ٱلْحَمْدُ
al-ḥamdu(All) the praises and thanks
لِلَّهِ
lillahi(be) to Allah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīthe One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿalaand made
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ
l-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]
وَٱلنُّورَ ۖ
wal-nūraand the light
ثُمَّ
thummaThen
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
بِرَبِّهِمْ
birabbihimin their Lord
يَعْدِلُونَ
yaʿdilūnaequate others with Him
١
(1)
[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Then those who disbelieve equate [others] with their Lord.

هُوَ
huwaHe
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(is) the One Who
خَلَقَكُم
khalaqakumcreated you
مِّن
minfrom
طِينٍۢ
ṭīninclay
ثُمَّ
thummathen
قَضَىٰٓ
qaḍāHe decreed
أَجَلًۭا ۖ
ajalana term
وَأَجَلٌۭ
wa-ajalunand a term
مُّسَمًّى
musammanspecified
عِندَهُۥ ۖ
ʿindahuwith Him
ثُمَّ
thummayet
أَنتُمْ
antumyou
تَمْتَرُونَ
tamtarūnadoubt
٢
(2)
It is He who created you from clay and then decreed a term and a specified time [known] to Him; then [still] you are in dispute.

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu(is) Allah
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَفِى
wafīand in
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ
l-arḍithe earth
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamuHe knows
سِرَّكُمْ
sirrakumyour secret
وَجَهْرَكُمْ
wajahrakumand what you make public
وَيَعْلَمُ
wayaʿlamuand He knows
مَا
what
تَكْسِبُونَ
taksibūnayou earn
٣
(3)
And He is Allāh, [the only deity] in the heavens and the earth. He knows your secret and what you make public, and He knows that which you earn.

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
تَأْتِيهِم
tatīhimcomes to them
مِّنْ
min[of]
ءَايَةٍۢ
āyatinany sign
مِّنْ
minfrom
ءَايَـٰتِ
āyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim(of) their Lord
إِلَّا
illābut
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey are
عَنْهَا
ʿanhāfrom it
مُعْرِضِينَ
muʿ'riḍīnaturning away
٤
(4)
And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they turn away therefrom.

فَقَدْ
faqadThen indeed
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabūthey denied
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqithe truth
لَمَّا
lammāwhen
جَآءَهُمْ ۖ
jāahumit came to them
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfabut soon
يَأْتِيهِمْ
yatīhimwill come to them
أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟
anbāunews
مَا
(of) what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
بِهِۦ
bihi[at it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
yastahziūnamock
٥
(5)
For they had denied the truth when it came to them, but there is going to reach them the news of what they used to ridicule.

أَلَمْ
alamDid not
يَرَوْا۟
yarawthey see
كَمْ
kamhow many
أَهْلَكْنَا
ahlaknāWe destroyed
مِن
minfrom
قَبْلِهِم
qablihimbefore them
مِّن
minof
قَرْنٍۢ
qarningenerations
مَّكَّنَّـٰهُمْ
makkannāhumWe had established them
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
مَا
what
لَمْ
lamnot
نُمَكِّن
numakkinWe (have) established
لَّكُمْ
lakumfor you
وَأَرْسَلْنَا
wa-arsalnāAnd We sent
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
l-samāa(rain from) the sky
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhimupon them
مِّدْرَارًۭا
mid'rāranshowering abundantly
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnāand We made
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَ
l-anhārathe rivers
تَجْرِى
tajrīflow
مِن
minfrom
تَحْتِهِمْ
taḥtihimunderneath them
فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُم
fa-ahlaknāhumThen We destroyed them
بِذُنُوبِهِمْ
bidhunūbihimfor their sins
وَأَنشَأْنَا
wa-anshanāand We raised
مِنۢ
minfrom
بَعْدِهِمْ
baʿdihimafter them
قَرْنًا
qarnangenerations
ءَاخَرِينَ
ākharīnaother
٦
(6)
Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [rain from] the sky upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them a generation of others.

وَلَوْ
walawAnd (even) if
نَزَّلْنَا
nazzalnāWe (had) sent down
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalaykato you
كِتَـٰبًۭا
kitābana written Scripture
فِى
in
قِرْطَاسٍۢ
qir'ṭāsina parchment
فَلَمَسُوهُ
falamasūhuand they touched it
بِأَيْدِيهِمْ
bi-aydīhimwith their hands
لَقَالَ
laqālasurely (would) have said
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
إِنْ
inNot
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā(is) this
إِلَّا
illābut
سِحْرٌۭ
siḥ'runmagic
مُّبِينٌۭ
mubīnunclear
٧
(7)
And even if We had sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], a written scripture on a page and they touched it with their hands, the disbelievers would say, "This is not but obvious magic."

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they said
لَوْلَآ
lawlāWhy has not been
أُنزِلَ
unzilasent down
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhito him
مَلَكٌۭ ۖ
malakunan Angel
وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
أَنزَلْنَا
anzalnāWe (had) sent down
مَلَكًۭا
malakanan Angel
لَّقُضِىَ
laquḍiyasurely (would) have been decided
ٱلْأَمْرُ
l-amruthe matter
ثُمَّ
thummathen
لَا
no
يُنظَرُونَ
yunẓarūnarespite would have been granted to them
٨
(8)
And they say, "Why was there not sent down to him an angel?" But if We had sent down an angel, the matter would have been decided; then they would not be reprieved.

وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
جَعَلْنَـٰهُ
jaʿalnāhuWe had made him
مَلَكًۭا
malakanan Angel
لَّجَعَلْنَـٰهُ
lajaʿalnāhucertainly We (would) have made him
رَجُلًۭا
rajulana man
وَلَلَبَسْنَا
walalabasnāand certainly We (would) have obscured
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhimto them
مَّا
what
يَلْبِسُونَ
yalbisūnathey are obscuring
٩
(9)
And if We had made him [i.e., the messenger] an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that in which they cover themselves [i.e., confusion and doubt].

وَلَقَدِ
walaqadiAnd indeed
ٱسْتُهْزِئَ
us'tuh'zi-awere mocked
بِرُسُلٍۢ
birusulinMessengers
مِّن
minfrom
قَبْلِكَ
qablikabefore you
فَحَاقَ
faḥāqabut surrounded
بِٱلَّذِينَ
bi-alladhīnathose who
سَخِرُوا۟
sakhirūscoffed
مِنْهُم
min'humof them
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
بِهِۦ
bihi[at it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
yastahziūnamock
١٠
(10)
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by that which they used to ridicule.

قُلْ
qulSay
سِيرُوا۟
sīrūTravel
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
ثُمَّ
thummaand
ٱنظُرُوا۟
unẓurūsee
كَيْفَ
kayfahow
كَانَ
kānawas
عَـٰقِبَةُ
ʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
l-mukadhibīna(of) the rejecters
١١
(11)
Say, "Travel through the land; then observe how was the end of the deniers."

قُل
qulSay
لِّمَن
limanTo whom (belongs)
مَّا
what
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ
wal-arḍiand the earth
قُل
qulSay
لِّلَّهِ ۚ
lillahiTo Allah
كَتَبَ
katabaHe has decreed
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāupon
نَفْسِهِ
nafsihiHimself
ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۚ
l-raḥmatathe Mercy
لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ
layajmaʿannakumSurely He will assemble you
إِلَىٰ
ilāon
يَوْمِ
yawmi(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
لَا
(there is) no
رَيْبَ
raybadoubt
فِيهِ ۚ
fīhiabout it
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnaThose who
خَسِرُوٓا۟
khasirūhave lost
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahumthemselves
فَهُمْ
fahumthen they
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
١٢
(12)
Say, "To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?" Say, "To Allāh." He has decreed upon Himself mercy. He will surely assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Those who will lose themselves [that Day] do not believe.

۞ وَلَهُۥ
walahuAnd for Him
مَا
(is) whatever
سَكَنَ
sakanadwells
فِى
in
ٱلَّيْلِ
al-laylithe night
وَٱلنَّهَارِ ۚ
wal-nahāriand the day
وَهُوَ
wahuwaand He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
l-samīʿu(is) All-Hearing
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmuAll-Knowing
١٣
(13)
And to Him belongs that which reposes by night and by day, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

قُلْ
qulSay
أَغَيْرَ
aghayraIs it other than
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
أَتَّخِذُ
attakhidhuI (should) take
وَلِيًّۭا
waliyyan(as) a protector
فَاطِرِ
fāṭiriCreator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍiand the earth
وَهُوَ
wahuwawhile (it is) He
يُطْعِمُ
yuṭ'ʿimuWho feeds
وَلَا
walāand not
يُطْعَمُ ۗ
yuṭ'ʿamuHe is fed
قُلْ
qulSay
إِنِّىٓ
innīIndeed I
أُمِرْتُ
umir'tu[I] am commanded
أَنْ
anthat
أَكُونَ
akūnaI be
أَوَّلَ
awwala(the) first
مَنْ
manwho
أَسْلَمَ ۖ
aslamasubmits (to Allah)
وَلَا
walāand not
تَكُونَنَّ
takūnannabe
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
١٤
(14)
Say, "Is it other than Allāh I should take as a protector, Creator of the heavens and earth, while it is He who feeds and is not fed?" Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to be the first [among you] who submit [to Allāh] and [was commanded], 'Do not ever be of the polytheists.'"

قُلْ
qulSay
إِنِّىٓ
innīIndeed, I
أَخَافُ
akhāfu[I] fear
إِنْ
inif
عَصَيْتُ
ʿaṣaytuI disobeyed
رَبِّى
rabbīmy Lord
عَذَابَ
ʿadhābapunishment
يَوْمٍ
yawmin(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍۢ
ʿaẓīminMighty
١٥
(15)
Say, "Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."

مَّن
manWhoever
يُصْرَفْ
yuṣ'rafis averted
عَنْهُ
ʿanhufrom it
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
yawma-idhinthat Day
فَقَدْ
faqadthen surely
رَحِمَهُۥ ۚ
raḥimahuHe had Mercy on him
وَذَٰلِكَ
wadhālikaAnd that
ٱلْفَوْزُ
l-fawzu(is) the success
ٱلْمُبِينُ
l-mubīnu(the) clear
١٦
(16)
He from whom it is averted that Day - [Allāh] has granted him mercy. And that is the clear attainment.

وَإِن
wa-inAnd if
يَمْسَسْكَ
yamsaskatouches you
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
بِضُرٍّۢ
biḍurrinwith affliction
فَلَا
falāthen no
كَاشِفَ
kāshifaremover
لَهُۥٓ
lahuof it
إِلَّا
illāexcept
هُوَ ۖ
huwaHim
وَإِن
wa-inAnd if
يَمْسَسْكَ
yamsaskaHe touches you
بِخَيْرٍۢ
bikhayrinwith good
فَهُوَ
fahuwathen He
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā(is) on
كُلِّ
kullievery
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinthing
قَدِيرٌۭ
qadīrunAll-Powerful
١٧
(17)
And if Allāh should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good - then He is over all things competent.

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلْقَاهِرُ
l-qāhiru(is) the Subjugator
فَوْقَ
fawqaover
عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ
ʿibādihiHis slaves
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmu(is) the All-Wise
ٱلْخَبِيرُ
l-khabīruthe All-Aware
١٨
(18)
And He is the subjugator over His servants. And He is the Wise, the Aware.

قُلْ
qulSay
أَىُّ
ayyuWhat
شَىْءٍ
shayinthing
أَكْبَرُ
akbaru(is) greatest
شَهَـٰدَةًۭ ۖ
shahādatan(as) a testimony
قُلِ
quliSay
ٱللَّهُ ۖ
l-lahuAllah
شَهِيدٌۢ
shahīdun(is) Witness
بَيْنِى
baynībetween me
وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ
wabaynakumand between you
وَأُوحِىَ
waūḥiyaand has been revealed
إِلَىَّ
ilayyato me
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
ٱلْقُرْءَانُ
l-qur'ānu[the] Quran
لِأُنذِرَكُم
li-undhirakumthat I may warn you
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
وَمَنۢ
wamanand whoever
بَلَغَ ۚ
balaghait reaches
أَئِنَّكُمْ
a-innakumDo you truly
لَتَشْهَدُونَ
latashhadūnatestify
أَنَّ
annathat
مَعَ
maʿawith
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
ءَالِهَةً
ālihatan(there are) gods
أُخْرَىٰ ۚ
ukh'rāother
قُل
qulSay
لَّآ
Not
أَشْهَدُ ۚ
ashhadu(do) I testify
قُلْ
qulSay
إِنَّمَا
innamāOnly
هُوَ
huwaHe
إِلَـٰهٌۭ
ilāhun(is) God
وَٰحِدٌۭ
wāḥidunOne
وَإِنَّنِى
wa-innanīand indeed, I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭ
barīonfree
مِّمَّا
mimmāof what
تُشْرِكُونَ
tush'rikūnayou associate (with Him)
١٩
(19)
Say, "What thing is greatest in testimony?" Say, "Allāh is witness between me and you. And this Qur’ān was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches. Do you [truly] testify that with Allāh there are other deities?" Say, "I will not testify [with you]." Say, "Indeed, He is but one God, and indeed, I am free of what you associate [with Him]."

ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnaThose (to) whom
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ
ātaynāhumuWe have given them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitābathe Book
يَعْرِفُونَهُۥ
yaʿrifūnahuthey recognize him
كَمَا
kamāas
يَعْرِفُونَ
yaʿrifūnathey recognize
أَبْنَآءَهُمُ ۘ
abnāahumutheir sons
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnaThose who
خَسِرُوٓا۟
khasirūlost
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahumthemselves
فَهُمْ
fahumthen they
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
٢٠
(20)
Those to whom We have given the Scripture recognize it as they recognize their [own] sons. Those who will lose themselves [in the Hereafter] do not believe.

وَمَنْ
wamanAnd who
أَظْلَمُ
aẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنِ
mimmanithan (he) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰ
if'tarāinvents
عَلَى
ʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
كَذِبًا
kadhibana lie
أَوْ
awor
كَذَّبَ
kadhabarejects
بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۗ
biāyātihiHis Signs
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed
لَا
not
يُفْلِحُ
yuf'liḥuwill be successful
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
٢١
(21)
And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allāh a lie or denies His verses? Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.

وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaAnd (the) Day
نَحْشُرُهُمْ
naḥshuruhumWe will gather them
جَمِيعًۭا
jamīʿanall
ثُمَّ
thummathen
نَقُولُ
naqūluWe will say
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīnato those who
أَشْرَكُوٓا۟
ashrakūassociated others with Allah
أَيْنَ
aynaWhere (are)
شُرَكَآؤُكُمُ
shurakāukumuyour partners
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose whom
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou used to
تَزْعُمُونَ
tazʿumūnaclaim
٢٢
(22)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], the Day We will gather them all together; then We will say to those who associated others with Allāh, "Where are your 'partners' that you used to claim [with Him]?"

ثُمَّ
thummaThen
لَمْ
lamnot
تَكُن
takunwill be
فِتْنَتُهُمْ
fit'natuhum(for) them a plea
إِلَّآ
illāexcept
أَن
anthat
قَالُوا۟
qālūthey say
وَٱللَّهِ
wal-lahiBy Allah
رَبِّنَا
rabbināour Lord
مَا
not
كُنَّا
kunnāwe were
مُشْرِكِينَ
mush'rikīnathose who associated others (with Allah)
٢٣
(23)
Then there will be no [excuse upon] examination except they will say, "By Allāh, our Lord, we were not those who associated."

ٱنظُرْ
unẓurLook
كَيْفَ
kayfahow
كَذَبُوا۟
kadhabūthey lied
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāagainst
أَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ
anfusihimthemselves
وَضَلَّ
waḍallaAnd lost
عَنْهُم
ʿanhumfrom them
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūnainvent
٢٤
(24)
See how they will lie about themselves. And lost from them will be what they used to invent.

وَمِنْهُم
wamin'humAnd among them
مَّن
man(are those) who
يَسْتَمِعُ
yastamiʿulisten
إِلَيْكَ ۖ
ilaykato you
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnābut We have placed
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāover
قُلُوبِهِمْ
qulūbihimtheir hearts
أَكِنَّةً
akinnatancoverings
أَن
anlest
يَفْقَهُوهُ
yafqahūhuthey understand it
وَفِىٓ
wafīand in
ءَاذَانِهِمْ
ādhānihimtheir ears
وَقْرًۭا ۚ
waqrandeafness
وَإِن
wa-inAnd if
يَرَوْا۟
yarawthey see
كُلَّ
kullaevery
ءَايَةٍۢ
āyatinsign
لَّا
not
يُؤْمِنُوا۟
yu'minūwill they believe
بِهَا ۚ
bihāin it
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāUntil
إِذَا
idhāwhen
جَآءُوكَ
jāūkathey come to you
يُجَـٰدِلُونَكَ
yujādilūnakaand argue with you
يَقُولُ
yaqūlusay
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarūdisbelieved
إِنْ
inNot
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā(is) this
إِلَّآ
illābut
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
asāṭīru(the) tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna(of) the former (people)
٢٥
(25)
And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. Even when they come to you arguing with you, those who disbelieve say, "This is not but legends of the former peoples."

