābunand a punishment
شَدِيدٌۢshadīdunsevere
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَمْكُرُونَyamkurūnaplot
١٢٤(124)
And when a sign comes to them, they say, "Never will we believe until we are given like that which was given to the messengers of Allāh." Allāh is most knowing of where [i.e., with whom] He places His message. There will afflict those who committed crimes debasement before Allāh and severe punishment for what they used to conspire.

فَمَنfamanSo whoever
يُرِدِyuridiwants
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
أَنanthat
يَهْدِيَهُۥyahdiyahuHe guides him
يَشْرَحْyashraḥHe expands
صَدْرَهُۥṣadrahuhis breast
لِلْإِسْلَـٰمِ ۖlil'is'lāmito Islam
وَمَنwamanand whoever
يُرِدْyuridHe wants
أَنanthat
يُضِلَّهُۥyuḍillahuHe lets him go astray
يَجْعَلْyajʿalHe makes
صَدْرَهُۥṣadrahuhis breast
ضَيِّقًاḍayyiqantight
حَرَجًۭاḥarajanand constricted
كَأَنَّمَاka-annamāas though
يَصَّعَّدُyaṣṣaʿʿaduhe (were) climbing
فِىfīinto
ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۚl-samāithe sky
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThus
يَجْعَلُyajʿaluplaces
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
ٱلرِّجْسَl-rij'sathe filth
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
١٢٥(125)
So whoever Allāh wants to guide - He expands his breast to [contain] Islām; and whoever He wants to send astray - He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allāh place defilement upon those who do not believe.

وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāAnd this
صِرَٰطُṣirāṭu(is the) way
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
مُسْتَقِيمًۭا ۗmus'taqīmanstraight
قَدْqadCertainly
فَصَّلْنَاfaṣṣalnāWe have detailed
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِl-āyātithe Verses
لِقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
يَذَّكَّرُونَyadhakkarūnawho take heed
١٢٦(126)
And this is the path of your Lord, [leading] straight. We have detailed the verses for a people who remember.

۞ لَهُمْlahumFor them
دَارُdāru(will be) home
ٱلسَّلَـٰمِl-salāmi(of) [the] peace
عِندَʿindawith
رَبِّهِمْ ۖrabbihimtheir Lord
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
وَلِيُّهُمwaliyyuhum(will be) their protecting friend
بِمَاbimābecause
كَانُوا۟kānū(of what) they used to
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
١٢٧(127)
For them will be the Home of Peace [i.e., Paradise] with their Lord. And He will be their protecting friend because of what they used to do.

وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Day
يَحْشُرُهُمْyaḥshuruhumHe will gather them
جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall
يَـٰمَعْشَرَyāmaʿshara(and will say), "O assembly
ٱلْجِنِّl-jini(of) [the] jinn
قَدِqadiCertainly
ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُمis'takthartumyou have (misled) many
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْإِنسِ ۖl-insithe mankind
وَقَالَwaqālaAnd will say
أَوْلِيَآؤُهُمawliyāuhumtheir friends
مِّنَminaamong
ٱلْإِنسِl-insithe men
رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord
ٱسْتَمْتَعَis'tamtaʿaprofited
بَعْضُنَاbaʿḍunāsome of us
بِبَعْضٍۢbibaʿḍinby others
وَبَلَغْنَآwabalaghnāand we have reached
أَجَلَنَاajalanāour term
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīwhich
أَجَّلْتَajjaltaYou appointed
لَنَا ۚlanāfor us
قَالَqālaHe will say
ٱلنَّارُl-nāruThe Fire
مَثْوَىٰكُمْmathwākum(is) your abode
خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīnawill abide forever
فِيهَآfīhāin it
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmā(for) what
شَآءَshāawills
ٱللَّهُ ۗl-lahuAllah
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
حَكِيمٌḥakīmun(is) All-Wise
عَلِيمٌۭʿalīmunAll-Knowing
١٢٨(128)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term which You appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allāh wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing."

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thus
نُوَلِّىnuwallīWe make friends
بَعْضَbaʿḍasome (of)
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
بَعْضًۢاbaʿḍan(to) others
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
١٢٩(129)
And thus will We make some of the wrongdoers allies of others for what they used to earn.

