وَيْلٌۭwaylunWoe
لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَlil'muṭaffifīnato those who give less
١(1)
Woe to those who give less [than due],
Juz 30Page 587
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
إِذَاidhāwhen
ٱكْتَالُوا۟ik'tālūthey take a measure
عَلَىʿalāfrom
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe people
يَسْتَوْفُونَyastawfūnathey take in full
٢(2)
Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

وَإِذَاwa-idhāBut when
كَالُوهُمْkālūhumthey give by measure (to) them
أَوawor
وَّزَنُوهُمْwazanūhumthey weigh (for) them
يُخْسِرُونَyukh'sirūnathey give less
٣(3)
But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

أَلَاalāDo not
يَظُنُّyaẓunnuthink
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
أَنَّهُمannahumthat they
مَّبْعُوثُونَmabʿūthūna(will be) resurrected
٤(4)
Do they not think that they will be resurrected

لِيَوْمٍliyawminFor a Day
عَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīminGreat
٥(5)
For a tremendous Day -
Juz 30Page 587
يَوْمَyawma(The) Day
يَقُومُyaqūmuwill stand
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsumankind
لِرَبِّlirabbibefore (the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
٦(6)
The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

كَلَّآkallāNay
إِنَّinnaIndeed
كِتَـٰبَkitāba(the) record
ٱلْفُجَّارِl-fujāri(of) the wicked
لَفِىlafī(is) surely in
سِجِّينٍۢsijjīninSijjin
٧(7)
No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

وَمَآwamāAnd what
أَدْرَىٰكَadrākacan make you know
مَاmāwhat
سِجِّينٌۭsijjīnun(is) Sijjin
٨(8)
And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

كِتَـٰبٌۭkitābunA book
مَّرْقُومٌۭmarqūmunwritten
٩(9)
It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed.

وَيْلٌۭwaylunWoe
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Day
لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَlil'mukadhibīnato the deniers
١٠(10)
Woe, that Day, to the deniers,

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
يُكَذِّبُونَyukadhibūnadeny
بِيَوْمِbiyawmi(the) Day
ٱلدِّينِl-dīni(of) the Judgment
١١(11)
Who deny the Day of Recompense.
Juz 30Page 588
وَمَاwamāAnd not
يُكَذِّبُyukadhibucan deny
بِهِۦٓbihi[of] it
إِلَّاillāexcept
كُلُّkulluevery
مُعْتَدٍmuʿ'tadintransgressor
أَثِيمٍathīminsinful
١٢(12)
And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.

إِذَاidhāWhen
تُتْلَىٰtut'lāare recited
عَلَيْهِʿalayhito him
ءَايَـٰتُنَاāyātunāOur Verses
قَالَqālahe says
أَسَـٰطِيرُasāṭīruStories
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)
١٣(13)
When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

كَلَّا ۖkallāNay
بَلْ ۜbalBut
رَانَrāna(the) stain has covered
عَلَىٰʿalā[over]
قُلُوبِهِمqulūbihimtheir hearts
مَّاmā(for) what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
١٤(14)
No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

كَلَّآkallāNay
إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, they
عَنʿanfrom
رَّبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Day
لَّمَحْجُوبُونَlamaḥjūbūnasurely will be partitioned
١٥(15)
No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.

ثُمَّthummaThen
إِنَّهُمْinnahumindeed, they
لَصَالُوا۟laṣālū(surely) will burn
ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(in) the Hellfire
١٦(16)
Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.

ثُمَّthummaThen
يُقَالُyuqāluit will be said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) what
كُنتُمkuntumyou used to
بِهِۦbihi[of it]
تُكَذِّبُونَtukadhibūnadeny
١٧(17)
Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."

كَلَّآkallāNay
إِنَّinnaIndeed
كِتَـٰبَkitāba(the) record
ٱلْأَبْرَارِl-abrāri(of) the righteous
لَفِىlafī(will be) surely in
عِلِّيِّينَʿilliyyīnaIlliyin
١٨(18)
No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in ʿilliyyūn.

وَمَآwamāAnd what
أَدْرَىٰكَadrākacan make you know
مَاmāwhat
عِلِّيُّونَʿilliyyūna(is) Illiyun
١٩(19)
And what can make you know what is ʿilliyyūn?

كِتَـٰبٌۭkitābunA book
مَّرْقُومٌۭmarqūmunwritten
٢٠(20)
It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed

يَشْهَدُهُyashhaduhuWitness it
ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَl-muqarabūnathose brought near
٢١(21)
Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allāh].

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْأَبْرَارَl-abrārathe righteous
لَفِىlafī(will be) surely in
نَعِيمٍnaʿīminbliss
٢٢(22)
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure

عَلَىʿalāOn
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِl-arāikithrones
يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnaobserving
٢٣(23)
On adorned couches, observing.
Juz 30Page 588
تَعْرِفُtaʿrifuYou will recognize
فِىfīin
وُجُوهِهِمْwujūhihimtheir faces
نَضْرَةَnaḍrata(the) radiance
ٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) bliss
٢٤(24)
You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.

يُسْقَوْنَyus'qawnaThey will be given to drink
مِنminof
رَّحِيقٍۢraḥīqina pure wine
مَّخْتُومٍmakhtūminsealed
٢٥(25)
They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed.

خِتَـٰمُهُۥkhitāmuhuIts seal
مِسْكٌۭ ۚmis'kun(will be of) musk
وَفِىwafīAnd for
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
فَلْيَتَنَافَسِfalyatanāfasilet aspire
ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَl-mutanāfisūnathe aspirers
٢٦(26)
The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.

وَمِزَاجُهُۥwamizājuhuAnd its mixture
مِنmin(is) of
تَسْنِيمٍtasnīminTasneem
٢٧(27)
And its mixture is of Tasneem,

عَيْنًۭاʿaynanA spring
يَشْرَبُyashrabuwill drink
بِهَاbihāfrom it
ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَl-muqarabūnathose brought near
٢٨(28)
A spring from which those near [to Allāh] drink.

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
أَجْرَمُوا۟ajramūcommitted crimes
كَانُوا۟kānūused to
مِنَminaat
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
يَضْحَكُونَyaḍḥakūnalaugh
٢٩(29)
Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
مَرُّوا۟marrūthey passed
بِهِمْbihimby them
يَتَغَامَزُونَyataghāmazūnathey winked at one another
٣٠(30)
And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟inqalabūthey returned
إِلَىٰٓilāto
أَهْلِهِمُahlihimutheir people
ٱنقَلَبُوا۟inqalabūthey would return
فَكِهِينَfakihīnajesting
٣١(31)
And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
رَأَوْهُمْra-awhumthey saw them
قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey said
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāithese
لَضَآلُّونَlaḍāllūnasurely have gone astray
٣٢(32)
And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

وَمَآwamāBut not
أُرْسِلُوا۟ur'silūthey had been sent
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover them
حَـٰفِظِينَḥāfiẓīna(as) guardians
٣٣(33)
But they had not been sent as guardians over them.

فَٱلْيَوْمَfal-yawmaSo today
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
مِنَminaat
ٱلْكُفَّارِl-kufārithe disbelievers
يَضْحَكُونَyaḍḥakūnathey will laugh
٣٤(34)
So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

عَلَىʿalāOn
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِl-arāikithe thrones
يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnaobserving
٣٥(35)
On adorned couches, observing.
Juz 30Page 589
هَلْhalHave (not)
ثُوِّبَthuwwibabeen rewarded
ٱلْكُفَّارُl-kufāruthe disbelievers
مَاmā(for) what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnado
٣٦(36)
Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?