وَهُمْ
wahumAnd they
يَنْهَوْنَ
yanhawnaforbid (others)
عَنْهُ
ʿanhufrom it
وَيَنْـَٔوْنَ
wayanawnaand they keep away
عَنْهُ ۖ
ʿanhufrom it
وَإِن
wa-inAnd not
يُهْلِكُونَ
yuh'likūnathey destroy
إِلَّآ
illāexcept
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahumthemselves
وَمَا
wamāand not
يَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūnathey perceive
٢٦
(26)
And they prevent [others] from him and are [themselves] remote from him. And they do not destroy except themselves, but they perceive [it] not.

وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
تَرَىٰٓ
tarāyou (could) see
إِذْ
idhwhen
وُقِفُوا۟
wuqifūthey are made to stand
عَلَى
ʿalāby
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nārithe Fire
فَقَالُوا۟
faqālūthen they (will) say
يَـٰلَيْتَنَا
yālaytanāOh! Would that we
نُرَدُّ
nuradduwere sent back
وَلَا
walāand not
نُكَذِّبَ
nukadhibawe would deny
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّنَا
rabbinā(of) our Lord
وَنَكُونَ
wanakūnaand we would be
مِنَ
minaamong
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīnathe believers
٢٧
(27)
If you could but see when they are made to stand before the Fire and will say, "Oh, would that we could be returned [to life on earth] and not deny the signs of our Lord and be among the believers."

بَلْ
balNay
بَدَا
badābecame manifest
لَهُم
lahumfor them
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يُخْفُونَ
yukh'fūnaconceal
مِن
minfrom
قَبْلُ ۖ
qablubefore
وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
رُدُّوا۟
ruddūthey were sent back
لَعَادُوا۟
laʿādūcertainly they (would) return
لِمَا
limāto what
نُهُوا۟
nuhūthey were forbidden
عَنْهُ
ʿanhufrom it
وَإِنَّهُمْ
wa-innahumand indeed they
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
lakādhibūnacertainly are liars
٢٨
(28)
But what they concealed before has [now] appeared to them. And even if they were returned, they would return to that which they were forbidden; and indeed, they are liars.

وَقَالُوٓا۟
waqālūAnd they said
إِنْ
inNot
هِىَ
hiyait (is)
إِلَّا
illāexcept
حَيَاتُنَا
ḥayātunāour life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā(of) the world
وَمَا
wamāand not
نَحْنُ
naḥnuwe
بِمَبْعُوثِينَ
bimabʿūthīna(will be) resurrected
٢٩
(29)
And they say, "There is none but our worldly life, and we will not be resurrected."

وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
تَرَىٰٓ
tarāyou (could) see
إِذْ
idhwhen
وُقِفُوا۟
wuqifūthey will be made to stand
عَلَىٰ
ʿalābefore
رَبِّهِمْ ۚ
rabbihimtheir Lord
قَالَ
qālaHe (will) say
أَلَيْسَ
alaysaIs not
هَـٰذَا
hādhāthis
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ
bil-ḥaqithe truth
قَالُوا۟
qālūThey will say
بَلَىٰ
balāYes
وَرَبِّنَا ۚ
warabbināby our Lord
قَالَ
qālaHe (will) say
فَذُوقُوا۟
fadhūqūSo taste
ٱلْعَذَابَ
l-ʿadhābathe punishment
بِمَا
bimābecause
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou used to
تَكْفُرُونَ
takfurūnadisbelieve
٣٠
(30)
If you could but see when they will be made to stand before their Lord. He will say, "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will [then] say, "So taste the punishment for what you used to deny."

قَدْ
qadIndeed
خَسِرَ
khasiraincurred loss
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabūdenied
بِلِقَآءِ
biliqāiin (the) meeting
ٱللَّهِ ۖ
l-lahi(with) Allah
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāuntil
إِذَا
idhāwhen
جَآءَتْهُمُ
jāathumucame to them
ٱلسَّاعَةُ
l-sāʿatuthe Hour
بَغْتَةًۭ
baghtatansuddenly
قَالُوا۟
qālūthey said
يَـٰحَسْرَتَنَا
yāḥasratanāOh! Our regret
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāover
مَا
what
فَرَّطْنَا
farraṭnāwe neglected
فِيهَا
fīhāconcerning it
وَهُمْ
wahumwhile they
يَحْمِلُونَ
yaḥmilūnawill bear
أَوْزَارَهُمْ
awzārahumtheir burdens
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
ظُهُورِهِمْ ۚ
ẓuhūrihimtheir backs
أَلَا
alāUnquestionably
سَآءَ
sāaEvil
مَا
(is) what
يَزِرُونَ
yazirūnathey bear
٣١
(31)
Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allāh, until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it [i.e., the Hour]," while they bear their burdens [i.e., sins] on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ
l-ḥayatu(is) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَآ
l-dun'yā(of) the world
إِلَّا
illāexcept
لَعِبٌۭ
laʿibuna play
وَلَهْوٌۭ ۖ
walahwunand amusement
وَلَلدَّارُ
walalddārubut the home
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ
l-ākhiratu(of) the Hereafter
خَيْرٌۭ
khayrun(is) best
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīnafor those who
يَتَّقُونَ ۗ
yattaqūna(are) God conscious
أَفَلَا
afalāThen not
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūna(will) you reason
٣٢
(32)
And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allāh, so will you not reason?

قَدْ
qadIndeed
نَعْلَمُ
naʿlamuWe know
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuthat it
لَيَحْزُنُكَ
layaḥzunukagrieves you
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīwhat
يَقُولُونَ ۖ
yaqūlūnathey say
فَإِنَّهُمْ
fa-innahumAnd indeed, they
لَا
(do) not
يُكَذِّبُونَكَ
yukadhibūnakadeny you
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinnabut
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyātithe Verses
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
يَجْحَدُونَ
yajḥadūnathey reject
٣٣
(33)
We know that you, [O Muḥammad], are saddened by what they say. And indeed, they do not call you untruthful, but it is the verses of Allāh that the wrongdoers reject.

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd surely
كُذِّبَتْ
kudhibatwere rejected
رُسُلٌۭ
rusulunMessengers
مِّن
minfrom
قَبْلِكَ
qablikabefore you
فَصَبَرُوا۟
faṣabarūbut they were patient
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāover
مَا
what
كُذِّبُوا۟
kudhibūthey were rejected
وَأُوذُوا۟
waūdhūand they were harmed
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāuntil
أَتَىٰهُمْ
atāhumcame to them
نَصْرُنَا ۚ
naṣrunāOur help
وَلَا
walāAnd no
مُبَدِّلَ
mubaddilaone (can) alter
لِكَلِمَـٰتِ
likalimāti(the) words
ٱللَّهِ ۚ
l-lahi(of) Allah
وَلَقَدْ
walaqadand surely
جَآءَكَ
jāakahas come to you
مِن
minof
نَّبَإِى۟
naba-i(the) news
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
l-mur'salīna(of) the Messengers
٣٤
(34)
And certainly were messengers denied before you, but they were patient over the denial, and they were harmed until Our victory came to them. And none can alter the words [i.e., decrees] of Allāh. And there has certainly come to you some information about the [previous] messengers.

وَإِن
wa-inAnd if
كَانَ

كَبُرَ
kaburadifficult
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalaykafor you
إِعْرَاضُهُمْ
iʿ'rāḍuhumtheir aversion
فَإِنِ
fa-inithen if
ٱسْتَطَعْتَ
is'taṭaʿtayou are able
أَن
anto
تَبْتَغِىَ
tabtaghiyaseek
نَفَقًۭا
nafaqana tunnel
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
أَوْ
awor
سُلَّمًۭا
sullamana ladder
فِى
into
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāithe sky
فَتَأْتِيَهُم
fatatiyahumso that you bring to them
بِـَٔايَةٍۢ ۚ
biāyatina Sign
وَلَوْ
walawBut if
شَآءَ
shāa(had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
لَجَمَعَهُمْ
lajamaʿahumsurely He (would) have gathered them
عَلَى
ʿalāon
ٱلْهُدَىٰ ۚ
l-hudāthe guidance
فَلَا
falāSo (do) not
تَكُونَنَّ
takūnannabe
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ
l-jāhilīnathe ignorant
٣٥
(35)
And if their evasion is difficult for you, then if you are able to seek a tunnel into the earth or a stairway into the sky to bring them a sign, [then do so]. But if Allāh had willed, He would have united them upon guidance. So never be of the ignorant.

۞ إِنَّمَا
innamāOnly
يَسْتَجِيبُ
yastajīburespond
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
يَسْمَعُونَ ۘ
yasmaʿūnalisten
وَٱلْمَوْتَىٰ
wal-mawtāBut the dead
يَبْعَثُهُمُ
yabʿathuhumuwill resurrect them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
ثُمَّ
thummathen
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhito Him
يُرْجَعُونَ
yur'jaʿūnathey will be returned
٣٦
(36)
Only those who hear will respond. But the dead - Allāh will resurrect them; then to Him they will be returned.

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they said
لَوْلَا
lawlāWhy (is) not
نُزِّلَ
nuzzilasent down
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhito him
ءَايَةٌۭ
āyatuna Sign
مِّن
minfrom
رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ
rabbihihis Lord
قُلْ
qulSay
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
قَادِرٌ
qādirun(is) Able
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā[on]
أَن
anto
يُنَزِّلَ
yunazzilasend down
ءَايَةًۭ
āyatana Sign
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinnabut
أَكْثَرَهُمْ
aktharahummost of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnaknow
٣٧
(37)
And they say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Indeed, Allāh is Able to send down a sign, but most of them do not know."

وَمَا
wamāAnd not
مِن
min[of]
دَآبَّةٍۢ
dābbatinany animal
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
وَلَا
walāand not
طَـٰٓئِرٍۢ
ṭāirina bird
يَطِيرُ
yaṭīru(that) flies
بِجَنَاحَيْهِ
bijanāḥayhiwith its wings
إِلَّآ
illābut
أُمَمٌ
umamun(are) communities
أَمْثَالُكُم ۚ
amthālukumlike you
مَّا
Not
فَرَّطْنَا
farraṭnāWe have neglected
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābithe Book
مِن
min[of]
شَىْءٍۢ ۚ
shayinanything
ثُمَّ
thummathen
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihimtheir Lord
يُحْشَرُونَ
yuḥ'sharūnathey will be gathered
٣٨
(38)
And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a thing. Then unto their Lord they will be gathered.

وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīnaAnd those who
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabūrejected
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātināOur Verses
صُمٌّۭ
ṣummun(are) deaf
وَبُكْمٌۭ
wabuk'munand dumb
فِى
in
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ ۗ
l-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]
مَن
manWhoever
يَشَإِ
yasha-iwills
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
يُضْلِلْهُ
yuḍ'lil'huHe lets him go astray
وَمَن
wamanand whoever
يَشَأْ
yashaHe wills
يَجْعَلْهُ
yajʿalhuHe places him
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
صِرَٰطٍۢ
ṣirāṭin(the) way
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
mus'taqīmin(the) straight
٣٩
(39)
But those who deny Our verses are deaf and dumb within darknesses. Whomever Allāh wills - He sends astray; and whomever He wills - He puts him on a straight path.

قُلْ
qulSay
أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ
ara-aytakumHave you seen
إِنْ
inif
أَتَىٰكُمْ
atākum(there) came to you
عَذَابُ
ʿadhābupunishment
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
أَوْ
awor
أَتَتْكُمُ
atatkumu(there) came to you
ٱلسَّاعَةُ
l-sāʿatuthe Hour
أَغَيْرَ
aghayrais it other
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(than) Allah
تَدْعُونَ
tadʿūnayou call
إِن
inif
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīnatruthful
٤٠
(40)
Say, "Have you considered: if there came to you the punishment of Allāh or there came to you the Hour - is it other than Allāh you would invoke, if you should be truthful?"

بَلْ
balNay
إِيَّاهُ
iyyāhuHim Alone
تَدْعُونَ
tadʿūnayou call
فَيَكْشِفُ
fayakshifuand He would remove
مَا
what
تَدْعُونَ
tadʿūnayou call
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhiupon Him
إِن
inif
شَآءَ
shāaHe wills
وَتَنسَوْنَ
watansawnaand you will forget
مَا
what
تُشْرِكُونَ
tush'rikūnayou associate (with Him)
٤١
(41)
No, it is Him [alone] you would invoke, and He would remove that for which you invoked Him if He willed, and you would forget what you associate [with Him].

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd certainly
أَرْسَلْنَآ
arsalnāWe sent (Messengers)
إِلَىٰٓ
ilāto
أُمَمٍۢ
umaminnations
مِّن
minfrom
قَبْلِكَ
qablikabefore you
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُم
fa-akhadhnāhumthen We seized them
بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ
bil-basāiwith adversity
وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ
wal-ḍarāiand hardship
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
yataḍarraʿūnahumble themselves
٤٢
(42)
And We have already sent [messengers] to nations before you, [O Muḥammad]; then We seized them with poverty and hardship that perhaps they might humble themselves [to Us].

فَلَوْلَآ
falawlāThen why not
إِذْ
idhwhen
جَآءَهُم
jāahumcame to them
بَأْسُنَا
basunāOur punishment
تَضَرَّعُوا۟
taḍarraʿūthey humbled themselves
وَلَـٰكِن
walākinBut
قَسَتْ
qasatbecame hardened
قُلُوبُهُمْ
qulūbuhumtheir hearts
وَزَيَّنَ
wazayyanaand made fair-seeming
لَهُمُ
lahumuto them
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan
مَا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnado
٤٣
(43)
Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing.

فَلَمَّا
falammāSo when
نَسُوا۟
nasūthey forgot
مَا
what
ذُكِّرُوا۟
dhukkirūthey were reminded
بِهِۦ
bihiof [it]
فَتَحْنَا
fataḥnāWe opened
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimon them
أَبْوَٰبَ
abwābagates
كُلِّ
kulli(of) every
شَىْءٍ
shayinthing
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāuntil
إِذَا
idhāwhen
فَرِحُوا۟
fariḥūthey rejoiced
بِمَآ
bimāin what
أُوتُوٓا۟
ūtūthey were given
أَخَذْنَـٰهُم
akhadhnāhumWe seized them
بَغْتَةًۭ
baghtatansuddenly
فَإِذَا
fa-idhāand then
هُم
humthey
مُّبْلِسُونَ
mub'lisūna(were) dumbfounded
٤٤
(44)
So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair.

فَقُطِعَ
faquṭiʿaSo was cut off
دَابِرُ
dābiru(the) remnant
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmi(of) the people
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna[those] who
ظَلَمُوا۟ ۚ
ẓalamūdid wrong
وَٱلْحَمْدُ
wal-ḥamduAnd all praises and thanks
لِلَّهِ
lillahi(be) to Allah
رَبِّ
rabbiLord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٤٥
(45)
So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.

قُلْ
qulSay
أَرَءَيْتُمْ
ara-aytumHave you seen
إِنْ
inif
أَخَذَ
akhadhatook away
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
سَمْعَكُمْ
samʿakumyour hearing
وَأَبْصَـٰرَكُمْ
wa-abṣārakumand your sight
وَخَتَمَ
wakhatamaand sealed
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā[on]
قُلُوبِكُم
qulūbikumyour hearts
مَّنْ
manwho
إِلَـٰهٌ
ilāhun(is the) god
غَيْرُ
ghayruother than
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
يَأْتِيكُم
yatīkumto bring [back] to you
بِهِ ۗ
bihiwith it
ٱنظُرْ
unẓurSee
كَيْفَ
kayfahow
نُصَرِّفُ
nuṣarrifuWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyātithe Signs
ثُمَّ
thummayet
هُمْ
humthey
يَصْدِفُونَ
yaṣdifūnaturn away
٤٦
(46)
Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should take away your hearing and your sight and set a seal upon your hearts, which deity other than Allāh could bring them [back] to you?" Look how We diversify the verses; then they [still] turn away.