يَـٰمَعْشَرَyāmaʿsharaO assembly
ٱلْجِنِّl-jini(of) [the] jinn
وَٱلْإِنسِwal-insiand [the] men
أَلَمْalamDid (there) not
يَأْتِكُمْyatikumcome to you
رُسُلٌۭrusulunMessengers
مِّنكُمْminkumfrom (among) you
يَقُصُّونَyaquṣṣūnarelating
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto you
ءَايَـٰتِىāyātīMy Verses
وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْwayundhirūnakumand warning you
لِقَآءَliqāa(of the) meeting
يَوْمِكُمْyawmikum(of) your day
هَـٰذَا ۚhādhāthis
قَالُوا۟qālūThey will say
شَهِدْنَاshahid'nāWe bear witness
عَلَىٰٓʿalāagainst
أَنفُسِنَا ۖanfusināourselves
وَغَرَّتْهُمُwagharrathumuAnd deluded them
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُl-ḥayatuthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَشَهِدُوا۟washahidūand they will bear witness
عَلَىٰٓʿalāagainst
أَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselves
أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
كَانُوا۟kānūwere
كَـٰفِرِينَkāfirīnadisbelievers
١٣٠(130)
"O company of jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "We bear witness against ourselves"; and the worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat (is because)
أَنan[that]
لَّمْlamnot
يَكُنyakunis
رَّبُّكَrabbukayour Lord
مُهْلِكَmuh'likaone who destroys
ٱلْقُرَىٰl-qurāthe cities
بِظُلْمٍۢbiẓul'minfor (their) wrongdoing
وَأَهْلُهَاwa-ahluhāwhile their people
غَـٰفِلُونَghāfilūna(are) unaware
١٣١(131)
That is because your Lord would not destroy the cities for wrongdoing while their people were unaware.

وَلِكُلٍّۢwalikullinAnd for all
دَرَجَـٰتٌۭdarajātun(will be) degrees
مِّمَّاmimmāfor what
عَمِلُوا۟ ۚʿamilūthey did
وَمَاwamāAnd not
رَبُّكَrabbuka(is) your Lord
بِغَـٰفِلٍbighāfilinunaware
عَمَّاʿammāabout what
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do
١٣٢(132)
And for all are degrees [i.e., positions resulting] from what they have done. And your Lord is not unaware of what they do.

وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaAnd your Lord
ٱلْغَنِىُّl-ghaniyu(is) the Self-Sufficient
ذُوdhū(the) Possessor
ٱلرَّحْمَةِ ۚl-raḥmati(of) mercy
إِنinIf
يَشَأْyashaHe wills
يُذْهِبْكُمْyudh'hib'kumHe can take you away
وَيَسْتَخْلِفْwayastakhlifand grant succession
مِنۢminfrom
بَعْدِكُمbaʿdikumafter you
مَّاmā(to) whom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
كَمَآkamāas
أَنشَأَكُمansha-akumHe raised you
مِّنminfrom
ذُرِّيَّةِdhurriyyatithe descendants
قَوْمٍqawmin(of) people
ءَاخَرِينَākharīnaother
١٣٣(133)
And your Lord is the Free of need, the possessor of mercy. If He wills, He can do away with you and give succession after you to whomever He wills, just as He produced you from the descendants of another people.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
مَاmāwhat
تُوعَدُونَtūʿadūnayou are promised
لَـَٔاتٍۢ ۖlaātin(is) sure to come
وَمَآwamāAnd not
أَنتُمantum(can) you
بِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīnaescape (it)
١٣٤(134)
Indeed, what you are promised is coming, and you will not cause failure [to Allāh].

قُلْqulSay
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
ٱعْمَلُوا۟iʿ'malūWork
عَلَىٰʿalāon
مَكَانَتِكُمْmakānatikumyour position
إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I am
عَامِلٌۭ ۖʿāmiluna worker
فَسَوْفَfasawfaAnd soon
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
مَنmanwho
تَكُونُtakūnuwill have
لَهُۥlahufor himself
عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(in) the end
ٱلدَّارِ ۗl-dāri(a good) home
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed [he]
لَاlā(will) not
يُفْلِحُyuf'liḥusucceed
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
١٣٥(135)
Say, "O my people, work according to your position; [for] indeed, I am working. And you are going to know who will have succession in the home. Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed."

وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalūAnd they assign
لِلَّهِlillahito Allah
مِمَّاmimmāout of what
ذَرَأَdhara-aHe produced
مِنَminaof
ٱلْحَرْثِl-ḥarthithe crops
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِwal-anʿāmiand the cattle
نَصِيبًۭاnaṣībana share
فَقَالُوا۟faqālūand they say
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
لِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allah
بِزَعْمِهِمْbizaʿmihimby their claim
وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāAnd this
لِشُرَكَآئِنَا ۖlishurakāinā(is) for our partners
فَمَاfamāBut what
كَانَkānais
لِشُرَكَآئِهِمْlishurakāihimfor their partners
فَلَاfalā(does) not
يَصِلُyaṣilureach
إِلَىilā[to]
ٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahiAllah
وَمَاwamāwhile what
كَانَkānais
لِلَّهِlillahifor Allah
فَهُوَfahuwathen it
يَصِلُyaṣilureaches
إِلَىٰilā[to]
شُرَكَآئِهِمْ ۗshurakāihimtheir partners
سَآءَsāaEvil
مَاmā(is) what
يَحْكُمُونَyaḥkumūnathey judge
١٣٦(136)
And they [i.e., the polytheists] assign to Allāh from that which He created of crops and livestock a share and say, "This is for Allāh," by their claim, "and this is for our 'partners' [associated with Him]." But what is for their "partners" does not reach Allāh, while what is for Allāh - this reaches their "partners." Evil is that which they rule.

وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd likewise
زَيَّنَzayyanamade pleasing
لِكَثِيرٍۢlikathīrinto many
مِّنَminaof
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
قَتْلَqatla(the) killing
أَوْلَـٰدِهِمْawlādihim(of) their children
شُرَكَآؤُهُمْshurakāuhumtheir partners
لِيُرْدُوهُمْliyur'dūhumso that they may ruin them
وَلِيَلْبِسُوا۟waliyalbisūand that they make confusing
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
دِينَهُمْ ۖdīnahumtheir religion
وَلَوْwalawAnd if
شَآءَshāa(had) willed
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
مَاmānot
فَعَلُوهُ ۖfaʿalūhu(would) they have done so
فَذَرْهُمْfadharhumSo leave them
وَمَاwamāand what
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnathey invent
١٣٧(137)
And likewise, to many of the polytheists their partners have made [to seem] pleasing the killing of their children in order to bring about their destruction and to cover them with confusion in their religion. And if Allāh had willed, they would not have done so. So leave them and that which they invent.

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they say
هَـٰذِهِۦٓhādhihiThese
أَنْعَـٰمٌۭanʿāmun(are) cattle
وَحَرْثٌwaḥarthunand crops
حِجْرٌۭḥij'runforbidden
لَّاlāno (one)
يَطْعَمُهَآyaṭʿamuhācan eat them
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَنmanwhom
نَّشَآءُnashāuwe will
بِزَعْمِهِمْbizaʿmihimby their claim
وَأَنْعَـٰمٌwa-anʿāmunAnd cattle
حُرِّمَتْḥurrimatforbidden
ظُهُورُهَاẓuhūruhā(are) their backs
وَأَنْعَـٰمٌۭwa-anʿāmunand cattle
لَّاlānot
يَذْكُرُونَyadhkurūnathey mention
ٱسْمَis'ma(the) name
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāon it
ٱفْتِرَآءًif'tirāan(as) an invention
عَلَيْهِ ۚʿalayhiagainst Him
سَيَجْزِيهِمsayajzīhimHe will recompense them
بِمَاbimāfor what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
١٣٨(138)
And they say, "These animals and crops are forbidden; no one may eat from them except whom we will," by their claim. And there are those [camels] whose backs are forbidden [by them] and those upon which the name of Allāh is not mentioned - [all of this] an invention of untruth about Him. He will punish them for what they were inventing.

وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they say
مَاmāWhat
فِىfī(is) in
بُطُونِbuṭūni(the) wombs
هَـٰذِهِhādhihi(of) these
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِl-anʿāmicattle
خَالِصَةٌۭkhāliṣatun(is) exclusively
لِّذُكُورِنَاlidhukūrināfor our males
وَمُحَرَّمٌwamuḥarramunand forbidden
عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
أَزْوَٰجِنَا ۖazwājināour spouses
وَإِنwa-inBut if
يَكُنyakunis
مَّيْتَةًۭmaytatan(born) dead
فَهُمْfahumthen they (all)
فِيهِfīhiin it
شُرَكَآءُ ۚshurakāu(are) partners
سَيَجْزِيهِمْsayajzīhimHe will recompense them
وَصْفَهُمْ ۚwaṣfahum(for) their attribution
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
حَكِيمٌḥakīmun(is) All-Wise
عَلِيمٌۭʿalīmunAll-Knowing
١٣٩(139)
And they say, "What is in the bellies of these animals is exclusively for our males and forbidden to our females. But if it is [born] dead, then all of them have shares therein." He will punish them for their description. Indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.

قَدْqadCertainly
خَسِرَkhasira(are) lost
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
قَتَلُوٓا۟qatalūkilled
أَوْلَـٰدَهُمْawlādahumtheir children
سَفَهًۢاsafahan(in) foolishness
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
عِلْمٍۢʿil'minknowledge
وَحَرَّمُوا۟waḥarramūand forbid
مَاmāwhat
رَزَقَهُمُrazaqahumu(bas been) provided (to) them
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
ٱفْتِرَآءًif'tirāaninventing (lies)
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllah
قَدْqadCertainly
ضَلُّوا۟ḍallūthey have gone astray
وَمَاwamāand not
كَانُوا۟kānūthey are
مُهْتَدِينَmuh'tadīnaguided-ones
١٤٠(140)
They will have lost who killed their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited what Allāh had provided for them, inventing untruth about Allāh. They have gone astray and were not [rightly] guided.

