1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِوَٱلطَّارِقِ١
By the sky and the knocker
2
وَمَآأَدْرَىٰكَمَاٱلطَّارِقُ٢
And what can make you know what is the knocker?
3
ٱلنَّجْمُٱلثَّاقِبُ٣
It is the piercing star.
4
إِنكُلُّنَفْسٍۢلَّمَّاعَلَيْهَاحَافِظٌۭ٤
There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.
5
فَلْيَنظُرِٱلْإِنسَـٰنُمِمَّخُلِقَ٥
So let man observe from what he was created.
6
خُلِقَمِنمَّآءٍۢدَافِقٍۢ٦
He was created from a fluid, ejected,
7
يَخْرُجُمِنۢبَيْنِٱلصُّلْبِوَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ٧
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.
8
إِنَّهُۥعَلَىٰرَجْعِهِۦلَقَادِرٌۭ٨
Indeed, He [i.e., Allāh], to return him [to life], is Able.
9
يَوْمَتُبْلَىٱلسَّرَآئِرُ٩
The Day when secrets will be put on trial,
10
فَمَالَهُۥمِنقُوَّةٍۢوَلَانَاصِرٍۢ١٠
Then he [i.e., man] will have no power or any helper.
11
وَٱلسَّمَآءِذَاتِٱلرَّجْعِ١١
By the sky which sends back
12
وَٱلْأَرْضِذَاتِٱلصَّدْعِ١٢
And [by] the earth which splits,
13
إِنَّهُۥلَقَوْلٌۭفَصْلٌۭ١٣
Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a decisive statement,
14
وَمَاهُوَبِٱلْهَزْلِ١٤
And it is not amusement.
15
إِنَّهُمْيَكِيدُونَكَيْدًۭا١٥
Indeed, they are planning a plan,
16
وَأَكِيدُكَيْدًۭا١٦
But I am planning a plan.
17
فَمَهِّلِٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَأَمْهِلْهُمْرُوَيْدًۢا١٧
So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.