قُلْ
qulSay
أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ
ara-aytakumHave you seen
إِنْ

أَتَىٰكُمْ
atākumcomes to you
عَذَابُ
ʿadhābupunishment
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
بَغْتَةً
baghtatansuddenly
أَوْ
awor
جَهْرَةً
jahratanopenly
هَلْ
halwill
يُهْلَكُ
yuh'laku(any) be destroyed
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱلْقَوْمُ
l-qawmuthe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
٤٧
(47)
Say, "Have you considered: if the punishment of Allāh should come to you unexpectedly or manifestly, will any be destroyed but the wrongdoing people?"

wamāAnd not
نُرْسِلُ
nur'siluWe send
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
l-mur'salīnathe Messengers
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مُبَشِّرِينَ
mubashirīna(as) bearer of glad tidings
وَمُنذِرِينَ ۖ
wamundhirīnaand (as) warners
فَمَنْ
famanSo whoever
ءَامَنَ
āmanabelieved
وَأَصْلَحَ
wa-aṣlaḥaand reformed
فَلَا
falāthen no
خَوْفٌ
khawfunfear
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimupon them
وَلَا
walāand not
هُمْ
humthey
يَحْزَنُونَ
yaḥzanūnawill grieve
٤٨
(48)
And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. So whoever believes and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīnaAnd those who
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabūdenied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātinā[in] Our Verses
يَمَسُّهُمُ
yamassuhumuwill touch them
ٱلْعَذَابُ
l-ʿadhābuthe punishment
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَفْسُقُونَ
yafsuqūnadefiantly disobey
٤٩
(49)
But those who deny Our verses - the punishment will touch them for their defiant disobedience.

qulSay
لَّآ
Not
أَقُولُ
aqūlu(do) I say
لَكُمْ
lakumto you
عِندِى
ʿindī(that) with me
خَزَآئِنُ
khazāinu(are the) treasures
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
وَلَآ
walāand not
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu(that) I know
ٱلْغَيْبَ
l-ghaybathe unseen
وَلَآ
walāand not
أَقُولُ
aqūluI say
لَكُمْ
lakumto you
إِنِّى
innīthat I (am)
مَلَكٌ ۖ
malakunan Angel
إِنْ
inNot
أَتَّبِعُ
attabiʿu(do) I follow
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مَا
what
يُوحَىٰٓ
yūḥāis revealed
إِلَىَّ ۚ
ilayyato me
قُلْ
qulSay
هَلْ
halCan
يَسْتَوِى
yastawībe equal
ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
l-aʿmāthe blind
وَٱلْبَصِيرُ ۚ
wal-baṣīruand the seeing one
أَفَلَا
afalāThen will not
تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
tatafakkarūnayou give thought
٥٠
(50)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allāh or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me." Say, "Is the blind equivalent to the seeing? Then will you not give thought?"

وَأَنذِرْ
wa-andhirAnd warn
بِهِ
bihiwith it
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
يَخَافُونَ
yakhāfūnafear
أَن
anthat
يُحْشَرُوٓا۟
yuḥ'sharūthey will be gathered
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
رَبِّهِمْ ۙ
rabbihimtheir Lord
لَيْسَ
laysanot
لَهُم
lahumfor them
مِّن
minof
دُونِهِۦ
dūnihiother than Him
وَلِىٌّۭ
waliyyunany protector
وَلَا
walāand not
شَفِيعٌۭ
shafīʿunany intercessor
لَّعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَتَّقُونَ
yattaqūna(become) righteous
٥١
(51)
And warn by it [i.e., the Qur’ān] those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord - for them besides Him will be no protector and no intercessor - that they might become righteous.

تَطْرُدِ
taṭrudisend away
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
يَدْعُونَ
yadʿūnacall
رَبَّهُم
rabbahumtheir Lord
بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ
bil-ghadatiin the morning
وَٱلْعَشِىِّ
wal-ʿashiyiand the evening
يُرِيدُونَ
yurīdūnadesiring
وَجْهَهُۥ ۖ
wajhahuHis Countenance
مَا
Not
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka(is) on you
مِنْ
minof
حِسَابِهِم
ḥisābihimtheir account
مِّن
min[of]
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinanything
وَمَا
wamāand not
مِنْ
minfrom
حِسَابِكَ
ḥisābikayour account
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhimon them
مِّن
min[of]
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinanything
فَتَطْرُدَهُمْ
fataṭrudahumSo were you to send them away
فَتَكُونَ
fatakūnathen you would be
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٥٢
(52)
And do not send away those who call upon their Lord morning and afternoon, seeking His face [i.e., favor]. Not upon you is anything of their account and not upon them is anything of your account. So were you to send them away, you would [then] be of the wrongdoers.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
فَتَنَّا
fatannāWe try
بَعْضَهُم
baʿḍahumsome of them
بِبَعْضٍۢ
bibaʿḍinwith others
لِّيَقُولُوٓا۟
liyaqūlūthat they say
أَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
ahāulāiAre these
مَنَّ
manna(whom has been) favored
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu(by) Allah
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim[upon them]
مِّنۢ
minfrom
بَيْنِنَآ ۗ
baynināamong us
أَلَيْسَ
alaysais not
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
بِأَعْلَمَ
bi-aʿlamamost knowing
بِٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
bil-shākirīnaof those who are grateful
٥٣
(53)
And thus We have tried some of them through others that they [i.e., the disbelievers] might say, "Is it these whom Allāh has favored among us?" Is not Allāh most knowing of those who are grateful?

وَإِذَا
wa-idhāAnd when
جَآءَكَ
jāakacome to you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātināin Our Verses
فَقُلْ
faqulthen say
سَلَـٰمٌ
salāmunPeace
عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ
ʿalaykum(be) upon you
كَتَبَ
kataba(Has) Prescribed
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukumyour Lord
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāupon
نَفْسِهِ
nafsihiHimself
ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۖ
l-raḥmatathe Mercy
أَنَّهُۥ
annahuthat he
مَنْ
manwho
عَمِلَ
ʿamiladoes
مِنكُمْ
minkumamong you
سُوٓءًۢا
sūanevil
بِجَهَـٰلَةٍۢ
bijahālatinin ignorance
ثُمَّ
thummathen
تَابَ
tābarepents
مِنۢ
minfrom
بَعْدِهِۦ
baʿdihiafter it
وَأَصْلَحَ
wa-aṣlaḥaand reforms
فَأَنَّهُۥ
fa-annahuthen, indeed He
غَفُورٌۭ
ghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunMost Merciful
٥٤
(54)
And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, "Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
نُفَصِّلُ
nufaṣṣiluWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyātithe Verses
وَلِتَسْتَبِينَ
walitastabīnaso that becomes manifest
سَبِيلُ
sabīlu(the) way
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīna(of) the criminals
٥٥
(55)
And thus do We detail the verses, and [thus] the way of the criminals will become evident.

نُهِيتُ
nuhītu[I] am forbidden
أَنْ

أَعْبُدَ

ٱلَّذِينَ

tadʿūnayou call

minfrom
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ ۚ
l-lahiAllah

لَّآ
Not
أَتَّبِعُ
attabiʿuI follow
أَهْوَآءَكُمْ ۙ
ahwāakumyour (vain) desires
قَدْ
qadcertainly
ضَلَلْتُ
ḍalaltuI would go astray
إِذًۭا
idhanthen
وَمَآ
wamāand not
أَنَا۠
anāI (would be)
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
l-muh'tadīnathe guided-ones
٥٦
(56)
Say, "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you invoke besides Allāh." Say, "I will not follow your desires, for I would then have gone astray, and I would not be of the [rightly] guided."

بَيِّنَةٍۢ

رَّبِّى
rabbīmy Lord
وَكَذَّبْتُم
wakadhabtumwhile you deny
بِهِۦ ۚ
bihi[with] it
مَا
Not
عِندِى
ʿindīI have
مَا
what
تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
tastaʿjilūnayou seek to hasten
بِهِۦٓ ۚ
bihiof it
إِنِ
iniNot
ٱلْحُكْمُ
l-ḥuk'mu(is) the decision
إِلَّا
illāexcept
لِلَّهِ ۖ
lillahifor Allah
يَقُصُّ
yaquṣṣuHe relates
ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ
l-ḥaqathe truth
وَهُوَ
wahuwaand He
خَيْرُ
khayru(is the) best
ٱلْفَـٰصِلِينَ
l-fāṣilīna(of) the Deciders
٥٧
(57)
Say, "Indeed, I am on clear evidence from my Lord, and you have denied it. I do not have that for which you are impatient. The decision is only for Allāh. He relates the truth, and He is the best of deciders."

laquḍiyasurely would have been decided
ٱلْأَمْرُ
l-amruthe matter
بَيْنِى
baynībetween me
وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۗ
wabaynakumand between you
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahuAnd Allah
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu(is) most knowing
بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
bil-ẓālimīnaof the wrongdoers
٥٨
(58)
Say, "If I had that for which you are impatient, the matter would have been decided between me and you, but Allāh is most knowing of the wrongdoers."

mafātiḥu(are the) keys
ٱلْغَيْبِ
l-ghaybi(of) the unseen
لَا
no (one)
يَعْلَمُهَآ
yaʿlamuhāknows them
إِلَّا
illāexcept
هُوَ ۚ
huwaHim
وَيَعْلَمُ
wayaʿlamuAnd He knows
مَا
what
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْبَرِّ
l-barithe land
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۚ
wal-baḥriand in the sea
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
تَسْقُطُ
tasquṭufalls
مِن
minof
وَرَقَةٍ
waraqatinany leaf
إِلَّا
illābut
يَعْلَمُهَا
yaʿlamuhāHe knows it
وَلَا
walāAnd not
حَبَّةٍۢ
ḥabbatina grain
فِى
in
ظُلُمَـٰتِ
ẓulumātithe darkness[es]
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi(of) the earth
وَلَا
walāand not
رَطْبٍۢ
raṭbinmoist
وَلَا
walāand not
يَابِسٍ
yābisindry
إِلَّا
illābut
فِى
(is) in
كِتَـٰبٍۢ
kitābina Record
مُّبِينٍۢ
mubīninClear
٥٩
(59)
And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record.

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(is) the One Who
يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم
yatawaffākumtakes your (soul)
بِٱلَّيْلِ
bi-al-layliby the night
وَيَعْلَمُ
wayaʿlamuand He knows
مَا
what
جَرَحْتُم
jaraḥtumyou committed
بِٱلنَّهَارِ
bil-nahāriby the day
ثُمَّ
thummaThen
يَبْعَثُكُمْ
yabʿathukumHe raises you up
فِيهِ
fīhitherein
لِيُقْضَىٰٓ
liyuq'ḍāso that is fulfilled
أَجَلٌۭ
ajalun(the) term
مُّسَمًّۭى ۖ
musammanspecified
ثُمَّ
thummaThen
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhito Him
مَرْجِعُكُمْ
marjiʿukumwill be your return
ثُمَّ
thummathen
يُنَبِّئُكُم
yunabbi-ukumHe will inform you
بِمَا
bimāabout what
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou used to
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūnado
٦٠
(60)
And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He revives you therein [i.e., by day] that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him will be your return; then He will inform you about what you used to do.

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلْقَاهِرُ
l-qāhiru(is) the Subjugator
فَوْقَ
fawqaover
عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ
ʿibādihiHis slaves
وَيُرْسِلُ
wayur'siluand He sends
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykumover you
حَفَظَةً
ḥafaẓatanguardians
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattāuntil
إِذَا
idhāwhen
جَآءَ
jāacomes
أَحَدَكُمُ
aḥadakumu(to) anyone of you
ٱلْمَوْتُ
l-mawtuthe death
تَوَفَّتْهُ
tawaffathutake him
رُسُلُنَا
rusulunāOur messengers
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
لَا
(do) not
يُفَرِّطُونَ
yufarriṭūnafail
٦١
(61)
And He is the subjugator over His servants, and He sends over you guardian-angels until, when death comes to one of you, Our messengers [i.e., angels of death] take him, and they do not fail [in their duties].

ثُمَّ
thummaThen
رُدُّوٓا۟
ruddūthey are returned
إِلَى
ilāto
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
مَوْلَىٰهُمُ
mawlāhumutheir Protector
ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ
l-ḥaqi[the] True
أَلَا
alāUnquestionably
لَهُ
lahufor Him
ٱلْحُكْمُ
l-ḥuk'mu(is) the judgment
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
أَسْرَعُ
asraʿu(is) swiftest
ٱلْحَـٰسِبِينَ
l-ḥāsibīna(of) the Reckoners
٦٢
(62)
Then they [i.e., His servants] are returned to Allāh, their true Lord. Unquestionably, His is the judgement, and He is the swiftest of accountants.

ظُلُمَـٰتِ

ٱلْبَرِّ
l-bari(of) the land
وَٱلْبَحْرِ
wal-baḥriand the sea
تَدْعُونَهُۥ
tadʿūnahuyou call Him
تَضَرُّعًۭا
taḍarruʿanhumbly
وَخُفْيَةًۭ
wakhuf'yatanand secretly
لَّئِنْ
la-inIf
أَنجَىٰنَا
anjānāHe saves us
مِنْ
minfrom
هَـٰذِهِۦ
hādhihithis
لَنَكُونَنَّ
lanakūnannasurely we will be
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
l-shākirīnathe grateful ones
٦٣
(63)
Say, "Who rescues you from the darknesses of the land and sea [when] you call upon Him imploring [aloud] and privately, 'If He should save us from this [crisis], we will surely be among the thankful.'"

tush'rikūnaassociate partners (with Allah)

(64)
Say, "It is Allāh who saves you from it and from every distress; then you [still] associate others with Him."

مِّن

فَوْقِكُمْ

أَرْجُلِكُمْ
arjulikumyour feet
أَوْ
awor
يَلْبِسَكُمْ
yalbisakum(to) confuse you
شِيَعًۭا
shiyaʿan(into) sects
وَيُذِيقَ
wayudhīqaand make (you) taste
بَعْضَكُم
baʿḍakumsome of you
بَأْسَ
basaviolence
بَعْضٍ ۗ
baʿḍin(of) others
ٱنظُرْ
unẓurSee
كَيْفَ
kayfahow
نُصَرِّفُ
nuṣarrifuWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyātithe Signs
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَفْقَهُونَ
yafqahūnaunderstand
٦٥
(65)
Say, "He is the [one] Able to send upon you affliction from above you or from beneath your feet or to confuse you [so you become] sects and make you taste the violence of one another." Look how We diversify the signs that they might understand.

وَهُوَ

ٱلْحَقُّ ۚ
l-ḥaqu(is) the truth

لَّسْتُ
lastuI am not
عَلَيْكُم
ʿalaykumover you
بِوَكِيلٍۢ
biwakīlina manager
٦٦
(66)
But your people have denied it while it is the truth. Say, "I am not over you a manager [i.e., authority]."

مُّسْتَقَرٌّۭ ۚ
mus'taqarrun(is) a fixed time
وَسَوْفَ
wasawfaand soon
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnayou will know
٦٧
(67)
For every news [i.e., happening] is a finality; and you are going to know.

رَأَيْتَ
ra-aytayou see
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
يَخُوضُونَ
yakhūḍūnaengage (in vain talks)
فِىٓ

ءَايَـٰتِنَا
āyātināOur Verses
فَأَعْرِضْ
fa-aʿriḍthen turn away
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhumfrom them
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattāuntil
يَخُوضُوا۟
yakhūḍūthey engage
فِى
in
حَدِيثٍ
ḥadīthina talk
غَيْرِهِۦ ۚ
ghayrihiother than it
وَإِمَّا
wa-immāAnd if
يُنسِيَنَّكَ
yunsiyannakacauses you to forget
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan
فَلَا
falāthen (do) not
تَقْعُدْ
taqʿudsit
بَعْدَ
baʿdaafter
ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
l-dhik'rāthe reminder
مَعَ
maʿawith
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmithe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
٦٨
(68)
And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversation. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the wrongdoing people.

وَمَا

عَلَى
ʿalā(is) on
ٱلَّذِينَ

يَتَّقُونَ
yattaqūnafear (Allah)

حِسَابِهِم

مِّن
min[of]
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinanything
وَلَـٰكِن
walākinbut
ذِكْرَىٰ
dhik'rā(for) reminder
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahumso that they may
يَتَّقُونَ
yattaqūnafear (Allah)
٦٩
(69)
And those who fear Allāh are not held accountable for them [i.e., the disbelievers] at all, but [only for] a reminder - that perhaps they will fear Him.

ٱلَّذِينَ

ٱتَّخَذُوا۟
ittakhadhūtake
دِينَهُمْ
dīnahumtheir religion
لَعِبًۭا
laʿiban(as) a play
وَلَهْوًۭا
walahwanand amusement
وَغَرَّتْهُمُ
wagharrathumuand deluded them
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ
l-ḥayatuthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ
l-dun'yā(of) the world
وَذَكِّرْ
wadhakkirBut remind
بِهِۦٓ
bihiwith it
أَن
anlest
تُبْسَلَ
tub'salais given up to destruction
نَفْسٌۢ
nafsuna soul
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كَسَبَتْ
kasabatit (has) earned
لَيْسَ
laysanot
لَهَا
lahā(is) for it
مِن
minfrom
دُونِ
dūnibesides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
وَلِىٌّۭ
waliyyunany protector
وَلَا
walāand not
شَفِيعٌۭ
shafīʿunany intercessor
وَإِن
wa-inAnd if
تَعْدِلْ
taʿdilit offers ransom
كُلَّ
kullaevery
عَدْلٍۢ
ʿadlinransom
لَّا
not
يُؤْخَذْ
yu'khadhwill it be taken
مِنْهَآ ۗ
min'hāfrom it
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(are) ones who
أُبْسِلُوا۟
ub'silūare given to destruction
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كَسَبُوا۟ ۖ
kasabūthey earned
لَهُمْ
lahumFor them
شَرَابٌۭ
sharābun(will be) a drink
مِّنْ
minof
حَمِيمٍۢ
ḥamīminboiling water
وَعَذَابٌ
waʿadhābunand a punishment
أَلِيمٌۢ
alīmunpainful
بِمَا
bimābecause
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَكْفُرُونَ
yakfurūnadisbelieve
٧٠
(70)
And leave those who take their religion as amusement and diversion and whom the worldly life has deluded. But remind with it [i.e., the Qur’ān], lest a soul be given up to destruction for what it earned; it will have other than Allāh no protector and no intercessor. And if it should offer every compensation, it would not be taken from it [i.e., that soul]. Those are the ones who are given to destruction for what they have earned. For them will be a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment because they used to disbelieve.