۞ وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One Who
أَنشَأَansha-aproduced
جَنَّـٰتٍۢjannātingardens
مَّعْرُوشَـٰتٍۢmaʿrūshātintrellised
وَغَيْرَwaghayraand other than
مَعْرُوشَـٰتٍۢmaʿrūshātintrellised
وَٱلنَّخْلَwal-nakhlaand the date-palm
وَٱلزَّرْعَwal-zarʿaand the crops
مُخْتَلِفًاmukh'talifandiverse
أُكُلُهُۥukuluhu(are) its taste
وَٱلزَّيْتُونَwal-zaytūnaand the olives
وَٱلرُّمَّانَwal-rumānaand the pomegranates
مُتَشَـٰبِهًۭاmutashābihansimilar
وَغَيْرَwaghayraand other than
مُتَشَـٰبِهٍۢ ۚmutashābihinsimilar
كُلُوا۟kulūEat
مِنminof
ثَمَرِهِۦٓthamarihiits fruit
إِذَآidhāwhen
أَثْمَرَathmarait bears fruit
وَءَاتُوا۟waātūand give
حَقَّهُۥḥaqqahuits due
يَوْمَyawma(on the) day
حَصَادِهِۦ ۖḥaṣādihi(of) its harvest
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تُسْرِفُوٓا۟ ۚtus'rifū(be) extravagant
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
لَاlā(does) not
يُحِبُّyuḥibbulove
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَl-mus'rifīnathe ones who are extravagant
١٤١(141)
And He it is who causes gardens to grow, [both] trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and crops of different [kinds of] food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of [each of] its fruit when it yields and give its due [zakāh] on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess.

وَمِنَwaminaAnd of
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِl-anʿāmithe cattle
حَمُولَةًۭḥamūlatan(are some for) burden
وَفَرْشًۭا ۚwafarshanand (some for) meat
كُلُوا۟kulūEat
مِمَّاmimmāof what
رَزَقَكُمُrazaqakumu(has been) provided (to) you
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَتَّبِعُوا۟tattabiʿūfollow
خُطُوَٰتِkhuṭuwāti(the) footsteps
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚl-shayṭāni(of) Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
لَكُمْlakum(is) to you
عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwunan enemy
مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunopen
١٤٢(142)
And of the grazing livestock are carriers [of burdens] and those [too] small. Eat of what Allāh has provided for you and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.

ثَمَـٰنِيَةَthamāniyataEight
أَزْوَٰجٍۢ ۖazwājinpairs
مِّنَminaof
ٱلضَّأْنِl-ḍanithe sheep
ٱثْنَيْنِith'naynitwo
وَمِنَwaminaand of
ٱلْمَعْزِl-maʿzithe goats
ٱثْنَيْنِ ۗith'naynitwo
قُلْqulSay
ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِāldhakarayni(Are) the two males
حَرَّمَḥarramaHe has forbidden
أَمِamior
ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِl-unthayaynithe two females
أَمَّاammāor what
ٱشْتَمَلَتْish'tamalatcontains
عَلَيْهِʿalayhi[in it]
أَرْحَامُarḥāmu(the) wombs
ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖl-unthayayni(of) the two females
نَبِّـُٔونِىnabbiūnīInform me
بِعِلْمٍbiʿil'minwith knowledge
إِنinif
كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
١٤٣(143)
[They are] eight mates - of the sheep, two and of the goats, two. Say, "Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you should be truthful."

وَمِنَwaminaAnd of
ٱلْإِبِلِl-ibilithe camels
ٱثْنَيْنِith'naynitwo
وَمِنَwaminaand of
ٱلْبَقَرِl-baqarithe cows
ٱثْنَيْنِ ۗith'naynitwo
قُلْqulSay
ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِāldhakarayni(Is it) the two males
حَرَّمَḥarramaHe (has) forbidden
أَمِamior
ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِl-unthayaynithe two females
أَمَّاammāor what
ٱشْتَمَلَتْish'tamalatcontains
عَلَيْهِʿalayhi[in it]
أَرْحَامُarḥāmu(the) wombs
ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖl-unthayayni(of) the two females
أَمْamOr
كُنتُمْkuntumwere you
شُهَدَآءَshuhadāawitnesses
إِذْidhwhen
وَصَّىٰكُمُwaṣṣākumuenjoined you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
بِهَـٰذَا ۚbihādhāwith this
فَمَنْfamanThen who
أَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰif'tarāinvents
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
كَذِبًۭاkadhibana lie
لِّيُضِلَّliyuḍillato mislead
ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe people
بِغَيْرِbighayriwithout
عِلْمٍ ۗʿil'minknowledge
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
لَاlā(does) not
يَهْدِىyahdīguide
ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoing
١٤٤(144)
And of the camels, two and of the cattle, two. Say, "Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when Allāh charged you with this? Then who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allāh to mislead the people by [something] other than knowledge? Indeed, Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people."