وَلَا
walāand not
يَضُرُّنَا
yaḍurrunāharms us
وَنُرَدُّ
wanuradduand we turn back
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāon
أَعْقَابِنَا
aʿqābināour heels
بَعْدَ
baʿdaafter
إِذْ
idh[when]
هَدَىٰنَا
hadānā(has) guided us
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
كَٱلَّذِى
ka-alladhīLike the one
ٱسْتَهْوَتْهُ
is'tahwathuwhom (has been) enticed
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ
l-shayāṭīnu(by) the Shaitaan
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
حَيْرَانَ
ḥayrānaconfused
لَهُۥٓ
lahuhe has
أَصْحَـٰبٌۭ
aṣḥābuncompanions
يَدْعُونَهُۥٓ
yadʿūnahuwho call him
إِلَى
ilātowards
ٱلْهُدَى
l-hudāthe guidance
ٱئْتِنَا ۗ
i'tinā'Come to us.'
قُلْ
qulSay
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
هُدَى
hudā(the) Guidance
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
هُوَ
huwait
ٱلْهُدَىٰ ۖ
l-hudā(is) the Guidance
وَأُمِرْنَا
wa-umir'nāand we have been commanded
لِنُسْلِمَ
linus'limathat we submit
لِرَبِّ
lirabbito (the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٧١
(71)
Say, "Shall we invoke instead of Allāh that which neither benefits us nor harms us and be turned back on our heels after Allāh has guided us? [We would then be] like one whom the devils enticed [to wander] upon the earth confused, [while] he has companions inviting him to guidance, [calling], 'Come to us.'" Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allāh is the [only] guidance; and we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds.

أَقِيمُوا۟
aqīmūestablish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalatathe prayer
وَٱتَّقُوهُ ۚ
wa-ittaqūhuand fear Him
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī(is) the One
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhito Him
تُحْشَرُونَ
tuḥ'sharūnayou will be gathered
٧٢
(72)
And to establish prayer and fear Him." And it is He to whom you will be gathered.

wahuwaAnd (it is) He
ٱلَّذِى

خَلَقَ
khalaqacreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ
bil-ḥaqiin truth
وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaAnd (the) Day
يَقُولُ
yaqūluHe says
كُن
kunBe
فَيَكُونُ ۚ
fayakūnuand it is
قَوْلُهُ
qawluhuHis word
ٱلْحَقُّ ۚ
l-ḥaqu(is) the truth
وَلَهُ
walahuAnd for Him
ٱلْمُلْكُ
l-mul'ku(is) the Dominion
يَوْمَ
yawma(on the) Day
يُنفَخُ
yunfakhuwill be blown
فِى
in
ٱلصُّورِ ۚ
l-ṣūrithe trumpet
عَـٰلِمُ
ʿālimu(He is) All-Knower
ٱلْغَيْبِ
l-ghaybi(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ۚ
wal-shahādatiand the seen
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmu(is) the All-Wise
ٱلْخَبِيرُ
l-khabīruthe All-Aware
٧٣
(73)
And it is He who created the heavens and earth in truth. And the day [i.e., whenever] He says, "Be," and it is, His word is the truth. And His is the dominion [on] the Day the Horn is blown. [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed; and He is the Wise, the Aware.

۞ وَإِذْ
wa-idhAnd when
قَالَ
qālasaid
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
ib'rāhīmuIbrahim
لِأَبِيهِ
li-abīhito his father
ءَازَرَ
āzaraAzar
أَتَتَّخِذُ
atattakhidhuDo you take
أَصْنَامًا
aṣnāmanidols
ءَالِهَةً ۖ
ālihatan(as) gods
إِنِّىٓ
innīIndeed, I
أَرَىٰكَ
arāka[I] see you
وَقَوْمَكَ
waqawmakaand your people
فِى
in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ
ḍalālinerror
مُّبِينٍۢ
mubīninmanifest
٧٤
(74)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said to his father Āzar, "Do you take idols as deities? Indeed, I see you and your people to be in manifest error."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
نُرِىٓ
nurīWe show(ed)
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīmaIbrahim
مَلَكُوتَ
malakūtathe kingdom
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍiand the earth
وَلِيَكُونَ
waliyakūnaso that he would be
مِنَ
minaamong
ٱلْمُوقِنِينَ
l-mūqinīnathe ones who are certain
٧٥
(75)
And thus did We show Abraham the realm of the heavens and the earth that he would be among the certain [in faith].

فَلَمَّا
falammāSo when
جَنَّ
jannacovered
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhiover him
ٱلَّيْلُ
al-layluthe night
رَءَا
raāhe saw
كَوْكَبًۭا ۖ
kawkabana star
قَالَ
qālaHe said
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
رَبِّى ۖ
rabbī(is) my Lord
فَلَمَّآ
falammāBut when
أَفَلَ
afalait set
قَالَ
qālahe said
لَآ
Not
أُحِبُّ
uḥibbu(do) I like
ٱلْـَٔافِلِينَ
l-āfilīnathe ones that set
٧٦
(76)
So when the night covered him [with darkness], he saw a star. He said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "I like not those that set [i.e., disappear]."

فَلَمَّا
falammāWhen
رَءَا
raāhe saw
ٱلْقَمَرَ
l-qamarathe moon
بَازِغًۭا
bāzighanrising
قَالَ
qālahe said
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
رَبِّى ۖ
rabbī(is) my Lord
فَلَمَّآ
falammāBut when
أَفَلَ
afalait set
قَالَ
qālahe said
لَئِن
la-inIf
لَّمْ
lam(does) not
يَهْدِنِى
yahdinīguide me
رَبِّى
rabbīmy Lord
لَأَكُونَنَّ
la-akūnannaI will surely be
مِنَ
minaamong
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmithe people
ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
l-ḍālīnawho went astray
٧٧
(77)
And when he saw the moon rising, he said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the people gone astray."

فَلَمَّا
falammāWhen
رَءَا
raāhe saw
ٱلشَّمْسَ
l-shamsathe sun
بَازِغَةًۭ
bāzighatanrising
قَالَ
qālahe said
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis (is)
رَبِّى
rabbīmy Lord
هَـٰذَآ
hādhāthis (is)
أَكْبَرُ ۖ
akbarugreater
فَلَمَّآ
falammāBut when
أَفَلَتْ
afalatit set
قَالَ
qālahe said
يَـٰقَوْمِ
yāqawmiO my people
إِنِّى
innīIndeed, I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭ
barīonfree
مِّمَّا
mimmāof what
تُشْرِكُونَ
tush'rikūnayou associate (with Allah)
٧٨
(78)
And when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my lord; this is greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allāh.

إِنِّى
innīIndeed, I
وَجَّهْتُ
wajjahtu[I] have turned
وَجْهِىَ
wajhiyamy face
لِلَّذِى
lilladhīto the One Who
فَطَرَ
faṭaracreated
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍaand the earth
حَنِيفًۭا ۖ
ḥanīfan(as) a true monotheist
وَمَآ
wamāand not
أَنَا۠
anāI (am)
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
٧٩
(79)
Indeed, I have turned my face [i.e., self] toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allāh."

وَحَآجَّهُۥ
waḥājjahuAnd argued with him
قَوْمُهُۥ ۚ
qawmuhuhis people
قَالَ
qālaHe said
أَتُحَـٰٓجُّوٓنِّى
atuḥājjūnnīDo you argue with me
فِى
concerning
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
وَقَدْ
waqadwhile certainly
هَدَىٰنِ ۚ
hadāniHe has guided me
وَلَآ
walāAnd not
أَخَافُ
akhāfu(do) I fear
مَا
what
تُشْرِكُونَ
tush'rikūnayou associate
بِهِۦٓ
bihiwith Him
إِلَّآ
illāunless
أَن
an[that]
يَشَآءَ
yashāawills
رَبِّى
rabbīmy Lord
شَيْـًۭٔا ۗ
shayananything
وَسِعَ
wasiʿaEncompasses
رَبِّى
rabbīmy Lord
كُلَّ
kullaevery
شَىْءٍ
shayinthing
عِلْمًا ۗ
ʿil'man(in) knowledge
أَفَلَا
afalāThen will not
تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
tatadhakkarūnayou take heed
٨٠
(80)
And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allāh while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; then will you not remember?

وَكَيْفَ
wakayfaAnd how
أَخَافُ
akhāfucould I fear
مَآ
what
أَشْرَكْتُمْ
ashraktumyou associate (with Allah)
وَلَا
walāwhile not
تَخَافُونَ
takhāfūnayou fear
أَنَّكُمْ
annakumthat you
أَشْرَكْتُم
ashraktumhave associated
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahiwith Allah
مَا
what
لَمْ
lamnot
يُنَزِّلْ
yunazzildid He send down
بِهِۦ
bihifor it
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykumto you
سُلْطَـٰنًۭا ۚ
sul'ṭānanany authority
فَأَىُّ
fa-ayyuSo which
ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ
l-farīqayni(of) the two parties
أَحَقُّ
aḥaqquhas more right
بِٱلْأَمْنِ ۖ
bil-amnito security
إِن
inif
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnaknow
٨١
(81)
And how should I fear what you associate while you do not fear that you have associated with Allāh that for which He has not sent down to you any authority? So which of the two parties has more right to security, if you should know?"

ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnaThose who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanūbelieved
وَلَمْ
walamand (did) not
يَلْبِسُوٓا۟
yalbisūmix
إِيمَـٰنَهُم
īmānahumtheir belief
بِظُلْمٍ
biẓul'minwith wrong
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikathose
لَهُمُ
lahumufor them
ٱلْأَمْنُ
l-amnu(is) the security
وَهُم
wahumand they
مُّهْتَدُونَ
muh'tadūna(are) rightly guided
٨٢
(82)
They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice - those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.

83
وَتِلْكَ
watil'kaAnd this
حُجَّتُنَآ
ḥujjatunā(is) Our argument
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهَآ
ātaynāhāWe gave it
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma(to) Ibrahim
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāagainst
قَوْمِهِۦ ۚ
qawmihihis people
نَرْفَعُ
narfaʿuWe raise
دَرَجَـٰتٍۢ
darajātin(by) degrees
مَّن
manwhom
نَّشَآءُ ۗ
nashāuWe will
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbakayour Lord
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun(is) All-Wise
عَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunAll-Knowing
٨٣
(83)
And that was Our [conclusive] argument which We gave Abraham against his people. We raise by degrees whom We will. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing.

وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnāAnd We bestowed
لَهُۥٓ
lahuto him
إِسْحَـٰقَ
is'ḥāqaIsaac
وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚ
wayaʿqūbaand Yaqub
كُلًّا
kullanall
هَدَيْنَا ۚ
hadaynāWe guided
وَنُوحًا
wanūḥanAnd Nuh
هَدَيْنَا
hadaynāWe guided
مِن
minfrom
قَبْلُ ۖ
qablubefore
وَمِن
waminand of
ذُرِّيَّتِهِۦ
dhurriyyatihihis descendents
دَاوُۥدَ
dāwūdaDawood
وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ
wasulaymānaand Sulaiman
وَأَيُّوبَ
wa-ayyūbaand Ayyub
وَيُوسُفَ
wayūsufaand Yusuf
وَمُوسَىٰ
wamūsāand Musa
وَهَـٰرُونَ ۚ
wahārūnaand Harun
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
نَجْزِى
najzīWe reward
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
l-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
٨٤
(84)
And We gave to him [i.e., Abraham] Isaac and Jacob - all [of them] We guided. And Noah, We guided before; and among his descendants, David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the doers of good.

وَزَكَرِيَّا
wazakariyyāAnd Zakariya
وَيَحْيَىٰ
wayaḥyāand Yahya
وَعِيسَىٰ
waʿīsāand Isa
وَإِلْيَاسَ ۖ
wa-il'yāsaand Elijah
كُلٌّۭ
kullunall (were)
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
l-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
٨٥
(85)
And Zechariah and John and Jesus and Elias - and all were of the righteous.

وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ
wa-is'māʿīlaAnd Ishmael
وَٱلْيَسَعَ
wal-yasaʿaand Elisha
وَيُونُسَ
wayūnusaand Yunus
وَلُوطًۭا ۚ
walūṭanand Lut
وَكُلًّۭا
wakullanand all
فَضَّلْنَا
faḍḍalnāWe preferred
عَلَى
ʿalāover
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīnathe worlds
٨٦
(86)
And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot - and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds.

وَمِنْ
waminAnd from
ءَابَآئِهِمْ
ābāihimtheir fathers
وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْ
wadhurriyyātihimand their descendents
وَإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ ۖ
wa-ikh'wānihimand their brothers
وَٱجْتَبَيْنَـٰهُمْ
wa-ij'tabaynāhumand We chose them
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمْ
wahadaynāhumand We guided them
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
صِرَٰطٍۢ
ṣirāṭina path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
mus'taqīminstraight
٨٧
(87)
And [some] among their fathers and their descendants and their brothers - and We chose them and We guided them to a straight path.

ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikaThat
هُدَى
hudā(is the) Guidance
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
يَهْدِى
yahdīHe guides
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
مَن
manwhom
يَشَآءُ
yashāuHe wills
مِنْ
minof
عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ
ʿibādihiHis slaves
وَلَوْ
walawBut if
أَشْرَكُوا۟
ashrakūthey (had) associated partners (with Allah)
لَحَبِطَ
laḥabiṭasurely (would be) worthless
عَنْهُم
ʿanhumfor them
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnado
٨٨
(88)
That is the guidance of Allāh by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allāh, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(are) ones whom
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ
ātaynāhumuWe gave them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitābathe Book
وَٱلْحُكْمَ
wal-ḥuk'maand the judgment
وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ ۚ
wal-nubuwataand the Prophethood
فَإِن
fa-inBut if
يَكْفُرْ
yakfurdisbelieve
بِهَا
bihāin it
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāithese
فَقَدْ
faqadthen indeed
وَكَّلْنَا
wakkalnāWe have entrusted
بِهَا
bihāit
قَوْمًۭا
qawman(to) a people
لَّيْسُوا۟
laysūwho are not
بِهَا
bihātherein
بِكَـٰفِرِينَ
bikāfirīnadisbelievers
٨٩
(89)
Those are the ones to whom We gave the Scripture and authority and prophethood. But if they [i.e., the disbelievers] deny it, then We have entrusted it to a people who are not therein disbelievers.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(are) ones whom
هَدَى
hadā(have been) guided
ٱللَّهُ ۖ
l-lahu(by) Allah
فَبِهُدَىٰهُمُ
fabihudāhumuso of their guidance
ٱقْتَدِهْ ۗ
iq'tadihyou follow
قُل
qulSay
لَّآ
Not
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ
asalukumI ask you
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhifor it
أَجْرًا ۖ
ajranany reward
إِنْ
inNot
هُوَ
huwa(is) it
إِلَّا
illābut
ذِكْرَىٰ
dhik'rāa reminder
لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
lil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
٩٠
(90)
Those are the ones whom Allāh has guided, so from their guidance take an example. Say, "I ask of you for it [i.e., this message] no payment. It is not but a reminder for the worlds."

ٱللَّهَ

حَقَّ
ḥaqqa(with) true
قَدْرِهِۦٓ
qadrihi[of his] appraisal
إِذْ
idhwhen
قَالُوا۟
qālūthey said
مَآ
Not
أَنزَلَ
anzalarevealed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu(by) Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
بَشَرٍۢ
basharina human being
مِّن
min[of]
شَىْءٍۢ ۗ
shayinanything
قُلْ
qulSay
مَنْ
manWho
أَنزَلَ
anzalarevealed
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitābathe Book
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīwhich
جَآءَ
jāabrought
بِهِۦ
bihi[it]
مُوسَىٰ
mūsāMusa
نُورًۭا
nūran(as) a light
وَهُدًۭى
wahudanand guidance
لِّلنَّاسِ ۖ
lilnnāsifor the people
تَجْعَلُونَهُۥ
tajʿalūnahuYou make it
قَرَاطِيسَ
qarāṭīsa(into) parchments
تُبْدُونَهَا
tub'dūnahāyou disclose (some of) it
وَتُخْفُونَ
watukh'fūnaand you conceal
كَثِيرًۭا ۖ
kathīranmuch (of it)
وَعُلِّمْتُم
waʿullim'tumAnd you were taught
مَّا
what
لَمْ
lamnot
تَعْلَمُوٓا۟
taʿlamūknew
أَنتُمْ
antumyou
وَلَآ
walāand not
ءَابَآؤُكُمْ ۖ
ābāukumyour forefathers
قُلِ
quliSay
ٱللَّهُ ۖ
l-lahuAllah (revealed it)
ثُمَّ
thummaThen
ذَرْهُمْ
dharhumleave them
فِى
in
خَوْضِهِمْ
khawḍihimtheir discourse
يَلْعَبُونَ
yalʿabūnaplaying
٩١
(91)
And they did not appraise Allāh with true appraisal when they said, "Allāh did not reveal to a human being anything." Say, "Who revealed the Scripture that Moses brought as light and guidance to the people? You [Jews] make it into pages, disclosing [some of] it and concealing much. And you were taught that which you knew not - neither you nor your fathers." Say, "Allāh [revealed it]." Then leave them in their [empty] discourse, amusing themselves.

وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhāAnd this
كِتَـٰبٌ
kitābun(is) a Book
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ
anzalnāhuWe have revealed it
مُبَارَكٌۭ
mubārakunblessed
مُّصَدِّقُ
muṣaddiquconfirming
ٱلَّذِى
alladhīwhich
بَيْنَ
bayna(came) before
يَدَيْهِ
yadayhiits hands
وَلِتُنذِرَ
walitundhiraso that you may warn
أُمَّ
umma(the) mother
ٱلْقُرَىٰ
l-qurā(of) the cities
وَمَنْ
wamanand who
حَوْلَهَا ۚ
ḥawlahā(are) around it
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīnaAnd those who
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
bil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnathey believe
بِهِۦ ۖ
bihiin it
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāover
صَلَاتِهِمْ
ṣalātihimtheir prayers
يُحَافِظُونَ
yuḥāfiẓūna(are) guarding
٩٢
(92)
And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities [i.e., Makkah] and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are maintaining their prayers.

وَمَنْ
wamanAnd who
أَظْلَمُ
aẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنِ
mimmanithan (one) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰ
if'tarāinvents
عَلَى
ʿalāabout
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
كَذِبًا
kadhibana lie
أَوْ
awor
قَالَ
qālasaid
أُوحِىَ
ūḥiyaIt has been inspired
إِلَىَّ
ilayyato me
وَلَمْ
walamwhile not
يُوحَ
yūḥait was inspired
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhito him
شَىْءٌۭ
shayonanything
وَمَن
wamanand (one) who
قَالَ
qālasaid
سَأُنزِلُ
sa-unziluI will reveal
مِثْلَ
mith'lalike
مَآ
what
أَنزَلَ
anzala(has been) revealed
ٱللَّهُ ۗ
l-lahu(by) Allah
وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
تَرَىٰٓ
tarāyou (could) see
إِذِ
idhiwhen
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
فِى
(are) in
غَمَرَٰتِ
ghamarātiagonies
ٱلْمَوْتِ
l-mawti(of) [the] death
وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
wal-malāikatuwhile the Angels
بَاسِطُوٓا۟
bāsiṭū(are) stretching out
أَيْدِيهِمْ
aydīhimtheir hands (saying)
أَخْرِجُوٓا۟
akhrijūDischarge
أَنفُسَكُمُ ۖ
anfusakumuyour souls
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawmaToday
تُجْزَوْنَ
tuj'zawnayou will be recompensed
عَذَابَ
ʿadhāba(with) punishment
ٱلْهُونِ
l-hūnihumiliating
بِمَا
bimābecause
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou used to
تَقُولُونَ
taqūlūnasay
عَلَى
ʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
غَيْرَ
ghayraother than
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqithe truth
وَكُنتُمْ
wakuntumand you were
عَنْ
ʿantowards
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ
āyātihiHis Verses
تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
tastakbirūnabeing arrogant
٩٣
(93)
And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allāh or says, "It has been inspired to me," while nothing has been inspired to him, and one who says, "I will reveal [something] like what Allāh revealed." And if you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming pangs of death while the angels extend their hands, [saying], "Discharge your souls! Today you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation for what you used to say against Allāh other than the truth and [that] you were, toward His verses, being arrogant."

وَلَقَدْ
walaqadAnd certainly
جِئْتُمُونَا
ji'tumūnāyou have come to Us
فُرَٰدَىٰ
furādāalone
كَمَا
kamāas
خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ
khalaqnākumWe created you
أَوَّلَ
awwala(the) first
مَرَّةٍۢ
marratintime
وَتَرَكْتُم
wataraktumand you have left
مَّا
whatever
خَوَّلْنَـٰكُمْ
khawwalnākumWe bestowed (on) you
وَرَآءَ
warāabehind
ظُهُورِكُمْ ۖ
ẓuhūrikumyour backs
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
نَرَىٰ
narāWe see
مَعَكُمْ
maʿakumwith you
شُفَعَآءَكُمُ
shufaʿāakumuyour intercessors
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose whom
زَعَمْتُمْ
zaʿamtumyou claimed
أَنَّهُمْ
annahumthat they (were)
فِيكُمْ
fīkumin your (matters)
شُرَكَـٰٓؤُا۟ ۚ
shurakāupartners (with Allah)
لَقَد
laqadIndeed
تَّقَطَّعَ
taqaṭṭaʿahave been severed (bonds)
بَيْنَكُمْ
baynakumbetween you
وَضَلَّ
waḍallaand is lost
عَنكُم
ʿankumfrom you
مَّا
what
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou used to
تَزْعُمُونَ
tazʿumūnaclaim
٩٤
(94)
[It will be said to them], "And you have certainly come to Us alone [i.e., individually] as We created you the first time, and you have left whatever We bestowed upon you behind you. And We do not see with you your 'intercessors' which you claimed that they were among you associates [of Allāh]. It has [all] been severed between you, and lost from you is what you used to claim."

۞ إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
فَالِقُ
fāliqu(is the) Cleaver
ٱلْحَبِّ
l-ḥabi(of) the grain
وَٱلنَّوَىٰ ۖ
wal-nawāand the date-seed
يُخْرِجُ
yukh'rijuHe brings forth
ٱلْحَىَّ
l-ḥayathe living
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْمَيِّتِ
l-mayitithe dead
وَمُخْرِجُ
wamukh'rijuand brings forth
ٱلْمَيِّتِ
l-mayitithe dead
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْحَىِّ ۚ
l-ḥayithe living
ذَٰلِكُمُ
dhālikumuThat
ٱللَّهُ ۖ
l-lahu(is) Allah
فَأَنَّىٰ
fa-annāso how
تُؤْفَكُونَ
tu'fakūnaare you deluded
٩٥
(95)
Indeed, Allāh is the cleaver of grain and date seeds. He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living. That is Allāh; so how are you deluded?

فَالِقُ
fāliqu(He is the) Cleaver
ٱلْإِصْبَاحِ
l-iṣ'bāḥi(of) the daybreak
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿalaand He has made
ٱلَّيْلَ
al-laylathe night
سَكَنًۭا
sakanan(for) rest
وَٱلشَّمْسَ
wal-shamsaand the sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ
wal-qamaraand the moon
حُسْبَانًۭا ۚ
ḥus'bānan(for) reckoning
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikaThat
تَقْدِيرُ
taqdīru(is the) ordaining
ٱلْعَزِيزِ
l-ʿazīzi(of) the All-Mighty
ٱلْعَلِيمِ
l-ʿalīmithe All-Knowing
٩٦
(96)
[He is] the cleaver of daybreak and has made the night for rest and the sun and moon for calculation. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَ
jaʿalamade
لَكُمُ
lakumufor you
ٱلنُّجُومَ
l-nujūmathe stars
لِتَهْتَدُوا۟
litahtadūthat you may guide yourselves
بِهَا
bihāwith them
فِى
in
ظُلُمَـٰتِ
ẓulumātithe darkness[es]
ٱلْبَرِّ
l-bari(of) the land
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۗ
wal-baḥriand the sea
قَدْ
qadCertainly
فَصَّلْنَا
faṣṣalnāWe have made clear
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyātithe Signs
لِقَوْمٍۢ
liqawminfor a people
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna(who) know
٩٧
(97)
And it is He who placed for you the stars that you may be guided by them through the darknesses of the land and sea. We have detailed the signs for a people who know.

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī(is) the One Who
أَنشَأَكُم
ansha-akum(has) produced you
مِّن
minfrom
نَّفْسٍۢ
nafsina soul
وَٰحِدَةٍۢ
wāḥidatinsingle
فَمُسْتَقَرٌّۭ
famus'taqarrunso (there is) a place of dwelling
وَمُسْتَوْدَعٌۭ ۗ
wamus'tawdaʿunand a resting place
قَدْ
qadCertainly
فَصَّلْنَا
faṣṣalnāWe have made clear
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyātithe Signs
لِقَوْمٍۢ
liqawminfor a people
يَفْقَهُونَ
yafqahūna(who) understand
٩٨
(98)
And it is He who produced you from one soul and [gave you] a place of dwelling and of storage. We have detailed the signs for a people who understand.

ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī(is) the One Who
أَنزَلَ

مِنَ

ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāithe sky
مَآءًۭ

فَأَخْرَجْنَا
fa-akhrajnāthen We bring forth
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
نَبَاتَ
nabātavegetation
كُلِّ
kulli(of) every
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinthing
فَأَخْرَجْنَا
fa-akhrajnāThen We bring forth
مِنْهُ
min'hufrom it
خَضِرًۭا
khaḍirangreen plant
نُّخْرِجُ
nukh'rijuWe bring forth
مِنْهُ
min'hufrom it
حَبًّۭا
ḥabbangrain
مُّتَرَاكِبًۭا
mutarākibanthick clustered
وَمِنَ
waminaAnd from
ٱلنَّخْلِ
l-nakhlithe date-palm
مِن
minfrom
طَلْعِهَا
ṭalʿihāits spathe
قِنْوَانٌۭ
qin'wānunclusters of dates
دَانِيَةٌۭ
dāniyatunhanging low
وَجَنَّـٰتٍۢ
wajannātinAnd gardens
مِّنْ
minof
أَعْنَابٍۢ
aʿnābingrapes
وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ
wal-zaytūnaand the olives
وَٱلرُّمَّانَ
wal-rumānaand the pomegranates
مُشْتَبِهًۭا
mush'tabihanresembling
وَغَيْرَ
waghayraand not
مُتَشَـٰبِهٍ ۗ
mutashābihinresembling
ٱنظُرُوٓا۟
unẓurūLook
إِلَىٰ
ilāat
ثَمَرِهِۦٓ
thamarihiits fruit
إِذَآ
idhāwhen
أَثْمَرَ
athmarait bears fruit
وَيَنْعِهِۦٓ ۚ
wayanʿihiand its ripening
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكُمْ
dhālikumthat
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ
laāyātin(are) signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢ
liqawminfor a people
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna(who) believe
٩٩
(99)
And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees - of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.

وَجَعَلُوا۟
wajaʿalūAnd they make
لِلَّهِ
lillahiwith Allah
شُرَكَآءَ
shurakāapartners
ٱلْجِنَّ
l-jinajinn
وَخَلَقَهُمْ ۖ
wakhalaqahumthough He has created them
وَخَرَقُوا۟
wakharaqūand they falsely attribute
لَهُۥ
lahuto Him
بَنِينَ
banīnasons
وَبَنَـٰتٍۭ
wabanātinand daughters
بِغَيْرِ
bighayriwithout
عِلْمٍۢ ۚ
ʿil'minknowledge
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ
sub'ḥānahuGlorified is He
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ
wataʿālāand Exalted
عَمَّا
ʿammāabove what
يَصِفُونَ
yaṣifūnathey attribute
١٠٠
(100)
But they have attributed to Allāh partners - the jinn, while He has created them - and have fabricated for Him sons and daughters without knowledge. Exalted is He and high above what they describe.

بَدِيعُ
badīʿuOriginator
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ
wal-arḍiand the earth
أَنَّىٰ
annāHow
يَكُونُ
yakūnucan be
لَهُۥ
lahufor Him
وَلَدٌۭ
waladuna son
وَلَمْ
walamwhile not
تَكُن
takun(there) is
لَّهُۥ
lahufor Him
صَـٰحِبَةٌۭ ۖ
ṣāḥibatuna companion
وَخَلَقَ
wakhalaqaand He created
كُلَّ
kullaevery
شَىْءٍۢ ۖ
shayinthing
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
بِكُلِّ
bikulli(is) of every
شَىْءٍ
shayinthing
عَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunAll-Knower
١٠١
(101)
[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion [i.e., wife] and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.

ذَٰلِكُمُ
dhālikumuThat
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمْ ۖ
rabbukumyour Lord
لَآ
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāhagod
إِلَّا
illāexcept
هُوَ ۖ
huwaHim
خَـٰلِقُ
khāliqu(the) Creator
كُلِّ
kulli(of) every
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinthing
فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ
fa-uʿ'budūhuso worship Him
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā(is) on
كُلِّ
kullievery
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinthing
وَكِيلٌۭ
wakīluna Guardian
١٠٢
(102)
That is Allāh, your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Disposer of all things.

Not (can)
تُدْرِكُهُ
tud'rikuhugrasp Him
ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ
l-abṣāruthe visions
وَهُوَ
wahuwabut He
يُدْرِكُ
yud'riku(can) grasp
ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ ۖ
l-abṣāra(all) the vision
وَهُوَ
wahuwaand He (is)
ٱللَّطِيفُ
l-laṭīfuthe All-Subtle
ٱلْخَبِيرُ
l-khabīruthe All-Aware
١٠٣
(103)
Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Aware.

qadVerily
جَآءَكُم
jāakumhas come to you
بَصَآئِرُ
baṣāiruenlightenment
مِن
minfrom
رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ
rabbikumyour Lord
فَمَنْ
famanThen whoever
أَبْصَرَ
abṣarasees
فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ
falinafsihithen (it is) for his soul
وَمَنْ
wamanand whoever
عَمِىَ
ʿamiya(is) blind
فَعَلَيْهَا ۚ
faʿalayhāthen (it is) against himself
وَمَآ
wamāAnd not
أَنَا۠
anā(am) I
عَلَيْكُم
ʿalaykumover you
بِحَفِيظٍۢ
biḥafīẓina guardian
١٠٤
(104)
There has come to you enlightenment from your Lord. So whoever will see does so for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever is blind [does harm] against it. And [say], "I am not a guardian over you."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
نُصَرِّفُ
nuṣarrifuWe explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyātithe Signs
وَلِيَقُولُوا۟
waliyaqūlūthat they (may) say
دَرَسْتَ
darastaYou have studied
وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُۥ
walinubayyinahuand that We (may) make it clear
لِقَوْمٍۢ
liqawminfor a people
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnawho know
١٠٥
(105)
And thus do We diversify the verses so they [i.e., the disbelievers] will say, "You have studied," and so We may make it [i.e., the Qur’ān] clear for a people who know.

ٱتَّبِعْ
ittabiʿFollow
مَآ
what
أُوحِىَ
ūḥiyahas been inspired
إِلَيْكَ
ilaykato you
مِن
minfrom
رَّبِّكَ ۖ
rabbikayour Lord
لَآ
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāhagod
إِلَّا
illāexcept
هُوَ ۖ
huwaHim
وَأَعْرِضْ
wa-aʿriḍand turn away
عَنِ
ʿanifrom
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
١٠٦
(106)
Follow, [O Muḥammad], what has been revealed to you from your Lord - there is no deity except Him - and turn away from those who associate others with Allāh.

وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
شَآءَ
shāa(had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
مَآ
not (they would have)
أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۗ
ashrakūassociated partners (with Him)
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
جَعَلْنَـٰكَ
jaʿalnākaWe have made you
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimover them
حَفِيظًۭا ۖ
ḥafīẓana guardian
وَمَآ
wamāand not
أَنتَ
antayou
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim(are) over them
بِوَكِيلٍۢ
biwakīlina manager
١٠٧
(107)
But if Allāh had willed, they would not have associated. And We have not appointed you over them as a guardian, nor are you a manager over them.

walāAnd (do) not
تَسُبُّوا۟
tasubbūinsult
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose whom
يَدْعُونَ
yadʿūnathey invoke
مِن
minfrom
دُونِ
dūniother than
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
فَيَسُبُّوا۟
fayasubbūlest they insult
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
عَدْوًۢا
ʿadwan(in) enmity
بِغَيْرِ
bighayriwithout
عِلْمٍۢ ۗ
ʿil'minknowledge
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālikaThus
زَيَّنَّا
zayyannāWe have made fair-seeming
لِكُلِّ
likullito every
أُمَّةٍ
ummatincommunity
عَمَلَهُمْ
ʿamalahumtheir deed
ثُمَّ
thummaThen
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
رَبِّهِم
rabbihimtheir Lord
مَّرْجِعُهُمْ
marjiʿuhum(is) their return
فَيُنَبِّئُهُم
fayunabbi-uhumthen He will inform them
بِمَا
bimāabout what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnado
١٠٨
(108)
And do not insult those they invoke other than Allāh, lest they insult Allāh in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟
wa-aqsamūAnd they swear
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahiby Allah
جَهْدَ
jahdastrongest
أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ
aymānihim(of) their oaths
لَئِن
la-inthat if
جَآءَتْهُمْ
jāathumcame to them
ءَايَةٌۭ
āyatuna sign
لَّيُؤْمِنُنَّ
layu'minunnathey would surely believe
بِهَا ۚ
bihāin it
قُلْ
qulSay
إِنَّمَا
innamāOnly
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتُ
l-āyātuthe signs
عِندَ
ʿinda(are) with
ٱللَّهِ ۖ
l-lahiAllah
وَمَا
wamāAnd what
يُشْعِرُكُمْ
yush'ʿirukumwill make you perceive
أَنَّهَآ
annahāthat [it]
إِذَا
idhāwhen
جَآءَتْ
jāatit comes
لَا
not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnathey will believe
١٠٩
(109)
And they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, "The signs are only with [i.e., from] Allāh." And what will make you perceive that even if it [i.e., a sign] came, they would not believe.