قُلqulSay
لَّآlāNot
أَجِدُajidu(do) I find
فِىfīin
مَآmāwhat
أُوحِىَūḥiyahas been revealed
إِلَىَّilayyato me
مُحَرَّمًاmuḥarraman(anything) forbidden
عَلَىٰʿalāto
طَاعِمٍۢṭāʿiminan eater
يَطْعَمُهُۥٓyaṭʿamuhuwho eats it
إِلَّآillāexcept
أَنanthat
يَكُونَyakūnait be
مَيْتَةًmaytatandead
أَوْawor
دَمًۭاdamanblood
مَّسْفُوحًاmasfūḥanpoured forth
أَوْawor
لَحْمَlaḥma(the) flesh
خِنزِيرٍۢkhinzīrin(of) swine
فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahufor indeed, it
رِجْسٌrij'sun(is) filth
أَوْawor
فِسْقًاfis'qan(it be) disobedience
أُهِلَّuhilla[is] dedicated
لِغَيْرِlighayrito other than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
بِهِۦ ۚbihi[on it]
فَمَنِfamaniBut whoever
ٱضْطُرَّuḍ'ṭurra(is) compelled
غَيْرَghayranot
بَاغٍۢbāghindesiring
وَلَاwalāand not
عَادٍۢʿādintransgressing
فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
غَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭraḥīmunMost Merciful
١٤٥(145)
Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine - for indeed, it is impure - or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allāh. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."

وَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd to
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
هَادُوا۟hādūare Jews
حَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāWe forbade
كُلَّkullaevery
ذِىdhī(animal) with
ظُفُرٍۢ ۖẓufurinclaws
وَمِنَwaminaand of
ٱلْبَقَرِl-baqarithe cows
وَٱلْغَنَمِwal-ghanamiand the sheep
حَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāWe forbade
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
شُحُومَهُمَآshuḥūmahumātheir fat
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat
حَمَلَتْḥamalatcarried
ظُهُورُهُمَآẓuhūruhumātheir backs
أَوِawior
ٱلْحَوَايَآl-ḥawāyāthe entrails
أَوْawor
مَاmāwhat
ٱخْتَلَطَikh'talaṭa(is) joined
بِعَظْمٍۢ ۚbiʿaẓminwith the bone
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
جَزَيْنَـٰهُمjazaynāhum(is) their recompense
بِبَغْيِهِمْ ۖbibaghyihimfor their rebellion
وَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, We
لَصَـٰدِقُونَlaṣādiqūna[surely] are truthful
١٤٦(146)
And to those who are Jews We prohibited every animal of uncloven hoof; and of the cattle and the sheep We prohibited to them their fat, except what adheres to their backs or the entrails or what is joined with bone. [By] that We repaid them for their transgression. And indeed, We are truthful.

فَإِنfa-inBut if
كَذَّبُوكَkadhabūkathey deny you
فَقُلfaqulthen say
رَّبُّكُمْrabbukumYour Lord
ذُوdhū(is the) Possessor
رَحْمَةٍۢraḥmatin(of) Mercy
وَٰسِعَةٍۢwāsiʿatinVast
وَلَاwalābut not
يُرَدُّyuradduwill be turned back
بَأْسُهُۥbasuhuHis wrath
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna(who are) criminals
١٤٧(147)
So if they deny you, [O Muḥammad], say, "Your Lord is the possessor of vast mercy; but His punishment cannot be repelled from the people who are criminals."

سَيَقُولُsayaqūluWill say
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
أَشْرَكُوا۟ashrakūassociate partners (with Allah)
لَوْlawIf
شَآءَshāaHad willed
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
مَآmānot
أَشْرَكْنَاashraknāwe (would) have associated partners (with Allah)
وَلَآwalāand not
ءَابَآؤُنَاābāunāour forefathers
وَلَاwalāand not
حَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāwe (would) have forbidden
مِنmin[of]
شَىْءٍۢ ۚshayinanything
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaLikewise
كَذَّبَkadhabadenied
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
مِنmin(were from)
قَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore them
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
ذَاقُوا۟dhāqūthey tasted
بَأْسَنَا ۗbasanāOur wrath
قُلْqulSay
هَلْhalIs
عِندَكُمʿindakumwith you
مِّنْmin[of]
عِلْمٍۢʿil'minany knowledge
فَتُخْرِجُوهُfatukh'rijūhuthen produce it
لَنَآ ۖlanāfor us
إِنinNot
تَتَّبِعُونَtattabiʿūnayou follow
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱلظَّنَّl-ẓanathe assumption
وَإِنْwa-inand not
أَنتُمْantumyou (do)
إِلَّاillābut
تَخْرُصُونَtakhruṣūnaguess
١٤٨(148)
Those who associated [others] with Allāh will say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have associated [anything] and neither would our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything." Likewise did those before deny until they tasted Our punishment. Say, "Do you have any knowledge that you can produce for us? You follow not except assumption, and you are not but misjudging."

قُلْqulSay
فَلِلَّهِfalillahiWith Allah
ٱلْحُجَّةُl-ḥujatu(is) the argument
ٱلْبَـٰلِغَةُ ۖl-bālighatuthe conclusive
فَلَوْfalawAnd if
شَآءَshāaHe (had) willed
لَهَدَىٰكُمْlahadākumsurely He (would) have guided you
أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
١٤٩(149)
Say, "With Allāh is the far-reaching [i.e., conclusive] argument. If He had willed, He would have guided you all."

قُلْqulSay
هَلُمَّhalummaBring forward
شُهَدَآءَكُمُshuhadāakumuyour witnesses
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَشْهَدُونَyashhadūnatestify
أَنَّannathat
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
حَرَّمَḥarramaprohibited
هَـٰذَا ۖhādhāthis
فَإِنfa-inThen if
شَهِدُوا۟shahidūthey testify
فَلَاfalāthen (do) not
تَشْهَدْtashhadtestify
مَعَهُمْ ۚmaʿahumwith them
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَتَّبِعْtattabiʿfollow
أَهْوَآءَahwāa(the) desires
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdenied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signs
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
لَاlā(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
وَهُمwahumwhile they
بِرَبِّهِمْbirabbihimwith their Lord
يَعْدِلُونَyaʿdilūnaset up equals
١٥٠(150)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Bring forward your witnesses who will testify that Allāh has prohibited this." And if they testify, do not testify with them. And do not follow the desires of those who deny Our verses and those who do not believe in the Hereafter, while they equate [others] with their Lord.

۞ قُلْqulSay
تَعَالَوْا۟taʿālawCome
أَتْلُatluI will recite
مَاmāwhat
حَرَّمَḥarramahas prohibited
رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lord
عَلَيْكُمْ ۖʿalaykumto you
أَلَّاallāThat (do) not
تُشْرِكُوا۟tush'rikūassociate
بِهِۦbihiwith Him
شَيْـًۭٔا ۖshayananything
وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِwabil-wālidayniand with the parents
إِحْسَـٰنًۭا ۖiḥ'sānan(be) good
وَلَاwalāand (do) not
تَقْتُلُوٓا۟taqtulūkill
أَوْلَـٰدَكُمawlādakumyour children
مِّنْmin(out) of
إِمْلَـٰقٍۢ ۖim'lāqinpoverty
نَّحْنُnaḥnuWe
نَرْزُقُكُمْnarzuqukumprovide for you
وَإِيَّاهُمْ ۖwa-iyyāhumand for them
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَقْرَبُوا۟taqrabūgo near
ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَl-fawāḥisha[the] immoralities
مَاmāwhat
ظَهَرَẓahara(is) apparent
مِنْهَاmin'hāof them
وَمَاwamāand what
بَطَنَ ۖbaṭana(is) concealed
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَقْتُلُوا۟taqtulūkill
ٱلنَّفْسَl-nafsathe soul
ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
حَرَّمَḥarramahas (been) forbidden
ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚbil-ḥaqiby (legal) right
ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThat
وَصَّىٰكُمwaṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on you
بِهِۦbihiwith it
لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnause reason
١٥١(151)
Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allāh has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."

وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَقْرَبُوا۟taqrabūgo near
مَالَmālawealth
ٱلْيَتِيمِl-yatīmi(of) the orphans
إِلَّاillāexcept
بِٱلَّتِىbi-allatīwith that
هِىَhiyawhich
أَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) best
حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
يَبْلُغَyablughahe reaches
أَشُدَّهُۥ ۖashuddahuhis maturity
وَأَوْفُوا۟wa-awfūAnd give full
ٱلْكَيْلَl-kayla[the] measure
وَٱلْمِيزَانَwal-mīzānaand the weight
بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۖbil-qis'ṭiwith justice
لَاlāNot
نُكَلِّفُnukallifuWe burden
نَفْسًاnafsanany soul
إِلَّاillāexcept
وُسْعَهَا ۖwus'ʿahā(to) its capacity
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
قُلْتُمْqul'tumyou speak
فَٱعْدِلُوا۟fa-iʿ'dilūthen be just
وَلَوْwalaweven if
كَانَkānahe is
ذَاdhā(one of)
قُرْبَىٰ ۖqur'bāa near relative
وَبِعَهْدِwabiʿahdiAnd (the) Covenant
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
أَوْفُوا۟ ۚawfūfulfil
ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThat
وَصَّىٰكُمwaṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on you
بِهِۦbihiwith it
لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnaremember
١٥٢(152)
And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best [i.e., intending improvement] until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you speak [i.e., testify], be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allāh fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.

وَأَنَّwa-annaAnd that
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
صِرَٰطِىṣirāṭī(is) My path
مُسْتَقِيمًۭاmus'taqīmanstraight
فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ ۖfa-ittabiʿūhuso follow it
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) not
تَتَّبِعُوا۟tattabiʿūfollow
ٱلسُّبُلَl-subulathe (other) paths
فَتَفَرَّقَfatafarraqathen they will separate
بِكُمْbikumyou
عَنʿanfrom
سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚsabīlihiHis path
ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThat
وَصَّىٰكُمwaṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on you
بِهِۦbihi[with it]
لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnabecome righteous
١٥٣(153)
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.