وَنُقَلِّبُ
wanuqallibuAnd We will turn
أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْ
afidatahumtheir hearts
وَأَبْصَـٰرَهُمْ
wa-abṣārahumand their sights
كَمَا
kamā(just) as
لَمْ
lamnot
يُؤْمِنُوا۟
yu'minūthey believe
بِهِۦٓ
bihiin it
أَوَّلَ
awwala(the) first
مَرَّةٍۢ
marratintime
وَنَذَرُهُمْ
wanadharuhumAnd We will leave them
فِى
in
طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ
ṭugh'yānihimtheir transgression
يَعْمَهُونَ
yaʿmahūnawandering blindly
١١٠
(110)
And We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it [i.e., the revelation] the first time. And We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly.

۞ وَلَوْ
walawAnd (even) if
أَنَّنَا
annanā[that] We (had)
نَزَّلْنَآ
nazzalnā[We] sent down
إِلَيْهِمُ
ilayhimuto them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ
l-malāikatathe Angels
وَكَلَّمَهُمُ
wakallamahumuand spoken to them
ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ
l-mawtāthe dead
وَحَشَرْنَا
waḥasharnāand We gathered
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimbefore them
كُلَّ
kullaevery
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinthing
قُبُلًۭا
qubulanface to face
مَّا
not
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey were
لِيُؤْمِنُوٓا۟
liyu'minūto believe
إِلَّآ
illāunless
أَن
an[that]
يَشَآءَ
yashāawills
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinnaBut
أَكْثَرَهُمْ
aktharahummost of them
يَجْهَلُونَ
yajhalūna(are) ignorant
١١١
(111)
And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message] and the dead spoke to them [of it] and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not believe unless Allāh should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnāWe made
لِكُلِّ
likullifor every
نَبِىٍّ
nabiyyinProphet
عَدُوًّۭا
ʿaduwwanan enemy
شَيَـٰطِينَ
shayāṭīnadevils
ٱلْإِنسِ
l-insi(from) the mankind
وَٱلْجِنِّ
wal-jiniand the jinn
يُوحِى
yūḥīinspiring
بَعْضُهُمْ
baʿḍuhumsome of them
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
بَعْضٍۢ
baʿḍinothers
زُخْرُفَ
zukh'rufa(with) decorative
ٱلْقَوْلِ
l-qawli[the] speech
غُرُورًۭا ۚ
ghurūran(in) deception
وَلَوْ
walawBut if
شَآءَ
shāa(had) willed
رَبُّكَ
rabbukayour Lord
مَا
not
فَعَلُوهُ ۖ
faʿalūhuthey (would) have done it
فَذَرْهُمْ
fadharhumso leave them
وَمَا
wamāand what
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūnathey invent
١١٢
(112)
And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent.

وَلِتَصْغَىٰٓ
walitaṣghāAnd so that incline
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhito it
أَفْـِٔدَةُ
afidatuhearts
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(of) those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
bil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ
waliyarḍawhuand so that they may be pleased with it
وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا۟
waliyaqtarifūand so that they may commit
مَا
what
هُم
humthey
مُّقْتَرِفُونَ
muq'tarifūna(are) committing
١١٣
(113)
And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it [i.e., deceptive speech] and that they will be satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing.

أَفَغَيْرَ
afaghayraThen is (it) other than
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
أَبْتَغِى
abtaghīI seek
حَكَمًۭا
ḥakaman(as) judge
وَهُوَ
wahuwawhile He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī(is) the One Who
أَنزَلَ
anzalahas revealed
إِلَيْكُمُ
ilaykumuto you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitābathe Book
مُفَصَّلًۭا ۚ
mufaṣṣalanexplained in detail
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīnaAnd those (to) whom
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ
ātaynāhumuWe gave them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitābathe Book
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnathey know
أَنَّهُۥ
annahuthat it
مُنَزَّلٌۭ
munazzalun(is) sent down
مِّن
minfrom
رَّبِّكَ
rabbikayour Lord
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ
bil-ḥaqiin truth
فَلَا
falāso (do) not
تَكُونَنَّ
takūnannabe
مِنَ
minaamong
ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ
l-mum'tarīnathe ones who doubt
١١٤
(114)
[Say], "Then is it other than Allāh I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] explained in detail?" And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.

وَتَمَّتْ
watammatAnd (has been) fulfilled
كَلِمَتُ
kalimatu(the) word
رَبِّكَ
rabbika(of) your Lord
صِدْقًۭا
ṣid'qan(in) truth
وَعَدْلًۭا ۚ
waʿadlanand justice
لَّا
No
مُبَدِّلَ
mubaddilaone can change
لِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ ۚ
likalimātihiHis words
وَهُوَ
wahuwaand He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
l-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
١١٥
(115)
And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

وَإِن
wa-inAnd if
تُطِعْ
tuṭiʿyou obey
أَكْثَرَ
aktharamost
مَن
manof
فِى
(those) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍithe earth
يُضِلُّوكَ
yuḍillūkathey will mislead you
عَن
ʿanfrom
سَبِيلِ
sabīli(the) way
ٱللَّهِ ۚ
l-lahi(of) Allah
إِن
inNot
يَتَّبِعُونَ
yattabiʿūnathey follow
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱلظَّنَّ
l-ẓana[the] assumption
وَإِنْ
wa-inand not
هُمْ
humthey (do)
إِلَّا
illāexcept
يَخْرُصُونَ
yakhruṣūnaguess
١١٦
(116)
And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allāh. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but misjudging.

هُوَ

أَعْلَمُ

يَضِلُّ
yaḍillustrays
عَن
ʿanfrom
سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖ
sabīlihiHis way
وَهُوَ
wahuwaand He
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu(is) most knowing
بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
bil-muh'tadīnaof the guided-ones
١١٧
(117)
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

ذُكِرَ

ٱسْمُ
us'mu(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhion it
إِن

كُنتُم
kuntumyou are
بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦ
biāyātihiin His Verses
مُؤْمِنِينَ
mu'minīnabelievers
١١٨
(118)
So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allāh has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses [i.e., revealed law].

وَمَا
wamāAnd what
لَكُمْ
lakumfor you
أَلَّا
allāthat not
تَأْكُلُوا۟
takulūyou eat
مِمَّا
mimmāof what
ذُكِرَ
dhukirahas been mentioned
ٱسْمُ
us'mu(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhion it
وَقَدْ
waqadwhen indeed
فَصَّلَ
faṣṣalaHe (has) explained in detail
لَكُم
lakumto you
مَّا
what
حَرَّمَ
ḥarramaHe (has) forbidden
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykumto you
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مَا
what
ٱضْطُرِرْتُمْ
uḍ'ṭurir'tumyou are compelled
إِلَيْهِ ۗ
ilayhito it
وَإِنَّ
wa-innaAnd indeed
كَثِيرًۭا
kathīranmany
لَّيُضِلُّونَ
layuḍillūnasurely lead astray
بِأَهْوَآئِهِم
bi-ahwāihimby their (vain) desires
بِغَيْرِ
bighayriwithout
عِلْمٍ ۗ
ʿil'minknowledge
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbakayour Lord
هُوَ
huwaHe
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu(is) most knowing
بِٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ
bil-muʿ'tadīnaof the transgressors
١١٩
(119)
And why should you not eat of that upon which the name of Allāh has been mentioned while He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, excepting that to which you are compelled. And indeed do many lead [others] astray through their [own] inclinations without knowledge. Indeed, your Lord - He is most knowing of the transgressors.

وَذَرُوا۟
wadharūForsake
ظَـٰهِرَ
ẓāhiraopen
ٱلْإِثْمِ
l-ith'mi[the] sins
وَبَاطِنَهُۥٓ ۚ
wabāṭinahuand the secret
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
يَكْسِبُونَ
yaksibūnaearn
ٱلْإِثْمَ
l-ith'ma[the] sin
سَيُجْزَوْنَ
sayuj'zawnathey will be recompensed
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَقْتَرِفُونَ
yaqtarifūnacommit
١٢٠
(120)
And leave [i.e., desist from] what is apparent of sin and what is concealed thereof. Indeed, those who earn [blame for] sin will be recompensed for that which they used to commit.

وَلَا
walāAnd (do) not
تَأْكُلُوا۟

ٱسْمُ
us'mu(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhion it
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahuand indeed, it (is)
لَفِسْقٌۭ ۗ
lafis'qungrave disobedience
وَإِنَّ
wa-innaAnd indeed
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ
l-shayāṭīnathe devils
لَيُوحُونَ
layūḥūnainspire
إِلَىٰٓ
ilāto
أَوْلِيَآئِهِمْ
awliyāihimtheir friends
لِيُجَـٰدِلُوكُمْ ۖ
liyujādilūkumso that they dispute with you
وَإِنْ
wa-inand if
أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ
aṭaʿtumūhumyou obey them
إِنَّكُمْ
innakumindeed, you
لَمُشْرِكُونَ
lamush'rikūna(would) be the polytheists
١٢١
(121)
And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allāh has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience. And indeed do the devils inspire their allies [among men] to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you would be associators [of others with Him].

أَوَمَن
awamanIs (one) who
كَانَ
kānawas
مَيْتًۭا
maytandead
فَأَحْيَيْنَـٰهُ
fa-aḥyaynāhuand We gave him life
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnāand We made
لَهُۥ
lahufor him
نُورًۭا
nūranlight
يَمْشِى
yamshīhe walks
بِهِۦ
bihiwhereby
فِى
among
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsithe people
كَمَن
kamanlike (one) who
مَّثَلُهُۥ
mathaluhu[similar to him]
فِى
(is) in
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ
l-ẓulumātithe darknesses
لَيْسَ
laysanot
بِخَارِجٍۢ
bikhārijinhe comes out
مِّنْهَا ۚ
min'hāof it
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālikaThus
زُيِّنَ
zuyyinais made fair-seeming
لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
lil'kāfirīnato the disbelievers
مَا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey were
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnadoing
١٢٢
(122)
And is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him light by which to walk among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom? Thus it has been made pleasing to the disbelievers that which they were doing.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnāWe placed
فِى
in
كُلِّ
kullievery
قَرْيَةٍ
qaryatincity
أَكَـٰبِرَ
akābiragreatest
مُجْرِمِيهَا
muj'rimīhā(of) its criminals
لِيَمْكُرُوا۟
liyamkurūso that they plot
فِيهَا ۖ
fīhātherein
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
يَمْكُرُونَ
yamkurūnathey plot
إِلَّا
illāexcept
بِأَنفُسِهِمْ
bi-anfusihimagainst themselves
وَمَا
wamāand not
يَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūnathey perceive
١٢٣
(123)
And thus We have placed within every city the greatest of its criminals to conspire therein. But they conspire not except against themselves, and they perceive [it] not.

وَإِذَا
wa-idhāAnd when
جَآءَتْهُمْ
jāathumcomes to them
ءَايَةٌۭ
āyatuna Sign
قَالُوا۟
qālūthey say
لَن
lanNever
نُّؤْمِنَ
nu'minawe will believe
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattāuntil
نُؤْتَىٰ
nu'tāwe are given
مِثْلَ
mith'lalike
مَآ
what
أُوتِىَ
ūtiyawas given
رُسُلُ
rusulu(to the) Messengers
ٱللَّهِ ۘ
l-lahi(of) Allah
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamuknows best
حَيْثُ
ḥaythuwhere
يَجْعَلُ
yajʿaluHe places
رِسَالَتَهُۥ ۗ
risālatahuHis Message
سَيُصِيبُ
sayuṣībuWill afflict
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
أَجْرَمُوا۟
ajramūcommitted crimes
صَغَارٌ
ṣaghāruna humiliation
عِندَ
ʿindafrom
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
وَعَذَابٌۭ
waʿadhābunand a punishment
شَدِيدٌۢ
shadīdunsevere
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَمْكُرُونَ
yamkurūnaplot
١٢٤
(124)
And when a sign comes to them, they say, "Never will we believe until we are given like that which was given to the messengers of Allāh." Allāh is most knowing of where [i.e., with whom] He places His message. There will afflict those who committed crimes debasement before Allāh and severe punishment for what they used to conspire.

yuridiwants
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
أَن

يَهْدِيَهُۥ
yahdiyahuHe guides him
يَشْرَحْ
yashraḥHe expands
صَدْرَهُۥ
ṣadrahuhis breast
لِلْإِسْلَـٰمِ ۖ
lil'is'lāmito Islam
وَمَن
wamanand whoever
يُرِدْ
yuridHe wants
أَن
anthat
يُضِلَّهُۥ
yuḍillahuHe lets him go astray
يَجْعَلْ
yajʿalHe makes
صَدْرَهُۥ
ṣadrahuhis breast
ضَيِّقًا
ḍayyiqantight
حَرَجًۭا
ḥarajanand constricted
كَأَنَّمَا
ka-annamāas though
يَصَّعَّدُ
yaṣṣaʿʿaduhe (were) climbing
فِى
into
ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۚ
l-samāithe sky
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālikaThus
يَجْعَلُ
yajʿaluplaces
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
ٱلرِّجْسَ
l-rij'sathe filth
عَلَى
ʿalāon
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
١٢٥
(125)
So whoever Allāh wants to guide - He expands his breast to [contain] Islām; and whoever He wants to send astray - He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allāh place defilement upon those who do not believe.

وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhāAnd this
صِرَٰطُ
ṣirāṭu(is the) way
رَبِّكَ
rabbika(of) your Lord
مُسْتَقِيمًۭا ۗ
mus'taqīmanstraight
قَدْ
qadCertainly
فَصَّلْنَا
faṣṣalnāWe have detailed
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyātithe Verses
لِقَوْمٍۢ
liqawminfor a people
يَذَّكَّرُونَ
yadhakkarūnawho take heed
١٢٦
(126)
And this is the path of your Lord, [leading] straight. We have detailed the verses for a people who remember.

۞ لَهُمْ
lahumFor them
دَارُ
dāru(will be) home
ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ
l-salāmi(of) [the] peace
عِندَ
ʿindawith
رَبِّهِمْ ۖ
rabbihimtheir Lord
وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
وَلِيُّهُم
waliyyuhum(will be) their protecting friend
بِمَا
bimābecause
كَانُوا۟
kānū(of what) they used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnado
١٢٧
(127)
For them will be the Home of Peace [i.e., Paradise] with their Lord. And He will be their protecting friend because of what they used to do.

وَيَوْمَ
wayawmaAnd (the) Day
يَحْشُرُهُمْ
yaḥshuruhumHe will gather them
جَمِيعًۭا
jamīʿanall
يَـٰمَعْشَرَ
yāmaʿshara(and will say), "O assembly
ٱلْجِنِّ
l-jini(of) [the] jinn
قَدِ
qadiCertainly
ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم
is'takthartumyou have (misled) many
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلْإِنسِ ۖ
l-insithe mankind
وَقَالَ
waqālaAnd will say
أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم
awliyāuhumtheir friends
مِّنَ
minaamong
ٱلْإِنسِ
l-insithe men
رَبَّنَا
rabbanāOur Lord
ٱسْتَمْتَعَ
is'tamtaʿaprofited
بَعْضُنَا
baʿḍunāsome of us
بِبَعْضٍۢ
bibaʿḍinby others
وَبَلَغْنَآ
wabalaghnāand we have reached
أَجَلَنَا
ajalanāour term
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhīwhich
أَجَّلْتَ
ajjaltaYou appointed
لَنَا ۚ
lanāfor us
قَالَ
qālaHe will say
ٱلنَّارُ
l-nāruThe Fire
مَثْوَىٰكُمْ
mathwākum(is) your abode
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīnawill abide forever
فِيهَآ
fīhāin it
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مَا
(for) what
شَآءَ
shāawills
ٱللَّهُ ۗ
l-lahuAllah
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbakayour Lord
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun(is) All-Wise
عَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunAll-Knowing
١٢٨
(128)
And [mention, O Muḥammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term which You appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allāh wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd thus
نُوَلِّى
nuwallīWe make friends
بَعْضَ
baʿḍasome (of)
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
بَعْضًۢا
baʿḍan(to) others
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَكْسِبُونَ
yaksibūnaearn
١٢٩
(129)
And thus will We make some of the wrongdoers allies of others for what they used to earn.