ثُمَّthummaMoreover
ءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gave
مُوسَىmūsāMusa
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
تَمَامًاtamāmancompleting (Our Favor)
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīthe one who
أَحْسَنَaḥsanadid good
وَتَفْصِيلًۭاwatafṣīlanand an explanation
لِّكُلِّlikulliof every
شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
وَهُدًۭىwahudanand a guidance
وَرَحْمَةًۭwaraḥmatanand mercy
لَّعَلَّهُمlaʿallahumso that they may
بِلِقَآءِbiliqāiin (the) meeting
رَبِّهِمْrabbihim(with) their Lord
يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
١٥٤(154)
Then We gave Moses the Scripture, making complete [Our favor] upon the one who did good [i.e., Moses] and as a detailed explanation of all things and as guidance and mercy that perhaps in the meeting with their Lord they would believe.

وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāAnd this
كِتَـٰبٌkitābun(is) a Book
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُanzalnāhuWe have revealed it
مُبَارَكٌۭmubārakunblessed
فَٱتَّبِعُوهُfa-ittabiʿūhuso follow it
وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūand fear (Allah)
لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تُرْحَمُونَtur'ḥamūnareceive mercy
١٥٥(155)
And this [Qur’ān] is a Book We have revealed [which is] blessed, so follow it and fear Allāh that you may receive mercy.

أَنanLest
تَقُولُوٓا۟taqūlūyou say
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
أُنزِلَunzilawas revealed
ٱلْكِتَـٰبُl-kitābuthe Book
عَلَىٰʿalāon
طَآئِفَتَيْنِṭāifataynithe two groups
مِنminfrom
قَبْلِنَاqablinābefore us
وَإِنwa-inand indeed
كُنَّاkunnāwe were
عَنʿanabout
دِرَاسَتِهِمْdirāsatihimtheir study
لَغَـٰفِلِينَlaghāfilīnacertainly unaware
١٥٦(156)
[We revealed it] lest you say, "The Scripture was only sent down to two groups before us, but we were of their study unaware,"

أَوْawOr
تَقُولُوا۟taqūlūyou say
لَوْlawIf
أَنَّآannā[that]
أُنزِلَunzilawas revealed
عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāto us
ٱلْكِتَـٰبُl-kitābuthe Book
لَكُنَّآlakunnāsurely we (would) have been
أَهْدَىٰahdābetter guided
مِنْهُمْ ۚmin'humthan them
فَقَدْfaqadSo verily
جَآءَكُمjāakumhas come to you
بَيِّنَةٌۭbayyinatunclear proofs
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lord
وَهُدًۭىwahudanand a Guidance
وَرَحْمَةٌۭ ۚwaraḥmatunand a Mercy
فَمَنْfamanThen who
أَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنmimmanthan (he) who
كَذَّبَkadhabadenies
بِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyāti[with] (the) Verses
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَصَدَفَwaṣadafaand turns away
عَنْهَا ۗʿanhāfrom them
سَنَجْزِىsanajzīWe will recompense
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَصْدِفُونَyaṣdifūnaturn away
عَنْʿanfrom
ءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Signs
سُوٓءَsūa(with) an evil
ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābipunishment
بِمَاbimābecause
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَصْدِفُونَyaṣdifūnaturn away
١٥٧(157)
Or lest you say, "If only the Scripture had been revealed to us, we would have been better guided than they." So there has [now] come to you a clear evidence from your Lord and a guidance and mercy. Then who is more unjust than one who denies the verses of Allāh and turns away from them? We will recompense those who turn away from Our verses with the worst of punishment for their having turned away.

هَلْhalAre
يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnathey waiting
إِلَّآillāexcept
أَنanthat
تَأْتِيَهُمُtatiyahumucomes to them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angels
أَوْawor
يَأْتِىَyatiyacomes
رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord
أَوْawor
يَأْتِىَyatiyacomes
بَعْضُbaʿḍusome (of)
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّكَ ۗrabbika(of) your Lord
يَوْمَyawma(The) Day
يَأْتِىyatī(when) comes
بَعْضُbaʿḍusome (of)
ءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
لَاlānot
يَنفَعُyanfaʿuwill benefit
نَفْسًاnafsana soul
إِيمَـٰنُهَاīmānuhāits faith
لَمْlamnot
تَكُنْtakun(if) it had
ءَامَنَتْāmanatbelieved
مِنminfrom
قَبْلُqablubefore
أَوْawor
كَسَبَتْkasabatearned
فِىٓfīthrough
إِيمَـٰنِهَاīmānihāits faith
خَيْرًۭا ۗkhayranany good
قُلِquliSay
ٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟intaẓirūWait
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
مُنتَظِرُونَmuntaẓirūna(are) those who wait
١٥٨(158)
Do they [then] wait for anything except that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come or that there come some of the signs of your Lord? The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned through its faith some good. Say, "Wait. Indeed, we [also] are waiting."

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
فَرَّقُوا۟farraqūdivide
دِينَهُمْdīnahumtheir religion
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūand become
شِيَعًۭاshiyaʿansects
لَّسْتَlastayou are not
مِنْهُمْmin'humwith them
فِىfīin
شَىْءٍ ۚshayinanything
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnly
أَمْرُهُمْamruhumtheir affair
إِلَىilā(is) with
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
ثُمَّthummathen
يُنَبِّئُهُمyunabbi-uhumHe will inform them
بِمَاbimāof what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnado
١٥٩(159)
Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muḥammad], are not [associated] with them in anything. Their affair is only [left] to Allāh; then He will inform them about what they used to do.

مَنmanWhoever
جَآءَjāacame
بِٱلْحَسَنَةِbil-ḥasanatiwith a good deed
فَلَهُۥfalahuthen for him
عَشْرُʿashru(is) ten (times)
أَمْثَالِهَا ۖamthālihāthe like of it
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
جَآءَjāacame
بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِbil-sayi-atiwith an evil deed
فَلَاfalāthen not
يُجْزَىٰٓyuj'zāhe will be recompensed
إِلَّاillāexcept
مِثْلَهَاmith'lahāthe like of it
وَهُمْwahumand they
لَاlāwill not
يُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūna(be) wronged
١٦٠(160)
Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit], and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof; and they will not be wronged.

قُلْqulSay
إِنَّنِىinnanīIndeed (as for) me
هَدَىٰنِىhadānīhas guided me
رَبِّىٓrabbīmy Lord
إِلَىٰilāto
صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭina path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīminstraight
دِينًۭاdīnana religion
قِيَمًۭاqiyamanright
مِّلَّةَmillatareligion
إِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahim
حَنِيفًۭا ۚḥanīfana true monotheist
وَمَاwamāAnd not
كَانَkānahe was
مِنَminafrom
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
١٦١(161)
Say, "Indeed, my Lord has guided me to a straight path - a correct religion - the way of Abraham, inclining toward truth. And he was not among those who associated others with Allāh."

قُلْqulSay
إِنَّinnaIndeed
صَلَاتِىṣalātīmy prayer
وَنُسُكِىwanusukīand my rites of sacrifice
وَمَحْيَاىَwamaḥyāyaand my living
وَمَمَاتِىwamamātīand my dying
لِلَّهِlillahi(are) for Allah
رَبِّrabbiLord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
١٦٢(162)
Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allāh, Lord of the worlds.

لَاlāNo
شَرِيكَsharīkapartners
لَهُۥ ۖlahufor Him
وَبِذَٰلِكَwabidhālikaand with that
أُمِرْتُumir'tuI have been commanded
وَأَنَا۠wa-anāAnd I am
أَوَّلُawwalu(the) first
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīna(of) the ones who surrender (to Him)
١٦٣(163)
No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims."

قُلْqulSay
أَغَيْرَaghayraIs (it) other than
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
أَبْغِىabghīI (should) seek
رَبًّۭاrabban(as) a Lord
وَهُوَwahuwawhile He
رَبُّrabbu(is) the Lord
كُلِّkulli(of) every
شَىْءٍۢ ۚshayinthing
وَلَاwalāAnd not
تَكْسِبُtaksibuearns
كُلُّkulluevery
نَفْسٍnafsinsoul
إِلَّاillāexcept
عَلَيْهَا ۚʿalayhāagainst itself
وَلَاwalāand not
تَزِرُtazirubears
وَازِرَةٌۭwāziratunany bearer of burden
وِزْرَwiz'raburden
أُخْرَىٰ ۚukh'rā(of) another
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّكُمrabbikumyour Lord
مَّرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your return
فَيُنَبِّئُكُمfayunabbi-ukumthen He will inform you
بِمَاbimāabout what
كُنتُمْkuntumyou were
فِيهِfīhiconcerning it
تَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnadiffering
١٦٤(164)
Say, "Is it other than Allāh I should desire as a lord while He is the Lord of all things? And every soul earns not [blame] except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."

وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَكُمْjaʿalakum(has) made you
خَلَـٰٓئِفَkhalāifasuccessors
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the earth
وَرَفَعَwarafaʿaand raised
بَعْضَكُمْbaʿḍakumsome of you
فَوْقَfawqaabove
بَعْضٍۢbaʿḍinothers
دَرَجَـٰتٍۢdarajātin(in) ranks
لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْliyabluwakumso that He may test you
فِىfīin
مَآmāwhat
ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۗātākumHe has given you
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
سَرِيعُsarīʿu(is) swift
ٱلْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) the punishment
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuand indeed, He (is)
لَغَفُورٌۭlaghafūrun[certainly], Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۢraḥīmunMost Merciful
١٦٥(165)
And it is He who has made you successors upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees [of rank] that He may try you through what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.