يَـٰمَعْشَرَ
yāmaʿsharaO assembly
ٱلْجِنِّ
l-jini(of) [the] jinn
وَٱلْإِنسِ
wal-insiand [the] men
أَلَمْ
alamDid (there) not
يَأْتِكُمْ
yatikumcome to you
رُسُلٌۭ
rusulunMessengers
مِّنكُمْ
minkumfrom (among) you
يَقُصُّونَ
yaquṣṣūnarelating
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykumto you
ءَايَـٰتِى
āyātīMy Verses
وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ
wayundhirūnakumand warning you
لِقَآءَ
liqāa(of the) meeting
يَوْمِكُمْ
yawmikum(of) your day
هَـٰذَا ۚ
hādhāthis
قَالُوا۟
qālūThey will say
شَهِدْنَا
shahid'nāWe bear witness
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāagainst
أَنفُسِنَا ۖ
anfusināourselves
وَغَرَّتْهُمُ
wagharrathumuAnd deluded them
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ
l-ḥayatuthe life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā(of) the world
وَشَهِدُوا۟
washahidūand they will bear witness
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāagainst
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihimthemselves
أَنَّهُمْ
annahumthat they
كَانُوا۟
kānūwere
كَـٰفِرِينَ
kāfirīnadisbelievers
١٣٠
(130)
"O company of jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "We bear witness against ourselves"; and the worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikaThat (is because)
أَن
an[that]
لَّمْ
lamnot
يَكُن
yakunis
رَّبُّكَ
rabbukayour Lord
مُهْلِكَ
muh'likaone who destroys
ٱلْقُرَىٰ
l-qurāthe cities
بِظُلْمٍۢ
biẓul'minfor (their) wrongdoing
وَأَهْلُهَا
wa-ahluhāwhile their people
غَـٰفِلُونَ
ghāfilūna(are) unaware
١٣١
(131)
That is because your Lord would not destroy the cities for wrongdoing while their people were unaware.

وَلِكُلٍّۢ
walikullinAnd for all
دَرَجَـٰتٌۭ
darajātun(will be) degrees
مِّمَّا
mimmāfor what
عَمِلُوا۟ ۚ
ʿamilūthey did
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka(is) your Lord
بِغَـٰفِلٍ
bighāfilinunaware
عَمَّا
ʿammāabout what
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnathey do
١٣٢
(132)
And for all are degrees [i.e., positions resulting] from what they have done. And your Lord is not unaware of what they do.

وَرَبُّكَ
warabbukaAnd your Lord
ٱلْغَنِىُّ
l-ghaniyu(is) the Self-Sufficient
ذُو
dhū(the) Possessor
ٱلرَّحْمَةِ ۚ
l-raḥmati(of) mercy
إِن
inIf
يَشَأْ
yashaHe wills
يُذْهِبْكُمْ
yudh'hib'kumHe can take you away
وَيَسْتَخْلِفْ
wayastakhlifand grant succession
مِنۢ
minfrom
بَعْدِكُم
baʿdikumafter you
مَّا
(to) whom
يَشَآءُ
yashāuHe wills
كَمَآ
kamāas
أَنشَأَكُم
ansha-akumHe raised you
مِّن
minfrom
ذُرِّيَّةِ
dhurriyyatithe descendants
قَوْمٍ
qawmin(of) people
ءَاخَرِينَ
ākharīnaother
١٣٣
(133)
And your Lord is the Free of need, the possessor of mercy. If He wills, He can do away with you and give succession after you to whomever He wills, just as He produced you from the descendants of another people.

إِنَّ
innaIndeed
مَا
what
تُوعَدُونَ
tūʿadūnayou are promised
لَـَٔاتٍۢ ۖ
laātin(is) sure to come
وَمَآ
wamāAnd not
أَنتُم
antum(can) you
بِمُعْجِزِينَ
bimuʿ'jizīnaescape (it)
١٣٤
(134)
Indeed, what you are promised is coming, and you will not cause failure [to Allāh].

قُلْ
qulSay
يَـٰقَوْمِ
yāqawmiO my people
ٱعْمَلُوا۟
iʿ'malūWork
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
مَكَانَتِكُمْ
makānatikumyour position
إِنِّى
innīIndeed, I am
عَامِلٌۭ ۖ
ʿāmiluna worker
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfaAnd soon
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnayou will know
مَن
manwho
تَكُونُ
takūnuwill have
لَهُۥ
lahufor himself
عَـٰقِبَةُ
ʿāqibatu(in) the end
ٱلدَّارِ ۗ
l-dāri(a good) home
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed [he]
لَا
(will) not
يُفْلِحُ
yuf'liḥusucceed
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
١٣٥
(135)
Say, "O my people, work according to your position; [for] indeed, I am working. And you are going to know who will have succession in the home. Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed."

وَجَعَلُوا۟
wajaʿalūAnd they assign
لِلَّهِ
lillahito Allah
مِمَّا
mimmāout of what
ذَرَأَ
dhara-aHe produced
مِنَ
minaof
ٱلْحَرْثِ
l-ḥarthithe crops
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ
wal-anʿāmiand the cattle
نَصِيبًۭا
naṣībana share
فَقَالُوا۟
faqālūand they say
هَـٰذَا
hādhāThis
لِلَّهِ
lillahi(is) for Allah
بِزَعْمِهِمْ
bizaʿmihimby their claim
وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhāAnd this
لِشُرَكَآئِنَا ۖ
lishurakāinā(is) for our partners
فَمَا
famāBut what
كَانَ
kānais
لِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ
lishurakāihimfor their partners
فَلَا
falā(does) not
يَصِلُ
yaṣilureach
إِلَى
ilā[to]
ٱللَّهِ ۖ
l-lahiAllah
وَمَا
wamāwhile what
كَانَ
kānais
لِلَّهِ
lillahifor Allah
فَهُوَ
fahuwathen it
يَصِلُ
yaṣilureaches
إِلَىٰ
ilā[to]
شُرَكَآئِهِمْ ۗ
shurakāihimtheir partners
سَآءَ
sāaEvil
مَا
(is) what
يَحْكُمُونَ
yaḥkumūnathey judge
١٣٦
(136)
And they [i.e., the polytheists] assign to Allāh from that which He created of crops and livestock a share and say, "This is for Allāh," by their claim, "and this is for our 'partners' [associated with Him]." But what is for their "partners" does not reach Allāh, while what is for Allāh - this reaches their "partners." Evil is that which they rule.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālikaAnd likewise
زَيَّنَ
zayyanamade pleasing
لِكَثِيرٍۢ
likathīrinto many
مِّنَ
minaof
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
قَتْلَ
qatla(the) killing
أَوْلَـٰدِهِمْ
awlādihim(of) their children
شُرَكَآؤُهُمْ
shurakāuhumtheir partners
لِيُرْدُوهُمْ
liyur'dūhumso that they may ruin them
وَلِيَلْبِسُوا۟
waliyalbisūand that they make confusing
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimto them
دِينَهُمْ ۖ
dīnahumtheir religion
وَلَوْ
walawAnd if
شَآءَ
shāa(had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahuAllah
مَا
not
فَعَلُوهُ ۖ
faʿalūhu(would) they have done so
فَذَرْهُمْ
fadharhumSo leave them
وَمَا
wamāand what
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūnathey invent
١٣٧
(137)
And likewise, to many of the polytheists their partners have made [to seem] pleasing the killing of their children in order to bring about their destruction and to cover them with confusion in their religion. And if Allāh had willed, they would not have done so. So leave them and that which they invent.

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they say
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ
hādhihiThese
أَنْعَـٰمٌۭ
anʿāmun(are) cattle
وَحَرْثٌ
waḥarthunand crops
حِجْرٌۭ
ḥij'runforbidden
لَّا
no (one)
يَطْعَمُهَآ
yaṭʿamuhācan eat them
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مَن
manwhom
نَّشَآءُ
nashāuwe will
بِزَعْمِهِمْ
bizaʿmihimby their claim
وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ
wa-anʿāmunAnd cattle
حُرِّمَتْ
ḥurrimatforbidden
ظُهُورُهَا
ẓuhūruhā(are) their backs
وَأَنْعَـٰمٌۭ
wa-anʿāmunand cattle
لَّا
not
يَذْكُرُونَ
yadhkurūnathey mention
ٱسْمَ
is'ma(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
عَلَيْهَا
ʿalayhāon it
ٱفْتِرَآءً
if'tirāan(as) an invention
عَلَيْهِ ۚ
ʿalayhiagainst Him
سَيَجْزِيهِم
sayajzīhimHe will recompense them
بِمَا
bimāfor what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūnainvent
١٣٨
(138)
And they say, "These animals and crops are forbidden; no one may eat from them except whom we will," by their claim. And there are those [camels] whose backs are forbidden [by them] and those upon which the name of Allāh is not mentioned - [all of this] an invention of untruth about Him. He will punish them for what they were inventing.

وَقَالُوا۟
waqālūAnd they say
مَا
What
فِى
(is) in
بُطُونِ
buṭūni(the) wombs
هَـٰذِهِ
hādhihi(of) these
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ
l-anʿāmicattle
خَالِصَةٌۭ
khāliṣatun(is) exclusively
لِّذُكُورِنَا
lidhukūrināfor our males
وَمُحَرَّمٌ
wamuḥarramunand forbidden
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalāon
أَزْوَٰجِنَا ۖ

وَإِن
wa-inBut if
يَكُن
yakunis
مَّيْتَةًۭ
maytatan(born) dead
فَهُمْ
fahumthen they (all)
فِيهِ
fīhiin it
شُرَكَآءُ ۚ
shurakāu(are) partners
سَيَجْزِيهِمْ
sayajzīhimHe will recompense them
وَصْفَهُمْ ۚ
waṣfahum(for) their attribution
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, He
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun(is) All-Wise
عَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunAll-Knowing
١٣٩
(139)
And they say, "What is in the bellies of these animals is exclusively for our males and forbidden to our females. But if it is [born] dead, then all of them have shares therein." He will punish them for their description. Indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.

خَسِرَ
khasira(are) lost
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
قَتَلُوٓا۟
qatalūkilled
أَوْلَـٰدَهُمْ
awlādahumtheir children
سَفَهًۢا
safahan(in) foolishness
بِغَيْرِ
bighayriwithout
عِلْمٍۢ
ʿil'minknowledge
وَحَرَّمُوا۟
waḥarramūand forbid
مَا
what
رَزَقَهُمُ
razaqahumu(bas been) provided (to) them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu(by) Allah
ٱفْتِرَآءً
if'tirāaninventing (lies)
عَلَى
ʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِ ۚ
l-lahiAllah
قَدْ
qadCertainly
ضَلُّوا۟
ḍallūthey have gone astray
وَمَا
wamāand not
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey are
مُهْتَدِينَ
muh'tadīnaguided-ones
١٤٠
(140)
They will have lost who killed their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited what Allāh had provided for them, inventing untruth about Allāh. They have gone astray and were not [rightly] guided.

wahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī(is) the One Who
أَنشَأَ
ansha-aproduced
جَنَّـٰتٍۢ
jannātingardens
مَّعْرُوشَـٰتٍۢ
maʿrūshātintrellised
وَغَيْرَ
waghayraand other than
مَعْرُوشَـٰتٍۢ
maʿrūshātintrellised
وَٱلنَّخْلَ
wal-nakhlaand the date-palm
وَٱلزَّرْعَ
wal-zarʿaand the crops
مُخْتَلِفًا
mukh'talifandiverse
أُكُلُهُۥ
ukuluhu(are) its taste
وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ
wal-zaytūnaand the olives
وَٱلرُّمَّانَ
wal-rumānaand the pomegranates
مُتَشَـٰبِهًۭا
mutashābihansimilar
وَغَيْرَ
waghayraand other than
مُتَشَـٰبِهٍۢ ۚ
mutashābihinsimilar
كُلُوا۟
kulūEat
مِن
minof
ثَمَرِهِۦٓ
thamarihiits fruit
إِذَآ
idhāwhen
أَثْمَرَ
athmarait bears fruit
وَءَاتُوا۟
waātūand give
حَقَّهُۥ
ḥaqqahuits due
يَوْمَ
yawma(on the) day
حَصَادِهِۦ ۖ
ḥaṣādihi(of) its harvest
وَلَا
walāAnd (do) not
تُسْرِفُوٓا۟ ۚ
tus'rifū(be) extravagant
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, He
لَا
(does) not
يُحِبُّ
yuḥibbulove
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
l-mus'rifīnathe ones who are extravagant
١٤١
(141)
And He it is who causes gardens to grow, [both] trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and crops of different [kinds of] food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of [each of] its fruit when it yields and give its due [zakāh] on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess.

حَمُولَةًۭ
ḥamūlatan(are some for) burden
وَفَرْشًۭا ۚ
wafarshanand (some for) meat
كُلُوا۟
kulūEat
مِمَّا
mimmāof what
رَزَقَكُمُ
razaqakumu(has been) provided (to) you
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu(by) Allah
وَلَا
walāand (do) not
تَتَّبِعُوا۟
tattabiʿūfollow
خُطُوَٰتِ
khuṭuwāti(the) footsteps
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚ
l-shayṭāni(of) Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥ
innahuIndeed, he
لَكُمْ
lakum(is) to you
عَدُوٌّۭ
ʿaduwwunan enemy
مُّبِينٌۭ
mubīnunopen
١٤٢
(142)
And of the grazing livestock are carriers [of burdens] and those [too] small. Eat of what Allāh has provided for you and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.

ٱشْتَمَلَتْ

عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi[in it]
أَرْحَامُ
arḥāmu(the) wombs
ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ
l-unthayayni(of) the two females
نَبِّـُٔونِى
nabbiūnīInform me
بِعِلْمٍ
biʿil'minwith knowledge
إِن
inif
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīnatruthful
١٤٣
(143)
[They are] eight mates - of the sheep, two and of the goats, two. Say, "Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you should be truthful."

أَظْلَمُ
aẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّنِ
mimmanithan (one) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰ
if'tarāinvents
عَلَى
ʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
كَذِبًۭا
kadhibana lie
لِّيُضِلَّ
liyuḍillato mislead
ٱلنَّاسَ
l-nāsathe people
بِغَيْرِ
bighayriwithout
عِلْمٍ ۗ
ʿil'minknowledge
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-lahaAllah
لَا
(does) not
يَهْدِى
yahdīguide
ٱلْقَوْمَ
l-qawmathe people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoing
١٤٤
(144)
And of the camels, two and of the cattle, two. Say, "Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when Allāh charged you with this? Then who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allāh to mislead the people by [something] other than knowledge? Indeed, Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people."

يَكُونَ

مَيْتَةً

أَوْ
awor
دَمًۭا
damanblood
مَّسْفُوحًا
masfūḥanpoured forth
أَوْ
awor
لَحْمَ
laḥma(the) flesh
خِنزِيرٍۢ
khinzīrin(of) swine
فَإِنَّهُۥ
fa-innahufor indeed, it
رِجْسٌ
rij'sun(is) filth
أَوْ
awor
فِسْقًا
fis'qan(it be) disobedience
أُهِلَّ
uhilla[is] dedicated
لِغَيْرِ
lighayrito other than
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
بِهِۦ ۚ
bihi[on it]
فَمَنِ
famaniBut whoever
ٱضْطُرَّ
uḍ'ṭurra(is) compelled
غَيْرَ
ghayranot
بَاغٍۢ
bāghindesiring
وَلَا
walāand not
عَادٍۢ
ʿādintransgressing
فَإِنَّ
fa-innathen indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbakayour Lord
غَفُورٌۭ
ghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunMost Merciful
١٤٥
(145)
Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine - for indeed, it is impure - or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allāh. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."

ظُفُرٍۢ ۖ
ẓufurinclaws
وَمِنَ

ٱلْبَقَرِ
l-baqarithe cows
وَٱلْغَنَمِ
wal-ghanamiand the sheep
حَرَّمْنَا
ḥarramnāWe forbade
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhimto them
شُحُومَهُمَآ
shuḥūmahumātheir fat
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مَا
what
حَمَلَتْ
ḥamalatcarried
ظُهُورُهُمَآ
ẓuhūruhumātheir backs
أَوِ
awior
ٱلْحَوَايَآ
l-ḥawāyāthe entrails
أَوْ
awor
مَا
what
ٱخْتَلَطَ
ikh'talaṭa(is) joined
بِعَظْمٍۢ ۚ
biʿaẓminwith the bone
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālikaThat
جَزَيْنَـٰهُم
jazaynāhum(is) their recompense
بِبَغْيِهِمْ ۖ
bibaghyihimfor their rebellion
وَإِنَّا
wa-innāAnd indeed, We
لَصَـٰدِقُونَ
laṣādiqūna[surely] are truthful
١٤٦
(146)
And to those who are Jews We prohibited every animal of uncloven hoof; and of the cattle and the sheep We prohibited to them their fat, except what adheres to their backs or the entrails or what is joined with bone. [By] that We repaid them for their transgression. And indeed, We are truthful.

فَقُل
faqulthen say
رَّبُّكُمْ
rabbukumYour Lord
ذُو
dhū(is the) Possessor
رَحْمَةٍۢ
raḥmatin(of) Mercy
وَٰسِعَةٍۢ
wāsiʿatinVast
وَلَا
walābut not
يُرَدُّ
yuradduwill be turned back
بَأْسُهُۥ
basuhuHis wrath
عَنِ
ʿanifrom
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmithe people
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīna(who are) criminals
١٤٧
(147)
So if they deny you, [O Muḥammad], say, "Your Lord is the possessor of vast mercy; but His punishment cannot be repelled from the people who are criminals."

ءَابَآؤُنَا
ābāunāour forefathers
وَلَا
walāand not
حَرَّمْنَا
ḥarramnāwe (would) have forbidden
مِن
min[of]
شَىْءٍۢ ۚ
shayinanything
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālikaLikewise
كَذَّبَ
kadhabadenied
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
مِن
min(were from)
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihimbefore them
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattāuntil
ذَاقُوا۟
dhāqūthey tasted
بَأْسَنَا ۗ
basanāOur wrath
قُلْ
qulSay
هَلْ
halIs
عِندَكُم
ʿindakumwith you
مِّنْ
min[of]
عِلْمٍۢ
ʿil'minany knowledge
فَتُخْرِجُوهُ
fatukh'rijūhuthen produce it
لَنَآ ۖ
lanāfor us
إِن
inNot
تَتَّبِعُونَ
tattabiʿūnayou follow
إِلَّا
illāexcept
ٱلظَّنَّ
l-ẓanathe assumption
وَإِنْ
wa-inand not
أَنتُمْ
antumyou (do)
إِلَّا
illābut
تَخْرُصُونَ
takhruṣūnaguess
١٤٨
(148)
Those who associated [others] with Allāh will say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have associated [anything] and neither would our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything." Likewise did those before deny until they tasted Our punishment. Say, "Do you have any knowledge that you can produce for us? You follow not except assumption, and you are not but misjudging."

l-ḥujatu(is) the argument
ٱلْبَـٰلِغَةُ ۖ
l-bālighatuthe conclusive
فَلَوْ
falawAnd if
شَآءَ
shāaHe (had) willed
لَهَدَىٰكُمْ
lahadākumsurely He (would) have guided you
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīnaall
١٤٩
(149)
Say, "With Allāh is the far-reaching [i.e., conclusive] argument. If He had willed, He would have guided you all."

شَهِدُوا۟
shahidūthey testify
فَلَا
falāthen (do) not
تَشْهَدْ
tashhadtestify
مَعَهُمْ ۚ
maʿahumwith them
وَلَا
walāAnd (do) not
تَتَّبِعْ
tattabiʿfollow
أَهْوَآءَ
ahwāa(the) desires
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna(of) those who
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabūdenied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātināOur Signs
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīnaand those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
bil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
وَهُم
wahumwhile they
بِرَبِّهِمْ
birabbihimwith their Lord
يَعْدِلُونَ
yaʿdilūnaset up equals
١٥٠
(150)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Bring forward your witnesses who will testify that Allāh has prohibited this." And if they testify, do not testify with them. And do not follow the desires of those who deny Our verses and those who do not believe in the Hereafter, while they equate [others] with their Lord.

وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ
wabil-wālidayniand with the parents
إِحْسَـٰنًۭا ۖ
iḥ'sānan(be) good
وَلَا
walāand (do) not
تَقْتُلُوٓا۟
taqtulūkill
أَوْلَـٰدَكُم
awlādakumyour children
مِّنْ
min(out) of
إِمْلَـٰقٍۢ ۖ
im'lāqinpoverty
نَّحْنُ
naḥnuWe
نَرْزُقُكُمْ
narzuqukumprovide for you
وَإِيَّاهُمْ ۖ
wa-iyyāhumand for them
وَلَا
walāAnd (do) not
تَقْرَبُوا۟
taqrabūgo near
ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ
l-fawāḥisha[the] immoralities
مَا
what
ظَهَرَ
ẓahara(is) apparent
مِنْهَا
min'hāof them
وَمَا
wamāand what
بَطَنَ ۖ
baṭana(is) concealed
وَلَا
walāAnd (do) not
تَقْتُلُوا۟
taqtulūkill
ٱلنَّفْسَ
l-nafsathe soul
ٱلَّتِى
allatīwhich
حَرَّمَ
ḥarramahas (been) forbidden
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu(by) Allah
إِلَّا
illāexcept
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ
bil-ḥaqiby (legal) right
ذَٰلِكُمْ
dhālikumThat
وَصَّىٰكُم
waṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on you
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakumso that you may
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūnause reason
١٥١
(151)
Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allāh has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."

إِلَّا

بِٱلَّتِى

hiyawhich
أَحْسَنُ
aḥsanu(is) best
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattāuntil
يَبْلُغَ
yablughahe reaches
أَشُدَّهُۥ ۖ
ashuddahuhis maturity
وَأَوْفُوا۟
wa-awfūAnd give full
ٱلْكَيْلَ
l-kayla[the] measure
وَٱلْمِيزَانَ
wal-mīzānaand the weight
بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۖ
bil-qis'ṭiwith justice
لَا
Not
نُكَلِّفُ
nukallifuWe burden
نَفْسًا
nafsanany soul
إِلَّا
illāexcept
وُسْعَهَا ۖ
wus'ʿahā(to) its capacity
وَإِذَا
wa-idhāAnd when
قُلْتُمْ
qul'tumyou speak
فَٱعْدِلُوا۟
fa-iʿ'dilūthen be just
وَلَوْ
walaweven if
كَانَ
kānahe is
ذَا
dhā(one of)
قُرْبَىٰ ۖ
qur'bāa near relative
وَبِعَهْدِ
wabiʿahdiAnd (the) Covenant
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
أَوْفُوا۟ ۚ
awfūfulfil
ذَٰلِكُمْ
dhālikumThat
وَصَّىٰكُم
waṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on you
بِهِۦ
bihiwith it
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakumso that you may
تَذَكَّرُونَ
tadhakkarūnaremember
١٥٢
(152)
And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best [i.e., intending improvement] until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you speak [i.e., testify], be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allāh fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.

ṣirāṭī(is) My path
مُسْتَقِيمًۭا
mus'taqīmanstraight
فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ ۖ
fa-ittabiʿūhuso follow it
وَلَا
walāAnd (do) not
تَتَّبِعُوا۟
tattabiʿūfollow
ٱلسُّبُلَ
l-subulathe (other) paths
فَتَفَرَّقَ
fatafarraqathen they will separate
بِكُمْ
bikumyou
عَن
ʿanfrom
سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚ
sabīlihiHis path
ذَٰلِكُمْ
dhālikumThat
وَصَّىٰكُم
waṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on you
بِهِۦ
bihi[with it]
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakumso that you may
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūnabecome righteous
١٥٣
(153)
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.

تَمَامًا
tamāmancompleting (Our Favor)
عَلَى
ʿalāon
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhīthe one who
أَحْسَنَ
aḥsanadid good
وَتَفْصِيلًۭا
watafṣīlanand an explanation
لِّكُلِّ
likulliof every
شَىْءٍۢ
shayinthing
وَهُدًۭى
wahudanand a guidance
وَرَحْمَةًۭ
waraḥmatanand mercy
لَّعَلَّهُم
laʿallahumso that they may
بِلِقَآءِ
biliqāiin (the) meeting
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim(with) their Lord
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnabelieve
١٥٤
(154)
Then We gave Moses the Scripture, making complete [Our favor] upon the one who did good [i.e., Moses] and as a detailed explanation of all things and as guidance and mercy that perhaps in the meeting with their Lord they would believe.

وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhāAnd this
كِتَـٰبٌ
kitābun(is) a Book
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ
anzalnāhuWe have revealed it
مُبَارَكٌۭ
mubārakunblessed
فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ
fa-ittabiʿūhuso follow it
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
wa-ittaqūand fear (Allah)
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakumso that you may
تُرْحَمُونَ
tur'ḥamūnareceive mercy
١٥٥
(155)
And this [Qur’ān] is a Book We have revealed [which is] blessed, so follow it and fear Allāh that you may receive mercy.

إِنَّمَآ
innamāOnly
أُنزِلَ
unzilawas revealed
ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ
l-kitābuthe Book
عَلَىٰ
ʿalāon
طَآئِفَتَيْنِ
ṭāifataynithe two groups
مِن
minfrom
قَبْلِنَا
qablinābefore us
وَإِن
wa-inand indeed
كُنَّا
kunnāwe were
عَن
ʿanabout
دِرَاسَتِهِمْ
dirāsatihimtheir study
لَغَـٰفِلِينَ
laghāfilīnacertainly unaware
١٥٦
(156)
[We revealed it] lest you say, "The Scripture was only sent down to two groups before us, but we were of their study unaware,"

تَقُولُوا۟
taqūlūyou say
لَوْ
lawIf
أَنَّآ
annā[that]
أُنزِلَ
unzilawas revealed
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynāto us
ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ
l-kitābuthe Book
لَكُنَّآ
lakunnāsurely we (would) have been
أَهْدَىٰ
ahdābetter guided
مِنْهُمْ ۚ
min'humthan them
فَقَدْ
faqadSo verily
جَآءَكُم
jāakumhas come to you
بَيِّنَةٌۭ
bayyinatunclear proofs
مِّن
minfrom
رَّبِّكُمْ
rabbikumyour Lord
وَهُدًۭى
wahudanand a Guidance
وَرَحْمَةٌۭ ۚ
waraḥmatunand a Mercy
فَمَنْ
famanThen who
أَظْلَمُ
aẓlamu(is) more unjust
مِمَّن
mimmanthan (he) who
كَذَّبَ
kadhabadenies
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti[with] (the) Verses
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi(of) Allah
وَصَدَفَ
waṣadafaand turns away
عَنْهَا ۗ
ʿanhāfrom them
سَنَجْزِى
sanajzīWe will recompense
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
يَصْدِفُونَ
yaṣdifūnaturn away
عَنْ
ʿanfrom
ءَايَـٰتِنَا
āyātināOur Signs
سُوٓءَ
sūa(with) an evil
ٱلْعَذَابِ
l-ʿadhābipunishment
بِمَا
bimābecause
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَصْدِفُونَ
yaṣdifūnaturn away
١٥٧
(157)
Or lest you say, "If only the Scripture had been revealed to us, we would have been better guided than they." So there has [now] come to you a clear evidence from your Lord and a guidance and mercy. Then who is more unjust than one who denies the verses of Allāh and turns away from them? We will recompense those who turn away from Our verses with the worst of punishment for their having turned away.

yanẓurūnathey waiting
إِلَّآ
illāexcept
أَن

تَأْتِيَهُمُ
tatiyahumucomes to them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatuthe Angels
أَوْ
awor
يَأْتِىَ
yatiyacomes
رَبُّكَ
rabbukayour Lord
أَوْ
awor
يَأْتِىَ
yatiyacomes
بَعْضُ
baʿḍusome (of)
ءَايَـٰتِ
āyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّكَ ۗ
rabbika(of) your Lord
يَوْمَ
yawma(The) Day
يَأْتِى
yatī(when) comes
بَعْضُ
baʿḍusome (of)
ءَايَـٰتِ
āyāti(the) Signs
رَبِّكَ
rabbika(of) your Lord
لَا
not
يَنفَعُ
yanfaʿuwill benefit
نَفْسًا
nafsana soul
إِيمَـٰنُهَا
īmānuhāits faith
لَمْ
lamnot
تَكُنْ
takun(if) it had
ءَامَنَتْ
āmanatbelieved
مِن
minfrom
قَبْلُ
qablubefore
أَوْ
awor
كَسَبَتْ
kasabatearned
فِىٓ
through
إِيمَـٰنِهَا
īmānihāits faith
خَيْرًۭا ۗ
khayranany good
قُلِ
quliSay
ٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟
intaẓirūWait
إِنَّا
innāIndeed, we
مُنتَظِرُونَ
muntaẓirūna(are) those who wait
١٥٨
(158)
Do they [then] wait for anything except that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come or that there come some of the signs of your Lord? The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned through its faith some good. Say, "Wait. Indeed, we [also] are waiting."

إِنَّ
innaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīnathose who
فَرَّقُوا۟
farraqūdivide
دِينَهُمْ
dīnahumtheir religion
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānūand become
شِيَعًۭا
shiyaʿansects
لَّسْتَ
lastayou are not
مِنْهُمْ
min'humwith them
فِى
in
شَىْءٍ ۚ
shayinanything
إِنَّمَآ
innamāOnly
أَمْرُهُمْ
amruhumtheir affair
إِلَى
ilā(is) with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
ثُمَّ
thummathen
يُنَبِّئُهُم
yunabbi-uhumHe will inform them
بِمَا
bimāof what
كَانُوا۟
kānūthey used to
يَفْعَلُونَ
yafʿalūnado
١٥٩
(159)
Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muḥammad], are not [associated] with them in anything. Their affair is only [left] to Allāh; then He will inform them about what they used to do.

جَآءَ

بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ
bil-ḥasanatiwith a good deed
فَلَهُۥ
falahuthen for him
عَشْرُ
ʿashru(is) ten (times)
أَمْثَالِهَا ۖ
amthālihāthe like of it
وَمَن
wamanAnd whoever
جَآءَ
jāacame
بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ
bil-sayi-atiwith an evil deed
فَلَا
falāthen not
يُجْزَىٰٓ
yuj'zāhe will be recompensed
إِلَّا
illāexcept
مِثْلَهَا
mith'lahāthe like of it
وَهُمْ
wahumand they
لَا
will not
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūna(be) wronged
١٦٠
(160)
Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit], and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof; and they will not be wronged.

قُلْ
qulSay
إِنَّنِى
innanīIndeed (as for) me
هَدَىٰنِى
hadānīhas guided me
رَبِّىٓ
rabbīmy Lord
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
صِرَٰطٍۢ
ṣirāṭina path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
mus'taqīminstraight
دِينًۭا
dīnana religion
قِيَمًۭا
qiyamanright
مِّلَّةَ
millatareligion
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahim
حَنِيفًۭا ۚ
ḥanīfana true monotheist
وَمَا
wamāAnd not
كَانَ
kānahe was
مِنَ
minafrom
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
١٦١
(161)
Say, "Indeed, my Lord has guided me to a straight path - a correct religion - the way of Abraham, inclining toward truth. And he was not among those who associated others with Allāh."

قُلْ
qulSay
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
صَلَاتِى
ṣalātīmy prayer
وَنُسُكِى
wanusukīand my rites of sacrifice
وَمَحْيَاىَ
wamaḥyāyaand my living
وَمَمَاتِى
wamamātīand my dying
لِلَّهِ
lillahi(are) for Allah
رَبِّ
rabbiLord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
١٦٢
(162)
Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allāh, Lord of the worlds.

No
شَرِيكَ
sharīkapartners
لَهُۥ ۖ
lahufor Him
وَبِذَٰلِكَ
wabidhālikaand with that
أُمِرْتُ
umir'tuI have been commanded
وَأَنَا۠
wa-anāAnd I am
أَوَّلُ
awwalu(the) first
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
l-mus'limīna(of) the ones who surrender (to Him)
١٦٣
(163)
No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims."

أَغَيْرَ
aghayraIs (it) other than
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahiAllah
أَبْغِى
abghīI (should) seek
رَبًّۭا
rabban(as) a Lord
وَهُوَ
wahuwawhile He
رَبُّ
rabbu(is) the Lord
كُلِّ
kulli(of) every
شَىْءٍۢ ۚ
shayinthing
وَلَا
walāAnd not
تَكْسِبُ
taksibuearns
كُلُّ
kulluevery
نَفْسٍ
nafsinsoul
إِلَّا
illāexcept
عَلَيْهَا ۚ
ʿalayhāagainst itself
وَلَا
walāand not
تَزِرُ
tazirubears
وَازِرَةٌۭ
wāziratunany bearer of burden
وِزْرَ
wiz'raburden
أُخْرَىٰ ۚ
ukh'rā(of) another
ثُمَّ
thummaThen
إِلَىٰ
ilāto
رَبِّكُم
rabbikumyour Lord
مَّرْجِعُكُمْ
marjiʿukum(is) your return
فَيُنَبِّئُكُم
fayunabbi-ukumthen He will inform you
بِمَا
bimāabout what
كُنتُمْ
kuntumyou were
فِيهِ
fīhiconcerning it
تَخْتَلِفُونَ
takhtalifūnadiffering
١٦٤
(164)
Say, "Is it other than Allāh I should desire as a lord while He is the Lord of all things? And every soul earns not [blame] except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."

وَهُوَ
wahuwaAnd He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī(is) the One Who
جَعَلَكُمْ
jaʿalakum(has) made you
خَلَـٰٓئِفَ
khalāifasuccessors
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi(of) the earth
وَرَفَعَ
warafaʿaand raised
بَعْضَكُمْ
baʿḍakumsome of you
فَوْقَ
fawqaabove
بَعْضٍۢ
baʿḍinothers
دَرَجَـٰتٍۢ
darajātin(in) ranks
لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ
liyabluwakumso that He may test you
فِى
in
مَآ
what
ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۗ
ātākumHe has given you
إِنَّ
innaIndeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbakayour Lord
سَرِيعُ
sarīʿu(is) swift
ٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābi(in) the punishment
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahuand indeed, He (is)
لَغَفُورٌۭ
laghafūrun[certainly], Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۢ
raḥīmunMost Merciful
١٦٥
(165)
And it is He who has made you successors upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees [of rank] that He may try you through what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.
